anything that can 1 shot an enemy should be considered high DPS. lol

[/ QUOTE ]Only if it can 1 shot enemies with sufficient frequency to be considered high DPS.

Self Destruction deals a lot of damage, but with an hour recharge it's far from high DPS.

Confuse can diminish xp if a confused foe kills another foe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For a single mob, yes, EXP can be reduced. Over time, however, the damage contributed by a confused foe means you're killing the mobs more quickly; and the EXP curve remains unchanged. Also, the amount of exp lost by a "minor" damage contribution by a source not on the same team as you is very, very minimal.

    ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I still hear this one in fact last night:

    Player A:
You know that confuse power is costing us exp?

Me on my fortuna: But it is helping us kill faster, so it's a wash [on custom mobs who were mostly lt's and rezed after dying].

    Player A: Hardly.

Me: crickets chirping [another one who will never be convinced]

He left before the end of the mission, no one else said anything.

And then I've had other players who loved the confuse powers. Honestly I mainly use the confuse power when I have to to stay alive, not every time it is up, or to open a bunch of mobs when there's no brute.

[/ QUOTE ]If you got a high damage team then any damage confuse does is overkill and not needed and in a sense just leeching xp. It doesnt happen often but sometimes I get on teams with multiple blasters that take turns nuking so spawn thats getting like 1 or 2 hits in before its steam rolled is just causing xp loss because they would have died anyways in the same amount of time from said nuke.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except if you're doing more then 50% of the total damage to the mob (as a group), then you're still getting the full experience for it, totally making that point invalid for the most part.

[/ QUOTE ]No, if you and your team are doing 50% of the damage to the critters, you're getting 80% xp, not 100%. See graph.

That said, on steamrolling teams I never use Confuse simply because the animation is too long (and my Fortunata doesn't have Aura of Confusion, and I don't have a Mind Dominator/Controller at 32+). By the time I've cast Confuse/Deceive, the spawn is already dead, or would be if I had used an AoE attack instead of Confuse.

The highest ranking Trolls have mutated into grotesque abominations – they have horns, bulge with oversized muscles, and are relatively sexless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

in this light it would appear only higher ranks, Supa-Troll, are sexless.

[/ QUOTE ]Only the Trollkin are missing horns on their in-game models, implying that "the highest ranking Trolls" is actually referring to "Everyone but the minions", not just the Supa-Trolls.

I find the "Applying" process to take longer, in most cases.

[/ QUOTE ]Indeed. And the "Applying" process is similar to installing an application, so changing the way the patches are downloaded wouldn't affect that in the least.

the most powerful AT in CoX.

[/ QUOTE ]Ahahaha. Well built/played doms can be strong, but I wouldn't call them the most powerful AT in CoX by any stretch.
  6. They're AoE buffs that last until the henchman dies. Both buffs give the henchmen different powers, and stack with each other.

In short: Always take the upgrade powers as soon as they're available, and always use both on your henchmen whenever you summon them. (There are some exceptions to using both, but that gets into more complicated manipulating of the pet AI)

If you can earn 4000 tickets faster than 20 merits, then it's better.

[/ QUOTE ]Better than merits, yes. But is 2 gold rolls better than 106 bronze rolls?

    [ QUOTE ]
The per-recipie average value is way higher for Gold roll recipies than for Bronze, and it contains things you can't get at all in Bronze.

[/ QUOTE ]If you're just rolling with intent to sell, the average market value is all that matters, not what you actually get. While each gold roll recipe might get you more inf, you can get a lot more bronze rolls with the same number of tickets.

Inf is indeed available in the CA window

I have obtained over 400hp in one attack on my Katana and with a team of /kin with FS i hit right at 700hp in 1 atttack.

[/ QUOTE ]That's not a very useful statement. A Super Strength Tanker can hit for over 500 damage with Knockout Blow without any external buffs, but I don't think anyone would call SS or even Tankers in general high sustained DPS.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Roll gold rolls or convert tickets into salvage sell buy your pieces.

[/ QUOTE ]Gold rolls with MA tickets seems inefficient to me; at most, you can get 2 rolls in one go.

Bronze or Silver rolls, OTOH, you can fill up your entire recipe inventory at once, saving you a lot of time.

We know even perfectly normal humans are capable of extreme feats of burst strength, enough to snap handcuff chains and break bones...

[/ QUOTE ]It doesn't take all that much force to break a bone. It depends on which bone, of course, but they're hardly the strongest thing on earth

Edit: and no, there isn't any workaround other than writing single-paragraph bios.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or using ridiculous paragraph breaks like this:

    Write a little something.
    --------------------------------------------------
    Write some more...
    --------------------------------------------------
    Add a little bit more..

Probably run out of room in the text field. lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]Tht only works if the person looking at your bio sizes the info window approximately the same size as you do.

[/ QUOTE ] Well I think 50 dashes is more than enough to cover the default sizes. It's still makes for better viewing for most people than what we currently have.

If you aren't comfortable with 50, take satisfaction that you wont end up with:
    "-----------------------------------------
    ---------"
if you put too many, so add as many of them as you think you need.

Yeah, it might look silly for people who expand the info window very large.
It'll still work as a fine divider regardless. Anything is better than a wall of text.

[/ QUOTE ]Of course, then you're also eating into your limited character count

    Power Myths!

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
This isn't really a "powers" myth, but it amused me to no end, so I'll share.

I don't remember the specifics, but I was on a team with a fire/kin who was talking about how they moved from farm map A to farm map B (names removed to protect the (not-so) innocent). When I asked why the answer was "All of the good drops have been farmed out of it, so I moved on". I had no response at all, it was like a mag 30 stun hit me behind the keyboard.

    [/ QUOTE ]
There may actually have been truth to this at one time. IIRC, shortly after IOs and Salvage were introduced someone discovered that if you ran certain missions in a certain way, you would get exactly the same drops in the same order every time. I believe it had to do with how the intern (I hope, anyway) seeded the salvage drops when you entered a mission. They fixed that little bug a while back, though, so even if this validated what the player believed at one time, it no longer applies.

[/ QUOTE ]It was a bug in the initialization of the RNG responsible for rewards; on certain specific missions (generally, missions filled with special enemies like 7th Generation Paragon Protectors) the drops were always the same. To my knowledge, none of the missions known to be bugged were ever considered farm maps.

All of the other missions had drops functioning normally.
  17. Speaking from a purely theoretical standpoint rather than experience, I don't think it will have any noticeable effect. The speed of alt-tabbing from a full screen application has a lot to do with graphics, and the Steam overlay's graphics are approximately nil.
  18. You don't think being a hallucinogen and highly addictive are negative effects?

Also, it's obvious that Dyne suppresses female hormones/increases male hormones, as evidenced by the fact that you never find any apparently female Trolls

Can we have the images that have been lost to teh interwebz?
  21. Can't you do this anyways? I know I've seen someone playing with 3 monitors, so you could move your map to one monitor and resize it as you wish.

Bug, I believe introduced in i14. No idea when it'll get fixed, but it seems to be low priority, which is extremely unfortunate. don't edit any of your existing characters' bios if they have line breaks, or they'll get hit with the bug

O2 Boost sucks, and is entirely skippable.

[/ QUOTE ]O2 Boost sucks as a heal. But it's quite good for stun/sleep protection (can you say Rikti?), as well as endurance drain protection. It's also one of the few grantable +Perception powers in the game.
  24. I'll agree with Nethergoat on Fire/Dark Corruptor. Mine's not even 20 and I enjoy playing it
