Quote:I think it would be simpler to just look up the name of the animation for the power you want a shot of, an have your character play that animation in the demo (hand-edit the demo, that is)You'd 'simply' (for values of simply that are applicable to 'accomplishing power customization' and 'soloing hamidon while drunk') record a demo of you attacking a random NPC, then edit the demo file to replace that NPC with an invisible (in the sense that they have no appearance, transparency doesn't really work in demos) entity (I think there's an npc called something like 'puddle' that has no appearnce... plus, a player character with no costume would work, IIRC). I'm pretty sure one of the demo editors (Sloth's?) can make that simplier.

Weakling 4-year old shot! Neat team mascara! Invisible cockroaches! Extra! Extra!

Then what good are "prestige levels"? All it does is make you play your character for a little bit longer before making a new one.

Doublefusion should only be for the rotating billboard ads (provided by, surprise surprise, Double Fusion)

Quote:It is accurate. And I'm the one that wrote it.I got the number from this Paragonwiki article. Don't know if it's accurate but that site has a pretty good track record.
You can test the veracity yourself. Take a knockdown power such as Foot Stomp, with magnitude 0.67. (Foot Stomp is just an example; most KD powers are mag 0.67)
Use the KD power on an enemy that is -1 to you, and does not have a weakness to KB (ie: Don't use it on Clockwork). Due to the purple patch, using a mag 0.67 KB on a -1 enemy multiplies the magnitude by 1.11, bringing it up to 0.7437. The -1 enemy will still be knocked down, indicating that 0.7437 is still below the KB threshold.
Repeat the test against a -2 enemy, for a 1.22 multiplier to the KB magnitude. This brings the KB up to 0.8174. The -2 enemy will fly backwards, indicating that 0.8174 is above the KB threshold.
You could narrow that demonstrated gap by doing things like testing on KB-weak enemies (I believe Clockwork have 20% KB weakness, so a -0 clock would be mag 0.804), or using KB enhancements to fine tune the KB magnitude, I just haven't done it. The demonstration above shows that the threshold is not 1.0, as many people believe. 0.75 is the most likely value in the demonstrated range, simply because it's a nice round number. -
Quote:Part of the problem with lengthening SB isn't anything to do with balance. Some people flat you don't like it. There are players who will stand stock still until SB wears off if someone casts it on them, and making SB longer without having a way to remove unwanted buffs just makes their situation worse.Making SB last a lot longer or making it an AoE would result in making it hugely weaker, or have dramtaically longer recharge (preventing it from being perma)
This is similar to why Increase Density has such a short duration - ID comes with a speed debuff as well as mez protection, so the duration is short to minimize any griefing potential. -
It's Dark Consumption, and it doesn't buff his damage. (but it does scale 1 NE damage). He's also got AoE Life Drain, Siphon Life, Reconstruction, and Dull Pain. And Chill of the Night is autohit, so no amount of tohit debuff or defense buff will stop it from damaging you.
Keep out of melee range, and he can't hit you with Chill of the Night, Siphon Life, Dark Consumption, or his melee attacks. -
-
He doesn't have Dark Regen, but he does have mutiple self heals and he's got autohit damage, as well.

Quote:Monsters are not very different from AVs (generally, they've got a bit more HP and don't have PToD), and Stheno is an AV already.Giant Monsters are entirely different. Monsters are not, which is what I was responding to.Quote:Stheno, as an AV, is inside a mission that comes with a warning to bring friends and the ability to downgrade her to an EB. If you run around a corner and right into her, you knew she was somewhere in there and you're supposed to defeat her.
GMs are entirely different... -

They have different descriptions because the description has never been very accurate (Mental Blast is High while Subdue is Moderate, but Subdue used to do more damage), and because the Dominators (and Psi Assault especially) recently got revamped.
The two powers are extremely similar now, despite what their description says. -
Quote:Because they weren't allowed to. Cryptic bought the Champions IP, not the HERO System IP. (Hero Games is licensing the Champions IP back from Cryptic to make the next Champions P&P game)why they didn't actually TRY using the system that the damn game's based on
Champions Online doesn't try to use the system from the Champions P&P game, simply because Cryptic doesn't hold the rights to said system. -

Quote:I can understand complaining about Scrappy (he's still larger than a normal enemy, but he's the smallest GM), but Caleb is not the size of a normal enemy. Not by a long shot.I would love this, especially if it's an actual Giant Monster, and not just a normal-sized baddie labeled so (I'm looking at you, Ghost of Scrapyard and Caleb).
Caleb is about the same size as Babbage or Paladin, and he's bigger than U'Kon Gr'ai, Kraken, or Adamastor (or Deathsurge/Ghost of Scrapyard). And Caleb is only a bit smaller than Jack in Irons.

Left to right: Ms. Liberty, Ghost of Scrapyard, Deathsurge, Adamastor, Kraken, U'Kon Gr'ai, Paladin, Babbage, Caleb, Jack in Irons -

Quote:I agree that people should be rewarded for doing more, not punished for doing it faster. One suggestion I really like I believe I first heard from BAB: gambling merits on challenge settings.I don't like that much. I'd rather increase for when people kill lots of stuff. Makes the most sense to me.
Each challenge setting (or possibly each combination of challenge settings) would have a certain value dependant on which TF you'r running. Zero Deaths challenge on the STF might be worth 10 merits, but on the Citadel TF it might only be worth 3.
If you succeed at your challenge settings, you get bonus merits. If you fail challenges, you get fewer merits. Some players might get really pissed at you for dying in the last mission when you're trying for Zero Deaths, but it's a risk they take with that challenge.
One remaining problem is that some challenge settings are impossible to fail (ex: No Temp Powers, you're simply prevented from using them). In that case, I'd recommend that unfailable challenges aren't worth anything on their own, but can amplify the value of other selected challenges. -

Quote:I think it'd be neat if a Hortha Vine just opened up in GrandvilleTHIS THIS! OH GOD THIS! But honestly, I think it might be cool if villains didn't get a firebase, but rather there was a HUGE Arachnos Airship that served as the villain base, and that large scale villain access into the Shard happened because someone @#$%ed up with the Destiny portal and it TEARS AN ENORMOUS HOLE IN THE SKY off the coast of Grandville that leads into the Shard through a series of islands that have fallen out of the Shard as remain suspended in the air in our world.

Altering the game's Gamma option shouldn't affect your Desktop at all. I could see how it might make Paragon unbearable if your characters are invisible in Mercy without modifying your Gamma.

Quote:You can glean (some) information about it from the JRanger article on Encyclopedia Dramatica:The shenanigans are basically what I said in the first post: Some people spam-reporting everyone that didn't support their suggestions (and at least a few that did), and JRanger's legacy of 'no' (which become /JRanger and a few other colorful variants) insta-response to most of the suggestions on this board (most of which were bad, he had a few 'yes'es).
There's not really much more to it.

But where there are fans, there are haters who feel the need to be a lulz killer. Two posters, one by the name of Shiverwraith who would always spell half the words in his post wrong, and when confronted about it he would start crying about how all his fingers are stuck together after he burnt them in a factor. The other by the name of KittyKrusader would make dumb ideas and couldn't handle any criticism and would ignore anyone who disagreed with him. These two posters started notifying any post to the moderator that said no, or states that they disagree with what was being said because they were butthurt their ideas always got no'd.
Then on 9/27/07 at 5:44 PM JRanger was banned by the moderator Ex Libris. She didn't say why but we are led to believe it is because she could't handle dealing with all the stuff Shiverwraith and KittyKrusader were notifying. So rather then telling them to STFU and ban them for spamming her in private messages she banned JRanger when he didn't break any of the rules. -
