"Play Animation" Macro for Attack Powers

Some time ago, I asked under the macro help thread if a macro was possible to use a power but have no targets. At the time, I wanted take screen shots of my DB/ stalker in various attacks for screenshots. I haven't seen any other posts on this type of feature since then. And I didn't see this discussed in the I16 sections.

The problems pointed out were either that no macro existed (and still doesn't) or I needed an invisible enemy player to attack (something targetted). This was not quite what I was looking for since it sort of ruined shots in certain spots, say like Oro or co-op zones like Cim.

Anyhow, I was looking at the beta for I16 and noticed when recoloring powers, the animations went off, even with the blast effects for ranged powers.

The suggestion would be to have a macro that does the animation effect as seen in the power coloring screen. I know SCR applies on if it is possible or not, and it may be low priority. But I would like to use it for new screen shots for other toons I now have (not sure if players would use for avatars/sigs).

A few tips: One, there's the targeting dummies in the Rikti War Zone you can use... and come i16, ANY LEVEL character can get in there.

Secondly, you could accomplish that through the magic of Demo Editing! You'd 'simply' (for values of simply that are applicable to 'accomplishing power customization' and 'soloing hamidon while drunk') record a demo of you attacking a random NPC, then edit the demo file to replace that NPC with an invisible (in the sense that they have no appearance, transparency doesn't really work in demos) entity (I think there's an npc called something like 'puddle' that has no appearnce... plus, a player character with no costume would work, IIRC). I'm pretty sure one of the demo editors (Sloth's?) can make that simplier.

Pedantic moment: You're not looking for a macro, you're looking for a command A macro is a little button that attempts to execute a string, which should consist of one or more commands

(although, I'm not against the idea of having a vanity mode of sorts to use your powers just to show off or for silly purposes)

I think it would be simpler to just look up the name of the animation for the power you want a shot of, an have your character play that animation in the demo (hand-edit the demo, that is)

Depends on the power. Some powers also have an effect when it hits the target (like the swirly things when you use siphon power, or the banana sticking out of them when you use impale). With an invisible enemy those would still show (you can still seem them in the i16 power editor, which is funny 'cause it'll often outline the invisible target), which admittedly the OP might not actually want.

Thanks all for the responses and info about a demo.

Didn't know that the coloring screen had an invisible target. Probably haven't used the right power to "see" it yet. I thought it was just the animation going off.

Hehe, and yeah, I guess that is a command. Always thought the powexec_auto, and so forth were called a macro.
