Quote:Probably not a requirement to uninstall the old version, but as with most programs, if you're downloading and installing a new version, uninstalling the old version is probably a good idea, anyway.I didn't uninstall the old version before installing the latest build and it works fine for me.
You won't lose your builds, so no worries there.
As far as I know, aside from the data files which are just plain text, the "database" is just an arbitrarily binary packed file with all the necessary information. I could be wrong on the specifics of that, but attempting to document the Mids' database format would likely be an exercise in traipsing through a set of source code files to reverse engineer the documentation.Quote:I wouldn't mind if the database format they used was documented... or at least I was told where that documentation was
I am willing to tell you, however, that the cross-platform Mids' I'm in the process of building is using Apache Derby to store program data in a fully relational SQL database. The database editor I'm implementing will be different from the one that exists in Mids' currently.
Currently, in Mids', the database editor directly modifies the stored data used to display things in the program. In the version I'm developing, the database editor won't touch the data at all. Instead, it will develop a second schema representing the changes you've made. Your changes will override the values in the main schema (thanks to the wonders of Outer Join), but this format means that at any time you can undo your changes to the database (when your changes are deleted, the 'official' values reassert themselves), and any updates to the database won't override your changes (they're still listed as changes in your schema, and will still override the new, updated values).
Please recall, however: the Cross-platform Mids' Hero Designer is being built from the ground up. There is no projected release date for the program, and Mids' will be .Net only for some time yet. Apologies, Mac and Linux players!

Knockdown is Knockback with magnitude < 1.0
(Truth: KD is KB or KU with mag < 0.75) -

You can also use a self-rez. And Howling Twilight works on you just fine (since it doesn't need a target). And through what's most likely an unfixable bug as a consequence of the way the powers system and networking work, it is possible for an ally to use powers like Fallout, Vengeance, and targeted resurrection powers, it's just extremely unintuitive and probably shouldn't be happening at all.

Your D&D games must've sucked then. Everything's better with robots

My forum handle is the same as the first character I created, on my 14 day trial. Who's still only level 41 -_-
The character is supposed to be a Zenith caste Solar Exalt Djala, and the naming scheme is similar to many canon characters in the game:
Arianna, Dace, Harmonious Jade, Panther, Swan
Tepet Ejava (The Roseblack), Mnemon, Tepet Arada, Cynis Denovah Avaku of Ways, Peleps Deled, Sesus Nagezzer (The Slug)
Anja Silverclaws, Madame Vert, Red Jaws, Strength of Many
Falling Tears Poet, The Lady of Darkness in Bloodstained Robes, The Maiden of the Mirthless Smile, The Seven Degreed Physician of Black Maladies, The Disciple of the Seven Forbidden Wisdoms
Black Ice Shadow, Crimson Banner Executioner, Shepherd of the Norht Star, Iron Siaka
May Blossom
Shikuzi the Weaver, Dilari of the Sea Foam, Neshi of the Double Whips, The Laughing Boy
Dreadful Adjudicator of Law, Lissome Avid Engineer, Fair-Spoken Rishi, Ecessively Righteous Blossom, Stern Whip of Industry
Captain Gyrfalcon, Sulumor (The Wan Stravorphore), Cearr, Bitter Copal, Manosque Cyan
I also always told myself, if I ever get a second account, it'll be @Everpresent Cacophony, or something similar

I've only customized my Fire/Kin Controller so far.
Siphon Speed and Speed Boost are yellowy-orange, in an attempt to match the yellow = fast style of Hasten and Super Speed.
Transfusion and Transference are bluish-white, with Transfusion being more white and Transference being more blue.
The other Kinetics powers tend to be some variation on red/purple (damage) or orange/white (other)
Flashfire has an explosion of bright orangish-white, which I think fits the name extremely well.
Fire Imps are an orangish/blue, which I think just looks really cool.
My other fire powers are blackish/brown-orange, making everying look a lot more smokey.
I was also on a team yesterday with an Ice Blaster who had a dark purple Freeze Ray, which I thought looked really neat. It looked even cooler matched with the Warshade on the team
Another person I've seen (same team) made their Dark Miasma powers even blacker, which had an interesting effect (esp. for Dark Servant and Tar Patch), except for Darkest Night, which they made bright yellow to try and keep people from killing the anchor. -
Quote:It was ready yesterday. Note that the previous version of Mids' is pointing at Mids' website (honorableunited.co.uk, IIRC) to check for updates, rather than the Titan-controlled cohplanner.com. In order to get I16 Mids' Hero Planner, you have to uninstall your version of the program, and download the new version from cohplanner.com.Last I checked, yesterday... it wasn't ready (so it is now; awesome)
Future versions will be capable of auto update, since the I16 version also now looks to cohplanner.com for updates. -
Steiner and St0n3y are different individuals. People were getting frustrated with Steiner for not updating Mids' fast enough for their liking (since he also manages other parts of the Titan Network), St0n3y created an excellent unofficial update, and Steiner brought him on as an official member of the Mids' team.

Speaking of HeroStats, I've been using it with Windows 7, and it's worked wonderfully until yesterday. When I tried to run it yesterday (trying out I16 on my Kin), HeroStats alone took up half of each of my two CPUs, as well nearly twice the RAM of Firefox. With HS running, CoH was chugging along at about 4-5fps (or more like 0.5fps if I was somewhere busy, like the market or the tailor yesterday). Shutting HS down bounced me straight up to 30fps.

Quote:Most (non-purple) damage procs are 15-20% chance, with 20% being far more common. In fact, I can't think of any damage procs with a 10% chance, and the only one with a 15% chance I can think of is Touch of Death. I believe all (non-purple) damage procs deal 71.8 damage. Purple damage procs are 33% for 107.1 damage. (Damage stats listed are for characters fighting as lv50)Let's re-emphasize this part. I believe regular procs have a 10% chance to do additional Minor damage. The purples have a 33% chance to do additional MODERATE level damage.
Ignoring ToD, that makes non-purple procs average to 14.36 damage per activation, and purple damage procs average to 35.343. -

Quote:I believe it's in the works to make it a toggleable option. I'm not sure about the ordering issue, though. Is there any way to turn OFF this ability for those of us who don't have that vet award yet? Currently the display of movement power pools is extremely screwy because of this change - the second and third powers in the pool have swapped position (so for fly the powers are listed in the order hover, fly, air superiority, group fly) and could be very confusing for those who are NOT aware of the vet award that makes this possible.
