Yea I normally get around 30 FPS in most zones with Ultra Mode turned up. What I described before only happened 2 or 3 times and only for 5 minutes or so each time.

Well, there's a difference between lag and just getting a crappy framerate because the graphics are cranked up too much, not sure which problem they're having. Personally, I've experienced some memory leaks a few times, or so I think, where I drop down to 3-4 fps even when I turn down my graphics to minimum settings.

I think Castle should just raise the duration for Scrappers and Tanks. Help raise the performance of the set to better match shields, for those AT's at least.

Alright, here's what I quickly came up with to give you an idea to work from. I dropped Snowstorm because IMO it's just a waste of end. Changed some slotting around in powers to either save slots or for more effective enhancement values. Dropped an Achilles Heel proc in Sleet because it's great in there. I slotted a bunch of LotG's, but you obviously don't have to slot them, it's just an effective way to get more recharge.

You can certainly softcap S/L without gimping your build, you may have to change some power picks and slotting to do so. Most likely you'll have to slot up brawl and boxing with Kinetic Combat.
If you want I can see what I can come up with, I have a Sonic/Cold myself with softcapped S/L defense and 65% global recharge. -
Whether they are going ahead with CoH2 or not, I would play it in a few years whenever it would get released. If I still have interest in this game, I would gladly keep a sub for both.

How about if they implemented 2 upgrades for both tiers? One single target and the other AoE. It could still just be a single power pick, but you get access to both of them.

Well certainly use inspirations. What I meant by being conservative was not to go too crazy with them and keep some available for when you really need them.

Now, yes a SS/SD can run Liberate if you're careful like Rattler explained. Although, you'll still run into problems when there are more than one mob in close proximity to each other. But why fight against nemesis and deliberately slow down your killing speed when you can just go against something else. -
I'm not sure if it works the same way for macs, but there's an option under keymapping that toggles the UI on and off for screenshots. The UI is toggled off by default when you take a screenshot.

That should be enough recharge for farming. You can probably run +2/x8 without too many problems while maybe being a little more conservative with your inspirations.

You're still sacrificing too much for that defense. I mean Temp Protection, but no Consume?

Well, you can either focus on building towards melee or S/L defense because they both go hand in hand. By building towards one you'll still get a decent amount of defense for the other.
My Spines/Fire went for melee defense and ended with about 35% and 25% to S/L. Pop one purple and you barley even have to heal. I did the same thing with my Claws/Dark, melee defense. Although, it doesn't have quite as much because it's a cheaper build.
It's probably easier to get more S/L defense, but I don't think the little difference is worth sacrificing defense to all other melee damage types. -
So, it's okay for someone to ask a vigilante, "hey wanna rob this bank with me?" And then they accept. But it's not okay for a vigilante to ask themselves if they wanna rob a bank?
I'm just saying that I don't think it makes sense to me if a vigilante can only do that kind of stuff with a team, but not by themselves. Either way, in this case, they would still be robbing a bank. -
With the information we have available, it sounds like the only way a vigilante could do villain content is if they were on a team with a villain or rogue who could actually get missions from the contact. This would drastically lower the appeal of side switching to me and I'm sure, many others too.
I still don't think it makes sense if the only way for a vigilante to say, rob a bank is to be on a team with someone able to pick up that mission. Well, I guess I'll have to see how it plays out. -

So you're considering a lolDA huh?
I think it will be a decent combo, but unlike Fire/SD it will be a little harder to fully leverage FSC without a taunt aura especially if you're running OG. You'll just have to adjust to not having such a huge AoE like Banefire does.
For farming purposes, I really don't think you'll have to use OG since the enemies it will actually stun will be taken care of quickly. I know with using my Claws/Dark Brute, I often find myself turning OG off unless I really need the extra mitigation because I hate them staggering away out of Spins small radius.
Building for some defense is a good idea. Aim for around 30-35% and you'll see a pretty big difference in your survivability. That way you'll spend less time healing and more time killing and you can still get a good amount of global recharge.
Overall, it won't pack as much AoE hurt as a Spines/Fire or Elec/SD, but will make up for it with the better ST damage which certainly will help if you're going to fight against bosses like I think you would. -

Burn isn't a terrible power, it's just situational IMO. Resistance sets do benefit from defense well, but to achieve that defense, you sacrificed the strengths of a SS/Fire, which is killing things....fast.
Everything Silas said is spot on, even if he does loathe melee. -
If you're primarily using the Brute to farm Nemesis I would certainly pick Weave over Temp Protection just for the extra LotG 7.5 slot alone. SS/Fire loves as much recharge as it can get. The extra bit of fire resistance is negligible and the slow resistance is unnecessary.
