Quote:No, I haven't left Prae yet. I've run the tutorial, three other morality missions (one in each zone), and started the second Resistance arc in Neu (Warden) just in case. I have played it very cautiously because I want to grab as many Prae badges as possible. Thanks!Have you actually finished the last mission and zoned to Paragon City? Because if I remember correctly, the final decision (hero/villain) counts as #5.
Alternatively, you can turn off xp and there is another opportunity to earn a morality credit that you would normally miss due to outleveling it. Depends on what contacts you've done and what side you're in, but the last zone is generally the one I tend to outlevel.

PS: See my second question above. Does picking Hero or Villian when you leave Prae have a specific relationship to Resistance or Loyalist? I would hate to pick Hero and it not count as my fifth Resistance pick. Thanks again! -
I was wondering if that was the case! So, since you choose either Hero or Villian, is there a connection between Resistance/Loyalist and Hero/Villian in this choice, or does it not matter? Thank you!!!!! :-)
-
Ok, how do you actually get this badge? ParagonWiki says "Choose Loyalist or Resistance morality five times". I've played through the Praetoria arcs on my Resistance character...all of them, and am at level 19.7. I have chosen Resistance in every moral situation. As I think through things, you choose once at the beginning, and once in each zone. That's four times, not five. Do you make a fifth choice anytime? Do I have to turn off XP and try to run another Resistance arc before outleveling everything?
Sorry, I'm just confused over this one. I'd appreciate any and all clarification...I am simply not bright enough to figure this out on my own! ;-)

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. I ended up rolling an Ice/Ice last night and managed to get her out of the tutorial before heading off to bed. The "Ice isn't as good as Willpower or Shield" doesn't bother me at all, since every power set has advantages and disadvantages. If I only cared about "the best", then I would only roll 2-3 toons, depending on the circumstances. Besides, I want a challenge or two...otherwise I wouldn't be an Iron Eagle! :-)

Yesterday, some friends asked me to join their SG on a server I don't have a toon on, so I am comtemplating making a tank. Unfortunately, the only two tank primaries that I don't have much experience with are Ice and Shield...and I want to try out an Ice Armor/"something" tank. Are their any accepted "use this one" or "don't use this one" secondaries that should be considered when pairing it with Ice?
I realize that DM appears to pair nicely with Ice, but I don't know if I like the single target-only aspect of DM. I thought about an Ice/Ice tank, knowing that the slows from Ice Melee will help, but people often state that IM has a low damage output. I like the idea of Kinetic Melee adding -Dam, but I really dislike KM on a tank for some reason...it just seems made for Scrappers and Stalkers to me.
Anyway, as I ponder this I thought I'd covet the ideas of others. As always, thanks a million in advance!

I'm struggling on how to build my DA/KM tank right now. I have looked over Dech's build, and am torn between +End, +Rchg (going Energy Mastery epic) or for pure S/L/E/NE defense and whatever epic best fits. I don't know if having slightly less defense and more +Rchg is better than less recharge but more defense.
I might post some concept builds later...but this one is a toughie with so many useful possibilities.

Please help!
I'm trying to change an old bind that I used to use to make my chat background transparent. After reading the forums for 30 minutes (and trying out numerous combinations), nothing works. I am using the following:
/bind enter beginchat <color red><bordercolor pink><bgcolor #ffffff00>
That bind actually works...sort of. Once I hit enter, it places the color information in my chat message. The problem is that I don't have a cursor to type my message. In fact, I can't type any text at all, unless I manually bring a cursor into the message string. What do I need to add/remove/change so that I can simply hit enter and begin typing away?
Thanks in advance!

That's what I was hoping for. Thank you! Now, off to plan out my build!

As I plan my next build in Mids, I noticed that the +7.5% recharge bonus from LoTG IOs didn't seem to conflict with +7.5% recharge bonus from sets. Is that correct, or an error in Mids? Can I actually slot 5 +7.5% sets and 5 LotG's without hitting the cap? Thanks for all the help, everyone!

Personally, I'd take a well-played stormie against an AV any day. You get -Def, -Res, -ToHit, serious slows, and damage thrown in from Tornado and Lightning Storm. You also have a buffing "heal" in case of problems, +Def, and +Res. While you don't have -Regen, you don't always need it unless your team suffers from a lack of damage.

Thanks! I just logged in and still didn't see anything...then noticed that I had the "hide recipes missing ingredients" on (default, I guess). I turned it off and poof, there they all were! Thanks again!
My new alt: Sir Senior Moment! -
I'm trying to buy some Accurate XXX (Healing, To Hit Debuff, etc.) IOs using my merits, but it appears they don't sell those. Am I blind and simply not seeing them? I tried both the AP Merit Vendor and the TI Vendor. Almost everything else can be purchased, but not those few types.
Am I just having a senior moment??? Thanks!

Thanks! That worked like a charm! I didn't know you could simply ask the contacts from the "other side" and pick them up. Thanks again! This is going to be fun, since I've become bored with the standard playthrough!

Ok, maybe I just missed something completely obvious and will admit it. When running the arcs as either Resistance or Loyalist, my missions often say "If you're (a Loyalist/with the Resistance), contact..." but it's always if I was the other faction. For example, if I'm a loyalist running loyalist missions, then they say "If you're Resistance, call..." and vice versa. Of course, I can't call the leader of the other faction since he was never made a contact.
Outside of the moral mission when I can change my allegiance (and possibly use this option in the higher-level missions), is this right? Right now, I'm a little confused as to exactly how to capitalize on this option in many of the missions, and I certainly can't do it in any of the lower-level (pre-moral arc) missions.
Thanks for any and all "help" or "clarification" on this one. And yes, feel free to show me how "completely obvious" it is. -
I agree that the arcs don't just end. I finished up with everything (soloing) and left Praetoria at just under 22. Everything went smoothly, so I don't believe any of my final arc was truncated.

Quote:According to the in-game power details, Power Boost for dominators is only +66% for Endurance Modification...and everything else, if I remember correctly.Wow. I never knew that Dominator Power Boost gave +98% End Drain, whereas Blaster Power Boost now only gives 78% after the recent-ish nerf to it.
I'd tried an Elec/Energy Blaster post-nerf and found it an exercise in frustration, since Power Boosted slotted Short Circuit would stop just short of draining most mobs.
However, an Elec/Energy/Mu Dom would still have no AoE -recovery, would they?
EDIT - Ok, I just went back in and noticed my slider was set to level 1. At level 50, it's showing 98.34%. Whew, glad I caught that! -
That's exactly what I plan on doing. I will link them together, so they will always be equal. I will be the "odd woman out"
and SK to them. Thanks again for everyone's help on this!!!
Now, I just need to figure out what our trio will consist of. -
Thanks for the reply! I can't say I'm happy with the answer, but we'll work around it! Thanks again!!!

Hello everyone!
I was wondering about the current status of leveling pacts. I haven't ever used one before, but with my girls being older now, they wanted to start playing (actually playing, not swimming in the AP lake) the game some. I know that shortly after I13 introduced the leveling pacts, Positron said they would consider expanding them to possibly include more than two players.
My question: Have they expanded leveling pacts, or are they still only between two characters?
Much thanks! -
To start off, I'm a 60+ month vet who is returning to CoH after taking some time off. Right now, amid all the alts spread across a multitude of servers, I have multiple tanks including my last level 50 Inv/DM. While my first 50 was an Emp/Psi defender (back during I2/3), I slowly migrated to 'trollers and tanks as my favorites...though I still return to defenders to fill my "support through buffs, debuffs, and blasts" cravings every so often.
Anyway, I want to build another tank (obviously). I'd like to go with a primary of dark, fire, or electric (possibly ice, since I haven't ever played ice for any length of time). I know fire is receiving some nice lovin' from the devs, but the others intrigue me also. For a secondary, I wanted some AoE and mitigation, so I was considering ice, electric, or possibly fire (yes, mitigation through damage only...). I don't know anything about the new kinetic melee set (save what little I've read about it...all saying it's average). I guess stone melee is also viable. Yes, I'm somewhat into the "elemental" theme right now for some odd reason.
I don't want a shield tank, or a weapon-wielding tank. I had a stone/wm tank way back when before they switched around jawbreaker and everyone laughed...until I showed them how good it really could be.
I'm just looking for some good ideas. I don't know what all has changed in the past few issues, and I know a little about I18, bruising, etc. For some reason, Dark/Ice is drawing me in, but I want some "expert" suggestions. For what it's worth, I'm a PVE only, solo and team, play whenever I have time (which is very off-and-on), etc. I have some nice IO's I've gained over time, but I don't expect this to be a billion influence build. I just like having fun and surviving whatever the PVE game throws at me...with the occasional Rise of the Phoenix thrown in!
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. I'll take them all into consideration...promise! -
I was thinking about rolling a Stalker...the only AT that neither I nor my Hubby have played at length over the past several years. I like the Elec/Elec "concept" for my character, but I don't see much commentary regarding the /Elec secondary. Is that because it's poor for a Stalker? I'm a PVE'er, and I roll to have fun (with a good concept character), so min/maxing isn't important. It's all about style and looks.
Any comments? Yes, I know...roll a Def-based set... -
-
I am working on leveling up a /SR scrapper with a goal to soft-cap my defenses (~45 DEF...maybe a little more). Now, if I fight +1 mobs, do they still only have a 50% chance to hit (before my defenses), or do they get a bonus since they are +1? I remember something special about +5's, but my recollection is very "fuzzy" since I usually don't make characters who primarily rely on DEF.
Thanks in advance..and sorry for not searching first.

Awhile back, I read that the light/dark faerie pets left a corpse that you could still target. Is this still the case? And if so, can you use "dead team member" powers on them (like fallout and perhaps vengence)? Thanks!

Enos,
The only possible problem with that is in determining exactly which repulsion will take effect first...Sings or your RF. I might go off and test this one, though. It sounds interesting, to say the least.
