No. They're going to be human beings, who have to make real choices in a real war. They're going to have to examine their moral choices and decide what is the better way to act.
-
It can mean both. Statesman just trotted out that "epic=story" line when people said they hated Khelds. Considering how much they sucked originally, that's understandable.
Right now, Warshades, Crabs, Widows, and Forts are pretty frikken epic in the "tank-mage" way. So I would argue that epic=OMGBBQ and we have it!

Will probably work like Stalkers and the critical will eliminate the health cost associated with the power. Given that Stalkers receive no other benefit, it's highly unlikely that Scrappers will get anything better.

This. Normally, I just lol at people who say that IOs are out of casuals reach. But it was true for PvP recipes. Now it's not. Not seeing what there is to complain about.
-
The PvP +defense unique goes for 2 billion influence when it's available at all. 30 alignment merits seems a bargain to me. That's the only PvP recipe I care about since they destroyed PvP in I13.

Quote:Agreed. I would bet that they did this to further make the 1-20 game more tolerable. I may actually enjoy alting again!I second this.

My pointless speculation on how inherent fitness will work:
- current fitness pool powers will be grandfathered for existing characters but will not be available to new characters or after a respec
- all fitness powers will remain slottable
- all four powers (swift, hurdle, health, stamina) will be available at level 1
- all four powers at level 1 (except stamina) will be reduced in effectiveness as per their level 1 status, then improve as a character levels. The overall stats will fundamentally stay the same as they are now.
- stamina will be boosted so that its effectiveness is capped with its default slot. The main impetus for this will be to make the 1-20 experience less 'draining' and to free up slots for other powers.

Quote:True epic equality would mean:If you want equality between the Epics, why not go the other way and scrap the nonsense that is the Quantum and Void idea? It would make me hate Kheldians slightly less, at least.
Kheldian's ranged/melee mod increased to 1.0;
Kheldian's secondary passive given 4-6 MAG protection to status effects. -
Quote:That's exactly why the didn't do that. If they just made endurance recovery higher and/or reduced endurance costs across the board, everyone (as in the vast majority, not literally everyone) would still take Stamina anyway.Wouldnt it be easier to just increase the base recovery of all characters and keep the fitness pool as it is but just as a way to take it to an even higher level so it doesnt feel so essential but more of a luxury?
The only way to make a lot of people feel like Stamina isn't necessary is to give it to everyone or remove endurance altogether. -
Quote:Praetorian Police Stations? Sign my heroes up.I'm sure the 'heroes' of Paragon City will be delighted to help bomb some more hospitals and nerve gas a few police stations.
Better we need to banish a few Nemesis clones/alternate reality versions over there. That will fix 'em.

DCUO will destroy Champions, but I don't think it's really intended to compete with City of Heroes. From all accounts the games are going to play VERY differently.

Quote:Still going to be tough to beat 2007 (Loot, RWZ, Flashback) IMO, but I see your point.I'm gonna go out on a limb and call i20 for Christmas.
If it enters closed beta next week it should be -possible- if not probable that it'll hit before New Years. If it manages that herculean task, 2010 will go down in the annals of MMO history as the best year ever for CoH.

I just hope that whatever solo option they decide for the Incarnate stuff is meaningful and reasonably challenging. I think this system will be a big failure if it is like during GR beta and amounted to no more than minion farming.
-
Quote:Yeah, I think that's true. Issue 19 is probably no longer "Incarnates" but now the re-imagined Alpha Slot tease. If Issue 20 will be in Closed beta so soon, then I don't think it matters much if Issue 19 is so small. This is my speculation as well. When the Alpha Slot was pulled, one of the things Posi (I think) said was that they might release it as a mini-issue or something. So I'm guessing that I19 is now the Alpha Slot, the content connected to it, and whatever else is ready for release (tip missions, fitness, etc).
And I'm also guessing that what was planned for I19 has been moved back to I20. If that's the case, then it's good for several reasons. Like, we get I19 earlier than we probably would've before and this would give the devs more time to get the next Incarnate phase ready.
But that's just my speculation. -
Quote:Actually, you're both doing that. While I don't agree with them, it's perfectly acceptable feedback to state that you don't wish for the fitness pool to be inherent. Many people over the years have argued against making the Fitness Pool inherent.Hi, don't tell me how to play my game and I won't tell you how to play yours.

And the reason that PC Guy states is true. This will open up some builds. What he ignores is that I greatly doubt that we will be offered more slots to go along with the three extra powers we can take. That's going to make building more thoughtful, not less. More fun IMO, too because you're going to have to do a fair bit of the "min" work in Min/Maxing. -
The game is too easy, but it's not too easy because Stamina will become inherent. Endurance management in this game is annoying not hard. This is a great change.
-
Sounds like Issue 19 is like Issue 15 and will go directly to Open Beta.

Quote:And I agree with that. The 40-50 hero morality is a dream for farmers. Takes about 5 min. The agri-business side of me is kinda annoyed that people are complaining about it. I wish they would hush! That's a fair point, Geko. I'll concede that they have built in a reason to repeat the mission, and I'm sure that in due time it will be missions plural.
That said, they'll never be able to add enough morality missions to avoid a sense of deja vu, especially for those who are farming this system on their 50s. Presumably that'll become less of an issue when I19 provides new things for 50s to do.
-
Quote:Again, they created a reward that specifically REQUIRES that you run the content over and over again solely for the reward. Not sure why you're arguing this point as it's patently obvious that they do expect you to do this content multiple times. If they didn't they could just give you a free alignment merit every other day you remain a hero or villain. There's no need to tie that particular reward to content at all.I consider hero/villain merits to exist so that people who aren't side switching won't complain that there's no reason for them to do this content. Let's see if the existing reward structure survives the next round of 'balancing'.
Morality missions were designed for side switching, and I doubt the devs envisaged players would run them over and over and over again solely for the reward and to the exclusion of other content. But, as the Mission Architect fiasco emphatically proved, if it can be farmed it will be farmed, and farming is, by definition, repetitive.
They didn't have enough time to put in multiple morality missions and I'm sure that will be corrected at some point. But to state something that directly contradicts the evidence seems a bit silly to me. -
Quote:Yup. YMMV, but I find both red and blue side substantially less annoying to reach 20 on than Praetoria. There's more bells and whistles in Praetoria and more meaningful storytelling, but it's not any better from a mechanical perspective.Seriously though folks - do you really think it makes sense for the dev's to design this bright, shiny new set of starter zones and then, after 20 levels of bright and shiny, tell new players that they have to go through all the old, not so shiny, frequently painfull content to unlock the 2 special AT's?
It's all new to them right?Quote:I think its a HUGE mistake to force them to do this. Considering that its only the new players that are going to be hit by this - even someone who has been playing for just a little while prior to GR will already have characters on either or both sides its the new folks who picked up GR with the promise of the cool, new zones as an improved starter area that will then have to go back to the old, sad zones.
Blue side pushes new players to the Hollows, the Midnighter Arc, and Faultline which makes the ride to 20 solo or teams extremely easy and enjoyable. This lunacy that Blue side is so "stale" is a constant surprise to me.Quote:Also, for these new folks, the 1-20 ride is also NOT going to be the 'fast' 'easy' ride that all the folks praising the dev's for yet another silly decision like to claim. They are NOT going to have a large community of in game friends to PL them, they are not going be familiar with all the easy ways to level, especially through things like the old, stale blueside content. Redside won't be as bad at least, it is still a fairly nice ride although I expect a lot of folks will be turned off by the dingyness of the zones, especially after the bright shiny of Praetoria. -
Quote:The existence of hero/villain merits argues otherwise.Emphasis mine.
Whilst I agree that more choice would be good (sounds reminiscent of fighting Holo Man every single time my 50 wants to rob a bank) I imagine the devs assumed that we'd do morality missions occassionally, for the side switching, with the APs being a bonus rather than the object of the exercise. If you farm anything it'll get repetitive fast. -
Known issue. At this time only heroes or villains created in Paragon or the Rogue Isles originally can unlock Epic ATs.
What we don't know is what behavior constitutes the bug. It could be the fact that the epic ATs aren't unlocked or it could be that they erroneously tell you they are unlocked. -

There's an old homeless person in the underground which places Praetoria within the former United States of America. You come across him in one of the VERY early missions. I just can't remember which path. I believe that there are other references which strongly imply that Praetoria is in the United States.
