Quote:Truth. I genuinely enjoy running BAF and Lambda. I run Citadel for 5% HP.[SIZE=1]
Speaking of this sort of stuff, how many usually run the signature TFs because they're fun? I groan a little bit every time I realise I have a character I wanna run through Citadel's for the accolade. D:

I almost didn't respond, but I didn't say that the issue was all about Praetoria, I said it was all about "Incarnates and the war with the Praetorians." IIRC, the Kal TF is all about villains trying to get some of the Well power for themselves.
-
Quote:The focus of the issue is Incarnates and the war against the Praetorians. Both the two trials and the two TFs deal with that. The only new maps created for this issue belong to...wait for it...the TF you call a crumb.It's not half an issue. It's the focus of the issue and the start of a major change in the game's direction. The TFs are crumbs.
There's no change in direction. It's an expansion of a content path (multi-group encounters) that has laid fallow since Issue 10. It's long overdue and welcome from where I'm sitting. -
Think about all this constant, hyperbolic, complaining about 1/2 of one issue. It's easy to denounce people who are having fun.
It's much harder to understand your feelings about people who are happy about Issue 20. -
I can't talk people into moving to RWZ for trials, but we need a place to sell.
In fact, please add a place to sell to any zone that doesn't have one. -
-
On a break between trials, still having a ball. Several trials leagues running simultaneously here on Justice. Challenge goals (like no prisoners escaping) getting easier and easier. Multiple people with multiple level shifts already. Grind nowhere to be found.

Quote:No flamewar here considering I haven't insulted anyone or been belligerent. Unless you use a definition of those terms not connected with the English language.I'm starting to think you are merely attempting to bait me into a flamewar. Good luck Mr. Geko. I enjoy talking to people like you.

I love arguing about this stuff too, so keep it coming. In a few weeks the specious and hyperbolic nature of these complaints will be obvious to all (see e.g. Issue 19, Issue 19 Strike Pack for recent examples). -
Quote:That option didn't exist until Issue 7 for villains (requiring a difficult TF) and Issue 9 for heroes and villains who didn't want to do the LRSF.Because the option exists... you could skip the hami raids and still get hami-os if you want.
Perhaps, but the road to do so for the most desirable ones is just a slow as the non-trial way to earn Incarnate abilities no?Quote:You can skip pvp and get pvp ios if you want.
But that's just patently untrue. It's very slow, yes, slower than I would have made it, but you can earn the Incarnate abilities while skipping the trials.Quote:You can skip all TFs and still get reward merits.
You cannot skip the trial content if you want incarnate abilities. -
-
That's a different issue. If you weren't having fun before, then yes, you should probably leave or take a break. I can understand that. But people aren't saying that for the most part. Many folks are placing the blame for their leaving solely at the feet of Issue 20.

Quote:Only person throwing insults is you.I had a sneaky suspicion your estimate did not include the forming of the team. And pleae stop throwing around veiled insults, it's very immature.
The key parts of both are also timed which maintains a maximum commitment unless people are screwing around on the untimed parts.Quote:Hey guy. The completion time for Lambda and BAF is also variable.
No because it's not relevant, especially now. Right now you can get on trials so quickly that it actually hurts your point.Quote:So, you are willing to count the variable nature of the actual task but not the setup time? K.
What about the other 15-23 people that were already in the zone. Did you survey each one to find out how long they were waiting for the league to fill?
Again only person throwing insults is you. The bit about cybering was in jest. It wasn't directed at anyone. You're directing things at me. You are not giving feedback. You are complaining incessantly. That's not an insult. That's what you're doing. If you don't like the trials. Oh well. I do. Post what you want, I'll post what I want.Quote:You assume that because people decide to post feedback that they are not having fun. Here's a revelation for you...just because players post feedback does not mean they are not enjoying the content or are even upset. It's you that keeps resorting to grade school insults (see your first post above).
If you want MMORPGs to stop being MMORPGs and want to keep belittling and insulting people who are having fun then put me on ignore like Sam Tow. Then you can complain to your hearts content that a MMORPG is adding things that MMORPGs tend to add.
If that were your only issue then you wouldn't have felt the need to argue the point above.Quote:Case in point. I like the trials. They are very fun and even with my limited play time, I can still log in and enjoy one or two a week. My only issue with the...well...Issue comes down to the lack of options for the Incarnate System. I feel the devs should take a look at making existing content applicable for earning threads and/or components. And/Or revising the current converstion method for shards -> threads. -
Quote:When 99% of the content hasn't changed, I don't understand what's motivated you to not renew.As someone who has turned off their auto renew, I'll take a stab at this...
I like CoH for what is it and how it plays.
Is that any different that the LGTF or the ITF? Is it only the new abilities that make it different? If so, then are you really leaving because you want the new abilities but are not happy with what you have to do to earn them?Quote:Next, while it isn't yet, I know the trials will get old. I am not one that runs the same TF every day, nor the same arcs. I'll go months without having to repeat anything. The Trials are set up to foster a play it again and again mentally.
Listen I tried to present that last sentence in the most neutral and non-confrontational means possible. Reason being is that I really want to understand this. Because, the stated reasons people tend to give for quitting over Incarnates tend to be some variation of:
1) I don't like the trials (for various reasons);
2) I don't like the direction the game is going in.
That's puzzling to me because the answer to the first is "Don't do them." The answer to the second is that 1/2 of 1 issue of content does not constitute a change of direction. These responses are obvious, so it appears to me that the real reason people are upset is that all these cool new abilities are being added and they want them, but don't want to do the content that awards them. Nevermind you don't actually have to.
If that's the reason, there's nothing wrong with that reason. I've left other games for the same reason. Raiding in some games is so casual unfriendly that it REALLY becomes work (I'm not sure what people are talking about here). -
Quote:I swear I'll never understand this kind of /ragequit. City of Heroes has had large scaled multi-group encounters for years. It's still a tiny fraction of the overall content in the game. The devs devote 1/2 of 1 issue to adding a couple of these types of encounters and people are bolting for the door.My secondary account expires this month, my primary expires start of May. I'll come back for the next issue, assuming it's got something that isn't just more raids. In the meantime I'll spend my time, and money, on other games, that aren't taking a direction that's completely counter to my preferred playstyle.
-
No because that's variable. I've zoned into Pocket D and gotten an invite and been on the trial 3 minutes after logging in. But please don't let me keep you all from being upset while everyone else has fun.

Quote:And that argument would have some weight if it wasn't completely a matter of your opinion.This argument would be more compelling if not for the fact that virtually all of these are complete garbage.
However, in this case, in both games and comics you see multiple heroes taking on major encounters. So what's the point?Quote:There's also the fact that games are not comics, meaning things that work in comics aren't necessarily going to work in games. -
Quote:30 mins. is a "large time sink?"The Incarnate system - whether it is "like" the raid grind of other games or not - seems mostly geared towards large time sinks with large rewards at the end, and said large rewards create a very steep power creep. I genuinely worry about what will become of these trials once the expectation is held that everyone will have at least a couple of level shifts. Sure, older Trials will not be made harder, but what of newer ones? What comes after Cole?

Quote:Judgment will become Judgement.The Europeans have landed taken over and now have ownership of the NA servers. A devious plot they have been working on for some time. While we were all out running trials and raids, they have sneaked in under the radar.
Fries will now be know as chips.
Chips will be know as crisps
Hot Dogs = Sausages
Sidewalk = Patch
Vacation = Holiday
President Obama = Prime Minister Cameron
And you thought Cole was the threat. Muahahahahahahaa!!!!!

Quote:I understand the desire to have progression as a solo focused character. I don't begrudge people that. What I don't understand is this incessant need to use hyperbole to attack Issue 20.I still cannot understand the rationale behind wanting solo access to powers that are most useful on team content and would completely trivialize already-easy regular content. The best argument I've heard is that your interests are not being met, but you know what, neither are those of the base-building and PvP communities. You can't always get what you want. It sucks that you're not getting any new stuff, but you are making the choice not to play the new content, and the devs can't do everything at once. Right now they're focusing on Incarnate content. 5 years ago they were focusing on Villain content. Priorities change.

Quote:*Looks at Interface*For the looks I have to say Ion Judgement - calling down lightning from the sky, then flinging it on your foes does seem pretty epic!
Stats-wise I have to give it to Barrier Judgement. The only perma-able (at Very Rare) Incarnate slot, and if two people set it off at once, then "Hello defense/res cap"
