A system is in place. The items have a low drop rate. This means casual gamers must compete with hardcore gamers for a small pool of available items. That pretty much prevents them from obtaining the items, unless they get lucky and get one as a drop.

Moving the building to the boardwalk would put the lagfest right at the ferry from Port Oakes....which is how you get to Cap for the first time. It would also put it right near the tailor and the brokers. Distance from a trainer is irrelevant IMO, putting the building right near one is really only beneficial to people who are levelling up every five minutes (ie the exact behavior the devs want to discourage).

Limiting the spawning of a second instance to known high-population zones is problematic in that those are high-pop zones RIGHT NOW. Player behavior is not static. Who knows, with i16 PI and Grandville might become high-population zones again. I am not proposing limiting the maximum number of players who can be in a zone, just the minimum needed to spawn a second instance. Limiting the maximum as well would be counter-productive, since swarms of people would be forced to use the second instance.

Turning off Broadcast (or simply ignoring it) takes care of spam, but does not help lag.
  3. If you really don't want to farm, grab some friends and go get yourself Task Force Commander. Exemping for the Task Forces will earn you some inf, you'll get tons of merits, and the +HP from the accolade is always good. If you don't have Slayer and Silver Bullet yet, you can get a good chunk through the Moonfire TF as well.
  4. Makes you wonder doesn't it, how those thousands of 50s who have never teamed with Negescape ever managed to get there without him?
  5. Oooo, definitely will have to check out those two in FBZ, just to get some sense of the scale of that throne. It looks a bit like a hand.

That head....it is oddly pointed and familiar-looking. The Shadow Shard is so awesome.
  6. The battlecry space is too small, and I am too uncreative, so a lot of my characters' battlecry is "f10!" just so I have something to yell at Rommy.
  7. Please, explain how "performance issue" is a lame excuse. Maybe you like playing in slideshow mode, but the rest of us do not.

A line needed to be drawn, to minimize lag while allowing us to have cool costume options. The devs chose to draw it at letting us have only one back detail.

Mercy Island isn't a problem and I don't care about Atlas Park since I never go there. It's Cap. Villains HAVE to be in that zone in the teens, the AE building is in a frequently used part of the zone (three contacts, a trainer, the Fateweaver and two stores, plus the base beacon and Ouro drop off point) and the lag is atrocious as soon as you go anywhere near it, especially on Freedom.

Yeah, looking out the windows is all neat and stuff for about ten seconds. It is a lot less neat for all the time you spend lagging every time you go near a populated AE building.

Maybe they just need to drop the number of players needed to spawn a second instance of a zone. That would solve a lot of the problem, as people who don't want to deal with spam and lag can just go to Cap or Atlas 2.
  9. I know this sounds elitist, but the fact that a tiny portion of the playerbase knows about the player-designed tags makes them more useful than the built-in tags. This tiny portion found out about the tags through reading a section of the forums dedicated to helping people create better arcs. As opposed to the "easy" tag, that anyone can click to "get more plays" or because they found the arc easy with their purpled-out level 50 Scrapper. I personally find the "easy" and "challenging" tags totally useless, due to differing opinions on what constitutes easy and challenging. I have had much better results searching LBMA, which there are enough of to keep a lowbie busy for a few levels.

Yes, I agree, the tag search needs to be more obvious. I also totally second the idea of a level range search rather than a "my level" search that gives you all the level 1-54 custom critter arcs.
  10. Level 50 custom critters are scaled for a 50, not for an auto-skd 30. If you're mixing in Standard groups, there will be additional balance problems, as those groups have different critters at different levels. If you need to use standard critters that only appear at higher levels, then yes, set the arc's level to match theirs, but that should limit you to 45+ at the most.

With i16 coming up, sidekick hassles are pretty much a non-issue, and if you set the maximum level of the arc to 54, everyone will be guaranteed to get xp. Like Justice Blues said, setting the arc to 1-54 is a no-no (I despise those, because they always show up when I search "my level" even if I'm a lowbie and they are totally inappropriate for my level) but 25+, or 30+ depending on the difficulty of the customs is better than 50+. Besides, if you set it to auto-sk to 50, it won't show up when people below 50 search for "my level," even if they're high enough that your customs are an appropriate challenge.
  11. So I've decided to give up on Broadsword entirely and reroll as a Katana/Invul because Katana is sweet.

    So, the inevitable questions:

Tough/Weave? Y/N? Stupid question that my squishy mentality is forcing me to keep asking even though I should know better?
Do I try for positional defense (ranged and AoE to go with Divine Avalanche) or roll with Invul's typed defense?
Which are the skipabliest of the skipables?

It is a bad idea, because people do use AE for things other than farming. Those people who use it to create and play arcs don't want to deal with farmer spam and power lag any more than the general population of Atlas and Cap do. Of course if each AE had its own zone, I'd be all for that.

There is already a serverwide AE channel. It was added in i15. People tend to ignore it and continue to spam Atlas and Cap broadcast.
  13. Missions set to Invincible have both +2 and +3 spawns. If your AV spawned in a +3 area it might have raised the level.

You can force an 53+ AV to spawn at 50 by setting the max level of the mission to 50. If you do that though it'll auto-exemp you to 48 on Invincible, so you'll have to go to a lower diff and use fillers.

The 52-52s will spawn at 50 on Invincible if you set the mission to 50-52. The 51-51s keep spawning at 49 though, even if you set to 50-54 They might be 50 if you set the mission to 50-50 and go Tenacious with fillers? Silly AVs.

Edit: Victory is mine! Using the first bank map in the list, level range 50-53, Valkyrie, Sands, Luminary (all 51-51) all set to spawn to "middle," two out of the three will be 50, the other will be 49. Which one it is seems kinda random, but you can keep shuffling in AVs until you catch em all.
  14. Bill, some AVs, such as the RSF and STF ones, are level-locked. If you only used 45-54 AVs and they were still 51, it could have been because that part of the map spawned a level higher, if you didn't use an outdoor map.
  15. They can have it. I think even minions can, with custom power selections.
  16. The level 45-54 or 40-54 (can't remember which it is) Ms Liberty had the same issue, when I tried her in response to the "can't get AVs to spawn at 54" problem.

I was going to do up an AE issues list, but I got distracted by the forum migration and shiny objects. Might be time to revisit that.

At any rate, there probably isn't a way to flag the story as generally not being in English. And for what it's worth, searching for "Latin" in the story interface fails as well; that pulls in a whole bunch of things with "platinum" and "circulating" as well as Latin. Aspiring Latin story writers probably ought to use "latina" in their descriptions to cut down on some of the false positives.
All three of them. Honestly, I don't think there's a huge demand for arcs that 1) aren't in English (at least among the English-speaking players) and 2) arcs that are in a language nobody actually speaks.

Not that I'm saying you shouldn't do it, just don't be surprised if you get comments along the lines of "I couldn't understand a word of it, 1-star" because people are dumb.

    Db/SR?

DB/SR does indeed look sweet, and is extremely fun to play. The /SR effects are the least obnoxious of any Scrapper secondary, they are nearly invisible, even on a character of average size. Basically it's faint white swirly things around your character. The Combat Jumping effects are more noticeable. Even if you want to customize the effects, you should roll him now, to take advantage of the free respec that they seem to give out with every issue launch.

It's also one of the easiest secondaries to play, since you just turn on your toggles, put Practiced Brawler on auto-fire, and go kill. All tier 9s have a long recharge, so don't let that influence your decision.
  19. There aren't any Latin flags anyway, just French and German. They're listed as "locale" rather than language, although I'm not sure how that works...if you publish from the French server does it tag the arc as French? Do bilingual EU players have to go to a different server to publish an arc in a different language, or do they just get a button to click?

Generally the ones I find are three bosses, and maybe two Lieutenants and two minions. Not like the ones my squishies find which are three bosses, three or four Lieutenants and four or five minions.

Of course, whatever minions and lieutenants there are don't really last long anyway.

    RWZ challenge?

How big does the spawn have to be for it to count? Just three bosses? Or does it have to be one of those huge spawns that I can never find when I attempt this?

Oh yeah, it is definitely AVmon time. Maria still has missions for me, and there's still Unai's arc....I'm already thinking of doing an AE mission with the ones you can't get hero-side.
  23. So about 5 minutes ago I dropped my first AV solo. It was Hro'dotz. My husband asked me, "why Hro'dotz?" and I didn't really have a good reason why. After I thought about it some more I realized his ambushes might be helpful for a DM/SD (they were. The Assault Suit was even kind enough to get right up into melee range.), but mostly....it was because he's big and spiky and would look good lying dead at my feet. Except it turns out he teleports away when you beat him. Doh.

So who was your first? And why did you choose that one? Was it just whoever was available (or easiest to get, in the post-Ouro world)? The easiest one? The hardest one? Eeny meeny miney moe?
  24. Well Weapon Mastery is for concept. This game isn't so difficult that you can't squeeze in some concept powers every once in a while. The request for help was to get a baseline, so I could gimp from there by squeezing in concept powers, without getting TOO gimped. I don't plan on trying to solo AVs with this Scrappers anytime soon, just survive better in a dangerous world full of alpha strikes and inopportune lag spikes.

So if I were to, say, take that build, and remove SJ and Focused Acc to squeeze in Caltrops and gimpy Ninja stars....Thunderstrike in Shuriken for the ranged def or Armageddon for the +rech?
