Wait a second, what's wrong with Soul Train's skirt? It looks like it's turned 90 degrees!

Wow, i really need a vacation from my job then, if i think Fridays are Sundays o_O
  3. Comic Relief:This issue is a couple days early (usually comes out on SUndays, right?), maybe they had a new deadline and couldn't make it.

Btw, loved the "movies" portion.."Screw Loose" is obviously "Jackass", and "MERCS 2" is "Clerks 2"... can't quite guess the third movie, though. Maybe "Deathfest 10K" is referring to the webimation "Ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny"? Though Tac-Ops Tango sounds like that Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie movie where they're both secretly superspies or soemthing...?
  4. Hmm

Excellent work as always, but, uh... her guns and hands are misaligned to the point of clipping through one another. Heck, on her right hand (our left), you can barely even see her index finger.

Might either wanna fix that, or be a little more careful in the future =)
  5. Bwah ha ha!

My evil plan has worked perfectly... Ryu will NEVER get his katana changes!
  6. Wow...

I dunno why, but I'm always confused as to how people can take up this game and NOT know, at least on some level, any of this stuff.

There are MILLIONS of different ways to look.

    Thousands of power combinations.

You have to select an ORIGIN... the game at the first creation screen ENCOURAGES at least SOME type of RP-ish behavior by having you think "where do my powers come from?"

And there's a box where you can WRITE STUFF about your character for other people to see!

The game, throughout the entire character creation process, encourages creativity and a sense of RP... pretending that your character is an actual CHARACTER and not just some dude or chick sitting at their computer. It demands some degree of immersion. And it's immersion that's already there. No one, in any game, when they die, screams "omg my character got killed!" They scream "I got killed!", even though "they" are not that 3d model on a screen.

    Ah well.

All that said, I CAN'T create a character until i have some vague idea of a concept... but after that, it's easy to fill in the blanks. One needn't go too far with character creation, just either a) think of a back story, and what powers would result, or b) a bunch of powers you'd LIKE to play, and what set of circumstances might give someone powers like that. Simple =)

For instance, my main, my crown jewel, Patty-Sue Ivanova, started out as an amnesiac psychic, who, in my mind, was created by a villain group to be a "sleeper agent", that is, she didn't know she was under their control. I even had her origin be "Mutant" instead of "Science" because the Villain tampering of fresh DNA looked at first glance to be a mutation. Her telepathic powers were engineered to make stealthy kills, though I had no explanation for her Kin powers. Note that she's a telapath, and her name acronyms to "PSI" HOWEVER, I changed my mind on some of this slightly when I did the Countess Crey arc: I had somehow made a psychic clone character who looked a LOT like... Countess Crey. Who had psychic powers. I immediately got inspired to have Patty be a clone of Countess Crey... more like a body double, for the Countess to place her mind into if she were ever incapacitated... no, wait, that's too cliche.. I know, because she's vain and is afraid of getting old! Now that's funny and original! Except the "Clone body" somehow became self-aware and escaped captivity. It still fit with my basic concept, except that last bit of inspiration made Patty's origin shine.

I have others.. i wanted to create a Kin/* for the purpose of making a character w/out travel powers. See, as a normal person, she cant take any pool powers... luckily, Kin has two travel-power substitutes. But i had to figure out why a character would be like that to begin with. I settled on her being the victim of a Vhaz attack, and she was given robotic limbs to supplement her missing ones.. except they malfunctioned, sucking up power from nearby objects and discharging electricity. So there ya go. I have a spines/regen who's a nano-tech fueled half-zombie... He used to be a doctor, who was trying to find a way to cure cancer by using some of Dr. V's techniques (except he only used himself as a test subject... with horrible results). I have a Troll in Longbow, and a former Outcast who hangs with heroes as part of a plea deal.

You probably see a theme here by now: Most of my characters have some connection with a villain group or some part of CoH lore. This is somewhat on accident, but it seems that this quality makes for my more interesting characters... my other ones are just not worth mentioning. Take that for what you will.
  7. You really shouldn't need one. The first couple missions are straight forward and not too difficult. The third mission just find and defeat Manticore, who's up on the ridge near the "villain base".

Last mission, free the Freedom Phalanx and Vindicators, look out for ambushes after each hero is freed, then go after the Jade Spider. At 1/4th health, it'll "respawn" and start unleashing a Psi Lance AOE around itself. Pop a lot of oranges and take it out.

    =)

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this by people, but I think this: Using an Assassination attack and missing will no longer suppress Hide (though lesser stealth and invisibility powers will still suppress) if the attack misses. If the attack hits, Hide suppresses normally. is somewhat excessive if this change is for PvP as well as PvE. If this has no effect on PvP, and only effects PvE, then ignore anything I'm writing, because I have no problems with it.
IMHO stalker need no extra help in PvP when it comes to being untargetable. They already get the 1st attack 99.9% of the time. Some will argue max perception > max stealth.
Seriously lol@ that. Even _if_ you are lucky enough to get on a team that has max perception granting ability in a zone, a stalker has to get like 10 ft from you before you can even see it. Even if you do have max perception, you will never find a stalker until they attack you. Believe me, I don't really have a problem with not being able to find them, stealth is what they are designed around. But making it even harder than it already is to even target a stalker after they attack you,( with extremely minmal risk to themselves I might add), seems highly excessive IMO.
Even though I'm sure the flames will still pour over this, just want it to be said, I _do_ know how to counter stalkers, I'm not some crying nub that doesn't know tactics. This just seems excessive to me, that is all.

I agree, but I'm gonna flame you anyway, because that color red MAKES MY EYES BLEED ON THE DEFAULT BLUE BACKGROUND AAAGHH!!!!!

  9. That's actually the same as the Cimerorian flag... check out the border of the "good" part right before the bridge: same sign.

  10. Added Disgruntled Ex. It's not 100% done, and is kinda bare, but mweh.
  11. =O

    MAKE OUR OWN MISSIONS?!?!?!?!

    HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY [bleep!]

    joygasmnergasmEVERYTHINGasm!!!!
  12. Hmmm

Yeah, that's too huge a nerf, mister Castle sir. If you could have people just "break free" with two small BF insps, that'd still be good. I mean, it's TELEKENSIS.. it's SUPPOSED to shove things away!

And besides, Confuse is broken, and all it takes is an inspiration to negate holds and sleeps... that would make Mind completely useless. Mind isn't even one of the most problematic sets in PvP, it just has the one power which is unfair. You are, essentially, taking control away from a controller...

BFs already circumvent the "hold" aspect... after that, it's easy enough to fight back or get away. No reason to kill the repel portion.
  13. Wow.

While this is great news, I'm a little confused by everyone orgasming over ONLY two slots across TWELVE servers (initially). Though as someone who plays pretty much exclusively on Virtue, i can see how it'd be wasteful to have extra slots on ALL servers.

Still, it kind of feels like we're chasing a dangling carrot, and we finally got a nibble of it. And everyone's super-excited over it.

The "Purchasable slot" prices also seem a touch high, especially considering how some people are going to make slots just to transfer characters over. But i guess $15 is a small price to pay to be anal =) I would've made 1 slot be like 3 bucks or something. My only justification is that I don't really understand where the money is going. Like, does it cost more electricity to house more character info on a server? Does someone need to be paid to manually update the character selection screen? My point is that $4.99 seems entirely arbitrary, so, why not make it a little lower? Ah well, not a huge deal.

So, "bravo, Devs" but some of you fanbois need to calm down =P

Nice "M" mod... I wonder how it looks to everyone else?

    [/ QUOTE ]
You mean for his chest logo? How is it a mod?
You can make the same thing using the standard costume creator options.
    under Upper Body:
For Chest, Pick Tights, then Tights Smooth, then Emblem Circle for the yellow circular background.
For Chest Detail, pick M and then make both colors the exact same color.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yep. Not a mod.

I spent quite some time making various chest combos looking for one that worked, then backed into the name when the M+Circle thing looked good. (Plus he's on Virtue, so most names are already taken.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh.. huh. I rarely use the letter logo details, but i could have sworn the "M" didn't look like that, but i just looked in-game and... yeah. My bad. =o_o=

I don't know about anyone else but I'm holding my screenshots until the final day. It's not the shot I'm worried about someone stealing, it's the ideas!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm gonna follow you around in-game and take screenshots of you taking screenshots. Then submit the pictures a day before you do.

    WIN!

    =P
  17. Yeah, Mighty Lad seems to fit in that golden/silver age theme. Nice "M" mod... I wonder how it looks to everyone else?

As for the OP, imagine you had to draw the SAME character 100 times a month in different poses, at alternate angles, varying sizes, doing a wide variety of things (flying, hitting, speaking, walking, etc etc etc). Would you really want that character to have all sorts of multi-colored spikes and accessories?

    The answer is "no".

So, KISS... seriously, Keep It Simple, Stupid. =)

Also, if you're going for a military look, remember that there are military flack jackets and uniforms in the costume creator under "Armor" and "jackets", repectively. If all else fails, start with a "normal" military uniform, and modify it from there.
  18. Oh, another thing, along the lines of signing/watermarking: can we LABEL our pictures (IE, "Stop sign" "AV" "Emote")? So we can make sure that the judges don't miss something, especially if it's obvious?

I mean, I'd hate to get docked a point for not showing "Something blue" when the SKY takes up half the picture, y'know?
  19. Can we use photoshop to SIGN or watermark our pictures? I'd hate for people's pictures to get stolen and then have a huge fuss over who's picture it really is...
  20. Congrats to the winners!

... I knew he didn't have any cajones...
  21. Hey Nallek?

Your pics are WAAYY too small. They only take up half of my 10'x40' plasma screen TV.

No, seriously, shrink those suckers down a notch! Sheesh! They're pretty rockin' otherwise =)
  22. hmm, Ice/Thermal controllers.. i wonder how that would work out

nicely done! an great graphic card...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not really: it's a GeForce 6600gt. I dunno if that's even considered mid-range anymore. I turned on AAx4 for the screenshots, but the game isn't overly playable that way. Plus, i smoothed out jaggies manually when putting the characters together.

    [ QUOTE ]
Pretty cool. Some nice looking toons there.

Heeey where'd you get that brick texture? Is that custom texturing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's the sewer brick texture colored red. When editing your base, you can color any surface any two colors you like =)
  24. Hahaha! Flame and Frost, awesome sauce! Best issue EVAR!
