  1. When the AI fix happened and the Malta started using more powers, my reaction was "Oh, these guys are tougher now. I'd better start paying attention." Previously the extent of my attention to them was "kill sappers first!" Now I need to think about it, and doubly so when playing as/with the softer ATs. I think this is an improvement to the game. I wish every faction was like this, with enemies that actually require you to prioritize among multiple threats. They are the polar opposite of the council, where it's just attack nearest until it's dead. Do that against the Malta, you get what you deserve.

Not to put words in anyone's mouth, but it sounds like people think the enemies should just brawl so they don't have to worry about dying. The idea that Malta are unstoppable forces of doom is ridiculous. They are a threat now. They can be defeated and their higher threat level now rewards smarter play.
  2. I like GFS. I guess if you play a spreadsheet and need MAXIMUM XP/S then some folks say you should drop it? I don't know. I hate the sound effect though. HISS! FWOOSH! Sounds like a CoT ghosty thing. I like big numbers all at once, and GFS delivers that. Also one more place to throw in kinetic combats for that juicy s/l def.

I clicked on this thread, not knowing what to expect, and I was pleasantly
  4. Sorry OP, I was gonna make a big ol' post but I can't talk, just finished a pickup door mish team and now partway through a pickup Doc Q TF, what were you saying? Something about not getting teams?

    [ QUOTE ]
I go into all your fancy global channels and inquire there

    [/ QUOTE ]

Saying "Anything going on?" is not a good method of inquiry, by the way. Like others have said, figure out what you want to do and then make a team. I have never ever been unable to fill any team I started. This Doc Q I am running as we speak is a pickup group and it's rocking along nicely, only took fifteen minutes to get together, too.
  5. In fairness, it's misnamed; it clearly ought to be called WTF Kick, because I imagine that if someone performed that motion in front of me, ending with me kicked in the face and him standing tall and looking pretty, I would be thinking "WTF?"
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Nothing. They said the person used Jump Kick in his ATTACK CHAIN. Totally should've been using Jump Kick exclusively.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, the nub mistake was not knowing jump kick is an attack chain! /silly

What I meant by the comment, was that sometimes people do things with their characters that seem to gimp them outright (melee without status protection at 50?!), maintain LESS THAN OPTIMAL XP/S!!!11one (Jump Kick), and, heaven forbid, make power choices that don't obviously go with what I think their concept is. It's not a big deal and certainly nothing to go start a smug thread about.

Those running the asylum don't owe the patients an explanation for anything

Given the average quality of suggestions on these forums, we are all very lucky that the devs don't listen to us very often.
  8. My favourites:
Malta/Knives of Artemis, because they are powerful and diverse and make me feel like i am actually fighting a group of people who have an agenda and are trying to enforce it. They are challenging at times even to my softcapped scrapper, with their many tricks and their deent resistances and their end drains and their caltrops.

Vahzilok, because they are neat and dangerous. It's the only lowbie enemy group that gives me a genuine feeling of dread to engage. Embalmed, Mortificators that revive fallen enemies, and the chance of a boss with a stun aura all add to the challenge. I wish they were available throughout the level range.

    Least favourite:
Hellions/Skulls/Outcasts, because they are boring and outside of a very few specific mobs present no challenge or threat. I know the game needs the equivalent of rats to kill to get those first couple levels, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Circle of Thorns, because Oranbega is trash and tiresome to navigate Also, lots of their powers are annoying but not a threat, such as quicksand. Making a fight drag out is bad, especially when the outcome is not and never will be in question.

    Love/hate:
Crey because I like the diversity of the enemies but whiffing on PPs for what seems like forever is frustrating. I guess that's how they feel trying to hit my scrapper
  9. [QR]
Yeah, I don't care at all about this kinda thing. I've done an ITF with a stalker who had no status protection and used jump kick in his attack chain and kept my mouth shut. I'm definitely not going to think ill of someone who has a character that doesn't fit my idea of theme playing their game the way they want.

I'm seriously confused at why this would bother anyone at all. A witch with a rocket launcher is one well-prepared witch. Maybe their character has a well-developed RP backstory involving others that completely justifies their choice. Maybe they are farting around with the power, seeing what they think. Maybe their bio doesn't include every little detail about their character's concept. Maybe it's nobody's business but theirs why they picked the powers they did. And as previously noted, although the OP accuses people of lusting for power after 41, if that was the case, munitions wouldn't exactly be the go-to choice.
  10. I have a hero with the word Damn in his name. I've had God knows how many self-righteous idiots PM me to let me know they petitioned me, and I am still rocking that name. Not sure why you aren't allowed to use it in AE, but you ought to be.
  11. As far as I know, it's always only been wolf spiders.
  12. I love TFs. I don't care if they are speed runs, all-scrapper (my favourite), baby's first ITF, or whatever. If I have the time, I'm in. What makes or breaks it is how chill everyone is. If people are cool with whatever, it's always fun. People who freak out about dying, speedrunning, nonoptimal XP/s or whatever, they make for bad TFs.

    Hello there

Virtue: Lots of people, lots of RPers. Pocket D is a disgusting place full of degenerates. Full of blowhards that think their RP fantasy world trumps everyone else's game experience. Eventually, someone will [censored] at you about ruining their half-gargoyle/half-elf catgirl's costume with your ice shields. Never a lack of teams. Lots of farming. RP can be ignored, but it's always there, like a maggot in an apple.

Freedom: Busier than Virtue. Maligned as "Freedumb." Not actually as dumb as Virtue, speaking percentagewise, but sheer numbers mean the idiots are omnipresent. Very busy, RP easily avoided. Lots of farming. Can be hard to log in during events such as holidays or double XP weekends.

All others: *tumbleweed* Yes, really, compared to Freedom/Virtue, the rest are deserted wastelands where people plan TFs on the forums rather than just pick and choose from the many willing PuG members who also want that TF. Infinity is OK, assuming you play blue and generally only play during peak time, otherwise, hope you like soloing!
  14. I use /waiting a lot. Usually around tanks.
  15. [QR]
I'd take a /TA controller over a /Kin every time, no matter the primary, no matter the game content. It's been literally a week of daily TFs with /Kin controllers that will not use their secondary beyond SBing their pets (why?) and tossing out the odd FS. Useful things like Transfusion and Transference, never used at all. It's sad.

Actually I'd take a /TA controller over any other secondary just because I have a soft spot for TA
  16. [ QUOTE ]

It's almost as if you're deliberately trying to misunderstand few EBs as ALL EBs. I should slap you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The aforementioned defs have never had trouble soloing any EB. I'm saying that your corruptor shouldn't either. If it makes you want to slap me that you are an unskilled player, that's fine, and I am glad that you and I won't ever be in the same room. Are you this petulant in real life, or do you need the anonymity of the internet to give you the courage to be juvenile?
  17. I am not a fan either. They all look pretty bad to me, but some folks like them.
  18. Hero info is disappointing to say the least. Beating on a huge bag of hitpoints is tedious and not interesting at all. I'm hoping that the story issues are looked at very closely, because as it sits it's a wreck.

    edit:
    [ QUOTE ]

Finally, thank you for making some villain content that makes the heroes a wee bit jealous!

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's true, I am so used to the devs shafting redside that when it happens blueside, I am confused and frightened.
  19. No, I'm pretty sure that he's absolutely right. If you're struggling, it's not your powerset. Try different tactics, use more/different insps, whatever it takes.

Also, you keep slinging this contrariness thing around. It's not contrariness when your experience stands alone against the experience of many others. It's an indication that you are doing something wrong, especially in an environment so predictable as this game. If most folks have no issues with dark/dark, and you do, that means it's not them mucking it up.

edit: if my "weakest" defenders (ff/rad and emp/arch) can solo EBs, then for the love of pete, any corruptor can.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I noticed it too, also thought it was another person pissing them off for a second (people do that, no clue why) but then I saw a group spawning and immediately grab their shields. Bugged it too as it doesn't make much sense to me and it looks kinda stupid.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ever play a scrapper/brute/tank/stalker? Do you wait until you are engaged before toggling up your powers? Now that would be stupid. The Cims just got a little dose of l2p, that's all
  21. [QR]

What is the heroside temp power supposed to do? When should it be used? What is the big difference between teams that walk through this TF in their sleep and teams that pound on Reichsmann for an hour straight in frustration? Watching my wife last night, every time someone fired off the temp power, at least one other person remembered that they had it and fired it off immediately as well There was no rhyme or reason, and from my vantage point as a spectator, there seemed to be no indicator from Big R that it was time to fire off the raygun. I assume this isn't the best way to go about this.

Let's maybe have a little less "l2p" and a little more sharing of information here. I guess the redside has a bug or something, I don't know, I haven't any villains over 40. That side sure sounds like they have a more interesting SF, bugs or no.
  22. Gotta ask what the dealio is with the hero version. I have seen people posting times under an hour, but I just watched my wife's team (a PuG with two unskilled members but otherwise balanced-ish) take 1:53 to beat the thing. The last hour was entirely spent beating against a bag of hitpoints. Their team was two emps, tank, /kin troller, claws scrap, another claws scrap, psi blaster, and an energy blaster. The kin troller didn't seems to use their potential debuffs too much, and the team had no idea what the dimensional grounding thing was supposed to do. My wife figured it was the fix for his Unstoppable, but by the time the last 25% of his HP came around, most of the team had used their charges out of ignorance of its purpose.

I assume that ridding the team of the tank and at least one of the emps, and replacing with some radiation types would fix this issue? Sucks that this one seems to mandate a team makeup. I guess it will be all the sweeter when we all-scrapper it
  23. Got me a claws/inv, works real good. One thing that I played with was the benefit of having mobs in range of Invincibility vs. the benefit of having mobs on their butts against a wall via Shockwave. Best of all is having them on their butts in range of Invincibility
  24. I favour the codpiece, myself.
