If you actually want to do something about it, you can do two things.
Make a thread in the mmorpg.com coh forums and hope a mod notices it before the troll population does heh. But I wouldn't bet on that doing to much at all.
Then we have a more direct way of getting a point across.
Send a mail to community@mmorpg.com with your suggestion/complaint , that should go straight to the community manager. -
Sounds like an upgrade team for graphics and animations....
Next gen upgrade for COX
Ultima online have done the same thing twice so far ...there 3d client and the Kingdom reborn client.
EVE did it to with its premium graphics package.
...and currently Anarchy online devs are working on upgrading the graphics there too. -

Currently it's actually rather tough for a new player to get an EU account anyway....google and the other search engines don't help at all , tap city of heroes into any of them and your taken to the US site where you can purchase the US client and make a US account.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I google "City of Heroes" here in the UK, the top of the list returned is uk.cityofheroes.com. The US site comes second. It's easy to follows links from the first to make an EU account, but what's interesting is that the familiar EU and UK flag icons have been removed from the US page, making it difficult to navigate away from there to the appropriate EU page.
Anyway, like FFM I would have really liked new disks When was the last time? Issue 7?
[/ QUOTE ]
When I type in "city of heroes" I get this as my first search result
When I click on the link for a 14 day free trial I get this
Now there is a link on that page to refer interested EU parties to the EU site
But it's right at the bottom of the page.
When my browser loads the page I don't even know it's there..unless I scroll down....but why would I? The link for my trial is right in front of me in huge big inviting letters.
So if joe bloggs did go there...not knowing much at all besides the name of the game...it's about super heroes...and it looks fun...he's going to click that big shiny free trial clicky and end up playing on US servers...even though he lives in Birmingham.... heh. -

I utterly disagree with pretty much the lot of you.
You seem to have this idea that if they spent a fortune on getting boxes on shelves and advertising that the game will suddenly get tens, or hundreds, of thousands of new players.
It would, of course, get some new players but the only relevant question is would it get enough new players to justify the huge cost of doing all that?
And in the EU, I'm personally inclined to think that it would not. Many of you, apparently, think it would, but those are just opinions based on our perceptions. NCSoft, on the other hand, have actual marketing data and research. They're far more likely to be right than you, or I, are.
You do have to spend money to make money - but you have to spend it intelligently. There's a point of diminishing returns, after which spending more money does not make you money. It loses it. I would prefer to see them not doing that personally.
And that doesn't mean the game is doomed by the way.
All just IMO of course.
[/ QUOTE ]
In all honesty I think it would be better to just make a few deals with various PC gaming mags and bundle a 14 day trial disc..or even just a trail code with them...it's a hell of a lot more cost effective. -

But anyway what I said still stands even if it will be a download client for the EU....which version will it be.
[/ QUOTE ]
What would be the point? It'll download exactly the same way the game does now... No ISO image or anything like that; just a small updater that then downloads the rest of the game. You can already pay extra for the booster packs, so the Architect Edition download will be no different to doing something like buying the Mac Edition, really...
I'd have bought a physical box, as I really really want updated discs, but a download only? Waste of money, as I'm not really interested in the magic booster pack, none of my chars are magic.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes I know...but what your talking about is adding a code to an EU account that already exists , I'm talking about a brand new player. Will they get the CohUpdater.EU.exe or the CohUpdater.US.exe

Hey guys n gals...look I see a new box being shipped out as a good thing, EVE online our about to try this too....a game that is about as old as COX...also just as well known. The EVE playerbase see a new retail box as a good thing, it can only expand there payerbase and fun.
So i think the COX playerbase should see the retail box in the same light.
I am interested to find out which version of the client is coming to the EU shores though...EU or US...that would be very interesting to know don't you think?
[/ QUOTE ]
Please, read the thread. The new retail box is US only. We're not getting it, period.

I did read the thread...at least the start of it...I couldn't be bothered reading all the huffing, puffing, general doom mongering and name calling ...kind of puts a person off you know?

Civil services need a huge upgrade, methinks...
Y'know, OT but hey, things Id love to see if CoX ever got an engine update that could handle it;
Realistic traffic and pedestrians.
Cop cars heading to emergencies
Fire Engines/Ambulances, etc.
Y'know, proper city life. Suggested before, I know, so back OT.
More mission variety is good. /Signed there, certainly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wouldn't it be good if we could follow cop cars with their sirens blazing, to find we end up at the location of a 'hidden' mission (well, obviously the police know where it is). The police car could appear as a blip on our map that we follow maybe, instead of having a mission marker pop up...
It'd also be good for roleplayers perhaps.. You're stood there talking and a police car goes blazing past.. quick everyone, follow that car! Someone somewhere is in trouble and they need our help...
[/ QUOTE ]
I love this! Oh look! It's a domestic - what's that ma'am? Your husband is throwing plates around the kitchen and shouting? BLAM! Now he's dead, you'll have no more trouble from him! It's all in a day's work when you're protecting the innocents of Paragon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well...
This is an idea I've actually discussed with Kallandra.
You hear a siren...this time it's police car followed by an assortment of Swat vans and emergency services.
You follow them.
and get to a spot full of emergency vehicles...swat vans..and cop cars formed in what looks like a rather rough barricade around the area.
Swat team members line the roof tops.....paramedics run around trying to calm and heal anyone that looks like they need it....the fire service boys are over by various fire hydrants trying to make the darn things work.
Put it simply...organized chaos.
Slap bang in the middle of all this going on is the reason why everyone is here, one single generic AV ( choose a villain or hero from any bank mission ) has decided he/she would like to have a little fun.....with who ever comes anywhere near him.
So with the help of the various emergency services and some friends you subdue him and put him back from where ever he busted out from or came from in the first place.
Badges would off course be gained.
Kallandra and myself came up with a few.
Ambulance chaser.
Swat member.
Human barricade.
Negotiator
Too name but a few.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't care who's taking credit, but this idea is great!
You can't have Negotiator, though : http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Negotiator
[/ QUOTE ]
Well ok Negotiators taken ... forgot about that, but the badge names arent important.....well one is "Ambulance Chaser" we aren't moving at all on that one :P -

If we're going to have a rubber chicken, I feel we also need an enormous fish, also a rolled up newspaper.
Can you imagine the horror on Recluse's face if he were brought down by a squad armed with rolled up newspapers, rubber chickens and wet fish?

Oh yes I see what you mean!
Adding to my original post, we do also need new skins for the rifle so how about the various types of Super Soaker -
...Katana, Broadsword, Dual blades, Mace, war axe
This weapon model will also have its own audio effect when used and that is it goes *SQUEAK!* when you hit something with it.
Ladies and gentlemen I give you The Rubber Chicken

If your unsure about poking around inside the tower then I suggest getting a friend that knows a bit about PC's to come round and actually get inside that tower, I'm sorry but there is only so much we can do.....it's better to have someone there hands on than having us trying to sort it out ( and possibly doing more harm than good ) -
Play it safe, link one of the 2x 4 pins ..fire up the pc and see how the game performs...if that doesn't work...then link up both and fire up the pc again

Most of the higher end cards need to be plugged directly into the towers internal power supply ( there should be a lead supplied with the card )..if it isn't connected up to the supply then the card will not perform.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah I have this installed and the system details under My Computer says its working perfectly.
There is a 6 pin power adapter inside, with 2 leads from it, both with female sockets. Do these both need to be connected or just 1 of them ?
[/ QUOTE ]
I honestly can't tell you, I don't have the card or instruction manual for the card beside me...but you do heh
Check through the manual and see if that bad boy needs to be connected up. There should only be one lead supplied with the card so that means only one 6 pin adaptor should be connected...via the cable supplied.
BTW My Computer will state that the card is installed because the drivers for the card are installed...I doesn't necessarily mean the card is actually doing anything....it's just there -

As for the "server health" issue, it's not the servers, it's the ludicrously poor routing between the data centre and us.
[/ QUOTE ]
Continually shifting the blame on the poor performance of the EU servers does not make things any better. The buck stops with NCsoft they know where the problems lie and have the ability to fix it, they just don't seem to actually want to fix it....after all from what I can gather from there corporate site they pride themselves on giving there customers first class service. *snigger*
New and interested players don't give a carp about what's being routed where, they just want to play on a game that doesn't rubber band them and chuck them off the server every 10 darn minutes. -
[ QUOTE ]
I doubt it will tank as the beta doing great in korea and I presume the figures are for pre-orders. It may not do so well here though as it seems to be to all intents and purposes Lineage 3 and another grindfest.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is Lineage II... with prettier graphics and floaty light wings.
NCsoft are riding way to much on that title, there making the same mistake they made with TR.
As for the complete disregard of there EU player base ( I don't just mean us)... well the thing is we have been ignored for a long time now...for instance we have been playing on out dated servers for so long now, these servers can't break 200 users without threatening to have a ruddy seizure.
Server health alone has been a killer for this game, how many trial accounts have we had breeze through here in the last year? A lot ...but how many stayed? Not a lot.
Did anyone notice one of the biggest complaints from the trials was server lag and DC'ing?
It cant continue like this, the EU servers (to me) feel like they have been left to rot, even more so now we don't have any true EU representation.
OK rant over. -
