The day they implement offline SG invites is the day I cancel my second account. That's probably why they don't.

Quote:And that assumes a +0 enemy at level 50, correct? Both are less than the Assassin's Strike normal critical of 1946.4 (at the damage cap).
What would the largest possible single orange number that could be generated by a player power?
Level 50 stalker against a -res debuffed level 1 enemy? -
It might be Blizzard, assuming target is immobilized in the area of effect AND all of the tics hit.
I am not sure that the Blizzard pseudo-pet inherits all of the caster's buffs, so it might be enough of a special case to not really be the highest damage. Also, that's damage over time. If you are looking for the single biggest orange number, Blizzard won't even be close. But seeing a string of 150 small numbers is pretty amazing too -
Just don't be an Indian giver or Welsh on a bet around here either. Bad form.

And with the changes to Fury, your bar doesn't decrease as fast. So there's not as much frustration if you do need to pause for a moment to catch your breath or click a glowie.
I used to get so frustrated with brutes because I'd work hard to get my Fury bar up and by the time it got really high my endurance would be almost gone. So I'd have to stop (or slow down) and waste all that beautiful damage. That doesn't happen any more. -
Also, there is a skill involved in traveling while avoiding the high level enemies. You learn how far away enemies can spot you, and you start worrying about jumping over fences or rounding corners with out knowing what is behind them.
With practice, you can take a level 1 just about anywhere in the game, using just some care and situational awareness (and some luck).
Just about all of my level 2 characters make the trip through the Vanguard Base in Atlas Park to Peregrine Island, then through streets infested with level 45-50 enemies to make it to the Portal Corps door to get a jetpack. Sure, they occasionally get tagged by a sniper (that's the luck part), but most of them survive. It's fun! -
Quote:Actually, it is called a "soft" cap because you can get your defense higher, but it won't do any good. A "hard" cap would be a cap that you simply cannot exceed. For example, resistance has a hard cap of 75% for masterminds (higher for some other TAs). You literally cannot get more resistance.1) Softcaps are when you have high enough defence so that even level NPC's are at their minimum chance to hit you (Even level is at 50% and minimum is 5% so at 45% defence you're at the softcap (It's called the softcap because it is subject to defence debuffs and to hit buffs)
Defense doesn't really have a hard cap (well, it does but it is ridiculously high, like 200%). However, if you get your defense to 45% most enemies are at the minimum chance to hit so a higher defense doesn't do anything. Therefore it is a soft cap.
It is sometimes helpful to get your defense above 45% as a buffer for when your defense is debuffed. -
When I think of good thugs, what jumps to mind right away are the gang members who fought vampires in the Buffy spinoff Angel. Before he went to work for Angel, their leader was a guy named Charles Gunn. So I'd consider him a heroic Thug Mastermind -- actually probably started as a vigilante and went hero, but whatever...

Quote:I've only had it happen once, but then i don't run a lot of TFs. It happens more often than one might expect because Numina sends you to every zone, so basically a Rikti raid will interrupt some part of the Numina (by which I mean it isn't always Talos).I see this excuse come up every time this topic comes up, and I have to wonder: Even on the higher pop servers, how often does a Numina actually get interrupted? I really think it's way less than people make it out to be.
Far more annoying nowadays is the Boomtown segment, where the Council beat up the 5th Column before you can. It helps to be a fast ranged AE damage dealer. When my broadsword scrapper got assigned there by the team leader (who wasn't up for suggestions) it took her forever! -
The thing that seems to confuse people is the idea that you WANT the fame points to fade away. They are blocks to getting more tip missions. It is too bad that the interface doesn't make that more clear.
When it says "You will be remembered for this deed for 10 more hours" or whatever it says, it sounds like that's a deadline to get something done. So many people have complained that they can't log off because they don't want to lose all of their progress. -
You have no idea. Initially there were no ramps out of the moat. If you fell in you couldn't get out short of the Jet Pack or Hover.
-
It happened to me twice, but both times it happened when I was claiming multiple tip missions at once. By this I mean, I was in a regular mission and got two tip drops. I claimed the first one as Hero, then claimed the second one. I didn't notice that it showed up as a Vigilante mission. I did the first mission and got the Hero point, then did the second only to get a Vigilante fame point. Since I was a Rogue I didn't have a Vigilante progress bar.
When I claim multiple tips at once, I often have the second one "not take", and I have to go through the dialog again and select the mission again before the mission shows up in my list. I wonder if this is related. It only has happened to me when claiming multiple tips at once. -
Quote:Wow, how do you get to level 20 in Praetoria without ever going to the Underground? Resistance members especially spend a ton of time there, considering they have the three underground bases.Just tossing this out so you have a clue. At first I was lost on where to go...Underground? A B C? Well I chose the access that was related to my faction...so i guess that is what you must choose to use when you go underground. Not sure on this.
You can go Underground from any of the regular entrances (with the red and yellow icons named A, B, C, etc). those will take you to specific points in the maze of underground tunnels. The Underground is it's own zone (well, three zones actually), so you won't get a compass marker for the mission entrance until you actually get TO the correct Underground.
You can also go to the Underground through one of the two faction-specific entrances in each zone. The Resistance entrance is handy because it is closest to the Underground base. -
Quote:Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that was a bug. The final time I came over to Primal (last Sunday) I did it on a character that had three open arcs and two missions in the queue. In fact, I was in the middle of a mission when I dinged 20. I left the mission to level, got the Sheridan contact, said "screw it" and left for Primal. What happened to me was that I still had contacts with missions when I was offered the mission that sends you to Primal. When I entered the mission and was given the option of choosing Rogue Islands or Paragon City, neither door would open.
I exited the mission and finished my story-arcs and when I returned to that mission I was then allowed to leave Praetoria. -
Quote:I have the Jet Pack (actually the Raptor Pack) at level 1 via a quick trip to Shadow Shard/Grandville). I was gonna compare at level 10 and add in the Zero-G Pack, but then there are too many options to truly compare, with temp powers and stuff.By level 10, I've thrown the Jet Pack and Jump Pack on top of that.
And the Prestige Sprints, while they are separate powers, aren't really all useful. You really only need one of them. I suppose being able to change the effect is nice, but they're all the same in terms of gameplay.
Also, I initially listed the Prestige Sprints separately under the argument that they are as useful as Walk or the non-combat pet. But I decided to lump them together.
The comparison wasn't about combat effectiveness or usefulness. It was just about the vast number of powers available to a 69-month veteran right from the start. -
Yeah, a lot of those are available to anyone. I was just thinking about this when I set up a new character in Praetoria and how much of a leg-up my characters have over a new player's.
And in case anyone is wondering, I'm not complaining, nor am I bragging. -

Powers a new player character has at level 5:

AT Inherent Power
Origin Power

Sprint
Walk
Raptor Pack (purchased, if they know) -
To clarify, you don't need to finish your story arcs unless you are a victim of some kind of bug, as Forbin was.
When you move from Praetoria to Primal, all of your Praetorian contacts and outstanding missions/arcs should be removed. -
Quote:I like the idea a lot. It's good to provide incentives for people rather than punish them. However I can just hear the howls of outrage from players who want the goodies (badges, costume pieces, emotes, whatever) without having to delete a cherished or even a shelved character. From a behavioral standpoint and as a compromise that wouldn't harm dutiful, but inattentive players, what if there were a carrot provided for deleting old characters?
Say a bonus title, costume slot, or something of value that people could get for deleting a character over a year old that they don't want anymore.
Also, I imagine there'd be a number of people deleting characters named "SG Mule 1" or "Archery Test Man" in order to get the reward. I can't imagine there's anyone who will give up "Avenging Angel" or "Cobra" or "Captain Awesome". -
If what StarGeek says is true (/inspexecname requires the full name) -- and I have to believe it is -- then the problem is likely what Roderick pointed out. Maybe there is a bug where T2 or T3 insps get used when the T1 insps are called?

Yeah, I checked the timestamps but forgot they aren't local for my timezone.
