  1. Honestly, I swear you get better with every single art piece you work on.

I don't think I was posting here when ya left, but I recognize your name from artwork, welcome back!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I remember the video, still my favorite.
  3. that sounds most tragic, for all parties involved in this image.....

Very cool piece, it does indeed look like a still from a Comrade Hero cartoon.

...from what exactly was Comrade Hero saving the scientist...?

    [/ QUOTE ]

For some reason, the first thing that came to mind was an segment of Heavy Metal.....

The nice thing about his situation is poor Comrade Hero won't be able to yank anything off the Rikti for her to wear. Will he be a gentlemen an remove his clothing for her modesty?

Great piece, congrats to Comrade Hero.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Comrade Hero's origin isn't particularly original - it's a mishmash of Hal Jordan, the Six Million Dollar Man, and the Fantastic Four.

Test pilot take experimental alien tech enhanced SCRAM jet to the edge of earth orbit. Massive bombardment of Cosmic Rays destroy said SCRAM jet and send the pilot hurtling helplessly towards Earth!

Comrade Hero survives the 70 mile fall, creates a huge great in the Arctic and walks away without a scratch. Mutant genes activated (Invulnerability) and he's now infused with Cosmic Energies (Energy Melee) - Jeeper

    [/ QUOTE ]

The fact your character is a mishmash pretty much makes it original. There are only but so many ways to believably endow our characters with special powers, for the most part, I can pretty much guarantee they've all been done. What makes it original is how present the package. What aspect of the character do you focus on.

I don't recall running into any characters in game that look like Comrade Hero. His costume color schemes alone is unique.
I'm gonna say Comrade Hero is fairly original.
  6. Gotta love surprises.

Got the 2nd art piece from GammaKnight . It was not what I expected. As I stated on dA, he's the first artist to attempt to capture the "softer side" of Desmodas. Totally his idea, I would not have to thought to request it. I'm really pleased with the results.

I forgot to add, when all else fails, remember the old riddle:

How do you eat an elephant?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You unhinge your jaw and swallow that [censored] whole.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not the generally accepted answer but if your could video tape your attempts at such a solution you could obliterate all previous YouTube DL records.

In literature it's called "writer's block". Never heard the term for the artist equivolent, but it's essentially the same thing. I'd imagine the solution would/should basically the same; routine.

In psychology, they call it behavior modification. Kind of like setting up a bedtime routine for children and insomniacs. It's a series of steps/habits you follow everytime you plan to do something. Over time, the physical behavior will condition your brain pre-pare for the activity you're attempting "to modify."

Try to always work at the same time and at the same location. Even if you don't have an actual project to work on, still dedicate the "time slot." Other activities can be as simple as sharpening your pencils, inventoring you equipment. Maybe start out by drawing somethig simple every single time, (like say Mickey Mouse). Include activities not necessarily related to the work at hand, like brushing your hair, or brewing tea. The actual activity is irrelevent. What matters is consistency. Do it the same every single time. Eventually, you brain will be gradually stimulated into thinking "IT's CREATIVITY TIME"

This statement is so full of win, no matter how I chose to read it. I'll be watching for you to free up, we should talk then.

**lurks about your dA page anyways **

Image and Valiant were the new kids at that time, and used scads of silly "promotional" tricks such as variant covers, die-cut covers, hologram covers, etc., all to try to sell the same issue multiple times. And sadly, it worked. It's pretty obvious that the people willing to buy all 6 covers of, heck I dunno, Ninjak number 1 or something didn't really care about what happened between the covers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well Image and Valiant were hardly unique in the multi-cover specials. X-men's (not Uncanny X-men) first issue had 6 covers. Shortly after, the Phalanx Covenant cross over story featured 2 covers for every book, one with hologram cards in bedded and a regular cover without. I just recall these because they were the books I read at the time. I'd be very surprised to learn DC was doing things any different around that time.
  12. After lurking about the art forums for quite some time, I finally started commissioning some art work of my main character Desmodas Siazar. After admiring the collections of various others, I now have the makings of my own.

Now what's the point of having an art collection if you're not gonna share it I'm hoping to keep my budding collection growing, so figured it's time to create a thread to post the new pieces as I get them. You'll find my tiny collection over at deviantArt. Desmodos on deviantArt.

Today was a special treat for my collection, two artist completed works for it

Wassy being a regular here on the forums, posted the work she did for me in her art thread here. I'm gonna hold off a bit from adding the work to my dA page. I want to make sure her adulations are not misdirected. I'm thrilled with the work she did for me.

Most the folks here are familiar with the works of GammaKnight . He recently had a sale/promo that was simply too good to pass up. I was very pleased to find Desmodas by GammaKnight in my mail box.

I'm excited to announce, there's more to come.

    Desmodas

Just finished up this commission for Desmodos. This character was really fun to do and I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I cannot stress this enough, working with Wassy is simply the best experience I've had when it comes to commissioning an artist.

For someone like me, who understands little to nothing of the technical aspects of creating art, it's hard to be patient for the outcome. Wassy goes above and beyond what anyone could hope to expect when it comes to keeping her clients updated.

Usually, I get impatient, regardless of how reasonably accurate the artist predicted the finished product. With Wassy, I never felt that way. Her little updates seem to make the whole wait so much more fun.

Honestly, Wassy is in a class of her own.

    I got new art!

Lol - not for where I work.

    Seriously.

    Nice art though
  15. I've always had a fondness for Magik.

When I stopped actively reading X-men comics, she had been killed off and her story line down played considerably. Though by the Wikipedia article, seems she's making quite the come back.
  16. No no no, Tank you.

Looks great, especially love the disclaimer.
  17. Nice work Love the sock puppets, a cute yet freaky touch.
  18. Generally, you can get more usable screen shots out of the character creator or Icon/facemaker screens. It's very hard to set up in game screen shots that artists can use soley as reference for your character.
  19. I can't for the life of me find where it was posted, so I apologize for the repeat.

How do I create the Icon link on deviantArt?
  20. Looks great, Wassy.

I've been in a few clubs that look like that....oh wait guess that makes me look bad.

    8 Baller Video

    That vid rocked, very impressive.
  22. I demand this artist be kicked into the lime light, such good talent should not be absconded.

Give us some linkies or something? Does he have a DA page? Art ooglers cravings must be satiated!!!

'Grats on the commission thus far, looks great. Details on the sword are coming along nicely.
  23. Love the pose. She seems to be enjoying some attention. Very nice.
  24. Great idea, but the price is bit out of whack. $10 is simply too much for this.
