Couple of Comrade Hero pieces!

Comrade Hero

Two things...

1. I always love the see that wide variance in age artists give him (for me, I always pictured him as 40).

2. That secdon shot has an ... interesting... feel to it.

lmao *cleans sprayed soda off of keyboard and monitor*

Good point on the age thing Juggs, I thought it was just me at times when he looked a younger/older than I thought him to be.

Always cool to see a fight against someone a big name.

Comrade Hero feels a little worse for wear after taking a nuclear strike in the face

I always intended Comrade Hero to be a late comer to the hero game. His powers didn't activate until he was in his thirties. He was a regular Joe before that. A test pilot, cosmonaut, and aeronautical engineer.

Comrade Hero doesn't age now - so he's stuck in his mid to late 30's. Initially he felt a little out of place interacting with more experienced heroes who were half his age and had been heroes (and villains) since their teens. Again a deliberate decision for RP reasons

Interesting, that's pretty cool. I'm one that never really fleshed out my chars before I created them. Knowing me if I waited till that, most of my characters would exist as just name placeholders at the moment. I kinda came into the game with a plausible back story, and tried to develop one for each character as I found a new AT, power set combo to build. Only ones I intentionally really planned were the Heris, and even now I've found problems with consistency of my characters' stories intertwining. Who knew commissioning art would be a boon to tightening the stories. lol
I've only pre developed one character before starting to play her and now she's sitting on a shelf due to the other two not wanting to play our trio much. Just my luck.

Yer character and info sheets are pretty cool CH, thanx for the inspiration. Man I'd never survive some of the more RP developed chars and universes. there's prolly a million details about most of my char that could be asked and I'd be like.. I ahve no idea, I hadn't thought about that. heh

Comrade Hero's origin isn't particularly original - it's a mishmash of Hal Jordan, the Six Million Dollar Man, and the Fantastic Four.

Test pilot take experimental alien tech enhanced SCRAM jet to the edge of earth orbit. Massive bombardment of Cosmic Rays destroy said SCRAM jet and send the pilot hurtling helplessly towards Earth!

Comrade Hero survives the 70 mile fall, creates a huge great in the Arctic and walks away without a scratch. Mutant genes activated (Invulnerability) and he's now infused with Cosmic Energies (Energy Melee) - Jeepers!

The Fuzion LifePath is really good for rounding out characters. For years it was available under freeware license on the Internet until a disagreement between various parties led most of the Fuzion RPG products being withdrawn around 2000.

However, send me a PM if you're interested in learning more about the Fuzion LifePath system.

Covers everything from childhood, parents, personality, philosophy of life and events for each year of a characters life.

I was thinking that he's ticked off because someone dropped a few megatons on him. Either that or fallout smells bad.

heh originality aside, you still determined your character before ya played it, or for the most part had them determined. I tend to make up the info as I go on the fly while futzing through the character creation screens. I'm still making it up as I go, and still altering minor details to make the back stories fit. Like Herracane, my bubbler. As her concept of an alternate dimensions Heri, I made her history where her powers didn't appear naturally as Heri's did, so she turned to finding technology through her internships at D.A.T.A. and boom she has powers, just through technology. Sounds fine right? One minor detail, initially I was playing her as if she was in her own domension, but then I kinda subconsciously moved her to this Earth, clumping her with the other Heris. Minor problem... I never made a way of HOW she got here. I've cobbled up a Portal-related way of her getting her, which might be a glaring plot device to get her here, but I had to find some way. She's in that pic with the 10 Heris/Wherls zipping around and fightin lol

I think I found the LifePath system online here:

http://www.mecha.com/~conkle/fuzion/FuzionChar.htm

I've gotten most of my chars childhoods, personalities/outlooks on life determined. That I tend to sense while playing the character. The other details I tend to pick as I play the chars and find details that seem to mesh with the character and at the same time makes sense.

I'm not one for PnP determined chars so I don't like using dice to determine anything, although the various events listed for the possible dice rolls give ideas.

Determining Comrade Hero was easy as the genesis was constructed for the Classic Marvel RPG by TSR when I was at College. Although his name at the time was Severance and he wasn't Russian.

When City of Heroes was announced I started working on Comrade Hero - although I hadn't pinned down a suitable name I knew I wanted him to be a post-Communism Russian.

The fact your character is a mishmash pretty much makes it original. There are only but so many ways to believably endow our characters with special powers, for the most part, I can pretty much guarantee they've all been done. What makes it original is how present the package. What aspect of the character do you focus on.

I don't recall running into any characters in game that look like Comrade Hero. His costume color schemes alone is unique.
I'm gonna say Comrade Hero is fairly original.

I like those. I always kind figured him to be in his late 30's. One of the better efforts using the character creator I think. Not overdone but but really makes a statement.

Thanks for the kind words

Comrade Hero is a hero of like 5 years. He's almost twice the age of most heroes, and has a lot less experience. Be interesting to see how he would handle having to be put under the leadership/mentorship of a hero old enough to be his son or daughter but is a veteran hero already.

I'm exploring that dynamic in the Screen Writing Course as part of Diploma of Creative Writing.
