Quote:...If I've already done the Oroborous initiation with Pilgrim, is there a way of going back to it?
That's the whole point to the Ouroboros intro mission. It tells you how to go back and re-do things you have already done.
Yes, you can do the initiation again. Just go to the aspect pillar. -
Force bubble FTMFW.
You'll be amazed at how much that power increases your survivability. And yes, shoot for high defense. Keep bodyguard mode on. With six pets, you have effective 75% resist all damage. Any resists/defense on top of that compound very quickly. -
Quote:That is correct, you're not in BG at that time. If they are in follow, goto, or stay, you will be in BG mode. As soon as aggro is lost, your pets will return to follow and then you will be in BG mode.Just to chime in with a related question. From what I've read, this does not qualify as bodyguard mode, but just wanted to see what you guys say.
Bots are in Defensive, Attack my target. While in this state, your not in BG mode, right?
Sorry, pet peeve. -
Quote:Totally understandable. I was replying to someone else and you couldn't have known that the answer to your question was there without reading the whole thing. It was just easier for me to hit multiquote rather than find the link again.Well, I said it was a dumb question.... lol sorry, I think I somehow overlooked the last part of your post there. Thanks for pointing it out though!!!

EDIT: And it's not a dumb question. Sorry to be cliche, but the dumb question is the one you didn't ask. -
Quote:I already answered that here. Just read the link.Dumb question and mini thread jack... how do you do bodyguard mode? Is it just follow aggressive? I just recently got into MM's and see this phrase, but not sure if that's it or not?
Quote:Judging by your comments about leaving pets in aggressive stance and how you keep dying, I assume you don't know about bodyguard mode at all. Please read that link. You'll thank me later. -
What I said should still hold. Bots/dark is the only thing I would consider more powerful than bots/traps. Leave all of your pets in bodyguard mode and jump in first with darkest night and tar patch. By this point, everything is attacking but can't hit you. Even if they do land a few hits, you've got 75% damage resistance to everything and a heal. I would drop the personal attack because I don't think they do enough damage post-26 to even matter. Everything in /dark except black hole is worth grabbing.
Judging by your comments about leaving pets in aggressive stance and how you keep dying, I assume you don't know about bodyguard mode at all. Please read that link. You'll thank me later. -
Quote:Totally made my day, right here.Okay, went back and re-read it. It turns out I fail at read english total bad!

I R EN-GUH-NEER! I R know maths but not good explain things for other persons read them right.
Er, what I mean is I probably didn't write it well enough. -
Quote:Wait, what? I thought I explained that better.You fail at statistics! NEG-REP!

You don't add them together. The chance of being KB'ed is a subset of the total chance to be KD'ed.
The first case is the odds of getting knocked down only.
The second case is getting knocked back only.
Adding together is the total chance for some sort of knock, be it down or back.
EDIT: Perhaps better wording is this:
(.3*.8) = chance that punch does knockdown times the chance that KC does not do knockdown.
(.7*.2) = chance that punch does not do knockdown times the chance that KC does knockdown.
Adding those together is the total chance for knockdown ONLY. 38%
The chance that they both fire is not a subset of that because I include in the calculation the chance that the other does not fire. The chance that they both fire at the same time is (.3*.2), or 6%. Add that to the 38% for the total chance that some form of mitigation happens.
I do not fail at statistics. I spent enough time in the gambling industry to know my odds.
EDIT AGAIN: I don't want to come across as arrogant or egotistical, but I did feel the need to be a bit defensive. I am very sure in my mathematical knowledge. -
It'll do two things. It'll increase the changes of knockdown for every attack, but it will add that chance that they both fire at the same time and become knockback. I actually had the plan to use these sets on my SS/WP brute.
Take punch for example: 30% chance to knockdown, +20% chance to knockdown from the proc. Roughly a 50% chance to knockdown and a 6% chance at knockback, but let me do the math.
.3*.8+.7*.2 = 0.38 That's the odds that only one chance for knockdown will happen, so I was off by a lot. 38% of the time punch will knockdown slotted this way.
.3*.2 = 0.06 This is the chance that they both fire and your target is knocked back.
Add them together for the total chance to be knocked(back/down) and you get 44%. -
I've got bots/traps and the key to my strategy is leaving everything in defensive, jump into the fray before my bots, and letting bodyguard mode keep me alive.
By level 32, I was an invincible army of death. Before that, I was a slow moving steamroller. -

As a general rule, every set in the game is very well balanced.
Is dark blast going to kill as fast as fire blast? Probably not. Does fire blast have useful debuffs and controls? No.
To be honest, if you're looking for concept, but really want DPS out of the deal, go with the powerset that looks most "powerful" to you, and use customization to make it look like darkness powers. -

I pledge myself to this camp. Now if only I could figure out how to set the picture in my sig...
EDIT: Ah-HA! I got it. -
This is a truly epic plan. I volunteer to be one of the corruptors or the brute. Hell, even the defender, but I'm assuming you want that role.
-
I agree, I was going to stay out of the Resistance/Loyalist ForumRP, but this put me over the edge. I need to figure out where to get the anarchist sig banner.
-
All I know is my main "villain" runs his Corporation, a personal VG, and he is a rogue by every definition of the word. He should be doing the arcs to become labeled as such, and I would like him to be able to "hire" from either side of the morality line as he sees fit.
I really want him to be a rogue, but depending on how VGs are handled, especially since he is the leader of the VG, that could severely limit my options. -
I can attest that all traps can be used while hover is active, you just need to be on the ground to use them.

Quote:Quoting myself to ask if anyone has tried this. I've never actually done it so I don't know if it works. You can put hasten on auto and bind your w key to "+forward$$powexecname practiced brawler".
That way, anytime you try to move forward, practiced brawler will try to fire.
I can't tell whether I made up this trick or if I'm vaguely remembering someone else who posted it a long time ago, so I'm not going to take credit. -
You could use the lockdown proc as well for a (very slim) chance at a mag 7 hold in one shot, and an increased chance at the mag 5 hold.

Wait, so now we're disagreeing with each other about whether this is a topic that we can agree to disagree on? This is doomed.
I hereby declare that this thread is possessed, and no conclusion will ever be reached by continuing. Please stop. Save yourselves. Go away. Stop typing.
What am I doing? I should be gone.
See what this thread has done to me? Even aware of its demonic influences, I cannot help but continue the epic flamewar that has started.
I'd weep for my sanity, but I don't have enough sense left. -

Quote:I can see the value in flying fast, but I see it as a QoL enhancement, not necessarily a useful enhancement. Throwing in the end reduction in combo is also very nice, and since it's a split enhancement, you get more "total enhancing" than just one IO.Yep works very well too. I prefer the End/Fly combo because I like flying slightly faster, but that is a very good idea.
I know you already know all this, I'm just kind of... well I don't know what I'm doing.
Anyway, the real reason for me to pop back in this thread is for an update on my warshade. That cheap build is all but "finished." I say that in quotations because the character is only level 48, so there's still three more slots and a LOTG mule to pick up yet. I've got everything I need so far except for two LOTG recharge bonuses and a few other flair pieces. It amazes me how quickly you can burn through 350 million influence. Ok, so it's not cheap, but it doesn't have purples.
I've already seen an incredible improvement. I mean, I went from common IOs, Basillisk's Gaze, and two Impervium armors to the build you see overnight. I now have more recharge from set bonuses than I get from hasten. Eclipse is up surprisingly often. In dwarf form, I can stack mires. Considering how powerful I felt before... now I feel... über. I feel on par with my bots/traps, except that I don't have to wait for an entourage of pets to catch up. Actually I do. Well, I don't have to wait for the fluffies, but they're nice when they're behind me. Point is... wow I feel like a bottle of awesomesauce.
I just want to thank everyone again for the advice I've received. I am very happy with the results!
