Hey I got a level just by looking at Stormy's avatar. Cool.

Quote:I would offer help but it would be good to know what it is you're looking for. I'm guessing you must have something in mind, to come to the conclusion that you don't like the builds you've seen. So if I tried to help I'd probably show you a build you've already seen and didn't find to your liking.Looked through and I just can't seem to find two builds that I would want to use. Yes, two. One for my SoA/Bane and one for my SoA/Crab friend. You see, we both play them together and I am trying to find a build for both versions that can support each other without too much overlap.
So anyone up for the challenge of two builds that complement each other when played together that is i19 friendly?
Thanks!
Here's my entry to the challenge:
1) Make a Bane
2) Make a Crab
3) Both take TT:M (Take all the TT: powers actually)
4) Team up -
Not sure what you're sorry about, no need to be apologetic. Can you show me where someone in this thread said Cold was "best"? Not sure what you're referring to.

Quote:I'm not sure why I'm even bothering to reply if it "escapes you". Invul increases defense as foes are in range. I can get to capped e/ne with 4 foes. Nothing will increase Psi. If you don't get that, well, I can't explain any further.
The logic behind going to such lengths to soft-cap Psi defense but leaving E/NE at at 40% escapes me; E/NE damage is something like 8 times as common as Psi.
As far as offense, thank you for comments, I'm content with it. -
Thx, I settled on Build C, the one with soft-capped Psi, just did my "pre-spec" to move out IOs I won't need.
As far as Health and Stamina go
Under either scenario, Health will be 4 slotted with 3 Numis (unique, Heal, Heal/whatever's cheapest) and one Regen Tissue (unique). Stamina 3 slotted with Perf Shifter (End Mod, proc, End Mod/whatever's cheapest).
Syntax42 I looked into your suggestion and I think it's pretty good. The 3 Numis in Health were for Regen and +HP bonuses. Moving a Numi out and adding an Imp Armor Resist/Endurance in RPD gets to 89.2% s/l res.
I've always thought the Glad Armor unique was waaaaaaay overpriced, but dang if it doesn't make all the difference for this build. Looks like I won't be selling the one I'll be getting shortly from A-Merits.
Anyway, this is it (always subject to revision of course)

Ok, here's Build C, the Psi-capped Invul tank!
Code:There are "iffy" parts to it. With the prior 2 builds I submitted, I wasn't too worried about the low Acc slotting due to Kinetic Combats, since I had Rage. It occurred to me I only had 2 powers that didn't give the Tank-ish bonuses I was looking for - Dull Pain and Rage. Dull Pain of course, is non-negotiable, but, for the objectives I gave in my OP, do I really need Rage? I don't think so, so I swapped it out for Hurl Boulder to slot Devastation.| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1423;719;1438;HEX;| |78DA9D946D53125114C7EFC212F22410222A8A681AE2C32AD54C5633596A8D4E328| |3C2F4AA6210AEB0490B038B69BDE903F4157AD5E35768FA169565BDE9A3D079B830| |CDF8AE1DF6FFBBF7ECD9FF3DF7EC5CB2C79B7E215EAD09CDBF512FB5DBC542C93A9| |4AD816CC72ED966C3F26CC94A551E74AC8A5B0891E0A7C54D7920ADB634B6ADA34E| |DD92ADD2BE5937ED93B87A9C9575298D7CA709E3BCDD9256D5AE85B7AD9A84A16DF| |406FE5CA351377664A9695AD5004DEE9BD59A0DB360EF5145B6DA35B3C94FB3B262| |964D4BC6EE35CDB2B1DEEAD8B2986F74EAC56CA96DCBD6C908549886FB9B0744835| |B749D22058394189E61A409A939C2A257A80BF2728069E1D865E4097A81F0DDA3EC| |4457D70A30CA88813C6397E0DD233FEF2AA4E84E6180AF53F93AD95767DF0B7B0CB| |6FF0ABE2EAED3E1E29206B9C02497FB0312DC6A236E0E4D71DE146F2BCDE9CBB0A0| |871774796A0E2CC96F329E12060F09C96784749DF0135EF1A9E57D6C3BCF8BCCB3E| |D307CF2002788409476AA4128C82B39825B800911DA663C209C816958D328217C9D| |FB71B147F6C840B511556D84DB33C4ED19E2F68C9F39D02AC95D9A3AA59913568EA| |A5E44B9CC712E33C1BD48CC1274C88BA9BC5888161CE1754722844498F00B0A1D55| |BB1FE584B121062784C128AE761FE784981B2BE1D044DC89A1DF6033A9429357287| |4D58B65F3FEA6DF0A0CCDBC23A4DF13E63F10963E12329F08D7E0AD59F5D6EC1185| |2E3F671C334E08A9178C978432AC38A7DE9A5BA4CFBAB8C43018CB84A5154686F00| |78EFC822A7A417D9C0370329493719BD296D718771877099975C606E114B6BFA29A| |B4826D9F10E37AFF54C10F2EB1732E92D3FB27CAA551E4D2399DF947D37AFF44773| |DA1FEE9FADFEBB3BF67E7D9C3FF80024A0E447B88A347288F71FA0447251CEDA394| |71DAFDE2EF6D27B88A75DD40B989720B250AF589D798E9F681F850FC28019441942| |04A0825823286F206A5FB17BA5D07D9| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
Now, the Accuracy of Jab and Haymaker are a concern, but I think I can live with it. Global Acc bonuses aren't all that great either (The purple sets I chose just HAD to be the ones without 15% global Acc). Invinicibility should help.
Just for yucks I switch to Soul Mastery, I figure a good 1-slot power would be Darkest Night and Gloom is... Gloom. -
Thanks Dechs, I'll definitely check out that tool, looks very helpful.
Syntax, I don't have a problem posting the builds. I was wary of doing so because
a) I'm not using the unofficial version of i19 compliant Mids and
b) I wanted to focus on the questions in my OP, rather than a full build review
The Regen numbers I posted were based off of a temporary build I made where I added in Fitness and took out 3 powers that didn't contribute HP, Regen, Endurance or Recovery bonuses.
Stilll, here's Build A, with the 42% Psi Def:

I'm just getting around to finishing up my i19 build for my Inv/SS Tank. Though Tank is by far my least favorite AT, this particular character is the first I ever created, my first 50 and my Global namesake, so he gets the royal treatment to have as good a build as he can.
My intention for him is to be a true Tank, not a scranker, not a farmer, but someone capable of owning aggro and surviving the game's toughest encounters with little to no support.
For this build, I'm striving to make a "no weaknesses" Invul tank. So, among other things, I'm building up Psi Defense. I'm very pleased with what I've come up with, but I'm at a crossroads. Basically, I can take a patron pet to slot with Soulbound Allegiance and get to 42.2% psi def (let's call this "Build A") or I can go with Energy Mastery for Physical Perfection ("Build B"), which lowers my Psi Def to 38.3 but increases Regen from 309% to about 345% and bumps up all my other Def numbers by about 1% by redirectng some slots into Maneuvers and CJ.
With Build A, any teammate with Maneuvers will soft cap psi def, but that's not quite true for Build B. Conversley, a small purple accomplishes the same thing for either.
Build A needs 4 enemies in Invinc range to softcap e/n, 3 for f/c.
Build B needs 3 enemies to softcap e/n, 2 for f/c.
For what it's worth, I'm considering the Mu Guardian for Build A. He heals, but I doubt he'd survive the encounters I'd need him for (Freedom Phalanx, Lord Recluse).
So, I'm truly torn. At the moment, I'm inclined for Build B, but I'm easily swayed. Any thoughts from Invul vets, especially those that have built up Psi def? -
Cold is far more than a single target specialist. Sleet by itself is enough to shed that notion, then there's Heat Loss and Snow Storm. Cold is a great single target debuffer (surpassed only by Poison) and as strong as any other for AOE debuffs. That's why Cold is by no means overhyped.
-
I'm going to /sign this too. I'll further request any new set(s) provide some decent recharge too (not global, but just for the power). Currently only the PVP and Purple sets provide more than 26.5% (at lvl 50) recharge. That's just... inadequate. I'd like at least 50-60% recharge from a set.
While I'm making a wish list, I wouldn't mind also seeing a set that emphasized range, somewhere around 35-45% total. -
Above someone says Rad would be easier to "team with" and I'm not sure what the basis of that statement is. There's hardly a team friendlier buff/debuff set than Cold.
My own 2 inf is that an Ill/Cold (which I've never made, though I have experience with both) would have a higher upside than an Ill/Rad. Get the mega recharge (and it ain't cheap by any standard) to perma PA, Benumb and Heat Loss, and I'd say that's a better toolkit for AV/Hero/GMs than Rad. Benumb especially offers debuffs (-Special most significantly) that Rad simply doesn't have. With Heat Loss + multiple Sleets, Cold creates a far more devastating Resistance debuff than Rad can. Really the only aspect Rad debuffs over Cold is -ToHit, which is almost irrelevant against those critters.
On another thread here, that I started about trouble soloing Lord Recluse, someone mentioned Baphomet as problematic too due to his heal. Benumb just might make that less of an issue (don't know for sure). -
Goto commands are temporary measures at best. And by temporary, I'm talking about 2-3 seconds at best. I don't want Bots in melee and I absolutely don't want my Thugs (sans Bruiser) in melee. It's simple geometry why these pets need to be at range, there's certainly no advantage to them being in melee, outside of FFG. I'd rather they be doing max damage and I'll worry about their protection.
Even if I'm not having to "resummon all the time" these pets are not performing as well as they did. I've said it before, I've retired from MMs, with some special exceptions, until there's some fix. -

Another Warden that can drop a Stone tank with a quickness is the Sonic, who drops a Liquefy patch. Liquefy + Disruption Fields = pain.
-
Sure, any of my toons that don't currently have Fitness won't get any major changes. A Numi Unique in Health, basic IOs in Stamina, Swift and Hurdle and call it a day.
-
Yeah she's grown up good. I don't know why, but sometimes when Greta was on screen, it was clearly Summer, but other times, I had to ask "Is that really her?"
I have to admit, I was hoping for some Summer vs Sarah action. Really really hoping... -
I too just put on my "gimped Corruptor/Defender" hat and go petless until the pylons all go down. Any secondary can still contribute to the pylon destruction, Pain is no exception with its PBAOE heal and buff.
-
I spent about 5 minutes of spamming Deceive on him before initiating combat. He seems immune to Confuse effects. I didn't check his attributes, but he was right beside a minion and never attacked it.
-
I took my Ill/Rad over to the vill side to go through Scirocco's arc to go big game hunting.
All the AV/Hero fights went by the usual script: Use your 1-2-3 blast chain and recast PA as needed. Break LOS if there's no Phantasm at the moment you recast.
Then there was Recluse. The fight starts off as any other, he gets to about 1/2 health about as fast as the other AVs. At about this point he summons, which seemed to be managable enough - perhaps a boss Bane that I could Confuse. Even a second wave could be contained - Spectral Terror could Fear the Lieuts and Minions and I could try to Decieve Bosses. Eventually though, there would just be too many summons and PA would lose Aggro and I'd have a spider looking dude in my face (soon to be walking away from my corpse).
I eventually gave up, decided to use overwhelming force and summoned a Shivan, Warwolf and Amy. Pwning resulted.
Still, resorting to temps was unsatisfying. I'm posting this to ask the Ill/Rad crowd what their tactics were for dealing with LR.
Let me just say, in advance, my intention is not to open up an opportunity for chest-thumping here. If you're wanting to say "*shrug* I'm super 1337 and had no problem with LR" then I'm not very interested in hearing it. I do want to hear what strategy someone used to deal with the issues I mentioned, most specifically when PA can't keep all the aggro. I'm trying to abide by the "no insps" clause. -
Quicksand - This is autohit to Acc does nothing. Just slot with a Slow or Recharge or Endurance. Same is true for Snow Storm, except definitely use the slot for End Reduction.
I guess you're going for the Accuracy buff with all the LOTGs in Hover. Earth/Storm is a massive Def debuffer so chasing Accuracy bonuses aren't as critical. I'd move 2, maybe 3 slots elsewhere.
If you're looking for Ranged Def, then 6 slot out those Thunderstrikes in Lightning Storm and Hurl Boulder. That's 2.5% more there.
One more Dark Watcher's in Earthquake will get you a 5% Rch bonus.
To be honest, I can't view the build in Mids where I am (work) so I can't see the "big picture". I think my first 2 points are relevant regardless of build goals. -
...is getting savaged in reviews. I don't mean like "this movie doesn't quite deliver on its promise" but rather more like comparing it to a lesser SyFy channel Saturday original movie.
I had hopes it at least wouldn't suck. I'll be saving my $12 and maybe catching it on HBO. -
Just weighing in to give my thumbs up to this show. When I see it on my TiVo, I watch it right away, fun stuff.

I hate the way the pets scatter. One will go 20 feet to my right, another 25 feet left and behind me, yet another 10 feet on other side of the spawn point (in LOS of new spawn...).
I wish there was a "suck it up and deal with it" mode, where they'd just stay put in caltrops or fire patches and still attack.
MMs are my favorite AT, by a long shot. I love playing buff/debuff sets and I love playing RTS games. An MM is sort of a way to combine the 2 in this game. However, I'm done with them. I'm not making new MMs, it's just too frustrating. I'll still bring out my old ones now and then, especially my 2 "main" MMs, but no more newbies. -
I never ever give Sonic Siphon more than 1 slot, for Acc. It doesn't stack and recharges quickly enough on its own, not even considering the global rch you have. Move them whereever, I'd probably put one more EndRed in Disruption Field. Another Fly speed for Hover/Fly perhaps.

I stopped collecting comics about 2 or 3 years ago, but I'm a freak for Thanos. I'll definitely be looking for this.
