Quote:I look forward to reading the responses to thisAs long as your switching take PoN, LES, and EXILES with you and maybe PvP will grow on this server.
Elf'er did PvE? Who knew?
Met with EXILES for a pvp match the other day and had to cancel it. You guys never learn, you dont challenge a 2 WEEK old pvp sg then show up with 7-8 Uber-Purple lvl 50's with no intention of making the teams fair and expect others to compete.
PvP never became popular because of this attitude. You are bullies and PvP is not dead, it never was alive to begin with.
I talked with Pingu the other day and he said they had challenged Stryke-Force to Base Raids and PvP but Stryker always said not interested. I asked Stryker 2 yrs ago why we did not PvP or Base Raid, he said "There is no point to it". Hate to say it but Stryker is right! There are no benefits, it is boring, and the players who do it are way to often juvenile. -

Edit: I meant to swap the slotting between GFS and scorch. No difference in set totals.
Edit: Anyone see a way to get cremate in there to use instead of scorch without sacrificing too much? -
In this build I obviously went for softcapped defense which wasn't hard. Next I went for recharge and was able to get 1 second off perma-haste. After that, I went for HP and regen and this build will regen a little under 27 per/second. Max HP is at 1777. My ST attack chain will be Scorch-->Incinerate-->GFS. This build is pretty much a mutt build capable of high ST damage and I took FSC to give me some AoE
-
Not to mention DP doesnt have a big end cost and it gives you a big regen boost
-
Quote:To clarify, I didn't mean to imply Spines' DPS was affected by redraw. I just consider redraw an annoyance.
I wouldn't personally pick an epic AoE on Spines, simply because I usually have plenty to do with Spine Burst and Throw Spines, considering I constantly maneuver in and out to maximize Throw Spines and the damage auras, but if I were to pick one I'd still go for Body Mastery. Energy Torrent does almost as much damage as Fireball, recharges faster, adds mitigation with knockdown, and as you're going to have to move to maximize Throw Spines already the fact that ET is a cone rather than a targeted AoE is irrelevant, at least to me... and you still get to enjoy CP/PP, and focus more on offense with slotting (be it through damage procs/recharge over end reduction, or more set bonuses).
You may want to lead off with energy torrent since /fire is a bit weak (survivability-wise). The KD from ET will prevent them from attacking long enough for you to fire off throw spines and spine burst which ought to kill all minions and possibly Lts depending on the lvls of the baddies. It should help your survivability a fair amount since you avoid the alpha, and if you throw the force feedback proc into ET, it will help your recharge a fair amount as well -
Quote:Ah yes that would make much more sense. That IO is still great in AoE KB powers but I agree that it wouldn't help all that much to put it GDPretty sure he meant the Force Feedback chance for +recharge. I believe those used to be bugged so that they fired 100% of the time instead of 10% of the time, or something like that.
If you find you have enough survivability without DA you may want to consider using the GC-->GD-->GC-->SD attack chain. That's what I use, but be warned, your health bar will not thank you. -
Quote:Are you referring to Luck of the Gambler: +7.5% recharge speed?I'm not a big fan of the +recharge IO. It use to be great when it was bugged, but now I don't see it being much help.
If those are the power order you're going for, maybe you could put that Kismet to CJ and I suggest try working in Resilience earlier for exmping down.
Edit:
Of course... since it takes me 20 minutes to write 1 sentence, someone was bound to come in and re-arrange things ...
The LoTG global recharge IO is still one of the best enhancements in the game -
What exactly do you plan to use this build for? Regular all-purpose PvE? AV soloing? Just normal soloing?
-
On invuln the only power that you can really skip is Unstoppable. If you skip resist elements you'll be fine most of the time, but if you fight any cold/fire enemies, you are gonna have a big hole in your survivability
-
Pretty much correct. Some players like Spines because of the slows and ranged attacks
-
Quote:You're right. If you take out the best power in the set (invincibility) it does become much much weaker. Excellent observation.Color me not impressed - a build built to handle s/l against hand picked s/l AVs with mobs standing around to fuel SD and invincibility just reiterates what everyone already knows : when the enemies match up to your strengths dealing with them is easy.
Try the same build against non s/l AVs and without mobs to buff SD/Invinc and the tune will not be so pretty. Invulnerability is anything but invulnerable when it comes to non s/l damage and the set relies heavily on invincibility to survive any serious incoming non s/l damage.
If you retune the build to handle non s/l damage, you could probably get similar results however.
And way to go Nihili! Maybe I ought to invest and try this build out on my own DM/invuln -
-
Why DM/elec you ask?
Well, I am sick of regen so that's a no-go. Defense builds are terrible so shield and SR are both out. I have played WP waaaayy too much in PvE and I have no desire to lvl one up again so that's out (I also hate not having any self-heal). That leaves it down to Fire, Invuln, or electric. I ultimately chose electric because I like some of its side benefits. For example, elec gives me extra recharge, resistance to slow effects, psi/toxic resistance, teleport resistance (Does anyone still use that though?), and a decent self heal.
I chose DM mostly because I don't see them too often, and want something different than typical scrappers (like fire, BS, etc.) Plus, it has nice immob and fear effects to help take out some pesky runners.
Now onto the build itself:

In the build I went primarily for recharge with a secondary focus on max hp. I was able to get hasten 1 second off perma and energize 2 seconds off perma. So with energize on perma I regen about 30 HP/sec, which isn't too shabby by my standards. Also, by running an attack chain of of Siphon Life-->Laser Beam Eyes (Or smite)-->shadow maul I will be gaining an extra 200 HP every 6 seconds (I rounded the numbers a bit). Not to mention getting energize every 30 seconds
My resistances are all over 60% aside from toxic (Which is rare enough I shouldn't have a problem), with cold and energy being at the scrapper cap. So overall my survivability should be good.
Overall damage should be good as well with the SL-->LBE-->SM chain. Shadow Maul hits like an f'n truck with its nice long animation time. Plus, the procs for -resistance will go off fairly often to give even better DPS.
Any comments/suggestions? -
Quote:the lack of a nail, meant the horse shoe was not fitted,
the lack of a horse shoe, meant there was no horse,
the lack of a horse, meant the letter was not delivered,
the lack of a letter, meant the war was lost.
that small bonus gives 3.5 more damage per second, which over half a minute is 105 extra damage, and thats without hasten and build up. It may seem small but, as i've suggested small changes can make big differences =)
i appreciate the help though, i'm jsut not sure what else would work well in that slot. Plus surely you don't need much more than 133% accuracy when the default base is 75????, thats quite close to double the accuracy.
You sure your math is right there chief? Also that analogy doesn't really apply as that is an extremely specific case in which a small change made a big difference but it doesn't mean all small changes are going to make big differences. -
This is the build that I created....I basically decided that if I wanted a survivable scrap I would pick SR or WP, etc. so I did not bother adding defense to make it a survivable build. Instead I focused on recharge, and not using expensive IOs. This build will have a higher dmg output than your build, but be much less survivable. It will have near perma-energize though so it has a nice amount of regen. And it will cost a fraction of your build. So basically you have to make the decision of whether or not you want survivability or dmg/cheapness.

In the build I included the armageddon proc but that is certainly optional. A great, possibly better alternative would be the eradication acc/dam/rech enhancement. (Too lazy to do math to see which would be better) -
Yeah definitely claws....only advantage elec has over claws is that it's less resisted
-
I think the general consensus is that it's better to rush in, however corner pulling CAN be a viable option if the tank is experienced and knows what he is doing. But corner pulling is rarely faster/easier than just jumping in.
-
Actually, thinking about it more, a shield tank could be more viable on a team than an invuln because of the higher dmg output and grant cover.
-
Yeah but invuln is much stronger than shield if built correctly. No softcapped invuln tank is going to hesitate about running in or taunt from range
-
Funny how the people said this thread wouldn't last because it's stupid
-
I agree with bronx. the build you are currently using is very strong but I feel that making it tri-form would be better. Double mire, eclipse, and nova all at once? Pure sexxeh
But do whatever is the most fun for you -
Quote:So you are going to quit the game PURELY because you don't like the booster packs? Sorry to stray off topiclol if i was jealous i would just buy it... The $15 monthly fee is supposed to cover extra content, if not may I ask what exactly I am paying for? So I'll go play another MMO, I've been meaning to try Aion anyways.
Hopefully there are a couple more people like me, and this ends up costing them money in the long run. But, I doubt it. -
How much cash are you willing to spend on it?

Its not called melolee for nothing in pvp.
Ive spent 1000's of hours in pvp in all iterations in this game. I'll play any toon and that fire/rgn wont get any attack on me if I dont choose to let it. /regen is the only reason to consider it for pvp.
Are you saying you can take any toon and not let yourself get hit by a fire/regen? I would love to see that -
Lith can choose. I rarely come up with creative names. Most of my toons are named something like "Tanker Mebs, Dark Mebs, Arctic Mebs, etc."
