Blaze or Body Mastery for Spines/Fire?

So overnight, it seems, my Spines/Fire went from being a weak, albeit AOE, minion muncher to a really terrific all-around AOE muncher. However, as I add more toggles, even Stamina isn't keeping up with my endurance issues. As I approach 41 (only 23 now), I was planning on taking Blaze Mastery so that the Fiery Embrace from my secondary could rock the fire damage on the new fire attacks from the APP. But I'm beginning to think that by the time I reach 41, there will be no way, even with END reducers in most powers (which I HATE having to slot), that I'll be able to constantly run with all my toys. This would lead me to take Body Mastery as my APP which has two endurance reducing powers in it, and should allow me to spam my pointy flaming goodness with fewer issues.

So has anyone reached the point where they have tried these options, and/or has anyone done the math? Does FE boost Blaze so much that I am immolating mobs so fast that the end I use doesn't really matter? Or is it the more prudent route to take Body Mastery, and maybe be even to drop a few end reducers out of powers in favor for an additional damage or recharge?

I appreciate your thoughts.

I didnt even take an epic pool. i simply could not fit it in.

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

CP is a simple way to get rid of your endurance issues in normal PvE, and on a spines/fire you've got enough AoEs to make Fireball a minimal boost at best (esp. as it forces redraw). It's certainly possible to make spines/fire/blaze work, but I think the tradeoffs wouldn't be worth it compared to the slots and power selection choices you'd save going Body Mastery.

Redraw on a Spines/ doesn't effect one's DPS however.

Yes, it causes redraw, but it doesn't slow you down like it does on the other sets.

I don't understand this. If you're using SOs then yeah, I can understand how this can be an issue, but cheap IO sets have a lot of end redx built into them. Stuff like multi-strike, which 6 slotted, have like 75-80% end redx built into it depending on the level of the IOs. And the sets are cheap and never go red.

Throw spines can take the cheap Detonation and Airburst sets. The Dmg/End, Acc/Dmg/End pieces can provide effective end redx without sacrificing offense. Ripper, Quills can take Multi-strikes and Impale can take a whole bunch of cheap ranged damage sets (Ruins, Tempests).

There's really no reason why you can't be endurance efficient with just stamina unless you've self limited yourself by just sticking with SOs.

Good point on the IOs. I would like my build to not depend on IOs, but you've made me rethink. Question though is whether the fire attacks are worth the trade-off. Sounds like if I could work in IOs, you might recommend Blaze.

I do!

Does it cause redraw? Yes. But seeing as how Spines/ is currently uneffected by redraw, I say add more DMG!

Unless you're farming lvl 49's for purples (and even then, likely when you are)...I would find additional AOE helpful.

To clarify, I didn't mean to imply Spines' DPS was affected by redraw. I just consider redraw an annoyance.

I wouldn't personally pick an epic AoE on Spines, simply because I usually have plenty to do with Spine Burst and Throw Spines, considering I constantly maneuver in and out to maximize Throw Spines and the damage auras, but if I were to pick one I'd still go for Body Mastery. Energy Torrent does almost as much damage as Fireball, recharges faster, adds mitigation with knockdown, and as you're going to have to move to maximize Throw Spines already the fact that ET is a cone rather than a targeted AoE is irrelevant, at least to me... and you still get to enjoy CP/PP, and focus more on offense with slotting (be it through damage procs/recharge over end reduction, or more set bonuses).

Energy Torrent compliments Throw Spines exceptionally well. The knockdown from it is actually very, very refreshing when/if you need it.

You may want to lead off with energy torrent since /fire is a bit weak (survivability-wise). The KD from ET will prevent them from attacking long enough for you to fire off throw spines and spine burst which ought to kill all minions and possibly Lts depending on the lvls of the baddies. It should help your survivability a fair amount since you avoid the alpha, and if you throw the force feedback proc into ET, it will help your recharge a fair amount as well
