As of right now, I have no use for GR.

Do you see how adding this feature would make the devs more money?
So you would rather not be able to have a Brute heroside AT ALL if you can't start the Brute heroside? Now you're just being childish.

You can have your heroside Brute with GR. Not exactly the way you want it, but that's life. Rationalize it, hope the devs change their tune, but otherwise you'll have to live with it. Stomping your feet and holding your breath isn't productive.

Anyway I reasonably sure he's (guessing...?) not being serious since Stephen Colbert just did a bit about this terrifying company last night. So much for a new era of personal responsibility.

    Data extraction

If all the characters register at City Info Tracker (hjttp://cit.cohtitan.com), you can access an XML or JSON feed containing information on the Supergroup's members (but again, only those that are registered at CIT).
  4. Hero Brute: the character grows up in the Rogue Isles and always wants to be a hero, but first he has to fight his way out of the Isles.

    There's your RP rationalization.

    Ghost town?

Personally I've been away the past few days because my computer's PSU died and NewEgg is being a jerk in sending me my new one (although it could be here now...I should check). But as of a few days ago I felt like I was actually seeing more people around the city instead of fewer, and PinnBadges is keeping a decent population (although it has had some quiet nights, like Lemur said).

Make one of them Shift-LClick and one of them Ctrl+LClick maybe?
  7. Question:

WHY DID MY COMPUTER'S POWER SUPPLY CHOOSE SUNDAY TO DIE??? AND WHY IS THE REPLACEMENT NOT HERE YET???
  8. I've tried starting in Galaxy a couple times and I just can't stand it. The zone feels so cut-off from the rest of the game. I suppose it's not any more cut-off than Atlas, it just feels kinda vacant (probably because there's no reason to go there if you start in Atlas, and most people start in Atlas). Atlas may have a lot of stupidity in it, but it still kinda feels like home despite that. Galaxy feels like I've been sent away to boarding school.
  9. Man, how many times do I have to say this -- the "depressing" thing was a joke. Much like this terrible thread.

A dev needs to read this post.

Not only that, but when you copy these commands in game in the chat bar, all multi-word insps have to have an underscore between the words (example catch_a_breath) or they simply won't be read as a single entity; it doesn't work like some other commands where you can do part of the name or all of the name with spaces.

If it does work with the multiquotes, you really should change it to the underscores instead, as you are taking up extra spaces with the extra quotes which might make the difference in getting that last command on there. For instance, from the commands in my guide the small and large endurance insp command can both fit the break free type of insp, just not the rezzing type; only the medium sized one cannot fit the break free or rez type.

I've never tried it from a /bindloadfile but I'll have to go check it now

Edit: well I can't check it cause there is some sort of error with my account
I think at some point I did have a version with the underscores when somebody made that same correction, but that version isn't in my CoH folder (I may not have bothered to correct it since it does work with /bindloadfile; I use the macros on several characters). Anyway, like you said even with your corrections you can't account for every inspiration type, and I'm the sort of guy who is more content with parity than completeness (although ideally one attains both...). And as I said in my original post, they don't drop very often at all, don't take *too* much effort to remove, and they are more often than not best kept handy anyway.
  13. Another thing I17 will solve: no more using level 12 Intangibility DOs for inf transfers.

Hell, that's pretty much how my home server, Pinnacle, operates. (Ironically, I don't drink.)

Almost all the people posting here are just saying they consider it money well spent. No one's really complained about you starting this thread, though a couple may have taken issue with characterizing the money spent on the game as "sunk" and "depressing." Saying that there was a similar thread several months back is hardly a stinging rebuke. (Stinging Rebuke would be an awesome name for a power.)
    Lighten up a little.
The thread tags suggest otherwise, buddy.
  17. Should this replace Safeguard missions or stand alongside them? Do villains get a parallel event, like a group of NPC heroes raiding villain bases in redside zones?

(Not trolling with rhetoricals, these are genuine questions.)

It is now unavailable to anyone forever, and you are forced to either re-name your character, or keep them on their original, dead, server. Great choice, eh?
I am in this exact situation with a character I created on Justice. I love the name and the concept that evolved from it, but the name has been taken on Pinnacle, my home server. Sucks, but at the same time I wouldn't want to get the name with the tradeoff of not being unique, or having other people able to readily impersonate me, or even worse, having "DarkGob@" appended to the character name I wanted so badly.

What I wouldn't mind seeing is another name prune, but that won't ever happen because it would drive away resubscribers who have been gone for a while, saw new features like AE and side-switching, and came back only to find all their characters genericed.

    100,000th thread

Technically this is thread #211634. Sorry.
  20. Look, I'm sorry I missed this topic when my account was lapsed a few months ago or whenever. If you're not interested in rehashing it then feel free to let this thread die instead of criticizing. I almost wish it would at this point.
  21. The only way I see this happening is if there's ever a server merge (partial or complete).

Yeah, I included my parts because City of Heroes is the only computer game I play (aside from a couple older games that certainly don't require newer parts).
  23. FYI, I wasn't being entirely serious when I said it was depressing. Like I said, it's certainly worth it compared to how else the money might have been spent on even a related activity like single-player offline games. It's really only depressing if you just look at the whole number and don't average it down.
