Until something's figured out, you might try this, which seemed to work for me: If you've interfaced with the market, after you're done, close all the way out of the game and restart.
The times I've noticed my memory increase not dropping after I zoned was after hitting WW's. After that, additional memory usage was not recovered. It's inconvenient, sure, but if it keeps you from DCing it might be worth it. -
Just an update on this - I got an email today saying mine was awarded, so you should have success getting yours, I imagine, unless something odd happens.

I'm assuming you're talking about the three with Rom in that last mission. There are a couple ways to take them out.
First, you can ignore them, focus on Rom, and when he dies he will rez by "absorbing" one of the essences. So you can defeat him 4x and never have to hit the essence one time. (note that when you defeat Rom and he rezzes, you'll be stunned if you're in line of sight).
Second, you can ignore Rom and get a max range, and have everyone attack one of the essences. Don't use AoEs for this or you'll mess it up and have to run off and wait for them to reset. You can take out the essences one at a time in this fashion, then do Rom at the end with no essences to contend with.
Third, you can, with the right team, hold Rom in a FF bubble and have everyone focus on attacking one essence at a time, and take them out, then deal with Rom.
Edit: Forgot the other method. If you gather on the roof behind Rom and pull him up there, if you do it right, the essences will be stuck under the overhangs of the roof and can't get up there to be a trouble to you. -
Quote:But it is very irritating, you have to go talk to him, to get any farther with the contact that sent you, but as soon as you do talk to him, his arc is open and you either put up with him on your list or run the missions.
His arc starting without you having to ask about missions is annoying. Worse is Mercedes Sheldon in the Midnight Club, who's arc appeared without even ever talking to her, even to say "leave me alone". -
I play on a Dell XPS laptop, and use a NZXT Cryo LX cooling pad, and it seems to do a nice job. Nothing gets really hot, as these high end laptops usually will, and it's plenty wide. Mine is a 17" widescreen, and the pad is still a few inches wider than my laptop, so it should handle about anything out there. Adjustable speed fan and extra usb ports in the pad, as well, though I turn the fans all the way up and leave them there, and it's quiet, to boot.

Quote:Can you guys please give me a specific instance of the memory leak issue? I've followed this for awhile, but I just can't seem to get it to occur. Certain zone? Were there a bunch of events going on in the zone? Nemesis plot?
Thanks again guys!

Just did some brief testing on a character in PI. Entered a mission, and checked usage, did a /reloadgfx and re-checked. Not much change. After the mission, exited and did the same check/reloadgfx. What had increased from the mission had gone back down to a more normal usage. Entered the base and checked usage - up a bit - then ported to Talos. Usage back down after entering the new zone. Flew towards WW's and checked when you get the sudden lag zone near WW's = up a bit, /reloadgfx had no change. Entered WW's and clicked to open the interface window. Usage went up around 0.2 Gb or so. Closed window, checked and no change, and /reload had little if any effect. Zoned into base, usage went up about another 0.1 Gb, exited, and /reloadgfx had no effect. The increase usage from WWs and the other base load after that had not gone back down. Back to Talos, and the zone reset had no effect - usage still up. -
Wow - that's a very cool looking piece - congratulations!!!

For me it's happened several times, both on heroes and villains. I'll normally dump stuff at WW's before doing a TF or joining a team for some missions, so that may well be adding to it. I've DCed both while in a tf and while in a mission, in different zones. Some times when things are going full tilt combat in a mission, and a few times not - once while clicking a contact, once while just flying.
I haven't found a common link, other than the fact that I usually hit WW's and stores frequently to sell/stash stuff. -

Just got out of a TF and taking down Kronos titan - guess I missed all the fun.

There are no useless ATs, merely useless players playing those ATs.

Haven't done a Dr. Q yet.
Don't have a fusion generator in my SG base.
Have no purples slotted in any character.
Haven't launched a Warburg nuke yet.
Never gotten over about 35 million inf on any character. -
Quote:Did you talk to the KR contacts? They may have introductions for you (on hero-side any level contact can introduce you to any other higher level one).
Not them, but I have already talked to my Talos/IP ones to intro me up to new contacts. And they haven't moved to inactive yet, either. I doubt the Kings Row level 5-10 contacts have much for my level 30-something that the more current ones in Talos/IP/Bricks/FF didn't already give me. -
Quote:Now, I'm not saying 'OMG HEATs suck'. A lot of people seem to swear by Tri-form Warshades, and a number of people obviously enjoy playing them.
This is more a question to see if I'm doing anything majorly 'wrong', or wether they get a whole new meaning of 'awesome' at a certain specific point.
Tried both PB and WS to around 20s, got a lil' PB at 19 right now. Just...I don't know what it is. The endurance costs dont seem to help but, then again, no Stamina yet. The damage taken seems extreme, but then this is on DOs.
Anyone else feel burnout come along very quickly on PBs and/or WSs?
Many, if not most, of the characters I've played are painful below SO's level (and stamina). After that, you're getting your attack chain going, it's slotted well, your defenses are going, and so forth.
It's similar for Kheldians, although there are certain moments prior to that that kick in the awesome factor for me. The first is being able to use a travel power in the tutorial.
Another one is unlocking the nova form. You finally have a mobile assault platform to use while other ATs are deciding on whether to get combat jumping, hover, or what. Then you get your dwarf form, and you can take some damage as well as dishing it out.
As is the case with other ATs, these won't really shine brightly until well slotted, but the foundation is there. I'm not saying they don't need some tweaking wither, because most everyone who plays Khelds will agree they do need some rework.
I'd strongly recommend sticking it out unitl you slot with SO's and play a few levels and see what you think at that point. Another thing that might help is to find some fellow Kheldian players out there and get on a team. We have an all-Khled SG on Infinity and play in all-Kheld teams on Thursday nights, and it's normally a real blast. You can see what a well slotted and experienced Kheld can be and what they can do. Then you might learn to love it. -
I agree that it seems a bit late to be branching. You're nearly half way through your character, in terms of levels. Some time between getting your travel and getting to SO level would seem a better place for me. I don't generally PL a character, so the time it takes to get to 24 is not insignificant.
Perhaps it even makes sense to be able to branch after having completed one of your earlier VEAT story arcs, as an example, to tie it to the back story. -
I don't think I have a billion inf on all my characters put together. I guess I need to get in on the inf farming.

Hmmm....had some neat "kids costume" ideas floating around. Now to see if they're possible from Icon. Neat ideas - hope I remember to attend this.
