  1. Ma'am yes ma'am!

    Looks like a winner!
  2. Props! It's good to have friends in high places.

Now I have my fave redside piece to go with my fave blue piece.

The work in this thread is blowing me away! Keep 'em coming!
  3. *jaw drops*
I love that you actually didn't forget redside.

    Damn, is that your voice?

    What a great job!
  4. Those costumes are unlockables? Unlockable costume pieces FTL!

Here's hoping "Midnight Points" aren't fiendishly hard to come by solo (I'm looking at you Vanguard Merits! *grrrr!*).

Another co-op zone. Here's hoping it's the last of this concept we'll see for a while. Co-op every now and then is fine, but it's becoming the new standard. That's a bad, bad thing.

I can't believe it, the devs actually did something I suggested. In the contact list discussions, I've said repeatedly that all I really needed was a way to split the list into Active and Inactive. I'm actually getting my wish!

    Go team Venture!

...move away *from* to get rid of that -60% RES penalty.

    LOL Electric Armor FTL.
  6. My Masterminds thank you for the larger tray! Binds bother me because they are "invisible" and I like to do Macros instead where I can. Now I've plenty of room!

And every other element here sounds like hilarious fun. Good job!

Did you have to call it MGI though? Being a Galaxies refugee I have bad memories of NGE (New Game Enhancements) that were a total rewrite of that game (for the worse IMVHO). You had me scared!
  7. ^I'm glad your computer is fast enough that that doesn't generate a lot of hard drive chugging. Not everyone is so lucky.

Even at that, my method is still faster, and no Task Switching required.

Have you considered why he doesn't wear some type of full mask?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a good question actually. Now, from my perspective I just like the freaky face. If you're gonna play an Arachnoid character, kinda the whole point is to at least look a bit freaky. So covering his face up completely? Probably out of the question, people might end up wondering what was so Arachnoid about Arachnoid Man then.

But from his perspective? Well I did try out some masks on him. Some actually ended up accentuating the freaky eyes more than no mask. They even leave little holes for the eyes on the back of his head! I didn't expect that lol. But I think of Arachnoids being keenly attuned to their senses, and head gear would interfere with that. The eyes on the sides and back of his head are an indicator of this. Fully human Heroes don't normally cover their eyes up completely (unless they're /SR lol), same thing with him, only he has more eyes to leave than we do. A lot more lol.

I'll definitely keep various masks in mind, though!

Even if you don't like or use them, it was fun to do.

Oh, man that's some good work! I especially like the one with the helmet. It's a contender, no question. It was fun to look at, too!

    a thought on Arachnoid Man

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, what you did with the colors here is just way better than what I did. Again with the goggles...I think he's going to end up wearing goggles at least part of the time. And the tupee that ain't quite makin' it? LOL Comedy gold! It's a fun idea. I could have him go through a phase where he's become acutely aware how his appearance affects people, and so tries his hand at looking "normal", but just as in your example fails miserably.

Right now he's a complete innocent, so when people react badly, he's just his beaming, clueless self. But as he matures in his new life I can see it beginning to bother him a lot to where he tries to hide it, then ultimately near the end of his career he just accepts himself as he is and drops all pretenses. "I'm here, I'm Arachnoid, get used to it!" lol. He's a mix of comedy and real trajedy.

Keep the ideas coming! This stuff is great so far, and I've got up to 5 slots to fill eventually and a journey of self-acceptance to go through on him.
  9. I'm usually pretty good with the costume creator these days. I'm not one of the best, but I'm pretty solidly in the middle of the pack usually, and I get the occasional compliment too.

But this character is vexing me a bit:

    Arachnoid Man

Brief Bio: A former Arachnos soldier who got Project-Furied, lived as a Spitter in the Gutter for a while, but regained much of his humanity (mentally and physically) and developed different powers. Retreated to Paragon City, "adopted" by GIFT division of Herocorps.

    Archetype: Spines/Regen Scrapper

Character notes: No real memory of his former evil life, and is pretty embarassed by it these days, so has thrown himself into as classically-heroic a look as his odd looks will allow. Still remembers his days as an Arachnoid pretty well, but is a vegan these days (thanks to artificial protein supplements developed by DATA he can eat something other than human flesh now lol).

The look I have here isn't that bad as a first look. But I need to see what else could be done with a heroic Arachnoid/Human.

Nothing is really set in stone about the look, but I am pretty fond the big "A" on the chest. It along with his name is just too hilarious. When he does a rescue mission I just imagine the rescuee screaming their heads off at seeing him. Poor guy!

Thematically he's like the ultimate redemption story. He's all about second chances, starting over and doing the right thing even if you've done some pretty awful things in the past.
  10. Gratz!

And that's why girl characters are so much fun in art. Boobies.
  11. This is a fabulous guide, no question about it. Much better than cats, I'm going to read it again and again!

One thing though, all those powers that people usually skip? Well, they are indeed very skippable. Things like Force Bolt may be loads of fun early on, but once your team is at the soft Defense cap, those powers are just toys to keep yourself occupied (speaking from the perspective of a /FF Mastermind). Knocking stuff around is amusing, I'm a fan of KB, but it isn't doing much for the team at that point. Early on when your bubs aren't fully slotted they serve much more of a purpose. But they're fully sotted usually by the mid-game, leaving the fun toys as just that, toys.

But if one were to follow the advice given in this guide, one might avoid deleting a Force Fielder as so many do when they become bored with the set (and FF boredom does settle in, believe me. Bots/FF is arguably the king of "I'm watching the game play itself rather than playing it").

That's unfortunate too. Bubbles just rock and this game needs more bubblers. This guide just might be the cure for that problem. Here's hoping!

What if I just look on the wall or cell phone nearby to see the time? Do I win anything?

    [/ QUOTE ]

What is this, the dark ages? lol Why waste all that time turning your head by as much as 25 or 30 degrees when all it takes is 2 simultaneous keypressed and never ever removing your eyes from the screen again as long as you live? ONE OF US! ONE OF UUUUUUS!

Thanks for all the comments everyone! What time is it? We can all now say with reasonable certainty!

You know, this thread could really use some intelligence and wit. Where's that Hickman?
  13. The idea that deleting the character removes the rights to it form NC has always seemed a bit dubious to me. At the least backups are maintained even of characters that are deleted for some time.

But I don't think there's ever been, or ever will be, an instance of NC suing someone over a character. I'd be shocked if there were.

You guys have to tune in to her _Viv_'s voice. Really. It's nice.

And they have a gallery to show off your characters, too. I got some of mine on there, especially my awesome Claws/SR Stalker. Mmmm, hmmm.
  15. How did my l33t Google skills fail to detect this treasure trove? "Confessions of a Teenage Blapper"? That alone makes the site and there's lots more there! Nice work!

  18. Welcome to the game!

It's a great game but it does have its weaknesses. Difficulty to get to mission doors was a big one for me when I was new. Doors that are difficult to get to due to map geometry (I'm looking at you, Faultline!) are a continuing problem. It's not a challenge, it's a frustration.

You and your buddy's experiences would have been better if you teamed, not just with each other but other players, too. In the Hollows, especially. Blueside teaming is more or less a given. Only Scrappers solo with any reliability and speed on blueside.

And yes, the Wedding Pack was kinda silly. AT $10, it's more than a little ridiculous. Have micro-transactions or a subscription fee, not both.

Vet rewards are a double-edged sword. They want to keep the vets. And this game holds onto its vets better than any other MMO in MMO history, which is a tribute to how good it really is despite some flaws. But yes, new players certainly can gain a sense of frustration that they'll never catch up to the "haves" from it. Angelic and Demonic wings were especially problematic for me. When they finally came it was very anti-climactic. They had caused me more frustration than they were worth.

Sorry to hear your friends are now close-minded to the idea the game. My friends I joined with are also gone (part of what taught me to solo 99% of the time lol). Give it some time, and try again in a couple of months. Make sure to get onto a full team with them and give them the benefit of your experience. You just might win them over yet!

Despite the flaws being discussed here, the game really does have many good points, many more good than bad.

And once you're more experienced yourself, role a Martial Arts/Super Reflexes Scrapper. Or better yet, come to the redside and try out Brutes. If you like Scrappers, Brutes are amazing!
  19. And OMG, once upon a time EA had even less Energy and S/L Defense? Wow, it must've been like suicide taking that set back then.
  20. I just surrender and use a numeric convention. Works for both sides, too. 1 is lowest, 5 is highest.
