  1. Let's see... I'll assume 95% damage enhanced for both of them. Did some quick calculations and I'd say you need about 24% Fury in order to match it with that kind of +Damage on the tank.

I'll verify it on paper, though.

X: random attack's base damage scale
    F: fury

    Tank damage = brute damage
    X * (1 + 0.95 + 0.29 + 0.8) * 0.8 = X * (1 + 0.95 + 0.8 + 0.02 * F) * 0.75
    3.04 * 0.8 = (2.75 + 0.02 * F) * 0.75
    3.04 * 1.067 = 2.75 + 0.02 * F
    F = (3.04 * 1.067 - 2.75) / 0.02
    F = 24.684, round it up to 25% Fury.

Note: numbers deviate slightly from GuyPerfect's calculations because I assumed you had damage enhanced to the ED cap.
  2. I'd still prefer Carp Melee. Preferably with dual carps.

Then there's always the thing that you often end up with better builds if you use uncommon and rare sets intelligently rather than just pour purple IOs into your build in order to make it teh ubah.

Oh, and it doesn't cost even nearly as much that way.

Please post the most enjoyable toon that you've ever played. I know it's hard to narrow it down to one, but please do. I don't want your top 2, I don't want your top one from each archetype, I don't want your favorite villain and your favorite hero, just post one and I will make whichever one that sounds good to me.

Also, there is no "it depends on what your style of play is, each archetype and powersets function differently." I can play anything and fill in any role on a team. I may PvE or PvP or solo or team as well, it really doesn't matter. Just post your favorite :]

    Thanks!
But that's just impossible! How am I supposed to be able to choose from my ~15 characters I liked enough to use hundreds of millions of inluence (and that's for each of them) to IO them out!?
  6. I'm not sure what of the following doesn't quite add up, so I'd like someone to help point out to me what's wrong with this:

Oh, I would've expected the same crit chance that we have against higher ranking enemies, considering most players pose a higher threat than a minion.

Combat Jumping - endurance efficient, allows a proc in shockwave
I'm not sure why you're using the Javelin Volley proc instead of the one in Posiblast. First of all, the Javelin proc will cost loads more than the Posi and will have worse availability, and second it uses a worse damage type (Lethal vs. Energy) meaning it'll be resisted more often resulting in lesser overall damage output.

You'll get more mileage out of it than Stealth.

Stealth A) slows down your movement, and B) suppresses half of it's defense in combat.

Combat Jumping actually speeds your movement up and doesn't suppress anything.

Both will allow you to slot a LotG, so you should take Combat Jumping because it has most of the advantages of Stealth, with none of the drawbacks.
And there's also the possibility to slot CJ with the Jump Set: Stealth IO, making it better than or as good as Stealth in every single way.

Rather than concentrate on personal insults and fighting, I'd like you to answer the following questions you have conveniently skipped, and still claim that the market is broken.

    1) How exactly is the market broken? Is it broken because the player who doesn't want to put time into understanding the system, can't make it work for him, and those who do, can?

    2) How would price caps help this? Would they make item availability better? Lower all prices to [insert price cap here]?

You could actually go around this in a way, something close to frankenslotting. If you slot Impale like this (lvl 50 recipes):

    Enfeebled Operation: Accuracy/Recharge
    Enfeebled Operation: Endurance/Immobilize
    Enfeebled Operation: Accuracy/Endurance
    Enfeebled Operation: Accuracy/Immobilize/Recharge
    Invention: Damage
    Invention: Damage

You'll get 70% Accuracy, 83% Damage along with 50%'ish End/Rech and some Immob duration to boot. And you also snag that tasty 2.5% S/L bonus, plus some NE resistance which Elec lacks.
  14. Personally, I'd choose Stone Melee out of the secondary options you gave. Mostly because Stone adds to Elec's mitigation via knockdowns (Fault really makes a difference), and because Elec helps with Stone's endurance costs and Recharge.

As for what's skippable, out of Elec the only thing I'd actually skip is Power Surge (mainly because I don't like the crash) and maybe even Grounded, but it provides a good chunk of NE resistance.

I don't have the time currently to line out an entire build with IO sets (focusing on S/L Defense, which should work for you), but these are the powers I'd pick.

I don't think that's really a good idea anymore with the power customization we already have on other sets. It would be like saying "well, imagine it's green" to someone playing a theoretical set which used the same animations as legacy Fire Blast, but couldn't be colour customized.

If you want 5 options for your power animation that increases it to 30 animations. For ONE power. Now add the other 8 powers and you have 270 animations for one powerset alone. But of course they can't do just one powerset...they have to do them ALL, or people will complain that "this powerset got new animations, why didn't mine?!"

What you're asking for would basically prevent the animation department from working on any NEW powersets for several years at least. You could have exactly what you want....if you don't mind waiting until 2013 and getting nothing new until then.

It's not that the devs don't want to give us more options, it's that doing so is a crap-ton of work for them to do.
Add to that, each of the new animations would have to take exactly the same time as the old ones making things even more complicated. I don't even want to think of how long it would take to do that...
  19. What if the OP wants to have a character who doesn't turn invisible, but rather blends into crowds to allow "stealth"? I would like to have this ability, because the lack of it is one of the reasons I pretty much never play characters with stealth or invisibility.

As for Energize... I don't treat Energize as a buff I want to keep up. It is a panic button. Something to hit when I'm in trouble. If I find I have to hit it every spawn - or more - then again, something is wrong. Either I'm taking on too much at once, or I've screwed up something in my build. If everything is going right, I should almost never have to fire Energize.

So yeah, maybe I'm not taking on +4/+8 with AVs active. But if that's you're goal, then you probably already know what you need to survive it..
I'd go on to point out that it's a different thing having enough attacks to always have one available, and to have enough recharge so that a good attack is always available. Sure, you can easily run a gapless attack chain on something like Dark Melee, filling in with Shadow Punch and Shadow Maul, but you'd do much better if you just cranked out the recharge and only actually used Smite, Siphon Life and Midnight Grasp.

As for Energize? I'm not actually sure how to treat that. My DB/Elec is only level 34 at the moment and doesn't have the recharge to run it perma for the -End/+Regen, so I'm mostly using it as a heal with added benefits. My planned build doesn't concentrate on recharge much, because Energize would be about the only thing to actually benefit from it.

I'd never consider being able to solo +4/x8 a goal. This is mostly because I don't enjoy soloing that as much as I do +0/x8. I feel much more powerful mowing down weaker enemies FAST than I do mowing down powerful enemies at a decent pace. But as someone else pointed out, we roll up powerful builds in order to play on higher difficulty settings, so if spamming Energize is what enables us to do it, contrary to how you feel, all's well.

    Scrapper help

Dislike /SD because SC is getting balanced so that it isn't OP? To be honest, it'll need a load of nerfing to make it a bad power. I'm expecting them to take SC back to the level it was before the buff, so it'll still be a powerful AoE. Plus, you also have Lightning Rod if you pick ElM.

I'd put my vote on Elec/SD/Pyre, mostly because mine can mow down huge spawns fast.
  25. Usually we'd expect you to post up a build first, and then go on to improve that. But because you're new I'll just point you to Fury_Flechette's thread.
