I believe in being nice once. If that doesn't work I'll be as annoying as possible without breaking any rules until the discussion is no longer amusing or until they give up.

So? It makes it seem like you don't care about our help enough that you'd pay attention to your own grammar and demeanor. If people think you aren't grateful for our help, they won't help.

That's one of the reasons I haven't posted any of my FM/SD builds here.

PS I have grouped with kreegor for the entire journey to lev 50 and beyond. Kreegor's build is pretty amazing and can handle pretty much all the TFs we have run together as well as farm like a mad man.

    guess haters will be haters...
Being efficient or good at something doesn't have any relevance to him doing something not socially acceptable, i.e. crossposting. I could be the best person at everything related to, say, maths, but if I presented my information in a way people didn't like, I'd have it pointed out to me. There is nothing more to it.

If you want to think that people hate you because you're better than they are or because you have a low post count, feel free to do so.

And is apparently too busy with farming to spend any time on spelling or grammar!

P.S. I don't consider myself a grammar nazi, but if I as a non-native English speaker can make my posts grammatically correct in most cases without having to spend more than one minute on typing them, I kind of expect other people to be able to do it, too. Especially when most of the people here are from the US and UK. (No, I don't have any statistics on hand to prove that, and I admit I pulled the piece of info out of my butt, but I don't think I'm wrong.)
  5. Well said Bill.

I'd just like to add my own opinion on the FA vs. ElA debate here. I find ElA to be far superior survivability wise. With slotted up Lightning Field and Power Sink it takes me around 10 seconds to completely drain a spawn's Endurance. If I can survive the first 10 seconds of a fight, I can do the whole thing. That's not true with FA, on the other hand...
  6. These values are with Quickness, I assume.
  7. Ball Lightning does slightly less damage than Fire Ball, but you don't have to use up two power picks to unlock it. If you have the three powers to use, take Fire Ball for better damage. If not, take Ball Lightning.

The crits affect 100% of the damage in Ball Lightning, but only the frontloaded damage in Fire Ball, AFAIK.
  8. I use it on both of my tanks. Gloom, Midnight Grasp and KOBlow are just glorious after Soul Drain/Rage and Bruising.

Tweak your build, then. That's what I'm going to do, and all of my builds that are getting new powers will have them slotted if it's needed.
  10. WAI, as far as I know. I think BOTLER and the fellow next to Trashcan mention it.

    Slotting Brawl

I've used three extra slots on Brawl in one build to house 4 pieces of Kinetic Combat for the 3.75% S/L Def. Usually I have powers that can make better use of those slots.

ETA: I try to avoid set mules whenever I can, and unless it's a case of hardcore min/maxing, I try to spend my slots in things I'll actually be using even if it'll make some aspect of the build 1% less efficient.

    Time Stamps

I want this too. I hate it when I go AFK for a longer period of time while soloing a mission and come back to see someone asking me if I want to join their team/a TF/whatever else. I usually don't respond because I don't know if the tell has been sent 15 minutes or two seconds ago...
  13. I'm betting Donna wants to know about the EU vs NA thing being a EU player.
  14. Soft cap is 45%, hard cap is somewhere around 200%. In most cases (like 99% of them) more than 45% Defense does nothing useful. Then again, if you only rely on buffs for Defense, I'd suggest getting somewhere around 50% Def so that you have a buffer for Def Debuffs.
  15. There are a few things to take into consideration, and I'm actually quite happy the devs chose Defense to be the "dominant" mitigation, inadvertently or not.

At 45% Defense, you are mitigating approximately 95% of incoming damage.

At 75% Resistance, you are mitigating 87.5% of incoming damage, assuming similar conditions as with 45% Defense (enemies have 50% Base ToHit and no debuffs).

However, Defense suffers from two things Resistance does not. First and foremost Def Debuffs: there aren't a big number of powersets that can attain high levels of DDR making their Defense nearly constant. For most builds this means that getting hit once with a -Def power will cascade into taking away all of your Def. Second thing is unlucky streaks, even with high DDR two big hits in a row are usually enough to put you down. Resistance doesn't suffer from this much, if you're capped for Resistance (Scrapper cap, 75%), you'll be mitigating 78.375% damage even if your Defense is debuffed to its low cap. If you're debuffed from the soft cap to the low cap, you'll be mitigating 5% of incoming damage. Ouch.

The only thing Resistance has worse than Defense (not taking into account the current implementation on allowing stacking of set bonuses etc.) is that it gets hit with Debuffs more often. Resistance is its own RDR (Resistance Debuff Resistance) and you can always know if your Res will take you through. Unlucky streaks just don't exist.
  16. Doesn't matter. It's always a static +25% Regen.
  17. It was my brother who bought it or got it as a present or something. At first I thought it'd be stupid because I never was into the spandex-wearing-heroes thing. Then I watched him play a little and realised I wouldn't have to roll Captain Spandex, but rather just about anything I wanted. Then I just started playing...

Also the job system sucks and levelling takes ages.
And don't even get me started on the community. Hell, we don't even know all the rules of that game yet even though it's been going on for quite a while!
  20. 1. Male

    2. Scrappers, it seems. Guess I just like their great mix of survivability and damage. I do like the other ATs, too, but I guess it tells something about me when a third of my characters are Scrappers!

    3. Mostly blueside. It's where I started and had my SGs, friends, etc. so I really had no incentive to go redside other than the ATs. Now with that gone, I'm mostly playing blueside with a few characters going redside to pick up PPPs and then coming back.

    4. I really liked the new Praetorian arcs.

    5. It's simple. Even if I only spend an hour a day at it, I can have very effective characters. One of the reasons I quickly left WoW was that it required more time than I had.

    6. Currently Civilization V, Halo: Reach and Battlefield Bad Company 2.

    7. This game? Just over 5 years.

    8. Not sure about the number of alts. Probably about 30-35 if placeholders and such are counted, average level should be in the 30-40 range because I have mostly 50s and then a few lvl 1s and one character I'm actually leveling. I usually only play one character at a time. I have 21 lvl 50s IIRC.

    9. I actually like the numerical stuff... I always try to build my characters to be the most effective at what they do. I usually play at the highest difficulty setting that lets me win more than 90% of the time so it changes a lot depending on what I'm playing, but I rarely bother going above +2 enemies because they take too long to defeat so it'll be boring solo.

I'm wondering if you're as snarky in real life when people point out to you that you're wrong. People with a good self-esteem can accept they're wrong if it's pointed out. Take that as you will.
  22. Shadow Meld if you find you only need peak survivability, i.e. if you can within the first 10 seconds of the fight get rid of most of the enemies. If you need survivability for longer periods of time, get Darkest Night. Personally I'd just go Brute because along with DN you get Gloom and Dark Obliteration.
  23. This is what I'm planning to do with mine when I19 hits. I'll probably tweak it a bit to get Flashing Steel in the level 1-10 range, though. I haven't really missed it in my current build which doesn't have it and I don't exemp that much so it may or may not matter. Then again, if they introduce new low level content which requires exemping, it'll be very nice to have.

Edit: if I've understood the alpha slot correctly, it will basically replicate a SO in every power. That will make Dull Pain perma (get Rech to 95%), my attack chain to GC > SD > GC > GD or very close to it when Hasten is up, and also cut Hasten's recharge by a second or two. If that's not how it'll work, I'll just slot 5x Doctored Wounds in Dull Pain.

  24. Why would we do that? There's absolutely no chance that anyone will be able to afford our prices anyway.
  25. Just going to list some of my alts I've found to have great synergy:

Katana/Invuln Scrapper - While the end-game performance isn't as jawdropping as with some other sets, low levels are so easy it makes you wonder if you have constant godmode active. Even at high-levels the performance is still good because of the following reasons: you have very high S/L Resistance, (at least) great Melee/Lethal Defense (you'll be in Melee 99% of the time) and the fact that most enemies deal S/L damage.

Cold/Sonic Defender - Just amazing in teams, and decent solo. Arctic Air + Maneuvers + Ice Shields gives everyone in the team around 30% Def for survival. Sleet + Howl (+Achilles proc) is an AoE -50% (possibly 70%) -Res debuff. Heat Loss for 0 End problems is just gravy!

Elec/Shield Scrapper - adding AoE to AoE can't go wrong.

SD/DM Tank - Survivability is great and Shield Charge + APP/PPP attack helps with AoE. With Darkest Night you don't even need much DDR, something SD lacks!

Ice/SS Tank - Ice takes care of SS's possibly problematic Endurance use, while SS adds KD to help Ice's survivability. Take Darkest Night, Gloom and Dark Obliteration, and enjoy.

Ice/Rad Controller - Arctic Air (Coercive Persuasion proc) + Choking Cloud (Lockdown proc) locks down (no pun intended) just about any spawn with hard and soft control. If that doesn't work (Cimerorans, curse you!) you'll still have insane -Rech (Arctic Air + Lingering Rad) along with the Rad toggles to stop them from doing much harm.

Ice/MM Blaster - /MM helps Ice's rather anemic AoE damage and is a great secondary all around. Everyone likes Drain Psyche. I guess you could just simplify this into */MM Blaster.

Demons/Traps - Only at level 30, but seems like it'll be a powerhouse.
