Quote:You're wrong. Again. It's time for another "you're wrong" statement, so here it is for Arcanaville.
<snip>
If you haven't yet understood it, we're looking to increase the maximum DPS we can survive "indefinitely" and not really that interested in how long we can survive under a given DPS from enemies.
You calculate different things and that's why you think we're wrong. A 50% increase in Regen does indeed double survivability. It does not necessarily double time to defeat under a given DPS. I don't know what is so hard about the difference between these two that makes it impossible for you to grasp it.
ETA: Your calculations are correct in a vacuum, but you just use them wrong when you "prove" things. As I said before, your way of going about survivability is just much less applicable to the real game. Basically you're proving that because 10/1 = 10, 10/10 cannot be 1. It's in a way amusing. -
If it gives enhanceable resist, it isn't affected by PB. If it doesn't, PB will affect it.

Quote:Have to agree with your reasonings.Besides buying characters one way or another, there are other reasons why...
Even though two game accounts may be under the same master account, they still have their own separate game permissions. For example, you may have bought an add-on pack for one game account, but not the other. Why should you be allowed to move characters back and forth between accounts and get the benefit from the pack?
Veteran rewards are also separate. One account might be 70+ months, so what would happen if you built a character with the Travel power at lvl 6, then transferred it to an account that was only 12 months old? What about the other veteran powers or costume pieces that were claimed along the way?
Basically, each game account is still unique in it's own way. I can't see them ever allowing transfers, even within the same Master Account.
It is a shame, though. I'd love to combine my two accounts into one. I started the other one before we could buy more characters slots, which aren't that abundant EU side. I'd much prefer only paying for one account and buying extra slots when needed. -
I always wondered why it wasn't possible for accounts under the same master account, but I guess people would still use it to buy characters.
-
They go for about as much, but the Glad Armor is cheaper.

Quote:Well, as I said in another thread: it's a way to make a reputation for oneself, whether you pay that 12 billion or not.As was expected by many, nothing has showed up in my email box. I've glanced through the connected list on the boards and saw him on for several hours since I posted the video, so it's not just that he hasn't been around either.
Seems like St0ner's word is worth less than some pretend money in a video game. -
I use SM mostly for diving into spawns on my DB/Elec. Activating it between spawns doesn't even cut into my damage.
-
Why do people complain about buffs? I'd understand it if the buffs instantly made all content trivial, but inherent Fitness even at its best doesn't do this.
-
I'm quite sure you could actually do it with any APP/PPP that gives you a good ST blast. JLadder > CBrawl > Blast > CBrawl does decent ST DPS and you can put a purple proc in each of the three attacks.
-
Mynx just hits like a weight train. I don't think she ever hit my Invuln Scrapper for less than 2.5k damage and I have about 67% S/L Resistance.
-
Isn't Dominate better than CBolt? Recharge could be an issue, though.
-
I wouldn't value F/C damage nearly as much as you do. It's rare, and I'd say more than half of it comes with either a Smash or Lethal component so S/L Def covers most of it. When all else fails, soft capped Melee Def should save you, because I'd think a large majority of the incoming F/C damage is Melee.
I went for 43%'ish S/L/E/NE Def with enough Melee Def to soft cap with one application of DA. Works very well. I wouldn't pick Aid Self either, especially with a Regen as high as in your build. Then again, if you don't like using insps, it might be a good choice. -
Are you building this with the alpha slot in mind, by the way? If you are, you only need about 45% global rech, 95% slotted in DP, 95% in Hasten and the uncommon recharge boost to have perma DP.
-
Keep in mind that you have to have one enemy in melee to get the Defense bonus from Invincibility. This might be why the numbers in-game are different from those in Mid's.
-
I'm in the same boat with you, Werner. It shouldn't surprise me that people don't know AV soloing is possible at all, but it still does.
Shame about the loudmouth who claimed us liars for being able to solo uplevel AVs. I don't actually think he or she will ever pay Nihilii the 12 billion they agreed on. Well, it's one way to make a name for yourself whether you choose to pay it or not. -
Quote:Nice job with the AV, Nihilii! I just doubt you actually get that money, but I'm willing to admit I was wrong with my prejudice if you actually get it.Video link up.
Wegame somehow doesn't work for me in Firefox, but it shows up just fine in Chrome. If it doesn't work (stuck on the endlessly loading circle thingy), you can always just download the video and watch it, it's only 60mb.
You can send the money to @Dacc -
I'll have a look at it later today when I come home.
Meanwhile you could have a look at my I19 Kat/Inv thread if you already haven't. The builds have some purples and the PvP 3% Def IO, but they might still give you slotting ideas. -
Here's what I'm currently using on my Elec/SD. You could easily replace the purples with Posi Blast and Obliteration if you don't want to pay as much inf.

Been there, done that
My current record currently is 3 or 4 AVs simultaneously (no insps, no temps) on my Kat/Inv. This was two years back, so I'm not sure on the specifics. Would have to dig up some old screenshots to see if it was 3 or 4. I'm sure with my new build (incarnate slot, inherent fitness) I could do 4.
Also soloed most of the Praetorian AVs on my FM/SR.
Haven't tried with my DB/Elec, but she's built around Power Sink so sustainability might be an issue, and I think fodder might be dangerous for the green bar. -
Quote:All you proved was that it provides wrong results when used as a metric for something it isn't made to measure. No matter what I want, using a thermometer to measure volume provides wrong results.Lol
Look, just stay with your survivability measure, which is proven to give wrong results already, several pages ago
The thing is, while both of the methods presented in this thread work and are correct, the survivability line is more applicable for in-game situations. I want to know how tough I am, i.e. what is the maximum DPS I can take without faceplanting. I'm interested in running missions at as high difficulty settings as possible without dying (it happens, of course, when the RNG hates me), but I'm not really interested in knowing whether I'll live 50 or 60 seconds against an arbitrary DPS figure. This is why the survivability line method helps me when I plan builds while yours does not. -
Didn't check the build, but if that's the only difference, I'd go for Defense.
-
Did for the first time today.
Team setup was:
2 Tankers, Invuln and Stone
2 Stalkers, both something/SR
Defender, I think Rad/Rad
Dominator, Mind/Psy
Two Scrappers, my Kat/Inv and a Spines/Regen.
We did it with no problems other than some deaths. I held the aggro of BM at some point and didn't notice her hitting that often. Somewhat more often than what regular AVs do, but nothing gamebreaking. For clarity's sake, I was S/L soft capped. -
I guess you can't make everyone happy.
Even if you can't slot stuff and don't have any powers to pick you'd use all the time, your character will still be more powerful than before, if not always but at least situationally. Why do people complain?
