  3. Are you allowing yourself the use of temp powers?

    Warburg Bio and Chem nukes, along with Shivans, make GM killing a great deal easier.
  4. Bad idea: Showering while gaming

    Good idea: Updating the SG message of the day
  5. Bad Idea: Punching your monitor.

    Good Idea: Obtaining a travel power

    tier 7 and IO's

    Or purchase 7200 Paragon Points (1 from first purchase of Paragon Points, 7200/1200 = 6 tokens from purchase), or some combination of VIP time and buying Paragon Points.

    Hasten, Ageless Destiny, and a Kin or two hitting you with Speed Boost might do the trick - though if you're going with SOs/HOs, getting to Ageless Destiny probably isn't going to happen.

    Level Pacted!

    Congrats to you both!
  9. Note to self: get Praetor White off the "all burrito" diet.

  10. Bad Idea: Taking a vacation in The Hive

    Good Idea: Regularly saving your progress while writing an AE Arc
  11. I wondered if the word might be ******, given the "whether or not from Asia". Posting this will soon confirm or deny this theory.

    Also weird is what I note about signatures for free accounts in my signature below - they can have them (based on old settings from when they were VIPs) but can't change them.

    (PREVIEW)...And it is. Think the assembled hordes of Genghis Khan.
  12. Bad Idea: Pushing the Devs into a clown car until they give you the Killer Clown MM powerset

    Good idea: Selling your unwanted invention recipes on the Market
  13. Most likely you were seeing half the conversation. This person who friended you (for any reason - could have been they saw and liked your costume) sends out a message in Friends, gets a response via friends or any other channel, and responds again by friends.

    Such a person may have been invited to a team, clicked on their chat bar to type "hi", accidentally swapped channels and believed themselves to be participating int team chat the whole time.
  14. I can run some ultra mode features on even less of a laptop (Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz processor, Nvidia 9700M graphics, 4GB DDR3 RAM), but do so at a lower resolution (1440x900).

    Cranking ultra mode to full can give me some nice still shots, but a very poor framerate (10.0 FPS or less).

    So, based on that, I expect you could run ultra mode; the question is whether your more up-to-date hardware can compensate for the extra power to run 60% more pixels.
  15. Solve for:
    Duration = Recharge Time + Activation

    Duration = BaseRechargeTime / (100% + Buffs - Debuffs) + Activation

    (100% + Buffs - Debuffs)(Duration - Activation) = BaseRechargeTime
    (100% + Buffs - Debuffs) = BaseRechargeTime/(Duration - Activation)
    Buffs = BaseRechargeTime/(Duration-Activation) + Debuffs - 100%

    Buffs include recharge enhancements, recharge boosts from powers and temporary powers (on a perma basis - calculating with non-perma hasten gets a bit more complicated) and recharge boosts from invention bonuses.

    Debuffs are recharge slows experienced. Essentially, more recharge than you need for perma counteracts perma debuffs on a 1-for-1 basis.
  16. Follow with Fly or Hover on works much better than follow on foot. Follow with Group Fly can work well too, provided that the character doing the following is at least as fast than the character being maneuvered.

    Try putting an attack on autofire and targeting the character you primarily tend to control. When the character you're controlling targets an enemy, the one with the autofire power will use it on said enemy once in range (but beware of hitting enemies you're not ready for, or accidentally targeting someone the next group over when the autofire power is charged)
  17. He invented an engine that can function by drawing static energy from the air.

    ...Wait, that's potentially too obscure
  18. Bad idea: Drinking the Devs' drinks at a meet and greet.

    Good idea: Throwing your new canine pet a bone
  19. If he wanders too close to the Black Market, it obliterates him.

    And if you get one wrong, you get to fight another boss.

    Sometimes I just click a wrong one for the extra fight.
  21. There are three scenarios for an alignment mission.

    Scenario 1:
    You used the alignment mission to change alignments
    (Hero -> Vigilante; Vigilante -> Hero or Villain; Villain -> Rogue; Rogue -> Hero or Villain)
    Reward: You receive an alignment change, and the 7 day countdown for your new alignment's alignment power. You lose the benefits of your previous alignment (including all applicable alignment merits and its alignment power or countdown to the alignment power).

    Scenario 2:
    You used the alignment mission to confirm an unconfirmed alignment
    (Hero -> Hero+; Vigilante -> Vigilante+; Villain -> Villain+; Rogue -> Rogue+)
    Reward: You receive reward merits. If you confirmed your original alignment as a primal earth character, or your primal alignment as an ex-praetorian character, you also receive the 7 day countdown for your alignment's alignment power. Hero and Villain receive 50 reward merits. Vigilante and Rogue receive 30 reward merits.

    Scenario 3:
    You used the alignment mission to confirm a confirmed alignment
    (Hero+ -> Hero+; Vigilante+ -> Vigilante+; Villain+ -> Villain+; Rogue+ -> Rogue+)
    Reward: Hero and Villain receive the appropriate Alignment Merit. Vigilantes and Rogues receive 60 reward merits

    Note that if you cycle through alignments (eg, Hero->Vigilante->Villain->Rogue->Hero), when you return to an earlier part of the cycle your alignment will be considered unconfirmed. This means that your first time confirming this hero alignment again, you will receive 50 reward merits, rather than a Hero merit. Subsequent confirmations (without changing your alignment again) will then reward Hero merits.
  22. To expand on what Ketch has said, here are some ideas on what control sets consist of:

    -Single Target Hold (Low tier)
    -AoE Hold (High tier, usually targeted, sometimes PBAoE or Location)
    -Single Target Immobilize (low tier, some sets leave this out)
    -AoE Immobilize (low tier, some sets leave this out)
    -1-2 AoE Other Mez (eg Stun/Sleep/Confuse/Fear/Intangible)
    -1 Pet Power (some sets exclude, illusion has "3")
    -0-2 Single Target damage powers (sometimes with additional effects, such as Knockback or Sleep)
