  1. Were you looking to start in Praetoria or Galaxy City?

If memory serves, Praetoria doesn't get loaded until quite a bit later into the staging process.
  2. At least it might tell you if you were dealing with an illusionary sleeper or if someone was only pretending to sleep (say, to turn around and pump you full of silver when you get close)

    Map: Unknown

Yep, I'm getting the same issue. I logged into a Warshade around 1:00pm EST to blow my monthly stipend, logged out and no problem. Trying to log in right now, I'm getting MAP: UNKNOWN on all of my characters on two accounts.
  4. Carp/Waffles? No.

    Crêpe/Waffles? Oh, yes.
  5. Here's a bit of a long shot...

The Maven of Ministry has O2 Boost.
The player version of O2 Boost increases perception.
In certain Croatoa missions, some enemy spawns fight other spawns. While that would be weird for the "Free Ghosts" mission, I'm pretty sure I've occasionally seen Cabal vs Cabal fights.

    So here's what I'm imagining:
Before you rounded the particular corner that would let you see this group, they fought against and were damaged by another NPC group. The Maven of Ministry in the spawn then begins throwing around O2 boost, topping up her spawn's HP. This causes this spawn to look like a fresh group, but that O2 boost increased the perception of whichever witches were healed. The healed witch sees you, throws a lightning bolt at you and alerts her spawn that there's a hero in their midst, thus they all attack.

Gator: The bio/private thing was a joke.

"brb bio" is common shorthand for "I'm going to be away from the keyboard as I need to use the toilet".
  7. Some things to consider for the bio:
-How did your character get their powers?
-Why did they choose to use them for good/evil/justice/mayhem/the greater good/etc?
-What goals does your character have?
-What cause(s) do they stand for?
-How did they come to become a member of their super group (if applicable)?
  8. I like the idea of making the "free server change token" more flexible. Specifically, I'd like to see the server change token change into an "account service token" as suggested previously, with the following features:

1 Account Service Token can convert into the player's choice of:
    -1 Server Transfer Token
    -1 Character Rename Token
    -1 Alignment Change Token
    -1 Character Respec Token
    -10 Super Packs
    -500 Paragon Points**

**Specifically less than the 800 the above would cost as conversion into Paragon Points is significantly more flexible. Furthermore, stocking up these tokens and being able to swap them for more than 600 paragon points would allow some "abuse" of stored tokens when any of these services go on sale for 600pp. 500, IMO, seems a reasonable markdown for having full "point" flexibility.

  10. What the OP needs to do is run the first mission in the Alpha Slot arc (Mender Ramiel in Ouroboros).

    Yes, it's pretty sick.
  11. That's so kind of you.

Unfortunately, it only gets you killed as you heroically try to stop a mere hologram of myself from being flattened by a steam-roller. Such a tragic sacrifice, and yet for nothing.

To you, oh TBM, I leave a half-used ketchup packet.

  13. Because sometimes people say things that they think are incontrovertably true, only to find minutes later that some sarcastic remark not only proved them wrong, but also stupid, silly, and sad.

    (Why?)
  14. ...that explains why my fly/rocketboard switching bind has been getting messed up

    Also, this one:
    /bind mousechord "powexectoggleoff rocket board$$powexectoggleon hover$$powexecname teleport"

Previously, mousechording would turn off the rocket board, turn on hover, and give me the reticle for teleport. Currently, it seems to be shutting off the rocket board, hover doesn't get turned on, but I at least get the teleport reticle if I can click my destination quickly enough... (and thus the unstealthed stalker plummeted to her death (but not really, she was flying above the Black Market, and level 50 in Cap Au Diable))
  15. Because mommy and daddy are gambling all of our money away in Vegas, so we can't afford to buy you a nice, new coat.

    (why?)
  16. Because you incinerated the other children at school with your laser eyes

    (Why?)

    ...Indomitable Will (+Def: Psionics)

And without thinking about it too hard, the environmental awareness is keyed to things that will burn, freeze, blast or lifedrain you. You're not concerning yourself with things that will punch or poke you because you're already using your awesomeness against them, and things that will brainfry or poison you aren't things this power makes you aware of.

You then use this awareness to calmly get out of the way before these things burn, freeze, blast or lifedrain you.
  18. There are some significant differences:

A scrapper's melee attacks do 1.5x as much base damage as a Brute's (before Fury). Assuming both AT's powers are slotted at +95% damage (3x SOs), the brute would need a 97.5% damage buff from Fury to match the Scrapper's damage...and that doesn't include the chance a scrapper has to critically hit. (Note: Brute fury can fairly easily reach the 97.5% level and higher, but it does introduce an element of warm-up and cool-down). As the enhancement levels get higher (ie, Incarnate buff from Musculature, Build Up, Global Damage from Inventions, team damage buffs), a brute needs more and more of a boost from Fury or other sources to keep up.

Scrappers receive a +100% damage buff from Build Up, while Brutes receive +80% damage. When base damage is taken into account, a Scrapper's Build Up is responsible for nearly twice as much damage as a brute's.

Brutes do have a substantial advantage in the lower levels over scrappers, where Fury can easily reach levels higher than enhancements and self-buff powers otherwise provide.

Brute defensive powers aren't quite as potent as a tanker's. A tanker's defense and resist powers have a base effectiveness 33.3% stronger than a brute's, and their self-heal powers are at a base 25% stronger than a brute's. While the maximums for a Tanker and a Brute are effectively the same for Defense and Resistance, a brute (typically) has to work a lot harder to get their resistance to such a level (something of an exception - "specialized" resistances like Fire Resistance in Fire Armor and Energy Resistance in Electric Armor are easy to hit cap with, whether a brute or a tank - but the tank will still have better resistances to everything else)

A Tank AoE taunts enemies when it attacks. A brute only taunts what it hits.

In general - a scrapper is the best melee AT for hurting things
a tanker is the best melee AT for survivability and taking Aggro
a brute balances both aspects fairly well
  19. I'm running CoH on a Qosmio from two generations back (X300-01u), except that I've swapped the old 320GB Hard drive with a 640GB drive (the 320 started to lose parts of my boot sector, and I had already bought the 640GB and installed it in slot 2). The older Qosmio can run a few bits of Ultra Mode eye-candy at a modest frame rate at 1440x900 resolution. The newer machines look like they'll blow the one I'm using right out of the water.

I mostly agree with newchemicals about the Q7272 except that the 7384 gives 2 more GB of RAM and has conflicting data about whether it has a bluray drive (checkmarks say no, but DVD drive description says yes). If that could be clarified, it might make the 7384 a better package overall.

I note that ratings wise, the main difference between the two ratings is one person complaining about the resolution (1600x900) on a 17.3" monitor, which is true for both models.
  20. With this untold wealth, I purchase the unspeakable weapon, and [redacted] you to death with it.

    Premium/VIP

Specifically regarding incarnates, an Incarnate character on a Premium account has all of their incarnate powers shut off. Upon returning to VIP status, the incarnate powers should reactivate for the character. No powers or components are lost.

Premium accounts do not automatically gain access to content indicated as "free for VIPs", although some content is unlocked by virtue of the number of reward tokens you have earned. Each tier that you have earned enough reward tokens to complete grants a VIP "feature" to your account - a list can be viewed here.

A list of what account types receive what features can be viewed here.
