I'd probably go for +rech as my first concern and +HP as my second. If I could get DP perma it would be a dream
-
DM/SR is better than BS/SR. BS/SR is actually fairly pants as I found out. It has great burst damage but cant keep up with DM/SR. Ahead of both of them is FM/SR and Claws/SR though. Those two would be my choices if I was to make a new SR for AV soloing

Stalkers and Tanks. I would have also included (and further disregarded the ONE in the Subject line) Scrappers and Brutes but I've one of each of them at the mo and they're actually quite fun. I'm really enjoying my Claws/WP scrapper. On the Brute I'm not sure if I like being enslaved to the Fury bar.
I used to have a Tank, my first char, Fire/Stone Melee and ended up deleting him once I'd played a Controller for a bit.
I do enjoy a bit of Dwarf scranking with my WS now, but at least with a WS you've the option to switch mid-fight and do something controllery or Blasterish to end plodding fights.
[/ QUOTE ]
Claws/WP is the most fun I've had on a scrapper, been trying to find that fun again but it's not happening. I guess it should have been my last scrapper, but it wasn't even my last to 50 and I made 3 more this year already.
If only claws were there for brutes, its the only way it could be more fun -
Well if it keeps to the same timeline as the past the next time I'll have to deal with snow I'll be 47, then I wont have to bother again cause I will hopefully be retired.
It doesn't snow much down here, I was shocked the weather report was right, last time I was 11 so this was my first time driving in it. I've learned the objective is to be as close to the car infront as possible. At least that's what the woman behind me this morning seemed to believe and she looked determined, or confused -
OK snow has definitely fallen in Southampton, about 4 inches in my garden at the moment

I'm more interested in I15 really... If it's gonna go live for the 5 year anniversary it's... well....
...I might have a happy birthday this year! (12 april btw)

Easter Sunday right? (well assuming so as mine is Good Friday and my maths should be able to deal with 10 +2 ) -

Can't stand anything that can't solo well when no teams are available (this happens).
You know, Controllers, half of the Defender or Corruptor buff sets..
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry? Controllers can't solo well? Since when?
[/ QUOTE ]My definition of "well" includes "with acceptable speed before Epic power pools".
[/ QUOTE ]
My Ill/Rad was soloing AVs before epic power pools, is possibly an exception rather than the rule for controllers. I couldn't imagine Ice/FF would ever solo particularly well -
Kinetics. I know it's good, I just find it the most frustrating thing to play.
I also have too much self respect to play a stalker -
Aye am currently doing Mako's arc and picking Black Scorpions powers
-
Well you should take into account the streakbreaker, which means you'd need to know your chance to hit
-
Well braided hair is animated in EQ2, I've not tried any other hair model yet
-
I've found 400% to be plenty on it, as my Elec/Fire is in a duo I find herd, nuke, herd, imob burn, herd, nuke works well enough for AoE damage
-
Oh right, well I find kiting mobs easy, but then CoH in the early days had real hazzard zones and you used to have to do that then (bring back the crash site I say, stupid war zone)
AI isn't that bright and once you know agro ranges its no rocket science. Its not really tactics its just memory -
Well have just started solo/duoing through EQ2 so will let you know how it goes.
WoW is ludicrously easy but at the same time requires stupid levels of patience. Maybe CoH is just better for people with no attention span (like me)
I also saw no difficulty in AoC but then I got bored before level 30.
LotR was easier than CoH, especially with certain classes (ATs)
DDO was the least "walk through in solo" MMO I've tried and the only one that required though when teaming.
Warhammer sure as hell wasn't difficult in teams as while things were balanced for PvP most things could walk PvE. Everything I tried in Warhammer could solo well, a bit like City Of Villains really
I think more solo farming happens in CoH/V than in other games cause of the nature of rewards. You get much more drops over time soloing in CoH/V. In other games you need a group to get the worthwhile drops -

Does anyone disagree that Rage is the best buff of all brute primaries ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Crash is horrible.
[ QUOTE ]
Does anyone disagree that Footstomp is the best aoe of all brute primaries?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Lighting Rod is better. Some of the toggle auras are better too (e.g. fire/fire).
[ QUOTE ]
Does anyone disagree that KoB is one of the best ST atackks with great secondary effects of all brute prmiaries ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, Smashing damage, everything resists that, and the secondary effects are usless against AVs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I'd say I agree with you on the first point Praf.
Second I dont know if I prefer Fire Sword Circle or Lightning Rod personally, probably lightning rod
Personally I think GFS is the ST attack with the best secondary cause its secondary effect is damage and damage is buffed by Fury. But if I had to pick another one I'd take Seismic Smash which is a Mag 4 hold instead of Mag 3 and the same amount of damage but with 5 seconds less recharge. But GFS has half the recharge, and does Fire damage....... I dont know, GFS or Seismic Smash...... its a tough one but for me KoB isn't in the top two and Energy Transfer is still able to knock it out of the top three even with its animation time increase -

It's also getting muddier these days with things like Shields' Against All Odds, which debuffs DMG (and therefore works as if it's boosting RES), and Willpower's Rise To The Challenge and Dark's Cloak of Fear, both of which debuff ToHit (and therefore work as if boosting DEF).
...it's all rather confusing, really.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well Ice's Chilling Embrace did -dam too I think so it was already muddy. Not sure if the old charts on tankers took that into consideration or not -
Hmmm I did one with Inv that needed one target to get around that and one with Ice that was above 45% before EA, you after inv or Ice? I'm guessing inv, in which case I need to wait till I get home, I did recently post the Ice one on my SGs forum though and Nightmarer posted his own there with similar values

Only place I've actually seen them disguising themselves as trees is in Eden, in the forests there... Talk about getting ganked all of a sudden..
[/ QUOTE ]
They do it in Croatoa too, theres a hilly bit along the south-east just out of the woods where there's a fair few of them in tree form.
Stupid creatures, you'd think they'd figure that disguising yourself as a tree might be more effective IN the damn wood, not in a line on a ridge overlooking it.
[/ QUOTE ]
If enough of them do it then they are in a wood -

No you need to pay for your account with a credit card for recuring payment as the system no longer takes debit cards.

certain brands of debit cards! It still takes mine with no problem.

Pretty much this. But then I have to buy tickets from a certain big ticket company for a friend cause they wont take Electron -

Hi mate, see things haven't changed around here
NERF THEM ALL, LET THE HAMPSTERS AND KITTENS SORT THEM OUT!!!
Then the Smurfs can make some burgers
Hahahaha!!!
WP/SS Tank's are fun, SS/WP Brutes are fun.....Brutes are fun, Doms are fun, Corr's are fun, in fact I find all AT's powersets combos fun so nerf them all. That'd give me more time to see my family......
So leave them all alone, I like the game the way it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
If nerfing the sets means more time with family I suggest we all adopt a no nerf policy -
[ QUOTE ]
Or just proliferate regen to brutes, then no one would play WP anymore! (apart from concept reasons)
[/ QUOTE ]
I would, regen's too easy to play, I doze off -

[ QUOTE ]
Londoner, you seem to be implying that there is some sadistic pleasure people get from nerfing a toon that is overpowered. I think the usual feeling is regret.
[/ QUOTE ]
I dont know what you get out of it mate, it's not me calling for more un needed nerfs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Im not either, Im calling for needed nerfs. And, once again, in conjunction with needed buffs.
[/ QUOTE ]
There not needed though, because in this case in to not the powerset, but people's perception that is at fault. (and next month there will be an all new fotm).
How many players actually know that Dark Melee and War Mace got major buffs in issue 13? Buffs don't work, because players tend to only notice nerfs.
[/ QUOTE ]
When I started being able to solo AV's on my DM I kinda picked up on it, but I didn't believe it would make a big difference until I tried it (please note if you're a nerfophile Fire Melee, claws and DB still do it slightly quicker than DM) -

I'd love to see real datamined info as everyones survivability or performance models do actually lack subject matter that also require observation.
[/ QUOTE ]
if they did such a study what I would prefer them to do is to go to the weakest apparent sets and buff them using the strongest sets as a comparable ceiling.....you actually have an in game measure that can be compared situation on situation and everyone is taken to the best the game currently offers.
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be hard to find the weakest sets. My Fire/DA/Mu brute teamed with a Ice/Cold corr for about a month, in that month he was absolutely demolishing AVs and taking down groups at an abnormal rate. Now you'd find that a SS/Stone brute in granite would be much the same with a Kin corr........... there's just too many combinations that work well and some of them aren't what you expect. A good player can make the most of what they're teamed with which can seriously throw off the statistics on what's Min/Maxed. Had an all brute and dominator team running once, cut through everything far too fast and yet people would say you need buffers and debuffers to do what we did. If you fall in with a good team then the powersets are fairly meaningless its only solo or on bad teams that Min/Maxed builds shine -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Does SS solo AV's really well? Cause DM and FM can fairly reliably and then you'd want to be SR not WP to survive.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now, now, this runs counter to the well known datamined PROOF stated earlier. Away with you and your questions!
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry me and my stupidly valid points, I let my good sense run away with me again.
Of course comparing the AoE damage of a set like DM to anything and disregarding its stupidly high sustained ST DPS is the right thing to do, I wont question again. As for Fire Melee having a great combination of both and being largely unrisisted.......... I'll get back into my cage now.
Edit: and I didn't even mention the great DPA and mitigation that Stone Melee gives you, but I did mention the really high burst damage from Elec right? And that as brutes get an AoE imob any /fire brute could out damage footstomp fairly quickly. I wont bring that up either.
