I think the OP has reached his "New Thread" quota for the day.

I'm planning on /EA as well since it's one of the only brute secondaries I haven't played past level 22 (the other two are stone and shields).

This is great. I love reading about everyone's background/story for their handle.
Since I have a second account...I'll go again!!
I like to say "rawr." When I level, when I do something good, something bad (which is more often), when I'm being mean and realize it...etc.
In the spirit of the word I made it my second account handle, RawR. -
Quote:Currently if the player stacks Rage, they can avoid the -Defense portion of the crash (but still get hit with -damage and -endurance).AFAIK Rage has a defense debuff that is set to DOES NOT STACK FROM SAME CASTER as well as UNRESISTABLE . I don't see how making it stack would break defense toons, since the whole point of the crash is to represent ...a crash.
Yes this means that stacking rage would be a bad idea in general since now foes will hit you more often.
Defensive Primaries are at a disadvantage if they do not double stack crash since they would be hit with -20% defense (IIRC). Going from 45% Def to 25% is rough.
A regen or resistance based tanker would not feel the -def from the crash as much, if at all.
I think that's the point the previous poster was trying to convey. -
Quote:I don't care enough to convince you one way or the other. I'm not here to champion ELM as some uber set. I've already stated the ST damage is not great but it's not crap either, and I tend to let my experience ingame dictate my responses about sets. Not some numbers on paper. Please convince me otherwise--you'll make me very happy if you can.
Play or don't. <shrugs> -
I foresee many posts this week with the following...
"CoH is dying cause I can't find any teams! Everyone is in the tailor!!!"
"CoH is dying cause I can't find any teams! Everyone is soloing with the new difficulties!"
"CoH is dying cause I can't find a level 35-50 team! Everyone is in AP, PO, Mercy, Cap etc!!"

Like most of you reading this I have a forum handle. I've had this same handle since I joined way back when. Like some of you, I've seen other posters handles and thought, "Hmmm, I wonder where he/she/it came up with that clever name?"
So, here's your chance!
Tell us about your forum handle!
Where did you come up with it?
Have you always used the same one?
How about on different boards?
etc
etc
Me?
I bought CoV way back when and after a few failed characters and different servers I settled on Freedom and my main Clouded Electron (a Elec/Dark Brute). My current global at the time was Lord Thalium. I decided to change my global since I found it terribad (terrible + bad). My first request was Clouded Electron which was not available so I abbreviated it and came up with Clouded. After a few months of running around I stumbled onto the forums and registered right away with the handle of Clouded.
Not the most exciting story but a story none-the-less! I use "Clouded" at nearly every forum or community site I join (Co, SW: TOR, etc).
So, tell us about your forum handle! -
ELM/Stone is a popular set on CoV for Brutes since you get max survivability and a few AoEs for teams.
I think the same set, but reversed, could work over here as long as the player knows Big Orange Numbers will not be produced. I didn't get the chance to test ELM much for tankers but I'm guessing powers like TS and LR have a nice Gauntlet component that will be great for maintaining aggro (possibly jacob's ladder as well). -
Quote:Anything over 3 slots of the same enhancement is generally considered a waste due to ED. Unless the # above corresponds to # of slots for IOing your hero. If not, then I would take a few slots from Stamina. 3 level 40-50 End Mod IOs will be all you need (likewise with health).
Fitness -
Swift - 1 run
Health - 4 health
Stamina - 6 end mod
Quote:Super Strength -
Jab - 1 dmg
Punch - 3 dmg, 2 acc, 1 att rate
Haymaker - 3 dmg, 2 acc, 1 recharge red
Knockout Punch - 3 dmg, 2 acc
Hand Clap - Disorientate
Taunt - Taunt
Hurl - 3 dmg, 1 acc
Footstomp - 3 dmg, 1 acc
I typically slot my attacks; 1-2 ACC, 2-3 DAM, 1-2 END RED
Quote:Willpower -
Mind Over Body - 6 dmg res
Fast Healing - 4 heal
Rise To The Challenge - 5 to hit debuff
Quick Recovery - 6 end mod
High Pain Tolerance - 4 dmg res
Indomitable Will - 3 def buff
Resurgence - 1 att rate
MoB: 3 Dam Res, 1 End Red
FH: 3 Heal IOs
RttC: 3 Heal IOs, 1-2 End Red, 1-2 -tohit debuffs
QR: 3 End Mod IOs
HPT: 3 Heal IOs, 1-2 Dam Res IOs
IW: 1-2 Def IOs, 1-2 End Red IOs
I also notice you didn't have Strength of Will. This is a nice power to grab in case the poo hits the fan. 1-2 Dam Res is decent slotting.
I hope that helps. -
Quote:If I were looking for a ST damage heavy set then I wouldn't be taking Electric Melee. If I were looking for a great AoE/team heavy set, then I would consider taking Electric Melee.I wanted to make this thread earlier, but have been out of the game for a month. Now that also means I have yet to test anything on Test, but at least using Stoney's Mids' numbers, Elec Melee damage looks absolutely anemic, at least for DPA. LR is awesome, of course, but recharges too slowly as a regular part of an attack chain (tho it synchs nicely w/BU). CB & HP are both utter crap, JL is worse than Frost and is narrower to boot and while I only have expericnce w/TS on my Defender, I recall the splash damage was mostly useless, and its full damage DPA is pretty pathetic. CI is difficult to factor into, but w/it, LR, JL & TS, I'm thinking the AoE damage will be good to very good, but ELM's ST damage is worse than Ice Melee at this point, and that's just pathetic.
Again, this is all on paper and using unconfirmed numbers. I'm still waiting for Test Sever to synch my account status, but I'm hoping I16 hits live this week and I can do some more testing, but my Elec/Elec tank is looking decidedly less tasty than he did a month ago. Hope I'm wrong.
The damage isn't anemic nor is CB/HP utter crap. -

Quote:Are you new to the internet? You guys keep saying a lot of silly things splitting hairs on the definition of Tanking.
Quote:The actual City of Heroes "Tank" archetype can't do anything about those outrageous examples you guys came up with too. The actual City of Heroes archetype "Tank" also can die in 1 shot.
Of course a Tank in CoX cna be one-shotted. I was merely tossing out a rhetorical question to show doing so was a poor attempt at proving a poor point.
Most Corrs can be built, with IOs, to become very sturdy and surviable but I wouldn't suggest they could Tank. And by "tank," I mean match the aggro control and survivability of the average, same level, same IOed Tank AT. -
Quote:Question: Other than getting the Ouroboros Transporter by accessing it from another player and then traveling to Ouroboros to get the Transporter, is there any other way be it through a contact or other means that you can obtain one or do you just need to ask someone to plant one down so you can use it?

Quote:Kinda. I'll be making a Radiation/Fire Blaster and tinting the Fire Melee attacks greenish. He's not a tank, but I'm doing pretty much the same thing.Anyways, anyone else planning on such modifications to suppress their yearning for different "not currently offered" set?

Short answer: it depends.
On my /SR Brute, I went for Melee Defense first and then added Ranged/AoE until I was all set.
On my /EA Brute, I'll hit up S/L first and exotic damages second.
Most damage being trown (yes, trown) at your tank with have a smashing or lethal component in the damage type. Having 45% S/L defense allows any attack (melee, ranged, AoE), that contains S/L, to be checked against your soft cap. -
Quote:GMs grant 2 Merits. I think that's a nice reward for 5-15 mins worth of button smashing. Get a team together and you can clear out a bunch of GMs easily. Then, since most of these Giant Monsters blueside that are the object of such envy just... wander around until they despawn, one has to ask... what would be the point?
The reward vs. the risk on those things got nerfed badly some time ago, and show no signs of being rescinded. -
I've seen much worse snark than what you've posted here. I gave you some positive rep to help offset the negative. Good luck with the respec!

My experience with ELM is from Brutes as well and overall the set is fairly balanced now that Chain Induction got a revisit awhile back. For teams, the set really shines when you can drop BU + LR + TS and JL helps with the AoE damage. Conversely I find the set to be "ok" when solo. It lacks the ST heavy hitter and using TS on 1 enemy is not a very efficient use of endurance.
Teams = goooooooooood
Solo = ok -
It usually refers to someone being rudely sarcastic or disrespectful with another poster.
I don't remember being snarky, why do you ask? -
Quote:I was sorta joking. If it were me, then I might pick up Swift or Superspeed for added movement.any suggestions? I originally took Web envelop to get Focused accruacy cause I was having a hard time with hitting targets that were +2 or better or EB/Av class. Since I started getting set bonuses I've found I don't use focused accuracy. So I'm going to drop that.
I'm on the fence about taking Web Envelope. It's a descent single target immob, but the only things I don't kill in 3 hits are Bosses with Immob protection, EBs and AVs which Web Envelope isn't going to help me deal with anyway. So that's 2 powers I can drop, sadly the game won't lets me skip taking powers at those levels.
Quote:I gotta ask why. In my current build I barely use Mind over body as is. The only time I use it if I'm facing an AV or if I've managed to agro a 8-man teams worth of baddies.
I team quite often and with I16, when I'm not teaming I'll have the difficulty set for 8 player team. So building towards max survivability has always been a trend of mine which is why I recommend slotting MoB over CJ.
