I met my wife playing CoH, but there was a major difference:
We got to know each other over the course of a year and a half before we ever met in person. Was significantly more than teaming a few times over a few weeks.
Teaming with someone for a couple weeks and having them profess undying love for you is a little, umm, what's the word I'm looking for here?.....oh yeah....creepy. -
You're gonna want some end reduction in Death Shroud. With all the toggles Dark Armor has it's kind of foolish to not slot them for end red at all.
I wouldn't proc it out either, but that's more of an opinion. Since it only ticks every 10 seconds for proc purposes it isn't as useful as it sounds. The Armageddon proc is the only one I'd consider putting in there, and MAYBE the PvP -res proc, but that one's really really expensive. -
It also will accept Siphon Insight sets. Gives you a significant boost to the -to hit aspect of the power, and a nice bonus to Smashing/Lethal defense if you happen to have one of the secondaries that typed defense would be useful for (Invuln or WP, basically)

Quote:You do realize that the only thing you get right now is access to Dual Pistols, right?I recently pre-purchased Going Rogue along with a couple booster packs (Curse you double xp weekend for sucking me back in!) The booster packs have shown up both on my NCsoft account and in my bank account. Going Rogue hasn't shown up either place, but there's about $30 mysteriously missing from my bank account. I'm wondering if Going Rogue takes a while to process? Or should it be instantaneous like my other purchases?
Try logging in and starting to create a blaster, corruptor, or defender, if you see Dual Pistols as an option your purchase has been applied. Since Going Rogue hasn't been released yet, it won't show up at all. -
Quote:As long as you're not ripping anything off you should be fine. I'm sure people will report you, but as it is absolutely impossible and ridiculous to copyright or trademark a color scheme alone you can fight it and win easily. What are the prerequisits to make a themed character without it getting generic'ed? I want to make a patriot themed character. NOT Capt. America! NOT Statesman. Patriotic. I want a red white and blue toon, a star on my chest or star pattern, with a patriot themed name as well. I dont even want the shield power! I want swords, or dual pistols, any other powerset! Is this something feasible?
I just feel that no matter what this will get generic'ed. Who would be the best person to PM about this?
thanks for letting me post!
It would be really hypocritical for NCSoft to generic you just for having a patriotic theme to your character......*glances at the top of the page*......know what I mean? -
Quote:I wouldn't unless you're willing to slot more than one. I have a build planned for my Ice/Electric blapper that involves 4 of them (1 in each of my first 2 blasts, and 1 each in Charged Brawl and Havoc Punch) I have no idea how well that's going to work yet, because I haven't done it. Just one won't work that great because it has a really low chance to fire. (like 10% to heal 5% of your health)
Oh and what about the chance to heal IOs -
Quote:What makes you think I'm going to die?
Door sitting will, of course, not be tolerated. I know you want your debt badges anyway.

Quote:Sorry, we keep forgetting that you're better than everyone else.I do have Corrs, Brutes, and a Dom and Blaster. They dont have any issues at all when I play them. These issues are what can clearly be seen when others play these ATs by average players.
Keep in mind Average Players make up more then 90%+ of the CoX population. It carries no merit if you, my self, and a very small hand full of players dont experiance these problems.
I was mearly pointing out how the majority of the game's population used high damage ATs....Pathetically.
Hard to believe that we can forget when you remind us all the time. -
Quote:Sounds like you've teamed with some crappy regens.
I don't like how squishy Regen is for me and won't play it (or Fire Armor) at this point. I could only tolerate it with a sword primary to get help from Parry's defense. I must not be seeing high-end, durable /regen builds very often, as I observe /regen teammates face-planting more than any other scrapper secondary (except maybe Fire Armor).
I routinely outlive tanks, because Regen doesn't care what kind of damage it is or where it's coming from. The only thing that really hurts it is slows. There have been many situations where the last members of the team standing were me and the tank...75% of the time the tank drops first.
My Regen isn't even at the top of the heap asfar as builds go, and I have plenty of survivability. It just requires more awareness than other sets. If you know when to pop your heals and when not to waste them it makes a big difference. -
I have several heavily IOed characters.
Those are characters that I really enjoy playing, and I want them to be capable of doing things that are not possible on SOs alone. My level 50 BS/DA scrapper is IOed to the gills, and can survive things that would kill an SO equipped Stone tank (I've proven this before). He is by far the most survivable character I have, and it would not be possible with SOs alone (for starters, his endurance consumption would make him unplayable if he didn't have IOs)
My main scrapper is less tricked out, but nearly as survivable. I have a Rad/Sonic defender who is softcapped to ranged and designed to solo AVs and GMs, again, not possible on IOs.
My enjoyment stems from pushing my characters as hard as I can, and doing things that you aren't supposed to be able to do. I don't have an obsessive need to be "the best", but I do like to see how far I can go with something. To that end, I use IOs as extensively as I need to in order to reach the goals I set for that particular character.
While leveling, I usually use SOs or I frankenslot, depending on my funds and how much time I feel like investing in them.
There's no one right way to play the game, and not everyone gets enjoyment out of the same things. Hell, I know a guy that doesn't even use enhancements at all, and he seems to be just fine with it. -

The closest I get to heroic characters in the Rogue Isles is stuff like the guy I mentioned earlier in the thread. He's fighting against evil and corruption, but he's also a cold-blooded killer. He has good intentions, but when you casually kill hundreds of people in the pursuit of justice, society tends to view you as a villain. He doesn't kill innocents, and he really is doing what he believes is the right thing to do. He's very much like the Punisher in that regard.
I mean, do you really think all these villain characters actually see themselves as being evil? Sure, some do, but the majority of the "I'm the most evil being that ever existed" characters are pretty one-dimensional.
Some more examples:
My brute is a descendent of Dracula, who was actually a mutant and not a real vampire. His mutation gave him the abilities that Bram Stoker wrote about, but no one knew what a mutant was back then, so his powers were attributed to the supernatural. He is the closest thing I have to a "real" villain. He believes in survival of the fittest, and if you can't hold onto what's yours you don't deserve to have it. He couldn't care less what Recluse wants, he's just out for himself. He doesn't see himself as evil, just practical.
My Fire/Rad corruptor was irradiated in a Terra Volta accident, where she was an intern. She blames the heroes for her accident, and is out to prove that they aren't as good and pure as they want people to believe. Again, she doesn't see herself as evil, she just thinks that heroes are selfish and are doing what they do for glory and fame.
My stalker is actually an alternate reality future version of my main hero, who is a scrapper. He's trying to prevent a mistake my hero made that lead to the destruction of Earth in his reality. He doesn't realize that he ended up in a different reality, he just thinks he went back in time. He doesn't know that the mistake he made is never going to happen in this reality. So he's trying to do the right thing, but since the "right thing" involves killing a hero, society naturally sees him as being a villain.
Just because you're playing City of Villains doesn't mean your character views their actions as villainous. Most villains actually believe they are doing the right thing, and many of them ARE doing the right thing, albeit by their own moral compass.
I could see a backstory where a hero is deep undercover trying to bring down Arachnos. Undercover agents do things all the time that they don't want to do, but have to in order to maintain their cover. Such a character would be very conflicted between doing their job and what they feel is right.
Or a hero that was framed for something and is stuck in the Rogue Isles trying to clear their name. Unfortunately, everything they do while they're over there just colors society's perception of them even more.
Just because it says they're a villain doesn't always mean that's what they are. -
Quote:Unfortunately, it doesn't work so good. The "node" for back accessories doesn't work right if your character is anything bu the default male figure. If it is too skinny whatever it is floats out away from their back, and it you have the huge model it is buried in th emiddle of their back.Is it possible to put our guns, swords, axes or whatever, on our backs instead of nowhere?
I think it would be cool....not all characters look right with wings or capes...
I didn't know where to post this so I did it here.
So, for now we can't have stuff on our back other than wings or capes. -

Yep, the option is actually called PHP/Zetaboards. I didn't remember the first part, so I posted with the part I did remember.
-
Question One:
At the top of Mid's you will see a tab that says "Import/Export". Click on that and you will be given options like "Short Forum Export" and "Long Forum Export". Choose whichever one suits your fancy and you will be sent to another window. The option you're looking for in that windo is the one that says Zetaboards (it's over on the right hand side) After you set up you preferences click on Export and just paste the build into your post.
Question Two:
As far as where to post it, the tanker boards are a good place to start, and you might consider posting it in the scrapper boards too, as a lot of the number crunchers congregate there. -
Hmmm.
Mind/TA kinda sounds like fun.
I have a Fire/TA that I like, who stays at range at all times (he doesn't even have Hot Feet)
So I guess that could count as a vote for either. Lets go with Mind/TA. -
My DP/Dark corruptor is a Punisher type vigilante. In his eyes he's a hero, but the PPD and Freedom Corps see it differently, probably because he doesn't hesitate to kill wrongdoers. The cold-blooded murder of hundreds of gang members seems to have an adverse effect on your public image, oddly enough.
He will probably cross over and stop at Vigilante, but there's no way he would ever become a true hero because he doesn't believe in the justice system. His theory is, if you kill them, there's no trial to fix, we don't spend money feeding them in jail, and they will never hurt anyone again.
He was a beat cop in Kings Row who got tired of seeing the same gangbangers back on the street days after he arrested them, so he started "accidentally" shooting them in the head. It didn't take long for his superiors to catch on and throw him in jail. While in there he sold his soul to a demon in exchange for the power to escape prison and continue to bring villains to "justice".
Now he's pretty much screwed, but he's deluded himself into thinking it doesn't matter because he's doing the right thing.
His name is .40 Caliber Cure, named after the caliber of bullets his guns fire and the fact that he views crime as a disease that he is the cure for. -
Also, how is it your regen is only 324% on a WIllpower character? With just SO's you should be way higher than that.
Unless.......you didn't skip RttC did you? -

Quote:Same end result: people cried "NERF!"That's not quite what happened. The set was released with incorrect values. Those values were fixed. True that many viewed it as a nerf, but it was a correction.
I know.. doesn't really matter to anyone but me, but it was the case.
Hmmm....wonder if the name Boy Who Cried Nerf is taken anywhere? -
Too bad Mod08 nuked the thread started by whatshisface, I was having fun with that one
