Or maybe the guys who are loving Claws/WP don't believe there is such a thing as one scrapper combo being better than everything else.

I have several high level scrappers, and they all play differently. I love all of them equally, but sometimes I feel like playing one more than the others.

I think it's more of a case of you've got yourself so convinced that nothing could ever be better than DM/Shield that you're not giving anything else a fair chance.

Instead of looking at it like: "Oh, that's cool that this set can do that", you're looking at it like: "My DM/Shield can do this better."

For the record, the only scrapper to pull off a solo Master of ITF (so far) was NOT a Shield Defense scrapper.....it was Willpower.
  2. The DM/Shield will do more damage in higher levels, but the Broadsword/Shield will level smoother in the early levels, and it has more build flexibility due to the presence of Parry. (you don't have to devote slotting to melee defense if you don't want to)

Even with those changes I'm still over the 1.8 End set cap, but that's as a result of all the sets of taken for the +Def which comes after the +End bonus, and I'm not immediately seeing any other places to change to fix that.
Swap the GotA set in Cloak of Darkness for a LotG set like you did with Weave. You'll get another 7.5% recharge and you won't be losing out on a set bonus.

Also, if you can only have the default slot in Physical Perfection, the Performance Shifter Proc will do more for you than a single End Mod. And yes, you CAN slot more than one of them, they are not unique.

I'd also swap out the Performance Shifter piece in Dark Consumption for a 4th Eradication for the Max HP bonus. Chances are, when you use that power you're going to be in the middle of a spawn anyway, so it doesn't matter if it isn't slotted for end mod.

Claws powers recharge quickly, and Willpower has no powers other than the rez that benefit from recharge at all. Once you get enough recharge to run the chain you want to run, anything over that is wasted slots.

Out of curiousity, what Alpha Slotting are you going with? Damage? (I note your high end usage as well.)
I'm going with Spiritual for the added recharge, and the fact that tyhe healing aspect of it buffs your regeneration powers as well. It works just like adding a healing SO to all powers that can take one, so if a power will accept heal enhancements it will enhance it.

Also, do you fly with this guy when you fight? I would think if I was going to change one thing it might be to just eliminate Hover. What was your thinking on this?
Hover and Combat Jumping can be active at the same time, and both are cheap on endurance. I wouldn't do it myself, but running them both at the same time will net you a couple % more defense without hitting the end bar too hard.

I am very curious about this build. I mean it really didn't occur to me that it would be effective to concentrate on a few 'type' defenses over smashing/lethal. Typically on the forum you hear over and over that -nearly- every attack has some form of s/l in it so it's just easiest to plan for.
Well, you have probably between 40 and 50% S/L resistance, and the rest of your resistances are less than 10%. Since the rest of your resistances are so low, it just makes sense to get more defense to the things you don't resist well.

Heightened Senses already gives you a good amount of defense to E/N/F/C, so the best way to go with Willpower is to build on that.

The easiest way to build E/N defense is with Eradication in your PBAoEs. 4 of them will get you 1.8% more max end, 3.13% E/N defense, and 2.25% more max HP. If you round out the slotting with a Scirocco's Acc/Rech and Dam/Rech, you will be ED capped to damage and recharge on those powers, and get another 10% regen.

I would slot Focus with 3 Thunderstrike (end recovery and another 2.5% E/N defense, and 3 Devastation (12% regen and 2.25% max HP)

You're overslotting both Fast Healing and High Pain Tolerance. You should use 3 Numina's in each, for the 12% regen and 1.88% max HP. Oh, and pull the to-hit debuff set out of RttC, the debuff is so low it's not worth slotting for (seriously, it goes from 3.75% to around 5%, those 3 slots will be much more useful elsewhere)

If you're using Shockwave a lot, it might be hurting more than helping. Every time you send enemies flying away from you, you are reducing your regeneration rate when they leave the radius of RttC.

Also, you barely slotted Heightened Senses at all. That is a HUGE mistake. You know all the advice myself and Titan III have been giving to boost your E/N/F/C defense? Where do you think the majority of that comes from? I'd put 3 or 4 LotGs in there, including the Recharge.

Put the Steadfast Protection Res/Def in Strength of Will, it will save you a slot in HPT.

If I think about it I'll post what I would do with the build when I get home from work.

    ITF has 6 AVs regardless.

Even if Romulus never rezzes, you still have to kill the Nictus that spawn with him.

It also has a huge number of EBs.

    Simple answer: Yes.

More complicated answer: It will have a 5% chance to go off every 10 seconds for as long as the power is active. If it goes off, you will have a Build Up effect on you for 5 seconds.

With the way it works, the only time I put the Build Up proc in a toggle power is when I'm slotting the whole set for the defense bonus. Since it has a tiny chance to go off in a toggle, I usually see it go off while I'm standing at WW, traveling between missions, moving from mob to mob in a mission, or other times when the Build Up effect is useless to me.

The BEST place to put it that I've found is in Follow Up in Claws and Blinding Feint in Dual Blades. That's if you're using JUST the proc.

By "but not all" are you by chance referring to those powers that got their target cap increased to 255 targets fairly recently?

If I recall correctly, that was done to make those powers more useful during Ship Raids and Invasions. It would be nice if that 255 target cap carried over to the Trials as well.

The only time I've been on a team that failed a Kahn it was because we just didn't have enough damage to drop him in a reasonable amount of time.

We got stuck in a cycle where we'd whittle him down until he was almost dead and he'd pop his Unstoppable and regen back up. Then by the time we'd whittled him down again his Unstoppable had recharged and he'd pop it again.

Wasn't anything wrong with the encounter, we just didn't bring enough damage that time.

He's been fairly easy every other time I've run it, some went quickly, others took longer, but there was only the one failure, and people alted out so we could run it again and we dropped him pretty fast the second time through.

    Wouldn't make much difference really.

A guitarist who's been playing for 5 years can be better than one who's played for 20 if he practices more.

Same goes for video games. If one person plays all day every day, he's probably going to be better than one who plays a few hours a week, even if they subscribed on the same day.

All I was saying is that 1 person saying to another that TF X is easy, and the other person disagreeing doesn't necessarily mean either one is wrong. I didn't mention the tone or attitude of the conversation because that was irrelevant to the point I was making.

I chose guitar playing as an analogy because it is something I know well.

    See how it works? Simple!

It's kind of a nitpick, but Blazing Aura, Death Shroud, and Lightning Field aren't Taunt auras when used by scrappers, only the tank and brute versions have a taunt component. They just deal damage, if someone comes up next to you with an actual taunt aura running they are going to get the agro.

Among scrappers, only Willpower, Invulnerability, and Shield Defense have actual taunt auras.
  13. Yep, you've discovered what Dark Armor has to sacrifice to get large amounts of defense. Any Dark Armor build that has lots of defense will be low on recharge and accuracy because you are focusing most of your slotting on defense rather than either of those two things, and sets that contain defense, recharge and accuracy all at once are exceptionally rare.

Your end consumption is going to be high, but you should be able to fight for a little while before bottoming out. That's the main reason most defense-oriented DA builds have Body Mastery for the APP. Adding more toggles on top of DA's already significant number wreaks havoc on your blue bar when you start attacking.

    Perma-Pet

Well, I stand corrected on the impossibility of it.

Didn't realize it was even possible, let alone feasible without gimping your build.
  15. I don't have to install confusion, it was part of the original equipment

    Fan Problem

I can't really help the actual topic.

I just wanted to mention that when I saw the thread title I thought it was a complaint about fanboys defending the devs' decisions.

    Shard drop rates

I don't mind the random drops at all.

I have gone months without a purple drop, and then had 2 drop within 5 minutes in the same mission.

I have also had droughts of shard drops, and then gotten 4 in rapid succession (2 of which dropped off of one enemy)

Completely random chances to get things is about the only way they can do it to prevent anyone from gaming the system to get an unfair ratio. Because you know as well as I do that if there was any kind of trackable pattern to it, someone will figure out how to tip the scales in their favor.

I don't mind droughts of drops, because I know eventually I will get a streak of good luck with them too. In the long run it should more or less balance out.

It's folks talking over themselves. I recognize that these tasks are hard, but with practice and time they do become easy.
I can play the Metallica song "Master of Puppets" all the way through, correctly and at the proper tempo. But I have been paying guitar for 16 years. For me, that song is easy to play. My saying it is easy is a simple statement of fact.

A beginning guitar student then says that song is incredibly hard. For them, it IS incredibly hard, because it involves a lot of techniques that a beginning guitarist has not mastered yet, but are second nature to me. Them saying it is difficult is ALSO a simple statement of fact.

A task can be both easy and hard, depending on the perspective of the person attempting it. If someone says the STF is easy and you disagree, it does not automatically mean that one of you is wrong.

Kind of like how debt is a penalty for dying that really doesn't do much to impede you.

Each of the following ideas has merit, is easily executable, and would improve the quality of life for a broad percentage of the player base.

As I fully expect this post to fall upon deaf ears, I am nonetheless issuing my ideas once and for all because the devs said they listen to these posts, so here goes…
I'm frankly pretty sick of people getting bent out of shape because their suggestions weren't implemented the same day they suggested them.

It's not like they can just press a button and make these things happen, any suggestion has to go through several channels before the dev team decides IF they will implement it, and then (if the answer is yes) it has to go through several more channels to determine how and when.

And, just because they didn't do exactly what you asked for doesn't mean they weren't listening. They may have decided not to do it for some reason, or perhaps already had plans to do something similar, or maybe they had plans to do something completely at odds with it. The point of them being suggestions is exactly that, they are suggestions. Just because you suggested something doesn't mean they are obligated to do it.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't actually have a problem with your ideas here, but the first part of your OP comes off very much as "I had this idea and you didn't do it RIGHT NOW! You don't care about our ideas!"

It's not as simple as "suggest an idea and the devs will do it immediately". You will probably get farther if your posts didn't have the tone of "I'm going to demand these things even though you aren't listening, and complain because you didn't do everything I asked for right away".

More flies with honey than vinegar and all that.

No, this isn't vicious. You brought up one of the things that a lot of people just aren't on board with, and realize the flaws and roadblocks in the way of implementing it.

If you had brought up one of the things people are violently opposed to, while others are violently in favor of, THEN it would get vicious.

    This is pretty tame, really.

    Perma-Pet

I don't think it's actually possible to perma the PPP pet.

It has a 4 minute uptime, and a 15 minute base recharge. I don't have the formula handy, but I think the disparity between uptime and recharge makes it impossible to perma it, even at recharge cap.

    An Inquiry

    Pretty much all my scrappers: Whatever's recharged-whatever's recharged-whatever's recharged-whatever's recharged-repeat.

I have a basic understanding of attack chains, and I see how they are beneficial, but in practice I've discovered the only time sticking to a set chain is practical is during an AV fight. In regular missions I just attack with whatever happens to be ready to go when I reach my target. There are exceptions, like when I sometimes wait because I really want to Head Splitter this guy here or something, but for the most part I don't worry too much about my exact order of attacking.

You didn't have these issues previously because your old OS still had plenty of free RAM. Your newer one doesn't.

More memory should help you out tremendously.

One more question, you're simply going to add the 4GB to the 2GB you have for a grand total of 6GB right?
Hmmm, this might solve the issue I've been having as well. I've had repeated crashes, which led me to believe I had a bad stick of RAM. In light of your explanation here, I may just not have enough RAM in the first place. I have 2 gig as well and am running Windows 7, it works fine doing anything other than gaming.
