I know of the first two but never use Help because I rarely need the help.
I only have the AE channel set for one or two toons because I so rarely need that as well. It's nice to see some chatter by people I know here on the forums, but I rarely interact with them otherwise (for many reasons, not out of snobbery or anything like that), soo....
Some toons I don't have set up on any channels other than athe basics that you get when you first log him or her in. I just don't use channels much.
I'll admit I don't know too much about setting them up, but when I did want to, I was able to piece it together. It does seem to me the system's kind of non-intuitive. -

I haven't been inside the AE interface since just before GR hit, so did ambushes get changed somehow? Does the term "ghoul ambush" have some connotation outside of the usual meanings of the two words that I'm unfamiliar with? Otherwise this should be easy to achieve.
I'll hazard the guess that ghouls aren't available in the AE, right? -

I sense a dangerous lack of MMs on those lists. I'll suggest Bots/Storm and/or Bots/Dark.
-
Another vote for Bots/Storm. I mostly soloed with mine and let the Bots run loose on Aggressive and rarely had any problem with anyone, except maybe EBs. Never tried soloing an AV though, but if I had played more conscientiously, I bet I could have.

I feel this is one of the worst hurdles we/devs are facing. It's really hard to combat this one.

This is what I'm expecting. I imagine he's already got some ideas in the works as well. Time will tell. Right now everyone's on Praetoprian/Tip missions frenzy; that will calm down soon enough.

Amazing!
I was just considering posting a thread asking questions about this.
I've never been able to get a tank past 10th (which might have something to do with lowbie blue-side content), but I really want to try and branch out which ATs I play. Not long ago I read a thread about Mace/Elec brutes and that got me thinking... but I never rolled the toon (the character concept's all worked out though, yay me!).
So now, here comes GR - no need to do lowbie blue-side missions! So I was wondering about running this new toon as either a tank or a brute, another class I can't seem to get into, although I do have one at 30th or so.
Soooo... I think this thread may have me leaning towards a tank. -
Quote:OP will be glad to hear caltrops are great for this. Toss them down right in front of a corner, duck behind it; when they come running they'll slow down, giving you more time to get hidden again for your next crit.Slipping behind an obstacle to get back into Hide, then leaping out with a Critical just as the foe tries to come around the corner at you is a VERY good way to take enemies out.
I love caltrops too -
I rather agree. I've only been able to spend about two and a half hours tops in there, about 50% of that was actually designing my two new toons. When I finally get some time this weekend, I'm going to give in to my strong, strong urge to just run around and LOOK at everything I can see, I've barely had any time for the sight seeing. :/

Quote:That's up to you to define in your arc; I like the idea of them being semi-gods though.Do you think the Television is a sort of ephemeral entity 'conjured by the people', or is it a more tangible spirit which is bound at a certain place? The "Cellphone" and "Computer" examples make these spirits sound similar to gods (the 'worshippers' being those who watch TV / listen to the radio / etc), which means that if their worshippers abruptly stopped worshipping them (due to a catastrophic event or something), they'd probably wither and die. Or would they just sort of 'ride it out' in a weakened state by retreating to their 'temple' / home / bind point? -

I've found the vet attacks (Sands of Mu, ghost slaying ax, staffs) to be something of a mixed blessing. I'm pretty much addicted to using them on lowbies because I hate standing there with nothing to do while I wait for my three powers to recharge And then to miss with two). Trouble is, they're pretty End-heavy and tend to leave me gasping more at the end of a fight than I would have otherwise.
But this addiction, I cannot break! -
Multiple AVs?
Kidding aside, horror is pretty much about atmosphere, so that means you have to set it up in the writing, because that's about all we have the power to work on. The game has shown us a number of monstrosities already, from Vahz on up, so just "OMG a scary-looking thing!" doesn't really cut it here... unless it's a well-written scary thing.
That said, being able to defeat a scary-looking thing sort of cuts down the horror factor ("Pff, I one-shotted Frankenstein's monster, lol!"), so you might consider taking a Lovecraftian path of perhaps not showing us the real scary-thing, or not the biggest scary-looking thing, just it's minions.
Or something. Hopefully this doesn't come across as too much of a ramble. -
Pretty good.
I created my first Praetorian (sp?), an Elec/Elec Dom (there's gonna be a lot of them around I bet) and did the tutorial. My goodness but that was sooo much better than the usual! I loved the fact that one of the first options was to to tell the guy "pff, I got my own things to do," I've been wanting to tell that to the first contacts for ages.
The branching dialog is a masterstroke for low levels like this, because chances are we're going to see it a billion times as we create more alts; I'm guessing the chances of seeing it repeat exactly must be pretty small.
The maps look like they came from another game, they're great!
One of my few in-game friends was pretty hot though because he'd been having so many problems such as map-serving, out-leveling contacts, etc. though, so I can guess it's not going smoothly for everyone. For those of you having these problems, I hope they all clear up pretty quickly. -

Quote:I've always wondered if brutes weren't a touch too awesome, personally. CoV always seemed like "Bots MMs or Brutes, nothing else!"The reduction in fury and killing speed was quite noticable. Not enough to make the character feel bad/nerfed, just not so salivatingly awesome.
I'm not surprised that they've finally gotten around to taking them down from 11, so to speak. -
Man I miss thread tags... I'd forgotten about them getting cut out of the forums until I saw this thread turn into what it is now.
Good times man, good times. -
I'd just like to drop ina note here about Dark for Bots. It's really not a "high skill or fail" kind of secondary for MMs and is indeed a fantastic pairing. I've seen a couple of vids of them soloing AVs; haven't done so myself, but I can tell it wouldn't be too hard.
Don't forget the heal and the rez powers can be slotted for debuff! I had purples who couldn't touch me or my bots because of those two. -
I too have too much spread out over too many toons (and not enough time) to bother. I trust that records are being kept and even if there is a problem, sooner or later it'll all be sorted out in some fashion and I won't have wasted my time logging in every single toon.
Why hasn't anyone said DOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! yet? Well there, I just said it. -
Reading over these I find I have a couple of more rules than I thought I did. o.o
My toons must have a character concept as well, no "I want a Grav/Thorns Dom so BANG" for me. (My trouble is I come up with far more character concepts than I'll ever be able to run. Maybe I should give them away or something... Sometimes the concept is open enough I have to decide what sets fit them best, or they even leave it open for them to be anything; really, what does 'Clave Dark 5' suggest, other than say a Dark/Dark/Dark defender or something?)
My toons also always get a badge title fitting them, no exceptions. Isn't that what they're there for? -
I try to not pop it during combat. Still haven't seen this happen, but I know it will... o.o;
