    Damage Dealers

Fire/ probably leads, but what about sonic/rad? With all the stacked -res debuffs it gets pretty brutal.

    edit: ST heavy though

    So, what's left?

Or Justice, in Marvel's original New Universe release. He had offensive beam type powers or raised/projected shields (similar to Arcanaville's Doc Strange images). Shame there is not picture on the wikipedia page, a fast net search didn't turn up a good one of the shield in action either.

(As an aside, he could not do both at once, so if he had shields up, he couldn't shoot - like PPF I guess in that regard.)

Some great screenies out there to us.

I uninstalled it recently tho... and not its stuck on the last random selections rather than the defaults.

I really probably should fix that.

I am indeed waiting on a couple respecs, and have sworn off starting any more new alts until after the issue.

So don't say it? I've never typed it once in my years of play, and never intend to. And deleted my only kin/ def after two team missions of SB PLZ spam.

OTOH, I have played ice, sonic, etc. shield buffers and never been annoyed keeping a team covered.

    Need it? No.

However, what it does for me is that it provides an immersive semblance of depth and realism. That is, real life is filled with reminders that there is more detail just around the corner to everything. While playing games intellectually I know that there is a finite amount of content, but if there is 'enough' detail on the surface I will develop an impression of there being so much out there that becomes immersive. And no, I do not know what 'enough' is but I know when it isn't. When I encounter a situation like your example, I try to make sure there isn't some key element I'll need for later encounters, but otherwise skip fully absorbing the information. I try to keep the sense of 'more' without getting weighted in the detail.

What is bad, though, is that I can become one of those that has to complete every aspect - every mission, every badge, every item/loot that I can.

KotOR or Mass Effect are good examples, they feel vast and immersive, and I ran through them more than once happily. But, as soon as I started playing them from a completist's perspective - did I get every mission on this planet?, I need to mine more of this material, I haven't gotten radio message X yet, Did I talk to every contact?... bam! immersion lost and my interest in the games waned.

A constant effort on my part to resist this tendancy is the driving reason for why I continue to play CoH, but it required uninstalling mids, avoid heavy badging, etc.
  7. Couldn't be that someone added her into the scene in our current era, just for the grins....

My Elec/Elec Dominator came up through Praetoria and has hit 30 villain-side recently.

I've found it to be a very fun set. Its easily the best sapper I've played, better than an Elec/Elec Blaster or Kin/Elec Defender, and has plenty of cool soft controls to back that up. Its the first character I've played who inadvertently saps enemies - I notice their end bars are empty without trying to do so.
I've also successfully skipped Stamina and relied purely on Conductive Aura to keep me topped up. All due to change, I know, but it was nice for this issue at least.

Jolting Chains and Static Field have both pleasantly surprised me as to how useful they are - they're both the type of power that are hard to quantify on paper. Synaptic Overload breaks it up - if you start off with that you don't want to drop Static Field, so it has the same feel as Storm or Trick Arrow, where you approach spawns differently as you move through a mission.
    Also loving it.

My elec/elec dom is mid-30s blueside, and has been without a doubt the best sapper of any elec power combo/AT I have tried - and without having to slot for it. The combinations and unique soft controls are just plain fun.

Easy to scrapperlock with this combo.
  9. I enjoyed KM/Regen scrapper during Test.

Been doing KM/EA brute and its been fun thematically/visually, but far more difficult than regen was. Been thinking of starting up the scrapper again too.

It's got some very good stories and it's quite an enjoyable read.

My only issue with it is my basic issue with most short stories...I want more. Especially from the really good ones, I want full novel length and I'm often left with "whaaa? what's next?" when the story just ends abruptly.

But, if you like short stories, definately pick up Masked.
I recently picked this up on the recommendation of this thread.
I agree with Soulwind, a fine collection of short stories. Some only fair at best, but some down right interesting enough to make me wish there was far more to explore and learn about. Glad I got it over all.

I went following the Amazon recommendations based on ties to Masked, and turned up a few that looked intriguing to me - "Ex-Heroes" mentioned here in particular stood out. They are now on my wish list.
  12. It has been a while, and someone will probably jump in with a better answer, but I think you go back by the entrance and choose 'place item', or 'personal item' rather than the the 'edit base' option.

Yep, and doors inside the arenas in any zone are nice too, and don't have the nasty interlopers messing with your fun.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I'd still play the set, and I'm probably sounding a lot more cranky about the whole thing than I am, but DA is an eyesore, and as has already been mentioned in this thread already there are players who refuse to play it because of that alone. I can't speak for the devs, but I'd be pretty bummed if I knew one of the powersets in my game were not being taken because people think it looks terrible.
My apologies, I apparently read the post incorrectly - seems like you were saying 'why can't we?'...

I read it again, and I guess I do not understand your point... I have some darks that are all cloudy and sparkly and some that aren't (color selection matters with this one a lot - and you can set the one power to a different setting). Seems like it fits your desires fine, and I love the way dark armor looks as is.

    *shrug* I'll move along all.
  15. Doesn't really matter, does it?

Power customization lets you turn the visuals for that armor off, right? Or is it just the hide/cloud part? I cannot remember if the sparkles drop too.

If no Booster pack ever added another power to the game, I would be perfectly happy.
The bonus powers are cool, but I cannot argue with this logic.
  22. No, but it did in the middle of a horde of Ghouls once...

I stopped hitting that power during any fight at all after that.
  23. I really enjoy my fire/pain, too. I can easily tell when I am making a difference between the heals, buffs, debuffs, and screaming of the crispy minions.

I love [Share Pain], but with the aggro /fire brings sometimes it can get dicey in that 15 seconds. Living on the edge can be fun, but don't use it willy-nilly. Keep a finger on the pulse of aggro distribution when you do use it.

Of course, I also use it whenever I see anyone being affected by any kind of mezz - as it quickly releases them.

But if you are fighting something like Lost and aberants are everywhere.... your mez protection may just be more vital to the team than your heals or damage.
Keep in mind you rarely need to keep the entire team covered with [Enforced Morale] for mez protection. You can generally prioritize your tanks, brutes, scrappers, & stalkers low as they will have some toggle protection. I only hit them if I have time - to grant the +rech.
Other corrs or defs prioritized highest, and I work it out from there.
  24. Subjective Feedback:
The current taunt options just don't work for me, they sound like a troll after too much superadine while lying in huddle in the corner of cave rather than something inspiring, brave, and challenging.

pretty much all of the looped sound toggles need treatment like hasten/superspeed - turning on, and quiet after that

Customization options would be outstanding (and I know probably beyond the scope of the request), but some things that occur to me:
    • Sonic with mournful howls or musical inspired options
    • Mysterious or mystical sound options for a variety of powers... (how would a Dr. Strange power blast sound differently than an Iron Man blast?)
    • mechanical punching sounds for our armored/robotic characters
