  1. No, unfortunately Back Alley Brawler did not indicate that he nor anyone else was working on the problem, just that it was not related to costumes nor power customization. Now that he is no longer employed by Paragon Studios, I'm not sure if anyone will. A server hardware upgrade may solve the problem, but honestly I'm not sure if NCSoft would be willing to spend that kind of money on a game nearing seven years old.

Feel free to bring whatever you would like to the Rikti mothership raids, as long as the toon is at least level 35. I wasn't saying not to bring Masterminds or Arachnos Spiders or what have you. In fact, I specifically indicated that I would not do such a thing. I was merely informing that the absence of pets is the only known way to bring the power lag down some.
  2. No need to apologize. Crap happens. Missed you during the remainder of the Task Force though. And yep, we managed to complete Synapse in about 2 hours and 45 minutes, iirc.
  3. Sadly, this was already tried over a year ago and proven not to help.

The horrendous power lag during Rikti mothership raids began with the launch of Issue 16. I thought that it could have something to do with power customization, so I asked everyone that attended one of my raids a few weeks after Issue 16 launched to wear costumes with no capes, no auras, and no customized powers. The lag was still horrid. I talked with Back Alley Brawler shortly afterwards, and he confirmed that the power lag has absolutely nothing to do with peoples' costumes, auras, nor customized powers.

The only thing that has proven to help with the power lag during Rikti mothership raids is if people don't use pets. No Phantom Army, no Shivans, no Snow Beasts, no Vanguard HVAS, no Masterminds. But I'm not about to ask people to not bring Illusion Controllers and Masterminds.
  4. Just a reminder that there will be a Rikti mothership raid tonight at 8:30 P.M. ET / 5:30 P.M. PT.

There will be no Rikti mothership raid next week. After tonight, see y'all in two weeks!
  5. No problemo, I'm glad to help out. I hope all is well. It took a little while to put everything together once we realized that you weren't coming, but once we actually started, Champion did another bang up job. Thanks to all of my team leads for doing an outstanding job at the last minute - Cherry, Fanged Knight, Kahlan, Major Tom, Cobalt Azurean, Amygdala, and Disciple of Horus.

Thanks to everyone that came for being patient and waiting while we got the raid sorted out.
  6. Because it's been my experience that the longer the server has gone without maintenance, the greater the lag is while doing a Rikti mothership raid or Rikti zone invasion.
  7. I suggest that NCSoft increase the server maintenance back to twice a week. The lag on certain things such as Rikti mothership raids and Rikti zone invasions reach the point of ludicrousness after the server has been up for more than three days or so. I ran an impromptu Rikti mothership raid last night on Champion, and the power lag was so horrid that it literally took over a full minute for a power to activate. When I normally run Rikti mothership raids on Thursday nights, the power lag is there, but minimal. Whenever I run impromptu Rikti mothership raids, or join a Rikti zone invasion group, after Sunday or so, the lag increases exponentially. Running a second server maintenance each week would alleviate a lot of this.

  8. We'll miss you, Ocho! Thanks for everything you've done, and good luck to you and your family.
  9. 1. I started off on the Liberty server, and by mid-2005, I joined the Sons and Daughters of Liberty. It was a good, friendly group of semi-hardcore players that taught me how to play the game. Sadly, by late 2006 / early 2007, all but three left City of Heroes, and the other two remaining switched servers to Virtue, leaving only moi. I took a year or so long break from the game myself at this point.

    2. In late 2007, I came back to City of Heroes, and switched servers to Champion. I started off playing red side exclusively, and mostly Masterminds, so I wound up mostly soloing. After a while of playing by myself, I started a second account and used it to form my own personal SG - Haven Syndicate. I still have one toon in it as I spent a couple of years slowly building prestige and a base, and I can't get myself to get rid of it. :P

    3. In mid-2009, I started playing blue side again, and as a result, actually started playing the game with other people again. Shocker! I started playing with Family Stone, Cherry, Jonnie Neutron, Fanged Knight, and the other Stoned Templars. After a while, Cherry recommended that I check out Renaissance de la Veritas - where I've been ever since. Amy, Horus, Kahlan, and the rest are an awesome bunch of people, and I'm proud to be a part of RdlV. I also consider myself an associate or honorary member of The Stoned Templars - another fine group of people. I'm so glad I'm part of the two best supergroups around, imo. The game is a lot more fun when you play it with other people.
  10. The Champion server population, and indeed every server's population, is definitely down from the 2005-2006 heyday, but it's still thriving. I see many more people on now than a year ago. A server merge is about one of the worst things that NCSoft could do. Champion is Champion. Freedom is Freedom. Virtue is Virtue. If I wanted to play on Freedom or Virtue, I would. But Champion is my home.

Now, the Champion server population may decrease a bit next week, as will all server populations. However, Champion will still be here, as will I. I won't be playing City of Heroes as much starting next week, but I fully intend on splitting my game time between.... that... and here. I know I'm not the only one.

PASTRY TYPES: Some, like their pastry ancestors, are relatively durable since they need to stand up by themselves or become containers for fillings; some are tender and flaky, some are ethereally light, while others are denser in nature

Sweet Dough: encompass a wide variety of pastries. This usually includes yeast-raised recipes such as Cinnamon Buns, Raised Doughnuts, sweet rolls, hot cross buns, coffee cakes, pannetone, Brioche, Danish pastry and Croissants. Sometimes the broader category of breakfast foods is used or other chemically leavened doughs like Puff Pastry, Sponge Cake, Pound Cake and cake doughnuts. Many recipes are finished with fillings and toppings, such as icings, glazes, fruit jellies, nuts, etc. with a more breadlike texture.
Dang it. Now I want doughnuts.

    A couple of points:

    1. I plan to use this Brute on Hamidon raids. Thus the twelve points of Knockback protection in IOs.

    2. You have to have some form of flight on Hamidon raids, so why not just kill two birds with one stone - take Hover and Fly, and slot two Knockback protection IOs in 'em. This gives me eight points of Knockback protection, and I only have to use one additional enhancement slot for the four extra points of Knockback protection.
  14. Thanks to everyone that came out last night. I had a blast, and I hope y'all did too. Very special thanks to everyone that donated towards the prizes.

Ashcraft, you have more talent in your pinky finger than I do all over. Keep it up.

There were a lot of excellent costumes last night in both the holiday themed and Silver Age inspired costume contests. Y'all definitely made it difficult to choose.

Have a very merry Christmas, y'all, and a fantastic 2011.
  15. NCSoft really should do another name wipe. Perhaps of toons below level 35 of players that haven't been on for three or more years. I know they've done name wipes in the past, but all but one was on toons below something like level 6, and the last one was a while ago.
  16. This is tomorrow night, y'all!

I also updated the prize information on the original post to reflect all the very generous donations I've received thus far towards this event.

I hope to see y'all in the War Zone tomorrow night. It should be a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see what holiday and Silver Age inspired costumes y'all have come up with.
  17. Wee. Now I can't get back on. I rebooted after the Hamidon raid, started City of Heroes, and it began downloading a patch for some reason, after this afternoon's patch was already downloaded and applied. The new patch was applied, and then I verified the files. Everything was okie. I logged on, selected the Champion server, then wammo!

"No response from this server. Try a different server, or try playing this one later."

Closed City of Heroes, and restarted. No patch this time. Reverified the files, everything was okie. I logged on, selected the Champion server, and received the same error.

    Meh.

Edit: Just restarted City of Heroes again. No patch, and verified the files for a third time. I logged on, selected the Champion server, and received the same error.

So, I'm spoiled. I like my mez protection. What would be a good primary to pair with the Sonic secondary? The old Corruptor standby of Fire seems just a... tad... end heavy for Sonic. Dark Blast would make up for Sonic's lack of healing, but I've had my fill of Dark Blast. Radiation perhaps?
  22. Personally, I use Blinding Feint > Attack Vitals > One Thousand Cuts. It works well for me.
