That's the one - I think that the last we heard was that it had been delayed due to some sort of security issue.

But since then I've not seen any word of it being dropped or progressing towards completion/launch.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Last time that security issue thing came up, I asked where it had come from and no one answered... (since I've personally never seen any official confirmation of that.)

City Vault is still being worked on, however we don't have any ETA on when it will be ready at the current. As far as I am aware, there are no security issues; it's just taking some time to get it working to the standard we want.

It had better work in Opera or else*

(*or else I'll be forced to use Firefox instead)

Let Castle know that Singualrity is still scared of burning oil slicks (and watch him cry). According to the Americans they think its fixed on all pets, but I've checked with Singy and he still runs like bejaysis from it.

    Quick Reply.
Most posts here feels like this=Waaah... I get free(someone will probably say it's not free since we pay on a monthly basis) stuff and I want to complain! *rolls on the ground crying*

Honestly... Anyone need a diaper change?
Maybe an icecream to make you forget that bruised knee? A nap perhaps? *pinches babycheek*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. How dare we have an opinion about something.

Nobody is crying, most people are saying they're pretty weak. You're fully entitled to disagree and think they're the best thing ever, but try doing it without being an [censored] about it.

From the few (very minor) hints we've had so far, the missions themselves will be hosted online and downloadable to play, but I am pretty darn certain that you will need to be logged in to the servers to actually play them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are a couple of ways to do it. One would be to host the user created content on a dedicated server. You could copy your live character, or level up a character on the UCC server, but you wouldn't be able to copy a character from the UCC server to live, or play live missions on the UCC server.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That'd be a poor way to do it IMO, you'd split the player base even further.
  4. Aye, rehashing the powers you've already chosen from is weak.

A cone or small AOE power choice would have been much nicer.

In fact, should Pool Powers in general be usuable in forms?

    [/ QUOTE ]

So you going to tell BAB he has to do an animation for Jump Kick in nova form?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Sure, he needs a challenge

Flurry would be interesting too, frenzied-tentacle-slappy-time.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I'd like it if passives carried over to the forms too! Losing things like Swift and Stamina in Dwarf for is a REAL pain... And I've always thought it silly that Cosmic Balance should stop working in forms...

    [/ QUOTE ]

In fact, should Pool Powers in general be usuable in forms?

It'd give a nice bit of flexiblity, Tough, CJ and Weaving being able to be used in Lobster form, Acrobatics (if you chose to go for it) in Nova form.

And dedicated Lobsters could take other things like the Presense pool if they wanted.

Although Novas + Aid Other would be a little weird, animation-wise.

    1) You read novels as a form of entertainment, you play games as a form of entertainment.

    2) You pay money for novels, you pay money for games.

If "story" is sufficient motive to read a book, or watch a movie, why should it be insuffient motive to play a game?

You can also buy books of puzzles. You do them for the challenge, there is no loot. If challenge is motive enough to buy a puzzle book, why should it be insuffient motive to play a game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Think of the game Oblivion. In that there are many books which can be read but advance your character not one bit... I know some people read all the books they find all the way through but I found myself skipping them after reading a few.

I would also say that it is not a true comparison. The reward for reading a book is the book itself. Within the context of a game then the story is not the sole reward. After all in a book you don't have to turn over a page several hundred times to get to the next bit of the story (which is arguable an equivalent of killing lots of mobs for no reason other than to reach the next part of the story)

    [/ QUOTE ]

if the mission creator lets you create scenarios as in depth as NWN or Oblivion then I think a lot of people would play them, even without reward.

However I think its fairly unlikely the devs are going to be able to add such depth and they're more likely to go the "paper mish with parameters" route, with rewards as they'll feel most people would play them.

Ideally I'd like to see both, a "simple" set-up which is basically a custom paper mish with rewards and not too exploitable (I don't see anything wrong with being able to pick any enemy group, although it should be restricted by level so you can't have level 40 Hellions in a mish) and a more creative "advanced" mode with more leeway which uses some of the ideas here but there's no or reduced rewards to avoid exploits being worthwhile.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
If they don't count for xp, inf, or badges...then they won't count for much; very few people will play them past one or two for novelty value.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't offer exactly the same rewards as the average newpaper mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye, which is why I think we'll see more as a "newspaper mission with settable parameters" than an actual mission creator / editor. Which is a shame.
  9. [ QUOTE ]

You'll be able to pick the map, villain group, and objectives, as well as write the dialog and any clues needed for the missions

    [/ QUOTE ]
This sounds more like setting up a skirmish map in C&C or something than a true mission creator.

Hopefully we'll be able to set scripts and events in the mission, and use some EBs/AVs, as well as string them together. I'd like to be able to create proper arcs, not a "tweak the settings of a paper mission" style system.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Well, if it's being done this late, it's sure to be done even more earlier

    [/ QUOTE ]

This doesn't seem to be the case at all. Most people seem to start it at 8 or 9. So around 11:30 onwards seems to be the time they appear.

Or as Newt put it "They mostly come out at night... mostly..."

It'd be nice to tie em to the RWZ mothership raids alright, spawning after the GM is defeated.
  11. Happy birthday PRAF. Have a good un.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
OK, I'm tired of having every issue a new co-op zone. It might just be me, but it's kinda annoying that the game is no longer becoming individual. We should not be spending lots of time working with the other side, I am not saying co-op is bad, it is just becoming overused.

So please take a few issues' break, NC. Most MMOs don't have co-op at all. If people really want to spend time with the other side, why don't they merge the games?

I am sorry for my little rave, but it's getting annoying now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your little rave? You're listening to The Shaman with a few strobes going?

Oubourourous wasn't co-op was it (issue before last). And the midnight arcs are separate, so only Cimorororora was, and that really just has repeatable missions and the tf.

I'm pro-coop as it means more shared content, more interesting team compositions and a bigger pool of toons to team with.

What I would like are zones with more easily spelt names!

Hmm, OP is a tank, why in hell do even want a stealth power?

[/ QUOTE ]What a stupid comment!!!

This is the type of stereotypical thing that really bugs me! If a Tank wants a stealth power or +stealth enhancement, then that's up to them. Just because someone wishes to take a different option, and doesn't comform to what 95% of others do, then that's up to them, surely? If we all played ATs the same well, it would be very boring!

    [/ QUOTE ]
I still don't see why an agro magnet would want a stealth power but if you do the stealth pool would give you more bang for your buck IMO. (Set bonuses excluded of course.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

For the times you don't want to be an aggro magnet? ie Ghosting, or just wandering around zones?

I did what JD did, put the Stealth IO in Sprint rather than TP due to the annoying TP bug.

    So 116129.03

So that 160,000 seems about right worldwide. Certainly 160,000 in the EU only seems a bit high

So basically if u want to put a set into a knockup power like lift u wont increase the mag. Shame really since i wanted to 6 slot lift with 6x kinetic crash for a nice rech bonus

    [/ QUOTE ]

You will, AFAIK, but all it'll do is make them go "wheee" further into the sky. So you're just giving them more of a Super Happy Fun Ride.

But you can still slot the set in and get the set bonus, no reason why not.

Knockback and Knockup are really the same thing; if you increase the magnitude of Knockup enough, it turns into Knockback.

(Which is why Knockup attacks can send blue/green mobs flying backwards - it has a greater effect against them.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Edit: Fixed typo

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure about this. Knockdown & knockback are the same thing and knockdown will become knockback if you enhance it enough.

But Knockup is always knockup, if you enhance it it should become knockup even higher AFAIK (with the usual bit of sideways movement) but will never become proper knockback.
  17. Aye, its a curse for Tornado too, you can't really use it as a reliable damage power like a (Fire/Ice/Earth/Plant) Controller might via spamming their AOE immob. Pity because Tornado has a nice Defense debuff in there too.

Technically we have Negative Energy channeled from the Netherworlds, and Warshades have Nictus Energy/Dark Matter/Gravity Control. Damage type is the same, but thematically and graphically they're completely different. The only actually "Dark" aspect of Warshade powers is the power names.

There's nothing dark about using your enemies soul to make a pet? Even at anti-hero standards thats pretty low.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeeesss, having your last opponents' extracted souls hovering around you, enslaved to your bidding, does slightly undermine the whole "I just knocked them out, and they've been safely teleported to the Zig" idea, doesn't it?

Would it help to think of it as some sort of Karma-building community service thing for their next reincarnation?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Try to think of it as one of those buddy cop movies

"HE... was a man infested with a reformed alien parasite, cleaning up the streets one punk at a time"

Are you sure you're not confusing it with Labyrinth? Tom Cruise was in Legend, along with a big red scary demon (who was still far less scary than Bowies Goblin King Hair-and-bulging-tights ensemble)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ack, you're spot on and the big red devil was Tim Curry (Frankenfurter)

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was Tim Curry?!? I never figured that out (but looking back inow its flaming obvious).
  20. The immob has no -knockback component to it, so things will still fall back / down. This gives you excellent synergy with Tenctales + Freezing Rain.

The two should go really well together. Lots of -ToHit, the TT + FR combo and a self-heal in Dark too. And stacked stuns (although both Dark Pit and Thunderclap aren't the best and need a fair few slots to be really useful).

*Edit : Here's my take on an SO levelling build. Took TP instead of Haste + SS through choice (I really want to be a Tsoo Sorcerer).

...if you slot for Fear you extend the duration of the power including the -tohit

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, according to the ingame numbers, slotting +fear duration does not increase the duration of the -tohit. Which I suppose is logical if you think about it, the enhancements do state increase duration of fear, not the power in itself.

    [ QUOTE ]
This will allow you to double stack FS and thus the -tohit as well or have it readily available for another mob.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you sure? As I recall, debuffs don't stack from the same power (from the same user). But slotting FS for recharge is a good idea anyways.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is incorrect. Debuffs from the same power twice MAY stack a lot of the time, unless the power specifically says "does not stack from same caster". A lot of powers will indeed let you stack the debuff.

Fearsome Stares toHit debuff isn't marked "does not stack" according to Red Tomax, so if you have the recharge down less than 20 seconds you'll get some stacking on the ToHit debuff.

There's no way to increase the duration of ToHit debuffs as far as I know (Power Build-up boosts the amount debuffed, not the time it debuffs for)
