  1. Plus lets see how advanced it is before giving it the "ground breaking" tag.

If it doesn't have in-map triggers and events and some branching logic in the arc dialogue it'd be fairly unimpressive to me really.

Or it could be I misread the title of this section of the forums thinking 'General discussion' meant just that not 'General abuse'

    [/ QUOTE ]
You know, I really don't think that word means what you think it means.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well Stand good to see your still gunning for me. Perhaps it means implying someone else doesn't have a basic grasp of English or perhaps it means wishing painful medical conditions on people, personally I consider both somewhat abusive.

And Sir helm I will have to defer to your obviously greater experience of the subject and be glad I don't have to pay your opticians bills.

So I came here looking for a discusion but if you care for a flamefest I'll happily supply you with my Email and you can vent your spleens to your hearts content. But frankly I'll probably just giggle and shrug there too.

    [/ QUOTE ]
For your info, "I don't think that word means what you think it means" is a quote from that cracking film The Princess Bride; I made it because you seem to use the word "abuse" to cover pretty much anything from not taking a post seriously to pointing out a post's off topic. It's actually a much, much stronger word than that, and not one to casually throw in whenever there's any sort of disagreement.

On the other hand, as you seem to think that my pointing out you're using an inappropriate word means I'm "still gunning for [you]", presumably part of my plan to "vent [my] spleens", so using hyperbole may be a bit of a habit for you.

Whether you believe it or not I'm not pursuing some evil campaign against you here; life's too short, and as a general rule I reply to posts rather than the poster.

Honestly I'm not sure what the OPs point actually is. Rebalancing happens in any online games life, only way you'll avoid it is play a single player game
  3. Mother Mayhem for Carni for some reason, think it was a combination of her flitting about and the openness of the map she's on.

If that was ever made into a MMORPG, I'd be in heaven.

    Dropped Timebomb rampage FTW!!

Always loved rotating through a set of Shields and running through the enemy agents so they'd shoot each other, drop a timebomb and blow themselves to pieces. Cheezy tactics FTW!

Gauss Gun rampage was fun too.

Someone make a Syndicate MMO for heavens sakes (maybe this Spy AT and suggested 3rd side could be shoe-horned into something appropriate).

One of my US guildmates in EverQuest (one of the many who couldn't believe I didn't own a gun for home defence), who lived somewhere in the Midwest iirc, once told me he used to shoot his rifle at cans in the field behind his home, which was right next to a busy public highway, and the Police never even came out to check where the gunshots were coming from. I guess if the Police are that slack you need to protect yourself

  10. Far as I know the damage is about the same (or better for the Necro) pre-32. Once you hit 32 the Bots AOE damage sky-rockets. The Necros single target damage dramatically improves too (mostly through the knights) but mostly its a massive boost to survivability via the pets self-heals and (more importantly) the Liches massive control powers.

As you say Bots are ranged (and thus would all happily stand in your Hurricane & steamy mist blasting out) whereas Necro is strongly melee based and needs more controlling and minding (Knights still need to be forced into melee really, zombies tend to chase runners more).

The Necro also doesn't need to self-tank as much, he can control and heal the pets as they take the aggro (or he can Fearsome Stare the alpha away). A Stormy is going to have a problem tanking in that he has no self-heal (a Stormy does get O2 Boost to heal pets). But you do create a region of superb defense for them to shoot out of.

Both also lack mez protection and use a toggle for their -ToHit debuff which can be a problem.

Bots/Storm sounds insanely strong though, I was thinking of one too (I've an Illusion/Storm main and Bots sound like they'd synergise even better with those ranged attacks). Only reason I'm not trying one is I've too many alts (and I can't think of a decent concept)

Er... weird thing, seeing a new ad for a Microsoft game - "Too Human"?

Surely they're not taking ads for rival products?

    [/ QUOTE ]

How is Too human a rival product? Besides being a game that is. I would get worried if it was an ad for DC Online or Champions Online

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's an RPG with online multiplayer capabilities. True, it's not a direct competitor, especially as it's on console. But it's not exactly chalk and cheese...

Its also supposed to be rather disappointing according to reviews.

So when are we getting ads for good stuff?

I personally use the set IO's at low lvls for frankenslotting so at least, instead of starting with the (boring) Acc, then endrdx, then rchg and then finally dmg, I can get a bit of everything on attacks early when few slots on them. Usually I pick the cheapest recipes available since I am not interested in set bonuses but in % at those lvls and never found them unaffordable, just a couple lucky drops cover for it plenty.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is exactly how I do it too.

Makes it a bit more interesting levelling up too and plotting what piece to aim for next. Had great fun finishing frankenslotting my Lich last night ("Oooh, Chance for Recharge Debuff. Nice").

Given the rate I level at there's absolutely no point in me waiting until 50, I'd never get to play with the system. Plus you get more bang to your partially slotted powers if you frankenslot as you go (I had EMP Arrow beautifully slotted at 39 on my Grav/TA thanks to frankenslotting Acc/Recharge/Hold IOs).

Scrappers would do alright in casual PvP

    [/ QUOTE ]

Eh? until some ranged attacker starts kiting them you mean? defeating a melee AT with a ranged AT isn't rocket science, even a casual PvPer can work it out.

Easing imbalance doesn't help. there will still be leet builds and leet players, and they are what put casual players off.

Some sort of ranking or handicapping system would be more useful, so players are always PvPing against opponents at thier own level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I disagree, easing imbalance would help, by definition. Of course there's always going to be "leet" or "professional" builds which will always beat me anyway, but at least the gap is closed (and a lot of leet or pros aren't going to be too bothered with killing me over and over).

I'm not claiming a dual-build system would fix everything and all would be good, but with the low levels of players in the EU any sort of ranking system is going to be pretty barren IMO. You need a large pool of potential players so that any ranking system will provide you with an equally skilled and online opponent at any time. Otherwise it becomes a bit pointless

    Heya,

I have been taking a look at Mid's and for some reason, I can't find the ToHitDebuff value for Tenebrous Tentacles. Checked later in Red Tomax City of Data but there it doesn't even state that Tenebrous Tentacles have a ToHitDebuff effect which is odd because, either City of Data is wrong or the game has a serious bug since TT definitely accepts ToHitDebuff enhancements.

Does anyone know the ToHitDebuff Values for Defenders and/or Scrapper Ancillary?

    Thanks.-

    [/ QUOTE ]

CoD certainly has them, its 9.4% for the Defender version (less than I thought actually, I though it was 12%) Reference

    Scrapper version is 5.4% Reference
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Even if you could repec your build for PvP, it doesn't solve the problem of inbalance between ATs and specific powersets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But it goes some way towards easing the Build imbalance which is more noticable for some builds than others. For example a lot of Scrappers would do alright in casual PvP with their PvE build, but for others there's a lot of powers which are useless (Controller AOE powers for example, which eat slots in PvE and yet and still fairly useless in PvP)
  16. Why do you have Posi's in VG rather than the other Hold PROC (Neuronic Shutdown or whatever it is)?
  17. Pick up the single target immob, slotted for damage, and Air Superiority, they'll help a bit. Hold -> Immob -> Air Sup for maximum containment damage

If you have the Vet rewards they go nicely with Earth/Storm too as you can debuff Defense & Resistance with Quicksand and Freezing Rain so it will be far more effective. You might be able to pick up some Temp powers from Wentworths too for cheap which might help a bit as well.

Once you hit the 20s/30s slot Volcanic Gasses with Hold PROCS, because of the way the Hold works they'll fire off a lot (basically Gasses creates 4 vents which cast short duration holds every 6 seconds, so you have 4 20% chances of a PROC every 6 seconds with them).

Have Stone Cages (with some PROCs if you can afford them) by 35 and then slot Tornado for Damage and Recharge, spamming Cages with it to prevent knockback. Obviously this tactic clashes with Earthquake (and Freezing Rain to a lesser extent).

The EU servers seem to work perfectly well and I don't see a need to move.

    [/ QUOTE ]

^ lol. I'd agree with this if it wasn't for the whole server lag and un-useable arena issues of late.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have not experienced lag for a long time, so I don't recognise your problem.

But if you've got lag now, surely playing on servers hosted in the USA would make it worse given the additional hops you'd need to connect to

    [/ QUOTE ]

On average the US servers, at least the East Coast ones, are fewer hops than the EU ones if you're in the UK or Scandinavia because the transatlantic links are better than a lot of the routing through mainland Europe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye, I tend to get less lag and shorter loading times on Freedom than Union (for some reason the "connect" time, the bit before it shows a picture and the loading bar, is massive on Union for me at the moment).

And if you disagree what would you suggestetions to improve the interest in PvP beyond those 'hardcore' fans.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Next time read the PvP forum cause there are plenty threads about this.

The reason PvP is not so popular in this game is because a)was never advertised depite the original design had PvP in it

b)majority of game population in this game are comic fans and people that come to this game for the immersion hence first they love spandex and then anything else about the game.

c)Casual gamers who consider PvP an abomination.

    [ QUOTE ]
The exclusion of all but about 20% (random estimate)

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is very random and totally inaccurate.Besides in all games that inclue pvp you will never EVER find a 100% pvp viability of archetypes for PvP so kina pointless asking about this.(with the exception of Warhammer but thats for different reasons)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I disagree with B and C strongly. Especially B. Urrgh. Spandex.

I'm a fairly casual gamer who doesn't consider PvP an abomination, but Zonal PvP always seems pointless with the sort of toons I play (I've occasionally gone into zones and been pretty ineffecual) and to be honest the hardcore PvP doesn't appeal to me. Even reading at the X4 thread put me off the idea of entering it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you want to be pedantic... . UK is part of Europe, and that only a subset of players can see them doesn't change the fact of these being the first real in-game ads on the EU servers. Of course, it's all a matter of subjective opinion really.

  25. Yep, I find the early villains game much more of a grind than heroes. It's fairly hard to grab a team in Mercy too, and there's nothing like the Sewer Runs you can do Heroes side to zip through it. Closest I've seen is people farming the Bank mission in Mercy to get to 6 quickly. Even then its harder to get a team.

I ended up making my dom on the US side instead and creating PuGs on Freedumb, it was the only way I could stick to one.

A Grav dom is going to be a long haul too, Grav is one of the latest developing Control sets, not getting its second AOE control until 26, and the extra single target damage powers Grav gets aren't as useful to a Dom IMO since you get them in the secondary as well.

MMs are much easier to solo though and Traps is a great MM set.

I suppose the best thing to do with the Dom would be find a good active Villains SG and join that and team with them a lot.
