    HI,

I decided to buy the full version of the game and after being rather annoyed I could only get my months free after paying for another month I still went and made my payment via paypal.

However whilst I know longer have a message saying im on a trial account. I can't use the chat channels such as global, I can't get any xp past level 14.

Whats up,? as you can guess im rather irate. You don't pay for something and don't get anything in return. That is called stealing.

Wondering if there's anyway around this? If not ncsoft can expect me to demand a refund.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You need to contact Support about this, you can do it from the NCSoft homepage I think.

It sucks that its still happening though, this is the third or fourth one of these I've seen in the last few weeks. Pathetic really.

That's all well and good, but doesn't change the fact people who use excessive force are whinging about excessive force when it isn't them using it. Rare does the complaint focus on anything to do with due process.

    It's "BLUE SHIELD, BAD".

Reminds me of all the fuss over Longbow being a "private army", with a "set uniform". Let's just overlook Supergroups for a moment...

    [/ QUOTE ]

All the fuss over Longbow is over their ridiculous spandex outfits.

Who thought "I know. I'll form a private army. And I'll dress them in the sort of outfits you usually see at gymnastics competitions"?

Worrying-private-army-with-pseudo-fascist-overtones or not at least Vanguard dress decently
  3. [ QUOTE ]
    Not this blue steal then?

    I often confuse the two

    If only.

    Forum Titles...

    [ QUOTE ]
It's because they're part of the prize for the Creative Genius competition.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I know that bit, that's obvious.

I'm asking why there isn't the same sort of competition / reward system for the most helpful / well written guide or site every once in a while (doesn't have to be monthly given how useless they can be at sticking to getting the Creative Awards done consistantly on a monthly basis).

    Forum Titles...

Actually how come titles are given out for stories, piccies etc but never for things like guides, sites or apps (with the exception of Mids builder, and there was a lot of moaning when that was, quite rightly, awarded by Bridger)?

I love reading the stories and the like but to a lot of the player base a good guide or site can be more helpful in helping them develop their toons.

I think the US have Guide titles?

    F-f-f-frankenslotting?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Oooops!

Details here - it's even easier, really...set IOs without paying attention to the sets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye, its basically slotting for the best enhancement values for the number of slots you have and ignoring sets for the most part (you might go for a 2 set bonus).

Like slotting an AOE Hold with 1 Acc/Hold/Recharge from each hold set, for example, to get about a 75% bonus to Acc, Hold and Recharge in only 4 slots beating what 6 slotting with SOs will get you.

Very, very useful for tight slotted builds like Kheldians, Doms etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've just looked at that on Mids'. That's really good. Makes IO Set Bonuses seem a bit meh unless they're actually boosting a particular stat that you want boosting.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yep, makes me wonder why people spash out so much on Set bonuses and are so obsessed with Super-uber-dooper set builds to the detriment of their actual powers. Still, means the non-super-dooper set bonus sets are nice and cheap for me to Frankenslot with and get nice enhancement values from.

    Lag etc

One other thing to try, if you're using Wireless try using an ethernet connection instead and switching off the wireless. That will help determine if the problem is your routers wireless or something else like the ISP.
  8. [ QUOTE ]

1.When slotting damage enhancements into Soul Drain does that just enhance the damage that the AoE does to the targets it hits when you execute the power or does it increase the buff you get from the power aswell in terms of your damage output? ( At the moment i have 1xAcc/3xRechg lvl50 IOs slotted. I did have 2xDmg aswell, but i spec'd them out and put them to use elsewhere, now im wondering if this was a good idea...)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just the damage the AOE does. There's no way to increase the damage buff it gives you, the damage buff is purely based on how many people you hit with it.

    [ QUOTE ]

2.Does Midnight Grasp continue to do damage aslong as the immobilzation effect is active? What im getting at here is, put simply- Can i increase the duration of the DoT by slotting Immobilization enhancements? (At the moment i have 1xAcc/2xDmg lvl50 IOs slotted. I plan on sticking a recharge in it when i hit 50 and im trying to decide if its worth sticking in an immobilization aswell..)

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, the damage is set to do 10 ticks of damage. Changing how long the Immob lasts doesn't affect this at all, there's no way to get additional ticks of damage from the power. I'd stick a Dam/Recharge IO in there to ensure the damage is enhanced out to ED levels maybe?

    No idea on SR

Everything the devs have said suggests that incomplete missions are stored locally.

That seems rather risky in terms of people opening them in their own text / hex editors and fiddling with them. Bit of a can of worms.

In fact they dropped it from these very forums (rating posters) because they were next to useless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, they were removed because it's very easy to abuse them and various people were doing just that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally I'd equate something being "easy to abuse" to something being next to useless. And my point still stands, I don't see any reason this proposed new system won't be as equally open to abuse and equally useless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I was just being pedantic.

    [ QUOTE ]
You can make as many missions and arcs as you like, its only uploading that is limited. If a mission is poorly recieved you can take it down and you still have it: to work on and improve. Then when it's better you could put it up again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd say all your missions will be "uploaded", as in stored remotely. It'd be silly to store them on the local machine on an MMO (for the reason the fact it'd invite people to hack them in some form to see what they can do ).

I think your chosen arcs will be Published and made public, not uploaded. So the comments about data size aren't really relevant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, there seems to be an implication that the Mission Server is a specific 'box' and that it will be global, like the auction system. Hence uploading. Of course, that could be implemented as a reference to the database on your local server, thus spreading the storage load across a number of boxes, but somehow I'm guessing not.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I know that, what I'm saying though is that all your missions & arcs, even Works in Progress, will be stored remotely on these Mission Servers (so things is automatically uploaded when you finish editing), so the limit on the number of "submitted" stories and arcs is more to do with trying to force people to just publish their very best stuff and not down to considerations about storage capacity.

  13. [ QUOTE ]
Yes - IOs never turn red and become useless like the other enh types. The only drawback in leaving an "old" IO slotted is that it'll be giving you a smaller increase to Acc/Dam/whatever than a higher level one would.

Weighed against that lower level IOs mean, as Hero2 said, that you're less likely to start dropping set bonuses when you exemp.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which really is a rather odd design decision. Means 30-something sets are often dearer than 50-somethings in the Auction houses. Which is damn annoying when you're a 30-something.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Players will be able to publish somewhere around half a dozen or so Arcs up to our Arc server. An Arc is anywhere from one to five missions.

This is, to be honest, ridiculous. It's as if it's designed to make people lose interest in the mission generator. Yeah, sure, you free a slot if you get a mission into the Hall of Fame or Dev's Choice, but most players won't get there (getting into the Hall of Fame is going to require networking more than mission writing) -- and this system ensures they won't stick with it until they do, either.

Surely a time-limited system would be better? Say, limiting uploads to one mission a month or something?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can take arcs down as well though, Posi said that somewhere. So really its not that bad, you can unpublish poorly performing / received ones afterwards.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
So, even if everyone in your SG group gives you five stars on an Arc, you still have the other hundred thousand plus players to balance it out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hooo boy, where to start.

I've published short stories on sites with rating systems, and none of them work. First of all, few people rate. Getting one vote for every 100 view is typical. On the sites where voting is rewarded or mandatory, most people just give the same rating to all stories. (Or they'll give whatever rating is closest to the story's current rating.)

Now, that's the issue of getting valid votes. The second issue is to get views. People use the rating system to select what to read (or which missions to run). This means that stories with a high rating will attract more votes, while stories with a low rating will get very few.

Thirdly, there's going to be a lot of missions, so any particular mission is going to have a practically neglible chance of getting votes from people who choose mission at random, or without regard to the rating.

Taken together, this means that a poor mission with 40 immediate supergroup votes of 5 stars is going to stay at 3+ forever -- it will, slowly, attract votes of 1 or 2, but with a block of 40 5s it's going to take a long time before its rating has sunk below 4. (It'll take 14 votes of straight ones to bring it down below 4 -- but in reality a mission, no matter how bad, won't attract nothing but 1s.)

A really good mission, without any votes from friends, who happen to get a couple of unlucky votes of 3 to begin with, will never climb to the top. It just won't attract enough views, and with that votes, to do so.

(And this doesn't even take into account people gaming the system by systematically giving low rates to storys that compete with their own or to people they don't like.)

"Wisdom of the crowd" rating systems doesn't work online, at least not on their own.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed.

In fact they dropped it from these very forums (rating posters) because they were next to useless.

Hopefully they'll change this system in Beta and just give us access to everything. If they're worried about inappropriate content or use of their AVs they'll just have to police it properly.

If you are so bored/cross/tired/annoyed with the game that you can come onto the forums and say that the last issue had nothing worth having in and looking at the info given so far say the same about the next issue, is there any point in continuing?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Yes.

Some of us play the game for the game, not the new issues. I didn't think much of the last few issues either and don't really do anything from them, I'm still currently having a blast (with Issue 1 or 2 content, in the form of my WS).

Just because someone is unimpressed with an Issue doesn't mean in the slightest they're unimpressed with the game.

I would like a 20-35 co-op zone in DA though

They want to make the next announcement BIG.

Personally I can't see what they can do that's bigger than they already have, but I'm willing to be wrong!

I expect they'll time it to coincide with something that makes sense to the marketing gurus. What the heck that might be I have no idea.

    <Edit by GR: removed text>

Ill be honest the only reason my account is still active is x4 and the vain hope that there mite be some other fun stuff in i13, but as they havent announced anything, it means none of its ready. And if its not ready, it may well not be ready in time.

I enjoy massive parts of this game, but I hate repeatative missions. The mission creator feels like one massive repeatative mission.

There's more to be announced yet, some of which I think you might find appealing.

Another thing that makes me love the CoX community over the WoW one is CoX's complete lack of know-alls who do an Inspect on you and then proceed to ever-so-'helpfully' /tell you: " Ur spec is [censored]* 4 a <insert class here>, u shud go 4 <insert favoured spec of the month here.>

    [/ QUOTE ]

You've been lucky; these kinds of people are certainly about in CoX.

    Memorable examples include:

"You <insert AT>. Why you no have <insert power>. *You have been kicked from the team*"

Level 12 group standing out side a door in the Hollows. "Sorry, I'm not teaming with a tank that doesn't have Taunt".

"All 'trollers and defenders put their aura heal on auto" Any retort to the contrary? Insta kick.

And of course the classic, "I have <unlikely number picked from the air> level 50s, so when I give information, I'm right, and you're wrong".

Times like that I'm glad I largely team with my SG, and that soloing in CoX is perfectly viable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jeez, what sort of oddballs do you attract Steel?

Even on Freedumb I've never come across that (just lots of leaders +2 to anyone else on the team so we're all fighting +4s at level 12, lots of leet speak and an inability to start a mish unless they have 8 people, even if it means standing around for 15 mins while the leader bleats "team LFM" ad nauseum).

I've never come across power fascism at all over here, happily.

Lucky for me too, at the mo I'm playing a WS who tends to press the wrong bind button a lot (in Lobster form, hit taunt and then accidently switching to Squid form is my current speciality. Got a poor Empath killed trying to save my sorry [censored] doing that last night. Happily he was cool about it).

Certainly hope they dont do a name checker, would mean i wouldnt be able to rescue some of my characters who are at their day jobs.

Regarding 1000+ maps, i wonder if you'll be able to select a part of a zone for outdoor missions. I want this now!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since Mayhems and Safeguards use bits of zone maps you should be able to use them. There are other missions which feature instances of zones too like the RWZ one in a burning Portal Corp in PI.
