    Here's an EXPENSIVE BUILD!

Storm Kick -> Crane Kick -> Storm Kick -> Fire Blast -> 0.178 Second interruption -> REPEAT!

183 Single Target DPS (not counting Build Up/Fire Embrace).

AV's you can add in BURN (I'm told they don't run).

    22% Melee Defense

    11% Range/AOE

Weak on the Defense, but I figure combine it with Resists and Healing.

Oh and Hasten is only .7 seconds short of perma.

For team play, Fire Sword Circle, Fire Ball, Blazing Aura, Dragon's Tail, and Consume for AOE damage.

What I haven't figured out yet...is there enough END to run the Single Target AV chain, on your own. It's late. Did enough math getting this much done.
  2. Can I ask, what exactly do you want to do with this scrapper? Farm? PvP? Solo AVs? Just mission team?

    Havoc Punch: 82.58 damage (90.8 w/ 10% crit), 1.716 sec activation time, 48.1 DPA (52.9 w/ 10% crit)

And that's completely ignoring the fact that Charged Brawl recharges faster so it's easier to fit into attack string and that it will be available substantially more often to provide its superior DPA.

Havoc Punch is the attack you are going to take at low levels to fill out your attack string and then spec out of later whenever you've got enough recharge. Charged Brawl is gold. Don't just pay attention to the tier of the attack. It's more important to pay attention to the actual attributes of the power.

    I have a ELM/FIRE/BLAZE build I'm working on. To get a decent amount of defense for my build...I couldn't go CI->CB->JL->CB->Repeat (Roughly 138 DPS...after slotting...ect)

    So I tried CB->JL->CI->Fire Blast->Repeat (Roughly 145 DPS...after slotting...ect).

Couldn't quite get enough recharge to keep the attack chain seemless. Had about .5 second pause.

So...I switched it to HP->JL->CI->FB->Repeat (Roughly 143 DPS...same as other two). Attack chain has no pause, and I lose 2 DPS.

So I guess the question would be, would the .5 second pause lower the DPS of the one chain by only 1 or 2 DPS? Would they be the same? Either way, with a difference of 2 DPS, I doubt it'll be noticable.

This is not taking into account Build Up or Fiery Embrace for DPS btw.

    1. I stand on the belief all ATs should be very good at both solo and team settings.

    2. I also stand on the belief that being both good at solo and team are compatible.

Lets me address my first belief, while certain AT approaches can make it easier to solo than others, it should be cosmetic not drastic. I still point the amount of damage a tank can resist or avoid is consistent and reliable, the Controller and Defender's damage mitigation is not. The fact of having less reliable damage mitigation powers than a tanker, demands a balancing ability of some sort, that actually works, so they can both solo and group as well as the tank.

I saw a poster wisely noted: If a Blaster had all those protections, why would they need a group? Great observation; question: Why does a tanker need a group today? They don't.
Don't believe me? Wait till I16 comes out, and watch how many lonely tanks at group equivalents of 8 going at it, that should prove the point...Some solo to group balance, ah? If you want to farm, do you have a hard time deciding between a Defender and your Tanker? While the question is plainly sarcastic, no one in their right mind would solo farm with a Defender (there are some very special exceptions), the Tanker avenue is much more user friendly and reliable. In fact, I would contend that both the Tanker and Scraper are excellent examples of ATs that does both Solo and Team wonderfully well. I think its time, all the other ATs could do both Solo and Group just as wonderfully well, and I am now including corruptors, dominators, etc.

Now, if we are going to be so group minded, and say that should rule over solo ability, then use the solo nurf bat across the board then. Why should a Tank require MAG 12 status effect when solo? Why should a tank has such high soft cap damage resitance when solo?, why should a tank has such high defense soft caps when solo? How you justify these really nice level of abilities, why should a tank be able to self rez? self heal? where is the dependence here?

Lol half of the defenders primary powers does not even apply to them as is, while a tanker's primary powers are all fully useful in both solo and group settings, is this truly fair?

    Just some food for thought...

    Hugs

Have you played the high level game?

I see Trollers/Defenders doing stuff my scrappers can't.

Do my scrapper solo fast? Yes. Fast enough that, I usually hate to solo the Trollers/Defenders/Tankers.

Tankers may have survivability going for them, and late game more damage, but not really a solo with speed AT.

Now my Trollers/Defenders may solo slower than my Scrapper, but put them on a team, and most of the time, they do more for the overall team, than my scrapper can.

Solo GM's...that goes in the Defender/Troller area, havent heard of a Scrapper doing that yet. :/

Solo AVs...yup, heard alot of ATs have done it. Does it take certain sets? Yes. Force Field isn't one of them, for Trollers/Defenders, but then Force Field has other things going for them.

I remember a Dev Post saying they thought Defenders where perfectly balanced. Though I'd say their Inherent leaves much to be desired.
  7. I was pretty amazed to find "Nemesis Girl" wasn't taken on Virtue.

That said, I understand how the OP feels.

I have a list of names I want on my friend list, that I keep an eye on. Out of that list (full list btw), only 1 name shows up every now and again.

Even sent a few tells out to the global names. Either they're not replying, or they're not logging in.

Had someone send a tell to my global and asked if I was using the name. I hadn't played the toon in a LONG time, and it wasn't 50, hadnt reached the teen lvls yet...so I said sure.

Might do that. Send the global account a message, see if they wouldn't mind giving up the name.

But I agree. I like to keep to names I would think to find in comics. I was comic book, superhero sounding names. Sadly, alot are taken in both game and in the copyright area
  8. Finally started my Claws/EA last night. Got to lvl 12.

So far, I love at least the looks of EA

And while I felt I was the squishiest brute on the team, compared to the Claws/WP, Fire/Fire, and one other...I personally enjoyed it.

I won't let the fact that I died more than any other sway the point just yet. Defense sets are kinda sucky in the low levels. Actually, they're really sucky at low levels.

/INV will have the advantage of a big heal to combine with it's resists/defense...but I think at least for me, Claws/EA will be a welcome change from the Elec/Elec I got to 50

    Elm/Fire/Blaze

Seeing as how I'm working on a ELM/FIRE/BLAZE, I'd like to know...

BURN, does it cause AVs to run?
  11. BrandX is a name of a comic superhero I came up with along time ago. 2 years ago (in December), I used that idea for a DB/WP (it was closer to my original imaging of the character, more so than I could of done previously).

BrandX has basically become my main on Virtue Server. A good 8 (if not more) of those 50's listed in my sig is my toon under a power change (still trying to find that one combo that I get to 50 at and go OMG, I want to just keep playing it).

However, it's not my first forum handle here. My original forum handle was Trilogy. However, the fact that I wasn't able to use the name Trilogy for a hero on my original server, Victory, or the server I xfered to after everyone I knew on Victory left the game, Virtue.

So, I changed it to Joybuzzer. My Elec/Elec Brute. Sadly I hated playing my Elec/Elec Brute, and only got it to 50 out of pure double xp drive, in Jan. of this year. I created the Elec/Elec Brute when it became available as an option.

I then just changed it to BrandX (my main) sometime this year. When? I can't remember for sure. It's when I finally changed my in game global handle to BrandX.

Cause you kill off stuff fast enough , and have very few things hitting you the fury drops really fast , but past 85 fury the drop rate of fury is too fast and done for a purpose .

Did you try to stack up huge amount of minions that attack you while you cannot be hit
By popping purples or activating some accolade powers in your test.
And do crappy damage to them , think in that test envoirement you will find you can maintain it around 95% fury. just they dont last long .
Never got 100% Fury on my Elec/Elec that I can recall, but I also consider myself terrible at Fury generation, but wasn't that the the more Fury you obtain, the fast it disappears?

So you can get 100% But it goes away faster than say it would at 65%.
  13. I think some of the problem is, not many seem to know about (At least for Dark Miasma) the -Regen in Howling Twilight.

I didn't know about it when I leveled my first Dark/ Defender. And the Dark/ Defender's I teamed with weren't using Howling Twilight as a -Regen (though I've seen some using it as a mass stun).

The part the really bothers me, is I don't know why I never noticed it before. I use Mids all the time, and it says it right there, but I just never noticed it.

As people in I know in game, and only one of them knew about it.

I enjoyed the Dark/Ice I had for the 50 levels, but my lack of -regen knowledge for AVs killed it for me.

    But now!

And this assumes I even stay with dark melee and shields. Willpower for the 1000%+ regen, super strength for foot stomp, and several other sets are looking appealing the more I look into things.

I suppose the real question is staring to become, what sort of characters can really take on fully maxed-out settings on their own and do well :P
The shield with IOs can. Go to the scrapper section and ask for help.

This sounds like quite a major thing to do for 1 set, but I am thinking that it could let you be more flexible with power adjustments and customization in other sets, too.

For example, you could get around the cottage rule the same way you did with epic pools. Just add powers. The new granite armor could be the one that works with other toggles but isn't quite as ridiculously strong itself, as is being discussed already.
I think BABs is talking more about graphic wise problems. Not about the fact that Granite can't be in use with alot of the other toggles.
  16. I thank you all!

Because of this thread, I went back and looked over Dark Miasma again.

When I played my Dark/Ice to 50, I didn't know HT had a -regen component. I IOed her out, and she was nice, but now I see...I just wasn't playing her right. I should of been using HT on those AVs!

I just thought HT had a rez and stun ability.

So, what did I do? I went and rerolled a concept I wasn't happy with to Dark/Energy!

So much happier with the concept now! ANd I'm guessing I won't feel terrible on those AV's teams, where I just used TG, TP, DN...for -tohit, -res, and a very small amount of -regen. WIth HT's -500% Regen...I think I'll be very happy with it now VERY HAPPY!

<.< Who care's about the rez. Heh

Okay, then most players of Dark/ and Kin/ don't want to spam their heal. To make it go unnoticed. I never noticed the -Regen component in my Dark/ but then I played it before they showed info, I'll have to go back and check.

I know KIN has it in it's heal, but I find KIN's don't usually want to spam their heal when needed (or at least the KINs I've run with lately, when going up against AVs).

Not to mention all the other things that make me love Dark Miasma (like the singing tentacles ).

It's unfortunate that I have been playing other characters a lot lately... perhaps I should dust him off. (He may just go Rogue.)
Well, if you didn't miss on that heal, you wouldn't have had to teleport them to rez them. ;P

That said, Dark & Storm are great sets. I think people are just going to prefere other sets, because those two sets lack -Regen.

I mean for AV teams, other sets are just better to have.

I know I prefered to take my Cold/ Defender over my Dark/ Defender on most things AV related. The debuff's I just found more useful.
  19. Well, if you're just trying to get her to 50, why worry about IOs?

That said, build for defense would be my suggestion. Fire can be squishy.

SC can be activated in the air. (Lightning Rod requires you to be on the ground)

SC deals its damage in the full 20' radius, meaning it wipes spawns much better. (LR deals its full damage only at a 3' radius, the rest is about half of that)

SC comes a tier earlier in the set. Tier 8 vs. Tier 9, and the Tier 8 is better. Also, the protective set has a better attack than the attack set? Awesome!

SC also has a taunt component (LR doesn't).

The only saving grace about Lightning Rod is that it looks cooler and deals energy damage. But unless you have the whole spawn in a 3' radius, dealing higher damage is unlikely.
Let's be fair. I believe Elec Melee has better ST DPS than Spines. Or were we just talking Brute Primaries?

But yeah. Electric Melee's biggest strength comes in looking pretty.

I keep hoping they'll up the single target damage, but alas I don't think it will happen.

    This.

Soloing with a Tanker is painfully slow.

There's already builds in place for softcapped DM/SHields, that use the best DPS chain for Dark Melee as well (not saying cheap, but possible).

Scrappers tend to have enough survivability, for solo play, that what you really want is damage to make it faster.
  25. Hmmm...I can see a few not liking the change.

I know I personally was hoping for a Lava skin for Granite.

That said, any change you did make, I likely wouldn't mind, and if I did, I know I'd get over it.
