Quote:I have fired a M16. I didn't feel much kick at all really. Admittedly, just fired it in bursts, not full auto, maybe there's more kick that way.Trust me, when you're firing a machine gun on full auto, or absorbing the kick of a shotgun or grenade launcher, it does
Shotgun's depends on the guage you use...so you could say they're low (light?) guage rounds.
I remember firing one the first time (skeet), was nothing. They then gave me different shells, and OMG!
But really...we need END. Hmmm...maybe AR could become the claws of blast sets? END & RCH discount. That could be it's thing.
Oh and up the crit rate on Full Auto. -
<. my ar always reloaded her rifle. sure it was me just saying out the clip and replaces with a new one or something similar...but there you go src="images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg">
Really, don't care for the suggestions. And I still think AR needs buffed some how. -
I'd hope that if you're going to switch sides back and forth all the time, you'll just have to rejoin the SG/VG.
Wouldn't make since any other way. -
Quote:There's quite a few non-lethal options...Well, being allowed to use lethal force doesn't oblige you to do so. There are cops who are quicker to use violence than others. There are heroes who may say that they will never use lethal force. If you gave Spiderman a licence to kill, I don't think he'd go out and start killing off his enemies. Some heroes simply do not believe in killing. I have no problem with those who do. I like Wolverine. I enjoyed his earlier appearances where he slaughtered ninja by the dozens. I have characters who certainly don't mind using lethal force. But for those who prefer to arrest villains rather than decapitate them, it would be nice to have more options. I am not sure how the powesets break down, but it seems that there are quite a few more lethal than non-lethal sets.
All I am saying is that I would like more options. All that has to be done is change the animations in some cases. I still believe DB would look just as good with Escrima sticks. As someone said, you can't stab someone with them, but you can certainly jab them in the gut. As for the comment that if you can pull punches to not kill with super strength, then you can do it with swords, that doesn't make sense. As an adult, I can punch a little kid with enough force to seriously injure him or I can throw a punch that barely bruises him. I can even throw a punch that he barely feels. Injury from punching is based on impact. Sword damage is cutting damage. So if I "pull my punches" with a sword, then I go from major damage to no damage, unless I am using it as a club, hitting with the cliche flat of the blade. I can do that, but why have a sword then? Why not a club or something. Silly comparission.
I don't really get the seeming opposition to this. I know that many of the players here grew up with heroes like Punisher and Wolveriine, but some of us older guys grew up with heroes that didn't kill. I'd like the option to play more types of non-lethal heroes. Yes, as said above, things can be rationalised away (my sword just looks like metal, but is Bokken) and I know that if I don't want to play a fire blaster I don't have to. I am not arguing that. If I don't want to play a lethal character, I won't take a lethal power. But I would like one or two more non-lethal options.
Blaster - Electrical (just enough to stun), Energy (can easily be more blunt force trauma than lethal), Ice (same as energy), Psychic (knock them out with your mind), Sonic (concussion and deafness for awhile). Electrical Manip, Energy Manip, Devices, Ice Manip, Mental Manip...all can be used non-lethally.
Controller - Earth, Gravity, Ice, Illusion, Mind, Plant. All pretty easy to go the non lethal route.
Defender - Dark Blast, previously mentioned Blaster Primaries, Cold Domination, Dark Miasma, Empathy, Force Field, Kinetics, Sonic, Storm, Traps, Trick Arrow. Combine them with any of the previously mentioned blasts...easily can be used as non-lethal combat.
Scrapper - Dark Melee, Electrical Melee, Martial Arts. Nothing says those have to be all that lethal when used.
Tanker - Dark Melee, Electrical Melee, Energy Melee, Ice Melee (don't take blades! :O), Mace, Stone Melee, Super Strength. All those can easily be non-lethal.
From everything I can see, LOTS of non-lethal options to pretty much every AT, with the exception of Scrappers.
This is also assuming your using the the abilities as mentioned. No one says Energy has to kill...ect.
That leaves pretty much the blades/stabbies, fire powers, Assault Rifle (though one could say rubber bullets), and Archery as the lethal use power sets. -
According to Paragonwiki, obtaining a hero license gives a hero the same rights basic rights as the PPD.
If that's the case, you realize police officers are allowed to use lethal force when they are attacked. Which, is exactly what the enemies do to the heroes. -
Quote:Well, doing the math (using arcanatime)...DPA, none of the attacks seem to be that different from each other...Hi guys, I'm am having simlar trouble on power choices with a Cold/Sonic. I'm primarily going for damage, but it's a very tight build. Would it be dumb to skip Shout and simply cycle Shriek, Scream and Howl on a high recharge build? Would skipping Shout severely effect my damage output?
Thanks in advance, and for all the previous replies!
Shriek, Scream, and Shout are pretty close to each other. 25.###, 25.###, and 26.### respectively (if memory serves, but still, they weren't very different)...and since they all do -20% resist, keep the damage going.
I personally don't know how much +RCH you'd have to get however, to chain Shriek and Scream. -
Quote:Yes. Defenders get more +DMG out of it. But in the end, they both cap damage, so it doesn't really matter.I was wondering if a defenders kinetic powers are stronger than a controllers, particularly in regards to Fulcrum Shift.
If not, then why be a kinetic defender when you could be a .../kin troller and get the same powers but with the added damage of a controllers primary?
As to why Defender over Troller?
Besides getting the powers sooner as a Defender, there's the most important aspect...CONCEPT
There's also a difference in playstyle. -
So, what I'm hearing is I should work Screech into my Dark/Sonic build. >.>

Quote:I can see the point that it doesn't make sense that bokken or escrima sticks would do the same kind of damage as a bladed weapon.
On the other hand with power customization, it really shouldn't make any difference what the FX looks like.
A character that can hold "normal" shield on their arm is not necessary going to be strong enough to hold a manhole cover up with one arm! - and that's an option.
There is a baseball bat in the mace weapons-customization selections, so any reasoning behind not allowing batons or baseball bats for dual blades or katana are kind of thrown right out the window.
Bring on the non-lethal power-customizations for the more brutal power sets!
Martial arts?
Super Strength (just don't pick the power to throw boulders at people!)?
Fighting Power Pool?
Ummm....let me requote this...
Quote:There is a baseball bat in the mace weapons-customization selections, so any reasoning behind not allowing batons or baseball bats for dual blades or katana are kind of thrown right out the window.
Dual Blade and Katana are lethal weapon sets. The devs have already said (or was it just BABs?) they weren't going to give lethal damage weapon sets, smashing damage weapon skins and vice versa.
So, no, the reason for it isn't thrown out the window. -
You're super powered, fighting other super powers. They can take a frying and keep on going

Quote:Number wise...I truely couldn't say on that one.I like the added recharge for the AOEs even if I don't need it for the ST chain. I'll have to see how it plays both with and without Hasten and may end up doing as you suggest and dumping it.
This is the one I'll go with, regardless of the Hasten decision. It allows for all three attacks with the Heal procs to fire and up survivability that much more.
In relation to that, does having the three heal procs give me better HP/sec than if I took those three slots out of the attacks and put them in either Health and/or True Grit?
Thanks for the info Brand X, I appriciate it!
However, I'd think keeping the heal procs would be a good thing, as you lack a self heal, this way you have a chance to burst heal just a little with almost every attack.
However, I consider True Grit under slotted.
Quick rearrange of powers, my thought...ditch Hasten, pick up OWTS.
Keep OWTS 1 slotted.
Put Hasten's 2 slots into True Grit for additional HP. More HP means those procs heal you for more as well as getting a bit more regen from having more hit points. -
...anyone know the best single target attack chain for a /Sonic?
Looking at Shriek, Scream and Shout...they all seem to be pretty close to Damage Per Second.
Shriek - Scream - Shriek - Shout - Repeat, I think is the way to go, but looking for varification.
Thanks in advance. -
Athletic Top.
Not sure if it's limited to 9month vets, but seems to be what you're going for. -
I would love to see alternate animations for the melee elemental/energy sets.
Dragon's Tail style kick for Energy Melee/Electric Melee would be great imo.
As would a Eagle's Claw style kick for the those sets. -
To Gaiden, my first thought on the build...you don't even need Hasten.
With Hasten turned off, you can go CB-JL-CB-CI-Repeat.
So I would lose that power, just for the fact that it'll eat more END for no benefit (unless you just want to use it, if you get slowed). I personally would rather put in OWTS into the build for the added "OH NO" moments.
Now CB-JL-CB-CI isn't the best ST attack chain for this build with a 143 DPS with 1 target in range of AAO.
Fire Blast - JL - Fire Blast - CI - <0.142 second pause> - Repeat = 160 DPS with 1 target in range (with the use of Hasten).
CB - JL - CI - FB = 156 DPS with 1 target in range and doesnt need hasten).
CB - CI - CB - FB = 160 DPS with 1 target in range but requires the use of Hasten (to avoid a 0.096 pause between CB and CI past the first run through the chain.
You get a 157 DPS with that last attack chain, if you accept the .096 pause in the attack chain.
Personally, I suggest the CB - JL - CI - FB -> Repeat.
It allows you to ditch the use of Hasten. -
-
Quote::O But I keep mentioning it all the time! I know I'm not Werner. But I do know I've mentioned it MANY times! :P100% Accuracy
99.08% Damage slotted
188.16% Recharge slotted onto Build Up
Chain Induction > Charged Brawl > Jacobs Ladder > Charged Brawl = 138.252 DPS
Chain Induction, Charged Brawl, Fire Blast, Charged Brawl = 143.805 DPS
Huh, didn't expect that
However...CI -> CB -> JL -> FB = MORE DPS!
JL is better DPS than CB.
That said, CI -> HP -> JL -> FB = couple points less in DPS, but alot less +RCH needed to obtain. -
Quote:Wait. So if I read this right. Using Burn isn't helpful at all on a Single Target when your DPS is 154+?yes and no. Burn occurs over 10 seconds. If we assume only a single burn active at a time it is
2.244+10 = 12.244
346.8/12.244 = 28.3 dps
Additionally if you had a build that was producing 150 dps from your single targets you interrupt that for 2.244 seconds meaning you need to make up 2.244*150 = 336.6 lost damage.
If your burn is doing 346.8 damage it isn't until the very last couple ticks that you are even gaining anything and what you do gain is pretty small.
If you have an attack chain gap then burn is great for that. Burn also has tremendous dpe if that is a concern for your build. While FE is up, burn is a much more attractive interjection into your attack chain.
*If your st attack chain is seamless and produces 154 dps or less then burn can be beneficial. If you produce more dps than that you need to weigh the pros and cons.
*154 is just based on the example numbers given for burn.
Edit: whether you resolve burn's damage in its cast time or over the life doesn't really make much difference for whether or not you'd use it in a scenario where a static target is present, but looking at it over the lifetime does help clarify what is occurring.
Or it only becomes useful when using it with FE? -
Quote:Quills never negated the redraw of your spines to begin with.
Will the fact that Quills no longer negates redraw make me stop playing Spines Scrappers?
Yes, you always saw your spines, buit your character still went through the "I'm redrawing animationm".
Another thing, Spines never got the treatment of the other sets. So redraw shouldn't be hurting your dps, like it does the other sets. (if memory serves me correctly).
That all said and done. One of the reasons I was happy to make my Spines/WP. I was thinking which set (it was between Regen and WP), and WP won out due to no clickiness of WP's part. -
Assault/Defense AT would be nice
That said, right now...all I want to see from it, to make me completely happy with it...
Dual Pistols and Thermal Radiation ported to Defenders.
Though that said, I'll easily make a Thermal/DP Corr and go over blue side with it. -
Quote:O.O And Eviscerate is so sexy to use! Also Follow Up -> Eviscerate -> Focus, which is about the same DPS for lower recharge (+274%) than Follow Up -> Focus -> Slash, plus has a nice AoE.
Hmmm...any one know off the top of their head how FU -> Evis -> Slash -> Focus, would do in DPS?
Basically all my favorite attacks to use with claws. -
Quote:But it can take PBAOE sets that have ACC as part of the IOBurn isn't auto-hit and can't be enhanced for accuracy, so you have to keep that in mind when calculating DPS. Not sure if tohit buffs or global accuracy affect it.
Plus I'm taking tactics, and the build I have planned has +ACC as well.
I was just trying to figure out how I add in the DPS of Burn to the ST DPS of Electric Melee.
Havok Punch (note: Charged Brawl here would increase the DPS by 2-4 DPS, but I can't make it nonstop with CB on my build) -> Jacob's Ladder -> Chain Induction -> Fire Blast -> Repeat
According to mids, gives better DPS than, CB -> JL -> CB -> CI -> Repeat (Electric Melee's best DPS chain without using outside attacks).
I'm hoping the 32-35% Melee Defense & 20% Range/AOE Defense will be enough to do all the fun things I never hear about /Fire Armor Scrappers doingAnd with Burn, make it pretty fast.

Quote:/DA or /Shield.I need help deciding a secondary, and probably a build for it. Primary must be fire. Secondary cannot be Regen or Willpower. Here's more details:
- Need to be able to solo to 50 at a reasonable pace, not a powerhouse, but doesn't die often.
- Works well in teams.
- Works well with a Magic/Witch origin.
- Doesn't look dorky.
The Dark Element shield can easily pass for a magic style, or any of the others if you want.
/DA as always feels magicy. -
Quote:I love WP! I even started a Spines/WP with i16.As the title says, I'm looking to make a Dual Blades scrapper. I'm trying to decide what his secondary will be. My favorite character has been my SS/WP brute and I'm open to making the scrapper WP, I'd just like the opinion of the scrapper experts. This will be for all around PVE,both solo and teamed. Thanks
WP just fits so many concepts (my Spines/WP for example is more of a darkity type...it's basically a reroll of my Spines/Dark), even more so with power customization.
My suggestions for DB pairing...
/INV toggles, passives, and a click power that doesn't need to be hit often.
/SR PB on auto gets hit pretty often, but not to bad otherwise.
/DA just for the coolness factor of it.Lvl one up to lvl 35, but rerolled for RP reasons.
/FA just like /DA, coolness factor. But you'll hit your heal even more often than /DA in my experience.
/Regen to clicky to use with DB in my opinion.
/ELEC, havent tried it, so can't say on it.
...so if your not going to go for concept (which is what I go by for deciding the power sets), and looking strictly for a IO out and lay waste toon...hmmm...imo...DB/INV can be made sweet, and can be made toughAnd you just don't see alot of /INV scrapper anymore.

Quote:Follow Up -> Slash -> Focus -> Slash -> RepeatWhats the best Claws attack chain for ST?
Is there a best for AOE?
also since it's somewhat related.
There was a thread which sought to figure out which was better swipe or strike, previously, the conventional wisdom was take which one you like the look of better, but the thread, which had alot of Bill Zubba (Claws Maniac Extraordinaire) in it, seemed to have figured out that there was actually a difference, one was better.
I cant find the thread so I'm hoping someone can link it or tell me what the outcome was.
or if you can really pull off the +RCH needed for it
Follow Up -> Slash -> Focus -> Repeat
Sorry, can't help you on the best AOE for claws.
