Personally, I don't want a "Instant 50" button, but I would be very happy to have an "Instant 22" Button.
And if it weren't for the need for stamina, I wouldn't want that.
Most sets-- especially Controllers and Scrappers which tend to be my favorite sets-- need stamina to really blossom. So from 16-20 it's almost always the Fitness Pool for me.
So once I get my travel power at 14, I know that it's going to be 8 more levels before I get to try a NEW power.
Until you get to 22-- SO and Stamina level-- you can't really be sure if a set your playing is going to be fun or not. If I could save the time to just get there and see what I think of the set right away, I'd be very happy.
And on a Content level ... well, to be honest, most of the old content isn't worth playing. Vahzilok have a damage type you most likely don't have a defense to, Clockwork drain endurance you're already having trouble dealing with ... it's just not a lot of fun.
Maybe the new Going Rogue Content will be great (and the Devs have certainly done good work with Faultline and RWZ), but this game badly needs a Content overhaul.
If the Journey rather than the Destination is your selling point, then you really want to make sure you have first class accomodations if you want to build or maintain your player base. -
It was on the final Croatoa arc. I was level 32. Setting at level 2, probably. As I recall, the end usage even with stamina was horrendous which could have been part of the problem with it right there: I was running out of juice. And also, the Redcaps do -defense with their attacks and are fairly large mobs on that map, so it was probably more the guys hitting me at a distance than the ones in melee who were hurting me.
It isn't to say that you'd have the same trouble I did. Everyone has their own play style and tactics. I mean, I could probably PM you my build and you could try to exemp, but given that you still get an extra 5 levels when you do exemp it wouldn't be an exact match to what I was facing. -
To be fair, my BS/SD stalled out in Croatoa when I got into the Redcaps, and that's a bad foe to face with a defense set.
And I don't deny that BS is a heavy hitter. -
I just got my Electric/Electric Scrapper to 50 this weekend during Double XP, and I have to say that it's a real blast.
For a Scrapper, it seems to be a really tough set. It does wonderfully well against Rikti, Freakshow, Carnies (except for those cursed Strongmen).
I've got several Regen Scrappers, a Fire Armor Brute, a WP Scrapper, and a couple of WP Brutes.
Is there any set that gives the same rush that Elec/Elec does? (I love my other Brutes and Scrappers, but the Elec seems to really do well against the things that they crumble against.)
I've thought doing a Shield Scrapper or Tank with Electric Melee as well, but I'm not sure how much fun that would be compared to Electric Armor ...
Anyone done both who has some input for me?
My BS/Shield Scrapper is stuck at 32 because the set just seemed so slow to me... -
I buy the KB protection IOs for Fire or Dark Armor (and now an Electric Armor toon 'cause of the hole when you jump) characters, but mostly I slot generic ios only when I have the salvage that's dropped for them.
I kinda LIKE making IOs ... but only when it's from salvage that I've earned rather than bought. Weird, huh? -
There's probably a reason why we can't have it, but ...
I was thinking last night while I was busting out my Archer Blaster.
I just don't like the SOUND the archery set makes when you use it. I'm not super crazy about the sound of some other sets either.
Any chance that someday we may be able to pick the sounds our sets make when we activate them? -
Thanks, guys. Glad you liked it.
I'm debating on if I can pull off a meeting between Lil' Liberty and Recluse... -
One of the earliest memories that Jessica Megan Duncan has of her grandfather is a picnic in Perez Park.
She couldnt have been more than four years old, but she felt like quite the big girl because she walked all the way from the car without once being carried by Grandpa. Grandpa wasnt wearing his working clothes, and no one seemed to know who he was. That seemed to make him happy; Grandma said Grandpa was happiest when he was treated like everyone else.
Mommy and Daddy were away on some kind of grownup business (Megan didnt really understand what it was), so she was staying with her grandparents. Grandma hadnt been feeling well, so it was just her and Grandpa today. Megan could tell that Grandpa didnt like leaving Grandma at home, but Grandma had insisted they come.
Megan liked spending time with Grandpa. He told her the best stories about what Paragon had been like when he was a little boy. Sometimes theyd let Grandma sleep in, and theyd watch old movies on the TV. Grandpa would tell her about meeting the movie stars and show her pictures of himself in his working clothes with them.
Today, they were going to eat the lunch that Grandma had made for them, take a walk around the park, and go for a ride in one of the paddleboats on the lake. Grandpa even told her they might go flying later if she were a good girl, so she was on her best behavior.
It wasnt easy, though. Megan was a curious, smart girl, and she often saw things that adults didnt expect her to. This meant that sometimes she would say or do things that no one expected her to.
Megan knew that her grandfather was different from other grandpas. Grandfather Duncan wasnt like Grandpa Cole at all. He was old and wrinkly, like Grandma Cole. Megan didnt understand why this was so.
Grandpa?
Yes, baby? She noticed that Grandpa always seemed to be looking around like he expected something to happen.
Why arent you old?
I am old, honey. Im older than anyone you know.
Older than Grandma Cole?
Yes. And he sighed.
Megan squeezed his hand. She felt bad, though she didnt understand why. Why dont you look old?
Thats a long story, baby.
I want to know! Megan insisted.
Marcus Cole laughed. I know, sweetie. Youre just like your mother and grandmother. You never give up. He walked over to a picnic table and set their basket down. A very long time agobefore your Mommy and Daddy were born, evenI was very sick.
Did you have to get a shot? I hate shots!
No, baby. No shot in the world could help me. There was only one thing that could. He shut his eyes. So long ago he whispered.
What could help you, Grandpa?
A special magic water. Some friends and Isome very good friendswent looking for the water. We found it, and when I drank it, I got all better. In fact, I was better than I had ever been before.
Is that why you can fly?
Uh huh.
What happened to your friends?
Theyre gone now
Grandpa looked so sad that Megan stood up on the picnic bench and wrapped her arms around his neck. Dont be sad, Grandpa!
He hugged her back. Thank you, sweetie.
And the magic water is why you dont get old?
Uh huh. I havent gotten any older since that day over 50 years ago
Wow. Megan had no idea her Grandpa was that old! Did you know President Washington?
Grandpa laughed and hugged her. No, honey. Even Im not that old!
Will Mommy never grow old?
Grandpa shook his head. She takes after your Grandma.
Oh. Megan frowned. What about me?
We dont know yet, honey.
I bet its neat to not grow old
Megan. Grandpa turned around so she was looking him in the face. Honey, listen to me. You would not want my life. You wouldnt want to stay the same while everyone and everything you know ages and changes I would never want that for you or your mother
Megan squirmed. She didnt like the look in Grandpas eyes. She was smart enough to know that he was trying to tell her something important, but she was young enough to not want to understand. Im hungry.
Grandpa hugged her tightly. Okay, baby. Lets eat that lunch your Grandma made us. Im sure I saw some cake in there
I love you, Grandpa, Megan said suddenly.
I love you too, sweetie. Marcus Cole smiled sadly as he held her tight. And thats one thing Im glad will never change -
Quote:I don't know if she could or not. (Who would take care of her body for those months at a time when she was running around as someone else?)Couldn't she have done that, though? I admit that there's no explanation as to why; at least, there isn't any that I know of.
And if she did, how heroic does that make her?
Would it be very heroic of Shalice to fight crime in someone else's body, putting that body at risk while her own stays safe and sound?
(Hm. That sort of gives me an idea for a dark fic/MA about Sister Psyche ...) -
Okay, I got my base set up.
I have one teleporter, and bins for Salvage, Inspirations, and Enhancements.
I used the very basic combo control/power set, and so far I am not going beyond the power needs it supplies.
Somehow I created recessed flooring in a couple of places where I don't want it and I'm trying to figure out how to rectify that.
I was very tempted to get the Supercomputer but so far I have resisted the temptation.
(It's not that I think I'll ever need its functions, but with a big LCD Screen in front of it it'd look a lot like the trouble alert from the Superfriends.)
I think that I'll have to put in some decoration as my control room looks very bare, but I can't seem to put much in there that's functional.
Do I need the Basic Workbench for anything other than making teleporters? -
I just hit 41, and I took Lightning Field to see what it'd like.
I was on the Bile Freakshow map (enemies were now -1 to me as it had been set to plus 0 plus 8 at 40). I put a generic IO end reducer in the slot.
Visually, I like it because it adds more of an "electric" feel to my Scrapper. It was ticking at about 22 points of damage against the -1 Freakshow.
I'll try the mutli-strike that Hejt's suggested to see how I like that.
I'm taking Conserve Power, Focused Accuracy, and Physical Perfection for my Epics.
I haven't tried him solo against upper level COT yet, or fought Carnies or Malta. (I'd love it if he could PWN Malta...)
The only thing that's given him real trouble so far since he got post Lightning Rod has been Nemesis. Even without vengeance the Lts. are nasty ... >.< -
Quote:Yes, if she chooses not to use her 'Mindride' signature ability
If I was Statesman I would just have meaningless one-night stands with whatever thousands of women he gets to rescue, without any type of feelings involved whatsoever.
(I'd stay away from my own granddaughter though, cause that's just creepy)
Ah, but if you were having thousands of one-night stands with women you saved how could you be sure one of them WASN'T your daughter, granddaughter, or even great-granddaughter? -
Quote:I don't think that Sister Psyche's power can work the way they say it has. She literally is close to being 90 years old, but she doesn't look physically any older than mid-30s.Wouldn't Sister Psyche now age normally because she is in her original body again?
If she only doesn't age when she's mind-riding someone, then she'd have to spend at least 2/3 of her life outside her own body .... -
Would you marry someone who aged normally?
As far as we know, Marcus Cole hasn't been involved with anyone since his wife passed away-- and if The Freedom Phalanx novel was canon, that would be nearly 25 years ago. That's an awfully long time to be single.
Shalice Tillman married a man who's probably 50 years younger than she is, who grew up in a world of differing expectations and societal mores. She lived through World War 2, Woodstock, the civil rights movement -- was Manticore even alive during Woodstock?
Knowing you might have centuries ahead of you, would you risk falling in love with someone who'll grow old in what might seem like the blink of an eye to you?
And if you did-- once you went through that-- could you do it again?
If you were Statesman, would you marry again? -
How old is Miss Liberty, Ms. Liberty's mother?
Villains fight her in 1963, but it's not clear if she's native to that time period or has journeyed through time herself.
If she did not travel through time, does she age at a reduced rate due to her parentage because it does seem unlikely that she would have a child Ms. Liberty's age if she was already an adult in 1963 ... -
I understand what you guys are saying, but I think that if I were in charge of the franchise I'd want the "Faces of the game" (Manti, States, etc) to play a major role in the show so that when someone who catches the show decides they want to try the game they'd have an easier time finding the box.
And, too, I just find the original characters pretty interesting. -
I think I had Desdemona the Glint mixed up with Kara the Scorpion the first time I heard of GR's Desdemona's back story because i was thinking, "Wait. States didn't kill her mom-- he just broke her back ..."

If we ever get the kind of customization that I'm hoping for, I'm going to FINALLY get to realize a Thug MM the way I want him to be.
Basically, I want to make all my Thugs look like my character ... with his mutant power being self duplication ... -
Quote:I'm still of the opinion that someone who had a hand in game-lore had an old flame named Penelope ...Two women named Desdomona?! They must be parallel dimension analogues of each other! The resemblance is uncanny....
Or maybe not. But what a coincidence. It would be like having two young girls both named Penny in the game. What's the odds of that happening?
It's not exactly the most common name and I think there's also a baddie in Croatoa named Penny you fight as well ... -
FINALLY got the old links updated. This post is to add newer stories:
Atropa Belladonna: Ghost Widow's Story
Secret Citadel (Citadel's Story)
Inspirational: Patrick Duncan's Story
Broken Circle: Akarist's Story -
I think that many of the NPCs should be given a new look. Not EVERYONE, but I think at least some of our older contacts could do with a new look.
Here are my candidates:
1. Azuria. She should be given a more mystical look. For some reason, I think she'd do well with something Gypsy-like. (She should NOT show skin, but I think she needs something that screams "Magic" rather than "I shop at the Dime Store.")
2. Gregor Richardson. If he's the rebel mage, then the dude needs a trenchcoat.
3. Rick Davies. He was active up until the Rikti War and then had to retire. SHOW us why he gave up the job as a hero. Give him a prosthetic arm or artificial eye or both.
4. Jake Montoya. He lost his leg in battle with the Clockwork King. Give him a pegleg as we don't really have a good non-bionic limb he could use.
5. Statesman. The dude needs a major new look. Get rid of the face plate or give him a full helmet. Give him short sleeves and wrist bands, maybe-- long sleeves and gloves just don't scream super strength to me.
Who do you think needs a new look and what would you like to see? -
Quote:Gregor gets a pass because he has the whole "Bad boy of magic" thing going for him. (I'm surprised they didn't give him a trenchcoat after those became available.)She tells you that the items were stolen from the Vault, not from her. SHE was not the last person in the chain of custody, Gregor was. She's just the one you're dealing with, and she doesn't mention him because, frankly, that's unimportant to the task at hand. The important thing is recovering the Wheel of Destruction or the Scroll of Tielekku.
The whole issue also has something to do with the fact that for a while, Galaxy City and the alternate starting contacts didn't even EXIST, but that's a different story.
And if Azuria is Gregor's superior, then she bears the brunt for the loss of the items. Something as important as the Wheel of Time should be given the highest priority for MAGI.
And to be fair, Skipper LaGrange mentions that he got the Ghost Detecting Wand out from under Azuria's nose so it's not like it's not canon that she has a habit of losing things.
(Full disclosure: In my AE Arc, I have some text where you find a magic charm that Azuria uses to defend herself. The charm is engraved with "If Found, Please return to Azuria, Magi, Atlas Park" on it.) -

Since most of my fiction revolves around working within canon, there isn't much I can immediately think of that I'd like to see made official, but ...
I do like the additions I made to Ghost Widow's background in my recent story ...
And I wouldn't mind my story about Mynx that connected her background to the Can Man in Skyway was made official, either. -
Quote:In my head-- where the lore is often more interesting!I agree. When you click on her in Outbreak for more info, she actually has a back story. Why not flesh her out a bit? Her heroic career should parallel pretty much every hero in the game since she starts out at the same time. Perhaps make her a contact/ally like Doc Delilah in Faultline.
-- I have an addition to Flower Knight's backstory myself.
In my version, Flower Knight manages to complete the Outbreak mission by herself and goes into Paragon City and has a heroic career all her own. She reaches Level 50, and makes some huge mistake that results in unmitigated disaster for the entire world. She's then approached by Mender Silos who tells her that she was never meant to have all the adventures that she had and have the role that she did in Paragon City, so she becomes an agent of Ouroboros trying to find the right hero who can prevent the disaster she failed to prevent ...
Which explains why she's constantly in Outbreak, and we only otherwise see her in Ouroboros.
