I know what you're saying, but I'm thinking they have a good reason to put it the way it is. And I will reiterate:

"I think it's fine as is, and any work to "improve" by allowing some powers is unneeded."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I understand what you mean. A clean sweep was easier and why chance messing it up.

My answer: Because it's just annoying. "QoL"

Alternatively they could move the tutorial contact closer to the door. That would be enough for me and would allow me to ignore the room in general, which is what I plan to do.

  2. [ QUOTE ]
A flat out no powers work is *insert code rant here* much easier to code successfully than a partial block.

Outside of the few steps from the door to the terminal, what do you need auto powers for in there anyway ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, if the contact you had to talk to during the tutorial wasn't all the way on the other side of the room I wouldn't complain. I don't plan on using the room for the tables as I have no issues with lag. I do have an issue with spending more time running to and from that contact than I do on the rest of the tutorial though.

Note: I have already fully read the tutorial and understand how the system works. I just need to get rid of an active contact for 143 more characters now.

  3. I'm only talking about Self Auto Powers (powers that are always on once you have chosen/achieved them) that have no auras or effects. I don't think Self Destruct would fall into that category since it's a click power.

  4. Does Studio B have to suppress even Self Auto Powers?

I mean, I can understand the auras, the perma clicks and such, but why can't I keep my Swift, Hurdle, Atlas Medallion, Phalanx Reserve, etc. (which have no visual effects) in that room.

I swear, I run in there with a level 50 with Swift and suddenly it feels like I'm in a tar patch.

Can we ease up on that Power Suppression just a tad maybe?
  5. We want to ditch that kool new building already, even though it has a no power room (Studio B) for people who get lag with extensive graphics? Wow! Guess the kool factor doesn't count for much around here.

Seriously though, since the Architect missions can be run cross faction, I don't see a reason for them to be blocked from cross faction teaming. And Pocket D seems a logical place to put such a thing, so I am in on the OI.

As for putting an Architect table in bases though, come on people! They just created one of the koolest buildings ever to be installed in the game and you want to abandon it just like that. Shame on you all.

  6. If you're all so concerned that there isn't any real work being done to deserve a badge then I suggest adding a test mission portion to the Tutorial to get players used to actually choosing and playing the missions.

That would make it more of a challenge and more worthy of a badge and would help stiffle questions like, "Now how do I test my arcs?" that I hear from players just moments after they finished the Tutorial.

    You answered your own question...

    [ QUOTE ]
For someone who plays many many alts (like many of us), how is one to tell which have done it and which have just been in the building?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
...the Instructor vanishes from your contact list when it is complete.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I said that, man.

"... short of noting that the contact doesn't appear on your list."

When you play 147 characters, most of which are above level 30 at this point and have active and inactive contact lists a mile long, it's not really an easy task to track down a contact which is not there.

If the contact was there, with a little filled up progress bar, that would be a different story.

  8. [ QUOTE ]
The MA tutorial all but forces you to walk within range of the exploration badge in the AE building. Tada! Your tutorial badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But really, that just shows that you were in the building. There really appears to be no way to tell if a particular character has done the tutorial or not, short of noting that the contact doesn't appear on your list.

Since the mission is not an arc, there is no Souvenir. There is no Badge to look for. And the Instructor vanishes from your contact list when it is complete. For someone who plays many many alts (like many of us), how is one to tell which have done it and which have just been in the building?

    /signed

I would like a badge simply for tracking purposes. Add a defeat all mission to it if you feel you must.

but confuse needs to lose the wavy hands.. give it the animation from TK thrust.. that one is cool. Wavy hands sucks harder than pink for the colour.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Leave my wavy hands alone. It's one of the few animations that is actually fitting for a stage magician or mentalist.

  10. You're doing it wrong. Just because hero Safeguards work one way doesn't mean that villain Mayhems should work the same way.

Check out my guide for tips on how to do a Mayhem mission properly.

I personally love the way Mayhem missions work as opposed to Safeguards. Villains can build up so much more time than heroes ever can and all before ever stepping foot in the bank.

Edit: to note that I can solo a Mayhem mission with any AT and powerset combo, and you can too.

  11. Nice. Yes, I like these ideas.

I was actually wishing for a walkietalkie emote just last night while playing my Merc/ MM. I always set an emote for my contact toggle and that would look so much more appropriate than the cellphone emote.

    Keep the ideas coming people!

the only thing I can think of with this is known as the time stream effect..

As we all know Enstine once made with in theory that what we do in the past may effect the future, that means that whatever we heroes or villains do in the 1940's - 1950's may affect the change of history.

And of course you know what that means.. it'll open up a can of worms to a whole new reality.

    like for example:

the pervention of the Rikti invasion.

pervention to the death of Hero 1.

Stopping the Arachno threat before it get's out of hand.

and this effect would have a tramatic effect on both Paragon City and the Rogue Isle's

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sure you mean prevention and traumatic. And you're getting better but you still need to capitalize more often.

Also, if you read the Join Ouroboros arc you know that the whole "butterfly effect" theory is why they exist. To prevent alterations in the time stream that would cause a temporal paradox

    Did Jay get modded?

I think so, along with every other post that was a reply to his.

  15. [ QUOTE ]
Didn't we get a Dev response on this subject before?

Wasn't the problem less to do with offending people and more that they didn't want to go to the hassel of putting every single countries flag in the game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, and I offered a perfectly sound solution that is for some reason now gone.

Simply make the flag capes of all of the countries where the game is distributed and give distribution area as the reason for the limited selection. The they would only ever need to make new flag capes when the distribution area increased to include other countries.

  16. [ QUOTE ]
Really... There isn't. But I don't think there is a way to place a ground target area of effect 'behind' a target, either.

    -Rachel-

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually you can, but the knockback is always based off of your character's location, not the location of the power placement. So, like you said, it would have be some sort of TP Foe.

  17. [ QUOTE ]
Oops. I forgot to edit my first entry pointing to the less magical revamp in a reply further down.

    Fixed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Saw that one too. Again it sounds like it could be reasonably role played using a Gravity Control set. Remember just because it says Gravity Control doesn't mean you can't imagine it as something else. It can also work well thematically as Magnetic Control, Time Control, Molecule Control or Telekinesis.

  18. With the way this set sounds, it seems as if you could role play all of this using a Dark Miasma set, though personally I would prefer to use Illusion or maybe Gravity Control.

Powersets in this game are usually more ambiguous. This seems pretty hard-line Magic origin.

    Try try again.

    COH Golden Age

You can already make very nice Golden Age style costume a plenty. There are a ton of retro looking costume parts and patterns. Just what is there that they could possibly add.

I'm in favor of more time travel material. I just can't think of anything Golden Age costume-wise that can't already be done with available options.

Edit: I don't think anything like this necessarily has to be released as a box set that we have to spend more money on, especially in these financial times.

Better to keep subscribers happy then lose a whole lot because of a perceived greediness.

The MA Box will be on the shelves. There is no need to create an "expansion" to get shelf presence.

  21. Come on. Someone's got to have some more ideas or some feedback or something?

    Speak up, people!

  22. We already have a number of emotes that create props for the character to use. I think that this style of emote would solve our chair sitting problems and would like to (once again) suggest that the devs rebuild a lot of the sit emotes to work with props.

So, instead of trying to position yourself just perfectly on that bar stool or chair, a bar stool or chair could just appear so that you sit on it properly without all the fussing around to get it to look right. This would also make it possible for the Huge models to sit in chairs they are never actually able to sit in because of their size.

These are the emotes I would like to see remodeled in this way:

    /e sitchair1
    /e sitchair2
    /e sitchair3
    /e sitexecutivechair
    /e sitstool
/e sittable1 (placing the character in a chair in the table pose, not including a table)
    /e sittable2

In addition I would like to suggest a few that I've seen enemies use:

    /e sitbox1
    /e sitbox2
    /e sitcrate
    /e sitfridge

And more than a few that don't exist:

    /e sitbenchlaptop
    /e sittablelaptop
    /e sitdesk
    /e sitdeskcomputer
    /e sitplayingcards
    /e sitbeachumbrella
    /e sitbeachlounge
    /e laydown
    /e laydownbeachtowel
    /e laydowncoffin
    /e laydownsleep

    Plus:

    /e jugglefruit
    /e jugglebowlingpin
    /e juggletorch

    /e newcellphone
    /e sitnewcellphone
    /e sitbenchnewcellphone
    /e yoganewcellphone
    /e texting
    /e sittexting
    /e sitbenchtexting
    /e yogatexting

    /e crystalball
/e sitcrystalball (including a small round table)
    /e yogacrystalball

That's about all I can think of right now. Add any others you think would be good and feel free to give opinions on the overall suggestion. Thanks!

    Group Fly

    [ QUOTE ]
The only problem I see with a 4 minute fly buff is that if it's non-refusable, non-cancellable, it might really mess up, say, my Stone/Stone Brute. Even without a to-hit debuff, I'm still losing Fault, Hurl Boulder, Tremor, Rooted and possibly Granite Armour.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh yeah. Not to mention the problem of running out of time in the middle of flight while you are 800 feet above the ground. OUCH!

    I repeat my previous statement:

What we really need is a list of the offending buffs added to our Options menu with selections that allow us to ignore those effects completely.

    Group Fly

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Instead of "Group Fly" maybe it should be "Grant Fly" and give players the same prompt that exists for Recall Friend. I think that'd be a cool change and the new Grant Fly power would likely get more use than Group Fly does currently.

Group Fly is pretty terrible as is. The few times I recall teammates using the power were promptly followed by requests from teammates to turn it off.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is the best idea I've heard so far. Drop the -toHit and make this power a 4 min click. While it might not be taken because it may not grant the user fly anymore, it would certainly get more use in the team.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As long as it doesn't cost too much Endurance, I'd be fine with that. I use Group Fly frequently for my MMs and would hate to have yet another power to apply that drains my Endurance dry.

  25. Blackavaar

    Group Fly

    [ QUOTE ]
Given it's a toggle, yeah, a prompt would work better than the (also often suggested) "cancel buff" bit. I know it irritated the heck out of my Stalker who'd have her AS interrupted by a teammate with this on (Bots MM) and suddenly find I'm flying... with lower acc. Or my Earth controller who suddenly couldn't use the various "Must be on the ground" powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But since it's a toggle, how would that prompt work? I mean, would it pop up every time you left and re-entered the area? What about if the power owner flies away and then returns? That could end up being extremely annoying.

What we really need is a list of the offending buffs added to our Options menu with selections that allow us to ignore those effects completely.
