I leveled a tri-form PB to 50 and enjoyed being a jack-of-all-trades/master-of-none. This was back in I3 or I4. The hardest part for me was tray management until I learned how to make binds.
The next hardest part was quantums and voids. They have been nerfed a bit and we have been buffed a bit (quite a bit if you include IOs), so it isn't as bad as it used to be.
The third problem I had was the long animation to change forms. Many were the time that I died in mid-transformation. At the same time, I loved dive bombing a group as a Nova with my AOEs, switching to dwarf on the way down, and stomping my foot as my stupid heat-seeking missles slowly caught up to me and picked a target. If I got the timing right, it was a thing of beauty and wonder.
The final thing that bothered me (and still does) was the inability to customize forms, even a little bit. I would be so happy if we could have a cape or a sash to place on a form and choose the color or pattern for it.
I had a warshade that my son started and we got to the teens and then I deleted. My PB was already 50 or close to 50 and it did not seem as fun to me. Now that I have more experience under my belt, I should try making a new one. -
I haven't experimented (or even set foot in Sirens in months) so I don't know how the new +5 superSK feature interacts with set bonuses in PvP zone.
I can tell you that due to Diminishing Returns and other PvP nerfs, hitpoints, procs, and KB protection are what PvP characters are building for. And for level 50 activity in Recluse's Victory and Arena. Having bonuses to get you softcapped defense or having crazy levels of recharge gets all but eliminated by DR. -
Heh. I had the same idea. From the low level IO thread:
Quote:I think 35 is the way to go so that you can add ITF and Numina (or Ice Minstral redside) to the TF's you can run. It's also a nice number for recipes to drop at. Swellguy mentioned that he has seen stuff that ends in 0s and 5s sell quicker and for higher than off numbers. That reflects my experience as well.I've been thinking about this thread over the course of the week and I've decided that I am going to make a character to sit at 35 permanently (or at least until further notice). This character will run TFs and story arcs for merits and AE for tickets.
I usually hoard stuff, but this character will slot what he can use and sell the rest. If enough of us do this, we can reverse this trend and have a viable 35-40 market.
NOW WHO'S WITH ME?!?!
I have some villains on Freedom that I could lock at 35. I need to double check my heroes, but I might just make a new one as well. -
We are planning to visit San Antonio in summer 2010 and was wondering if anybody could give me advice/tips on what to do, where to stay, etc.

If he's dead, he can't claim the 4 hours I owe him from the Justice Character Auction.

Sorry to hear about that, Leo. And I'm glad that you are OK. If you haven't already, you should report it to law enforcement.
Whenever I'm walking around at night, or feel unsafe, I put my keys in my hand and make the two longest keys stick out between my fingers. I am now a claws scrapper. Villains beware! -

Quote:Looking at these odds as an example from the Illinois Lottery, I think I'd take the known quantity. My mom would take the tickets regardless. She loves those things.Depends on the chances of winning with the lottery tickets I guess.

Recharge will have you throwing out lots of attacks and debuffs, but you still need to stay alive and the endurance to keep fighting. AM and some of the recovery uniques and procs should give you enough endurance to last. Most AV killers will want to soft cap ranged defense and some kind of flight (even if it's a puchasable jet pack) to stay out of reach of the AV.
While Defender's radiation infection get's you most of your defense, you'll still want some of your own in case the toggle drops. -
Quote:And Vanguard merits too. Not quite a farm, but I like completing the RWZ arcs as well to add regular merits to the mix.Relevant Rikti XP mods
Communications Officer: 1.2 (of lieutenant)
Guardian: 1.2
Infantry: 1.2
Quantum Infantry: 1.2
Headman (31-40): 1.2
Chief Mentalist: 1.6
I wouldn't say its necessarily the best, I don't have my finger on that particular pulse, but they certainly are juicy. I like running them on my 50s for inf and drops. -
Not sure if he would be interested, but Toona has run lots of successful Justice PvP tourneys in the past, as have Smokesignal and Ramses the Dead, but I don't see those two around much anymore.
Ice Knight/DJ Brainfreeze also runs good tourneys but that poor guy is more overbooked than the last flight out of New Orleans before a hurricane. -
In 50 rolls at 30-35, I can almost guarantee one or more LoTG +recharge, Numina +reg/+rec, Miracle +recovery, Obliteration quad, and other notable runner ups.
I was actually hoping that one or more would have done the random rolls and that you would have been kind enough to report the results. Ah well, so much for me living vacariously.
In other news, I got to the party late due to X-mas shopping so I didn't get to compete or even earn a door prize.
I thought for once that NOT being Pum's friend would help me. Rats! Foiled again.
From what I did see, it was well attended, attracted some very cool costumes, and was run smoothly. Congratulation to the winners and to Pum, Chloe, and crew. -
Another factor to consider in grouping or herding mobs is that sometimes, there just isn't enough room to get all the NPCs following you inside your aoe. They start bouncing around each other and moving left and right trying to get a lick in.
Footstomp almost universally catches all the mobs on the edges, as well as those close in, while the other melee AOEs frequently leave a few untouched. Overtime that adds up to a lot of lost mitigation and damage. -
Quote:Ouro missions are also called "flashbacks." They contain the same story arcs your character completed, or could have completed, on the way to 50. You can repeat any particular arc as often as you like or try different ones. It's all up to you.A quick question about the Ouro missions...Is there a finite supply of them or do they keep generating like the police radio missions?
If the mission is at a level less than 50, your character is exemplared down to the highest level for that story arc, but a nifty new bonus is that you can keep powers up to 5 levels above that. So, for example, if you did an arc that capped at level 45, you would still have access to all the powers you have at 50, but would be fighting characters at level 45. -
Quote:You forgot recharge, one of the most sought after bonuses. There are a number of different build directions to focus on, as others said. In general, most "build directions" head for one or more of these:
- Ranged Defense
- AoE Defense
- Melee Defense
- Smash/Lethal Defense (especially for farmers)
- Endurance Recovery
- Accuracy
- Health Regeneration
- Max HP
- Max Endurance
- Damage Buff
Other components that can be picked up but are more rarely the "direction" of a build include:
- Mez Resist
- Mez Enhancers
- Run/Fly/Jump Speed
- Fire, Energy, Cold, Negative, Toxic or Psionic Defense
- Damage Resistance (I think)
Knockback Protection and Stealth are special cases. A lot of builds will incorporate one or two enhancements to achieve them but there isn't anyway to base a whole build off of it. -
Quote:Fair enough. Thanks Pum.
The easiest way to do it would be to log in the accounts side by side and while I roll I will simply click the recipe and use the give command to drop the recipe onto your toon. You in turn can just use the give command to drop the recipe onto your alt as you receive them. Trading would be a bit slower. -
My sonic/rad is one of my favorite characters. It really can do anything, but you may have to make some difficult choices.
It is no doubt one of the best debuffing toons you can make with almost every sonic attack having -res and rad's holy trinity of enervating field, lingering radiation, and radiation infection. You can stun, hold, sleep, and/or knockback should you choose to.
Another benefit of sonic/rad is that all your buffs and debuffs help you solo as well as when teamed. Of all the buff/debuff sets only trick arrow, traps, and dark can make the same claim. -
Quote:Not even a player's second account? I know it adds an extra layer of complication for you, but I respectfully request you reconsider. If a winner took all 1000 merits as random rolls (which I would suggest is the best use) that's 50 recipes. I think it would work smoothly and efficiently to have 2 accounts logged on.
6. Merit rewards will not be transferable to other accounts. I will spend merit rewards as directed by the winning toon's account only and pass the result onto that toon.
It's your show and your rules. But please think about it. -
I appreciate the effort to make the changes and your effort to keep us informed.

Can a program change it's response to an identical set of inputs? Yes, but only if you program in a random variable. Humans are constantly a random variable, and each one random in their own way. A human responds not just to the inputs, but to how those inputs make them feel, or how they were feeling when they got those inputs. Programs don't have those feelings.

We did an all-Kheldian ITF on Justice several months ago. It was very smooth until Romulus and then we just took turns tanking him in Dwarf, while another dwarf pulled the healing nictus away. I had taken the medicine pool, so I was acting as the defender on the team, casting stimulant and 2 heals where needed.
That same group tried STF, but we broke down against Ghost Widow and the other patrons. If we had all had nukes and shivans, we could have done it. But only a few of us did and then we started losing people.
I don't think I can make it Saturday, so good luck! -
To the person who added "Harrison Bergeron" as a tag:
I tip my hat to you, good sir or madam. You are well informed and "get it."
Sorry to interrupt, carry on. -
I didn't realize that Sweden had so many minorities. I expected everyone to be white and blonde.
