  1. Howdy.

At some point, I was able to fire up two instances of CoH on my current rig without an issue, without lowering graphics settings, without even having to use windowed mode.

Two full screen instances that I'd alt-tab between without more than a moment or two of FPS drag.

Yes, I was using the /maxinactivefps 5 flag.

Now, however, things will be fine for a while, then drop to 10-20FPS on the active instance, then back to normal, and so on. It's random, it's erratic, and it's buggin me.

System is Win 7 64bit with 6GB RAM and a 5870 ATI card with the 10.9 drivers.

It IS possible that I have not dualboxed since before ultra mode went live and that this is just a case of "yes, Bill, you're going to have to dumb down your settings when dualboxing, freakin deal, buddy," but I don't understand why this would be the case when I can have these huge FPS disparities (going from 55FPS to 20FPS) while within a single mission map.

No this is also not a case of "well, a bunch is happening in some particular moment of combat, then FPS goes back up."

It's a case of "I'm standing still with nothing around me and I've got 15FPS but 5 minutes ago I was at 55FPS in the middle of an aggro cap of baddies."

So, what's the latest scoop on dualboxing?

EDIT: Dropped world detail to 100% from 150%. all seems fine at the moment. hmm.

EDIT2: Ran a whole mission, exited mission, FPS plummets sitting in the AE at the portal... but once I move around a bit, things wake back up.

Oh well. Nevermind. Issue seems resolved.

  3. The music is was hooked me. The elder bro had a bootleg copy of the movie's audio on reel to reel that I listened to obsessively growing up. (Thus why I knew so much before ever seeing it.)
  4. /FA will dish out far more damage.

The damage aura does more damage: 13.76 per tick versus 12.51 per tick

FA also gets fiery embrace which adds damage to everything else.

FA also gets burn. Nothing but damage.

    DA provides vastly more mitigation.

Edit: Got my new spines/fa scrapper to level 8 today. I had sworn off FA for a very long time, but accepting it as a damage set rather than a mitigation set, and it actually BEING one since the latest changes, has allowed me to return to it.
  5. I'm curious as to who said the value for the exotics should be the same as the S/L.
  6. And we haven't seen a spike in non-S/L damage with every new enemy group?
  7. Interesting. We're getting inherent fitness because everyone apparently "needed" it enough to take it on the vast majority of characters made.

Every melee character I make has tough. I must need it, right? So your solution is that I ask for S/L dam-res to be added to every melee mitigation set, right?

Problem is that I wouldn't do so. Nor did I ever ask for fitness to be made inherent.

Now I will accept that you would prefer a better case to be made for the addition of f/c/e/n/t/p dam-res to tough than "I want it."

I want to know why it was added in PvP. As you state, changes don't occur without a reason, so what was the reason? What was the cause of the change? Is that change relevant to PvE? If so, why wasn't it changed there as well?

I'm not going to hand-wave away a change especially when I'm curious as to whether it should be more widespread.
  8. Started my spines/fire last night. He looks AWESOME.

I posted the same in another thread. I really think this is the best option.

I had to get up and cover as Frank because the girl playing him was too drunk and got sick... the very first time I ever saw it in the theater. At 16 years old. Yes, I already knew all the songs, but improv blocking was a pain.

And I hope you aren't making an argument based on an interpretation of the name of the power.
    Punch isn't a punch? Kick isn't a kick?

let's go the other way, then, A: Why doesn't tough grant some level of dam-res to the other types? Why should S/L be the only type of DR we can get from pool powers? What's the rationale behind that? Is that rationale relevant in today's game?

Damn skippy. My devil is completely natural!

    An Alien Origin

Nutshell answer: There's no need for another origin. Therefore, there won't be one.

Some aliens are natural. Some are tech. Some are magic. Pick the one that fits and make your costume and biography explain the real origin.

You sound like you run slowly at level 4.

I don't have the mac/valkyrie pack nor the dance pack. I'm glad I've purchased the others. I hope that the devs lost money on the dance pack so that they don't pull that crap again.

I don't like that only those who bought the science pack can change their height/gender.

I dig exploding. I dig ninja run.

I'm fine with booster packs. Another 10 bucks on top of the nearly $200 I spend a year on sub fees isn't a big deal to me. If it was, I wouldn't have spent it.

We have travel suppression in pve already. If you're wasting a power pick to get punch/kick in order to be "tough" you should be "tough," not just tough to knives and hammers but weak to everything else. The precedent for the change sits there in the next power, weave, which gives defense to everything.
  16. Print 'em out and make a poster!

Or open a support ticket and attach them.

But I notice the most, when I am feeling masochistic, and play my MA/SR Scrapper is during an ITF, my defense in the last mission is 100% pointless! Also Romans are good at debuffing defense, but why bother with damage resistance?
Point of order: SR gets 95% defense debuff resistance when built correctly. There's absolutely nothing in the ITF that's a substantial threat to SR except the final Romulus autohit fluffy. Edit: If you're at 45.8% or higher defense to m/r/a.
  18. Man, that looks really farkin bad. Why, Felicia, why?
  19. I consider it a serious design glitch for SR. Just as pets still having a 75% chance to hit us is a glitch. AT is irrelevant in my mind. I never understood why the scaling resists didn't work against toxic and psi in the first place. Hell, I still don't know why tough doesn't provide some level of dam-res to everything. It does in PvP, why not PvE?
  20. A, I don't believe that the complaints you expect would be as heavy as you think.

I can't make stone armor work for me due to the -speed and inability to get over small rocks in the road. Do I see the devs changing SA because of that? Nope.

I do not share your belief that a softcapped tank with capped DDR, tank level base HP and heightened scaling resists is going to under perform the other tank sets by any meaningful amount.

So my response to a player stating that they can't make it work would more than likely be, "you're doin it wrong."
  21. So it's just another case of "well, this is why we blocked flight and tport pools from kheldians" all over again.

    Ok.
  22. Arcanaville,

I understand what you're saying. I just don't see it to be as large a problem as you seem to see it. Will LR be an issue? Hell, yea, especially with the blue tower up, but isn't that also a problem for the Ice Armor user? Autohit powers like Rom's fluffy and that Shard AV's damage aura are also a problem, but isn't that also true for the Ice Armor user?

What about SR brutes? They've been "tanking" for a while now redside and are migrating blue side. Won't they be running into all the problems that you have stated SR tanks will run into?

Granted, Ice and Inv both get HP buffs. Yes, they help. But I find it difficult to accept that they are so vastly superior to a softcap + 95% DDR that we should block SR proliferation because of it.
  23. As stated, I will watch *this* episode. Love me some RHPS. When's it air? Oh. Oct 26th.
