    A pondering...

    [ QUOTE ]
So, whilst feeling the effects of a sinus infection, a thought enters my head somehow..A phrase..

    'Sins of the father...'

I ask, are the sins of the father burdened upon the son? Is the son held guilty for actions/deeds of his father from years past when the child was not even born or in his 'innocent' years?

WHat are your thoughts on this?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, if the father has a bad reputation, the son will suffer a little bit on trying to make first impressions.
Imagine meeting a guy named Bob Stalin, especially if he resembles Josef.
I saw a thing on the History channel about Adolf H's family. They allowed to family name to die out and went into hiding, despite not having a role in thier famous relative's activities.

Ever had a boss that was really bad and then met his son? Didn't like him much, at first? Made assumptions that a jerk would raise his kid to be just like him, a jerk?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
LOL LOL yeah obviously. Since every issue seems to add something to make it even easier.. Lets count.. I15.. U can add level limits with a slider... I16.. U can set it to 8 man team with less people in the mission. yeah Posi and the dev are sssoooooo against farming

    [/ QUOTE ]
Adding timers to heavily farmed missions like Dreck?
Adding an Agro cap and a cap on the number of foes affected by any particular AoE attack, including Taunt?
Removing foes (from the AE) that in thier previous forms gave overly large reward for little to no risk?
    Anti-farming.

Setting missions to spawn for higher (up to 8) sized teams while smaller (less than 8) sized teams run the missions?
Less need for fillers, fewer bridges and PL'ees. Thus, less PL'ing?
If you can solo a map set for 8, and have a way to set it for 8 while solo (without fillers and such) why add people that will significantly reduce your personal rate of drops? Charity?
I expect less farm-spam in AP and Cap after this, but we will see if that actually happens.
  4. [ QUOTE ]

example. I never deleted my fire tank when burn finally was fixed. and yes I say "fixed" because it was "broken" to begin with if you actually "read" the desciption it had back in the day. It said it would cause enemies to flee, but it never did.

anyways, my tank has surived the harshness of the user who gave up on theirs. to become a new hero over the years for those who never knew about the before. or always wondered if a fire/fire tank was good. I like to think I popularized the term "Battle Tank" but i doubt i really did.

got rid of the one trick power for actual powers and turned into a fighting machine that could tank and take out a mob before a team got the chance to really do anything. Anywho!.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I played my Fire/Fire Tank more like an AoE Scrapper. It worked quite well without taking Burn.
    [ QUOTE ]

My point I guess to this post is that.. I like many have thought of "solutions" if you will to the current problems this game faces due to all the recent changes it's gone through. And some are silly and some are serious.. so i will put them into the catagories of silly and serious ideas/ suggestions.

    Silly Ideas:
Remove levels from the game. no levels no farming. =P
Make everyone max level. at the cap? also no farming.(applies to every toon you make or already have"

    [/ QUOTE ]
I see no reason to get into details regarding ideas that even you see as Silly. Yes, they are silly.
    [ QUOTE ]

for me, nothing has generally changed, but the public hordes around it not to do actual story arcs, but to farm. that says alot for those who openly complained the game was not driven enough for them to do missions, but apparently grinding away hours to reach the max level is really inspiring.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I believe that the farmers aren't as high of a percentage as folks think. It's just that they are more visible now with the farm-spam now moved to the lower zones. And there will be an upsurge as new players starting in Atlas are being taught that this game is nothing but farming and not experiencing the other zones, so when they get thier L50's, they just continue the cycle, or quit out of boredom.
    [ QUOTE ]

farming has been in this game pretty much since it officially launched. before ae.. i had to personally deal with lvl 1's coming all the way from atlas or galaxy to peregrine and flooding my chatlog full of, looking for farm, pay for farm, plz this and plz that etc etc etc.
now peregrine is like a ghost town, and honestly I enjoy it. it seems only those high enough to be in the zone are the ones you find there now.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, it's odd to hear myself saying "I'm going to Peregrine because the farm spam in this zone is annoying me.".
    [ QUOTE ]

personally I always thought auction ruined this game. because giving the person the ability to set whatever price they want for anything. is the sole reason why stuff is is listed at 300million a recipe, and that just isn't right at all.
Noone needs that much money ever in this game on a single character. but of course, monkey see monkey do right? those who list for insane amounts, complain about stuff being to expensive when its their turn to buy the same crap.

but then you have those who love to ask you whenever they feel you are really good at whatever you are doing "how much did your build cost" im like..ugh.. because the price sooo determines your skill in the game.

tch, whatever >>;; a suggestion from me on that would be.. why not make auctions like regular npcs. and just a place to buy and sell, without play influence. thus not removing auctions as they are now. and making it set prices based on real value, not just some person wants instant cash.

so yeah.. just remove the player portion of that... have all the items there infinite like in any trainer store/npc and you will see alot more balance.. and less silly questions like the above.. and I feel a general less in farming.

I have to be honest..if you aren't lvling fast for a 50.. you are leveling fast for a 50 so you can start getting a ton of influence per kill and items to put in auction to get enough cash to buy the same stuff you probably just put up their for the insane prices you are complaining about.. its a vicious moronic circle.

honestly its what killed ffxi for me.. and i spent most of 2004 playing it after getting this game.. that game forced me to pay real cash to get ingame money because I wanted to level and experience the story attached to it, but i always needed the "best gear" to ever get a team and the moment my gear wasn't the "best" i would spend hours, literally hours broadcasting for a team only to finally get one, we kill one monster then everyone has to go.

yes i was part of that whole ffxi joke.. i lived that crap.. and after many complaints i had with that mmo i finally quit and returned here and never looked back.. but the announcement of auctions in this game brought up my worse fears. and in this users opionion.. it's come true.

    [/ QUOTE ]
CoH is different. You don't have to have the "best gear" to be fully functional. IO's are completely optional.

As for the auctions...I think you have it wrong. It's Supply vs. Demand.
Sure, there's 300 million sales prices for a few rare items, but they are the exception, not the rule.
You can get full, decent sets for way less than that.
If you don't like the price on something, bid lower and wait. If you want to pay the "have it now" price then it's your own fault and the price of convienience.
Or you can just buy lower-priced sets. I've never paid prices like those and I'm quite happy with my characters.

And I've never heard "How much did your build cost?" as a prerequisite for teaming, only out of curiosity when someone has a large stack of set bonuses.
I have heard some people quible about wanting some powersets over others (like Empathy, Kinetics and Stone Armor), but not pickiness over build cost or IO's. SO-equiped characters perform just fine.
  5. SS/WP is very good, and fairly popular. I've enjoyed it.
Your AoE is mostly in Footstomp, which you have to wait a while for.
You should be asking further Brute-related questions in the Brute section, as you will get more specificly Brute-related answers.

Now, as for /Invuln redside, it seems that Psi damage is more common over there, so if I was going to play an Invuln character, I'd go with Scrapper or Tank. I.E. blueside.
  6. You can already enter the Sewers (and thus the Abandoned Sewers as well) from multiple zones, not just Atlas.
  7. As opposed to purchasing them indirectly from cashing those Merits/Tickets in for goods that can be traded on the Market to get the Respec Recipes?

Okay, I'm interested. How many AE tickets would a Respec Recipe be worth?
Considering the market value of Salvage and the average recipe rewards vs. the market value of a Respec Recipe would be a possible guide.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Hows about yes. that zone SUCKS. Its BORING. Its GRAY. It SUCKS THE FUN OUT of the game.

[/ QUOTE ]I greatly prefer it over The Hollows.
The change I would have made would be to put the lower-level spawns in the zone actually be placed by the GC-KR gate, and the higher-level spawns near the other gate. Having the highest level spawns in the zone being right at the gate to GC just throws off the flow a bit for me.
It's a good zone for lowbie street-sweeping, radio missions and regular contacts, although being sent from there to AP->Hollows and back for the "Talk to Wincott" is annoying.
For lowbies wanting to make a little scratch vendoring trash, the WW there is closer to a NPC store than the one in AP.

For things to add to KR, I'd prefer the "Jack the Ripper" or "Ultra-lowbie Icon" ideas I've heard before, rather than your Flaming Meteors idea.
  9. Okay. Accolade Name: Soloist
Effect: Allows you to start any TF without the required number of players.
Badge Text: I earn my own dang XP, TYVM!

    But how to acquire?
I would say earn (or re-run via Ouroboros if you've already earned them on a team) say 50-75% of the mission badges (Spelunker, etc.) solo.
Or earn 90% of the XP needed to get to L50, without being on a team.
  10. Could someone refresh my memory as to why we needed -Acc in Group Fly?

I was hoping to use it on my Bots MM, as it would look cool to sweep in, raining pewpewpew lasery death down upon my foes.....so long as they hit.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Better yet. I actually giggled when I read this part.

Enhanced Difficulty Options - Players can now fine-tune their difficulty levels by telling the game exactly how they want to be treated. They can choose to be regarded as a specific size team (even if they are soloing), and even have control over the level they are detected to be when it comes to the dynamic spawn system. So if you ever wanted to see if your Scrapper could take on a map that is populated for an 8 person team, four levels higher than your own, now you can! The difficulty settings of the mission owner dictate how the mission is handled, just as before, and you can change your difficulty settings at any Hero Corp.'s Representative in Paragon City or Fateweaver in the Rogue Isles.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Farmer's Paradise? No more calls for fillers?

I saw the part about Scrappers and Tanks getting a hold of my beloved Elec/Elec.

    Does AE need XP?

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    Here's my compromise:

All AE arcs, once published get treated as "Probationary Arcs" and critters defeated within give 50% of normal reward. To get the arc upgraded to full reward either get X number (5? 30?...Whatever) of ratings (might be difficult if it rewards only 50% of normal, as fewer people might want to play it) or hit a "Submitted for Review" flag to get a GM to eventually see it, review for whether it's a blatantly unbalanced XP-Fest or not and turn on the full rewards earlier.
Unpublishing/Republishing would still reset to zero ratings and reset to Probationary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the only missions ever played would be the older ones out of this probationary period (or arcs from people with a lot of game friends.) There'd be no motivation for newer players to make arcs that will hardly/never get played. It'd be the voting cartels but much worse.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not true. See the bolded part.

They just didn't get immediately bombarded with farm-spam upon logging in from initial character creation on day one, and having a L50 by the end of the day, without ever leaving Atlas.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The solution to this is to start in Galaxy City.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I always start in Galaxy City, except when I start in Mercy, and therefore don't have the choice to start in GC.
But this ain't my first trip 'round the fishin' hole, partner.
  14. BBQ_Pork

    AE Suggestions.

    [ QUOTE ]
There are players that only want to play in AE. That is fine for them.

There are new players that may not grasp that there is more to the game beyond AE and something needs to be done to show them that the rest of the game exists.

That is why other "real game" contacts should pop up at level appropriate times like Level 5: Detective/Broker, Level 10: College Tutorial, Level 20: Icon/Facemaker and so on. This may generate interest amongst new players to go see what these other contacts want in these other, 'new', zones to these new players.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Absolutely.
  15. Don't a few of the villian contacts introduce you straight to other contacts?
I could have sworn that Mr. Bocor introduces you to The Radio.

Oh well, I'll do newspapers to do contacts if it'll save me the hassle of those multi-zone-for no-reason hero arcs.
  16. You could also remove the building's roof and windows and plop it into Siren's Call, Warburg or RV. Tada!! Instant cross-faction access to the AE, other than the RWZ.

Unpublishing/Republishing would still reset to zero ratings and reset to Probationary.

Some farms would still exist as is, until eventually caught and banned.
Some farms might get X number of ratings and swing into full rewards, but spamming "Rate my Farm so it can get full rewards!" might draw attention to those who would report it, so I'm not sure whether that spam would happen.
Some farms might still reward better at half rate than normal arcs reward at full rate.
It might not be feasible, due to the workload on the GMs.

Hopefully, whatever AE farms persist, will be done discretely, at least.
Could farmers head back to Grandville and P.I. and resume farming there? Sure, most of them are going to go where the best reward/time ratio is.

And the AE would still be a valid method of leveling from L1-50, just not in one day.

way too many people have no idea how to play their AT.

Provide links to the datamining where you are basing your opinions on. I know 120,000+ players that know how to play the game.

    Here's one.
Of course, the sample size is too small to provide an accurate overall picture.

You had the same kind of thing before AE was even thought of. Some people just don't read the manual or ask others for help.

    AE Suggestions.

    [ QUOTE ]

The AE was advertised as an alternate leveling means from level 1+. As such, it will never be moved to a restricted zone of any level.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Also, that would mean that XP would never be removed completely from published AE missions, should that suggestion come up.

How about Defeat All using Psychic Clockwork on Siege's Factory map, with a single glowy (that doesn't end the mission, just gives a clue).
    Awful mission?

That one is already ingame, from Unai Kemen.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And it has patrols, which is very important for maximum annoyance.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Geez. I didn't notice the patrols, I just thought that I had missed a few on my first few runs around the map.
And by around, I mean around, spiraling upwards, jumping down to get ones that fall, running back up to spiral up some more, then jump out and down, go around once, then drop down again and go around a bit more.

    Mounts?

    [ QUOTE ]
But I think it would be awesome if you could actually get mounts like a flying giant bird or a kick a** motorcycle (possibly flaming XD).

Here's the most Flaming Motorcycle I could find.

    My solution: email IOs.

Every use of the spam button gives a 1 in 1000 chance of getting an email IO drop.
