I have a thought... Maybe i should let it go =P

but of course if i did then I wouldn't be here posting it now.
ANYWAYS!
ahem..

I've been playing off and on since 2004 and like anyone who started back then I've seen pretty much all the changes this game has gone through and what it has become. Unlike most of the friends I've made throughout the years that often wish for days of old. I myself have adapted to all the changes that have been thrown my way.

example. I never deleted my fire tank when burn finally was fixed. and yes I say "fixed" because it was "broken" to begin with if you actually "read" the desciption it had back in the day. It said it would cause enemies to flee, but it never did.

anyways, my tank has surived the harshness of the user who gave up on theirs. to become a new hero over the years for those who never knew about the before. or always wondered if a fire/fire tank was good. I like to think I popularized the term "Battle Tank" but i doubt i really did.

got rid of the one trick power for actual powers and turned into a fighting machine that could tank and take out a mob before a team got the chance to really do anything. Anywho!.
My point I guess to this post is that.. I like many have thought of "solutions" if you will to the current problems this game faces due to all the recent changes it's gone through. And some are silly and some are serious.. so i will put them into the catagories of silly and serious ideas/ suggestions.

Silly Ideas:
Remove levels from the game. no levels no farming. =P
Make everyone max level. at the cap? also no farming.(applies to every toon you make or already have"

Serious Ideas:
none.

well Instead of listing serious ideas/thoughts/solutions like i did for silly ones. I'll just go into actual detail as to what I was thinking.
First off.. I guess i'll address the whole "Ae" thing. I personally feel it's a great tool that's been misused by the public. AE isn't ruining the game the public is. said public keep's finding ways to "farm" to fast exp. of course as positron mentioned before on his thread. the devs knew their would be some abuse with such a tool. but the potential outweighed the downsides.

I firmly believe that. specially for all the years I've played this game only to read peoples opionions on why alot of them farmed before ae gave them a easy way to do it" a majority of the complaints was simply the game's story for whatever mission you were doing. wasn't interesting enough to make them play it.

they rather just get their levels and be done with it than to sit and read alot of the stuff they felt was boring and uninspired. after years of this. a tool comes along for those people who can finally make something they felt was good. and you end up with a ton of farm missions. it's truely sad. but I myself felt alot of the story arcs in the game were really good.

at least enough for one playthrough on any character anyways. you can tell that the story team who makes this stuff, puts alot of effort into it, but its easy as heck for someone to instantly say "this sucks" and by saying that and never giving an actual detailed reason why.. can easily sway those around them that may not have experienced it or have and thought to themselves that it was lacking in some way.

anyways.. I think a way to resolve this isn't to remove ae like every post i've seen suggests. I personally have experienced a lack of teams before ae was thought of and after ae was put in.
for me, nothing has generally changed, but the public hordes around it not to do actual story arcs, but to farm. that says alot for those who openly complained the game was not driven enough for them to do missions, but apparently grinding away hours to reach the max level is really inspiring.

farming has been in this game pretty much since it officially launched. before ae.. i had to personally deal with lvl 1's coming all the way from atlas or galaxy to peregrine and flooding my chatlog full of, looking for farm, pay for farm, plz this and plz that etc etc etc.
now peregrine is like a ghost town, and honestly I enjoy it. it seems only those high enough to be in the zone are the ones you find there now.

i guess for ae.. why not make catagories.. as much as i dislike my own idea. to put actual arcs on one side of the search if you will and farms on the other. and a counter system for this, we can honestly see then which is getting more play.

personally I always thought auction ruined this game. because giving the person the ability to set whatever price they want for anything. is the sole reason why stuff is is listed at 300million a recipe, and that just isn't right at all.
Noone needs that much money ever in this game on a single character. but of course, monkey see monkey do right? those who list for insane amounts, complain about stuff being to expensive when its their turn to buy the same crap.

but then you have those who love to ask you whenever they feel you are really good at whatever you are doing "how much did your build cost" im like..ugh.. because the price sooo determines your skill in the game.

tch, whatever >>;; a suggestion from me on that would be.. why not make auctions like regular npcs. and just a place to buy and sell, without play influence. thus not removing auctions as they are now. and making it set prices based on real value, not just some person wants instant cash.

so yeah.. just remove the player portion of that... have all the items there infinite like in any trainer store/npc and you will see alot more balance.. and less silly questions like the above.. and I feel a general less in farming.

I have to be honest..if you aren't lvling fast for a 50.. you are leveling fast for a 50 so you can start getting a ton of influence per kill and items to put in auction to get enough cash to buy the same stuff you probably just put up their for the insane prices you are complaining about.. its a vicious moronic circle.

honestly its what killed ffxi for me.. and i spent most of 2004 playing it after getting this game.. that game forced me to pay real cash to get ingame money because I wanted to level and experience the story attached to it, but i always needed the "best gear" to ever get a team and the moment my gear wasn't the "best" i would spend hours, literally hours broadcasting for a team only to finally get one, we kill one monster then everyone has to go.

yes i was part of that whole ffxi joke.. i lived that crap.. and after many complaints i had with that mmo i finally quit and returned here and never looked back.. but the announcement of auctions in this game brought up my worse fears. and in this users opionion.. it's come true.

I played my Fire/Fire Tank more like an AoE Scrapper. It worked quite well without taking Burn.

I see no reason to get into details regarding ideas that even you see as Silly. Yes, they are silly.

I believe that the farmers aren't as high of a percentage as folks think. It's just that they are more visible now with the farm-spam now moved to the lower zones. And there will be an upsurge as new players starting in Atlas are being taught that this game is nothing but farming and not experiencing the other zones, so when they get thier L50's, they just continue the cycle, or quit out of boredom.

Yeah, it's odd to hear myself saying "I'm going to Peregrine because the farm spam in this zone is annoying me.".

CoH is different. You don't have to have the "best gear" to be fully functional. IO's are completely optional.

As for the auctions...I think you have it wrong. It's Supply vs. Demand.
Sure, there's 300 million sales prices for a few rare items, but they are the exception, not the rule.
You can get full, decent sets for way less than that.
If you don't like the price on something, bid lower and wait. If you want to pay the "have it now" price then it's your own fault and the price of convienience.
Or you can just buy lower-priced sets. I've never paid prices like those and I'm quite happy with my characters.

And I've never heard "How much did your build cost?" as a prerequisite for teaming, only out of curiosity when someone has a large stack of set bonuses.
I have heard some people quible about wanting some powersets over others (like Empathy, Kinetics and Stone Armor), but not pickiness over build cost or IO's. SO-equiped characters perform just fine.
