Quote:Heh. I love it.I had a mission the other day that had as its main goal finding out where the villain of the arc was hiding out. It was a standard office crawl in one of those big buildings on Talos Island, clicking glowy whiteboards and such. Then I went outside, phoned my contact, he said "Great, you found him, now go take him down," and directed me... the door I'd just emerged from.
I can only assume that this was my character having one of those moments where you walk from the living room to the kitchen and then think, "Now what in the hell did I come in here for again?"
I once did a newspaper mission to steal $Itemname from $CoTmage. I did it, walked outside, opened the newspaper and saw that $CoTmage was talking trash about me, so I decided to pound him for it.
And the door was the one I'd just came from.
And when I got to the end of the map, he acted surprised to see me.
Geez, start talking trash while the target of your ire has barely cleared the exit? Yeah, he's gonna kick your behind again. -
Quote:G for "Go"?NOOOOOO!!!!!
I use G.
Tab, F, G, Attack, G, Attack til dead, Tab, F, G, Attack, G, Attack til dead.
I'm not against lowering the end cost, but I see no reason to do so.
I use R for "Run", and move the auto-run to Alt+R instead. (It's safer there.) -
If you can get the costume to look right, the rest would be easy.
I'm thinking that we need a Hockey Stick for a weapon skin for the War Mace set. -
I've enjoyed the Crab, Widow and Fortunata paths so far and agree that the VEAT's are enjoyable.
Speaking of finding ways to play redside without going "Evil for the sake of being Evil", I went with: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...chClockVillain for the Crab and had fun with it.
For my SS/WP Brute "Terrible Two", I went with something like: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...pathicManchild , only more genuinely attempting to be nice.
And avoided certain Arcs as well. -
Be careful, Westley.
A fair number of people who do excessive Dinging in the Isles end up with Crabs. True story. -
Yep, all those doors are potential mission doors.
And not everyone is ToT'ing all the time.
Glad you weren't griefed.
When I ToT, I keep a wide berth between myself and anyone else if possible, sometimes shifting territories if need be. -

Quote:I agree. My question is, why is it so hard to just delete and remake him?
If it's because of badges I personally say I fully support the anniversary badges being made account wide rather than by the character. All other holiday badges you can just get as the holidays come back around.
.
If it's because you're afraid to lose the name that you have, I would also fully support a 24 hour protection for a name. Basically if you delete a character you can still remake it with that name for a full 24 hours before it goes on the open market for anyone to use. (assuming this feature doesn't already exist)
.
If its because of a costume we can already save costumes at the tailor so thats no problem.
.
and lastly if its because of level.. I'm sorry but that one you and everyone will just have to deal with and reroll. You can always just buy and use a rename token (we could use a 24 hour protection on renamed characters too) and change the concept of the character you already have then remake the toon you want with the powers you want.
There are a number of badges, such as the Anniversary badges, that I really believe should be account based. Heck, I've gotten AE badges on some characters who have never set foot in the place.
(And there are a few more badges that probably would never become account-wide, but I would really like them to be, particularly some of the weapon-skin unlocks based on high-level or grindy foes)
The name thing? I don't think there is a name-protection thing in place. If you delete a character, remake him immediately to reduce the risk that someone else will snag it. I think if the name was borderline petitionable (not completely against the EULA, but close) it may not be available once deleted, under some kind of "We'll let him get away with this one for now, but won't let anyone else." thing. I could be wrong. -
Quote:I must politely disagree with your negative assessment of the Development team. They have implemented some of the ideas that players have come up with, so they don't squash things out of spite. It sounds too good to be true, too smart. Too well thought out....the devs will squash it out of spite because they didn't think of it first. My personal opinion. Great idea! But I find what I think is great differs widely from what devs consider great.
Now there have been some ideas that I thought were pretty good that haven't yet gotten off the ground, but I doubt that spite is the reason. -
Quote:Of course I would like for ANY expense in my life to decrease!Ahhh after all the posts i racked on my last topic i thought " why deviate".
What if when they release Going Rogue they release a new low price to help bring in more people ( this time i am in no way implying we need them.) like say 10$ a month.
I just have two little questions.
1) What would you think they would cut in expenditures in order to maintain profitability (If they are posting losses, there's no reason to continue) in the wake of losing a third of thier per-customer income, or do you think that they would get at least 50% more customers?
2) Do you think that the lowered cost would be enough of an incentive to gain that many new customers, despite the fact that to many people it would signal "Hey, this game must be failing, they are taking to a desperation manuever"? -
Quote:I've used the MA for Magic Robes (Robe#5, I think, was a good one) and for a tunic for a Buck Rogers style Tech MM. But more costume options are a good thing.Robes feel kind of.. Bland.. I think the robes could be improved upon. Why are there only Martial Arts Robes? Why not Magic Robes? I think it'd be pretty neat to have Magic Robes added to costumes.
Quote:Scabbards - I don't know, it bothers me that characters seemingly pull weapons from their rectums. When I see a scrapper who has nothing on their person suddenly reach backwards and produce a sword from no where, I wince.. And I think to myself how much better it'd be if there were just sheathable weapons. I'd like to see scabbards as an extra costume option ( solely for weapon classes ) - You could have scabbards for Katana's which would go on the side or back, claymores and the like on the back, warmaces and whatnot hanging from a leather strap on the side and I think that'd be a much more realistic and cool option than just having them.. Produced.. From.. Places unknown.. And probably places best left unsaid.. ( NOTE: I'd also like to see holsters for guns. Assault rifles on the back, pistols on the sides and so on and so-fourth. Archery would have a bow and arrow on their back with a quiver and all. )
One sticking point may be the number of attachment points on the skeleton and I'm pretty sure that clipping would be a problem. Look at the GvE jumppack. It's one thing on a small-medium character, but on a size Huge, it's buried partially into thier back. Ouch!
The term "Hammer Space" describes where the weapons come from. Think of Bugs Bunny just reaching back and having a giant mallet to wallop someone with. Or Transformers cartoons where Optimus Prime's trailer would just appear out of nowhere when he turned back into a truck.
Quote:
Extra Power Options - I want to see extra power options. I would love to see a Blaster given the option of a new addition - Such as perhaps when you choose a Blaster you're given the option of having a Power Ring ( Magical, Technology or whatever ) - Your ring would be the source of your power and your blasts.. I think that'd be pretty neat.. I also question why for instance, Scrapper ( Or at least one melee Archetype ) doesn't have a bo-staff. Staffs are great weapons, so why not? - Alternatively, wouldn't it be awesome to have a magical staff for your magical blaster? That way you'd actually be able to look like a spell-caster assuming you wanted to go the classical magic-way? Or maybe even a book being the option for what you held. I think these choices could be added to freshen up the powers a lot.
Staff-fighting for a melee set? Been suggested, and I have no further comment other than the ones in those threads.
Held Item (Staff, Book, Scroll, etc.) for ranged attack sets?
A few thoughts:
A) I'm assuming that the attack would have to come from the hand *not* holding the book, otherwise, I think it would look silly. So sets with attacks that use two hands (Flares from Fire Blast?)....not so much.
B) I think this would work better with Controller sets than with a Blaster set, as Mages in fantasy usually seem to have more tricks up thier sleeve than straight damage. Edit: Some of the Blaster sets have some controll-ish elements as secondary effects, such as Ice Blast's Slow and Holdeffects.
C) I think that this would be best done with a whole new powerset, rather than re-do an old one. (see reasons A&B)
D) The argument will come up that you shouldn't have a set primarily geared towards just the Magic origin. (Nevermind the Assault Rifle, Devices, Trap and Robots powersets) My solution? Have one (or more) of the possible focus objects choosable as weapon skins be an alien gadget or other tech-looking device. (edit: or a Crystal. It could be an alien crystal or a magic crystal or an irradiated crystal....it's all in the player's imagination.)
Some of your ideas would be best served in thier own, seperate thread, where the details could be hashed out. -
Quote:I never realized that the act of "being Canadian at people" was an offensive manuever.Yeh. Canada is pretty much just a blank white area somewhere vaguely North in the City of * world. Be nice if we could get some canon word as to what's happening in our Paragonian counterpart.
(and my main also has a patriotic costume for when I feel like being Canadian at people).
Quote:(apart from canada joe who isn't really super at all =[ )
I'll have to look in the AE and see if anyone has written him an arc yet. -
Quote:Add Rest onto that list of bare essentials that were fixed. It used to have at least double the recharge time.Brawl and the inherent mini-attack got fixed. Time for the last piece of the bare essentials, maybe?
My characters used to have a full set of stuff bound to keys by L10 because I had a lot of time on my hands waiting for End (and to a lesser extent HP) to recover between fights when Rest wasn't recharged.
And they would have the chatbox completely reorganized.
Now I can't stand the default. -
Quote:There's a limit to how many people a player can gignore, but no limit to how many people can gignore a player. Those are the actions players take when they encounter people with the OP's insulting attitude. I've even been on a couple pugs and seen someone get kicked when he/she showed up and someone told the leader that they had that player 1 starred for some reason.
Eventually, "OMG, the server is dead! Must merge servers to get people to play with ME! Meeeeee!!". -

Wokka Wokka!

It would get thier attention, would it not?
-
Absolutely.
Background Selector: Hero, Villain, Plain. (black&white, no pictures)
Handy for those posting from work to look like they are just glancing over a plain text document.
(Maybe we can implement this before Going Rogue comes out?) -
-
Well, you've heard the expression "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"?
On the internet, it's a little different.
The OP makes a suggestion that has a number of flaws, and perhaps is based on a false assumption.
Responders point out the flaws.
OP gets unhappy and hurls insults (or something that looks like it was intended to be. The counting to 100 thing is meaningless gibberish.), refusing to see the errors in his theory.
Responders try to show the OP what he refuses to see. "You can lead a horse to water...."
I think that online, "You can catch more flies with manure, than with honey or vinegar." -
Quote:Geez. Upon seeing that phrase "Critical Failure", I just had flashbacks to certain pen-n-paper games and of DM's who used tables that didn't always make sense. My only thought to that Bill is that this Dev team seem very strict on risk/reward.
Want a TF challange to get more merits ? The only way the Devs have said they will implement that is if failing said challange nets you less.
I don't see 'critical success' in crafting ever being implemented without 'critical failure' of some sort.
Players tend to hate critical failures. Heck, they aren't too keen on regular failures. Remember the "OMG ACC wus nerfed!" cries that used to pop up much more often? (Usually when someone hit L50 and switched to a new alt that wasn't slotted out with 1-2 SO's worth of Acc in every power. Or they popped a yellow in a mission and didn't get an automatic hit on thier snipe, or against a debuffing foe. But I digress.)
But if you want to do both a Critical Success and a Critical Failure in crafting tables, then perhaps I have an idea.
The Farnsworth Advanced Crafting Table. (just grabbing a name out of nowhere)
This special crafting table allows a skilled user to have a chance to craft a special enhancement when crafting Generic IO's.
When using this table, you will have a X% chance to craft a generic recipe into a special enhancement.
Unfortunately, the table is a bit finicky and will sometimes ruin a recipe and the salvage used into it.
X% chance to eat the recipe, salvage and $Inf used in the crafting.
Feel lucky?
Would you use it? -

Quote:Re: Difficulty finding teams:My simple solution, if possible, is to combine some servers.
Highest average online + lowest
2nd high + 2nd low
3rd high + 3rd low
4th high + 4th low
5th high + 5th low
Of course I would settle for combining down to seven servers for now and see if things maybe pick up when its easier to get teams. Because from 10 to 5 is a big leap but something must be done.
*Have you tried joining a Global channel or two? (Just curious)
*Are you flagged as LFT or just spamming Broadcast in the zone you're currently in? (No offense intended, but some folks just don't fully utilize the LFt function.)
Anyway, a part of the resistance against merging servers will be:
*Folks don't want to lose thier character names, or get some stupid-looking number added to the end of it.
*Some folks want to be on a low-pop server. Remember, some folks love NYC, some folks like Billings, MT.
*Some folks like bustling zones, others like lag-free performance.
Other reasons are likely to come up as well, but in short?
I must politely disagree with your proposal for the reasons listed above. -

Welcome to Virtue.
Swing by the zone "Pocket D" (accesible via King's Row (just downhill from the trainer) and a few other zones) to hang out with other heroes (and villians) during thier "Off-duty" hours in a non-combat area.
