"Is infamous around these parts"? *chuckle*
-
I think that energy-type blast fired from an item is doable as an entirely new set.
I'd set it as fired from a ray-gun pistol and have multiple pistol weapons as options. Firing point a few inches above and in front of the clenched right hand. ("But I'm left handed!" Tough.)
Have one option be a wand held forward at a 45 degree angle, interesecting the tip of the wand with approximately the start point of the blast.
Have another option be a staff, held at the same angle, but held at about a third of the way from the top or at the middle. -
I like to check out other folks' bios.
But I was on Justice, where they are a bit rare.
This was during the Xmas event.
A L27-ish Scrapper had the first anniversary badge, no Xmas event badges and zero vet rewards. He was AFK in the Talos Tech store, so I figured that he wouldn't respond to a tell.
Never saw that combo before.
Odd.
Just paid his account for a month in mid 2005, then shows up for free weekends? -
Quote:I take this to mean that a weapon-using blast set like Assualt Rifle will not have both a two-handed weapon (a rifle, shotgun, grenade luancher or the like) and a one handed option, such as a pistol (or even dual pistols). To expand on this, the weapons you see on various characters for various power-sets are just costume options that have nothing to do with the animations for the power-sets they are related to. Take Spines, for example. You can change the look of the spines that are attached to the character, but you can't change what the thrown spines look like. Same goes for the Archery set and its arrows. The animations for those sets have a set emission point that all of the weapon costume parts correspond to. The Weaponless power-sets, like the Blaster's Energy Assault, also has a set emission point that would remain the same regardless of what costume part was attached to the hands.
Likewise, a wand-using set will have a blast that originates a few inches above the hand, so if a wand is in the hand, it will look like it fires from the wand, even though it is firing from the wand. Therefore, to use a staff or a larger-than-wand item, you will have to hold the staff in the middle (or near the end) in order to make the blast look like it comes from the end of the staff.
In the case of a large sword, it will have to be held in the middle (dumb!) to fire a magic blast from the tip. Or it will have to be held normally, with the blast coming from the middle of the blade. -
Sounds good.
Which badges to activate the Accolade?

Exploration: "Locked and Loaded" (Nerva)
(New Badge) Defeats: "Gunslinger" (Defeat 100 Malta Gunslingers) -
I'm actually surprised that this many people would find it that useful.
*shrug*
I'll go along with it, since I don't really see much of a downside. -
Quote:Something Lovecraftian?Somehow... someway... some extradimensional alien quasi-inteliigence forces me to click on Power's threads.
He has that effect.
I'll give him credit, though. His grammar and spelling have improved greatly since he started.
Edit for da credit: He has good intentions. -
Quote:I'd stay away from alternate spellings, since the original is pretty good.Suggestions I'd like to see:
-Potential alternate spellings or similar but different names ("Sevin Thrise"?)
-Gender/body type
-Background/origin
-Personality
-Costume
-Hero or Villain?
-AT/Build (no epic AT's, sadly)
Option 1: DB/Nin Stalker
-body type other than huge.
-background: originally an enforcer for the Tsoo, he got involved heavily with thier illegal gambling operations.
-costume: white tights with black spade possible red trim. (alt costume: White with red diamond, black trim.)
Personality: slight obsessions with playing cards and his use of phrases related to "cut the cards", "Death of 21 cuts" and "The House always wins in the end".
Option 2: AR/Dev Blaster or AR/Traps Corruptor.
Male with any of the following costumes: military, street clothes, whatever.
Background: having lost so many of his friends in combat, he finally lost it when he had to be in the squad firing the 21-gun salute for his own brother. He quit the service and struck out on his own, refusing to be in a situation where he would fight on a team, and have to watch them die.
Edit: The name seems to just scream "Someone with an obsession" to me, so Natural origin, weapon-user. Blackjack and 21-gun salute were the two things that came to mind from the number 21. Legal drinking age doesn't make a decent character concept.
Although.......a multiple personality disorder, where all three personalities are seven years old? Probably not. -
Quote:"Ray-gun or Sci-fi Blast set" suggestions are going to be your best bet if your looking for existing threads on this.the classic example is Energy blast going to a gun I believe for a Sci-fi shooter concept, or from a wand/sword for a more magical concept.
I could see a Blast set using a one-handed device as the start point of the blast, with weapon options of various sci-fi pistols or a wand-like item.
Make the blast color-customizable and you're set.
Well, other than writing up nine powers that place in in rough balance with existing sets and yet give it it's own unique niche. -
Quote:It would certainly be more stealthy than the occasionally requested "Chainsaw Melee 4 Stalkrs plz!".....the last neg being "...cos that's stealthy."
...well, frankly, it is. It's that kinda stealthy, abrupt trauma that gave us 80s Slasher-core and has given more guts to heroine-driven vengeance flicks (Did I mention legions of Juggalos?).
Trust me, trinkets like kitchen knives and sickles can get the adrenaline going too... but nothing says, "BOO!" to a group of frightened kiddies like being splattered in the face with the blood (and possibly, innards) of one of their playmates; courtesy of an impromptu thunking of some form of [over-sized] hatchetry.
Heck, a BA Stalker would go back into hide solely because the rest of the vics would be running too fast to keep track of where he got off to:
"*huff, puff* We lose him?"
"I think so, *breathe*, I don't se-" THWACK!!
Stealth isn't all about Metal Gear pansying or Siphon Filter egg-shelling (or even getting a booty-call on your office phone so your wife doesn't find out creeping); sometimes it's just about catching a bunch of horny teens with their pants down. -

Quote:Briefly, there was a redname registered on the forums as "BodyInBasement". (Name has been changed)4) Bloody headless glowie models will be introduced to the game(?)
My conspiracy theory cooked up from nowhere is as follows:
Redside currently takes missions from Radio, Slot Machine, Television and (Tarantula-bot) #204. All inanimate objects.
GR to have a corpse as a contact! -
I don't have anything against this idea, but I don't see much of a need for it, either.
So, with that in mind, it sounds like a good idea for a vet reward. Like the "Reveal" power, it would be occasionally usefull, but far from essential.
I'll vote "Yes". -
Would this be stock clips (like the zone music) or someone else's licensed work (like Top 40's songs downloaded from iTunes)?

Quote:I see my exact rep number by clicking on one of my posts, then notice it has changed. This speaks volumes about players who are complaining about rep comments. In order for you to see these, you literally have to click the rep icon in every post you made. Just think about that for a minute.
Curiosity drives me to find out why. -
Quote:You have to click on the "add Rep" button of each and every recent post you've made until you find the one with the comment.I keep seeing people saying that rep comments still exist and we can see them. I know they do, but where can I see them? The option to view them has been completely removed from our User CP, at least to the best of my knowledge. Wasn't it?
This way, both good and bad comments are still there, but good ones are rarely seen, and bad ones go both unread and unreported. I'm not a fan of this recent method. -

I like it. Take <number> of vendor-trash recipes, toss them into the bucket and see what comes up.

Opt-in, Opt-out?
I already know about these, and would not like more pop-ups.
I would prefer that this be optional. -

Quote:Snarky ones are perhaps borderline griefing. Nonsensical ones are more graffiti: a clutter and an ugly waste of space.
There should be a tag cloud editor, but I'd treat snarky or nonsensical thread tags as griefing.
Hmm..
Perhaps:
1) Keep the Rep system and comments, but allow them to STAY collapsed in the User CP so that folks can opt out of seeing them.
(As stated before, I would like to participate in it, but would like those who hate it to be able to opt out, yay for options)
2) Have them automatically signed by the user, rendering them into a form of PMs that are quicker to send and come with a +/- of skittles attached. Yumm, piggy likes candy!
Starring threads: keep it until it gets abused, adjust as needed later. Looks like most folks don't know it exists currently.
Tags? Meh. If tagging gets to be a problem, folks can report them to mods. Click on post and report "Tags on this thread are <description>, particularly <specific one>." I've not much opinion on this one, I just wanted to mention it in the thread as it seemed related to the topic: How we forumites relate to each other and respond to each other's discussions. -
I support this idea and find that it would be an improvement with little to no detriment.
*Stamp* "Pork Approved"! -
Quote:Post count is nothing but a measure of how chatty someone is. A six-paragraph in-depth discussion being wieghted eqaully to a "no u!" post. The following forum mechanisms should be removed to promote community:
- Reputation.
- Thread Stars.
- Post count.
Usually, the only devisiveness it brings is when someone cannot back up an argument, they say, "Well, you are just being mean to me 'cus my post count is lower than yours! Everyone with a high count is a jerk, an an elitist cus they don't like my idea for <whatever>!". I wouldn't care if it were listed or not.
Thread stars? Almost never used.
But if you're going to get rid of these, then what about snarky or nonsensical thread tags? They're used far more than the two I just mentioned. -
