That's what I thought. If I still played my namesake, I might look at doing something with his curly (closest thing was demon) tail. Couldn't hurt to go back to Icon and tinker.

Quote:Also: Typing enchantments, rather than enhancements will make it harder to get correct info out of the search function, both in this forum and at the wiki.Just a note: It's "enhancements", not "enchantments" - there are people in-game (not so many on the forums) who will make fun of someone for calling them something from a fantasy game, so I'm just giving a head's up.
Otherwise, not a big deal. -
Quote:Being able to throw someone over your shoulder would be awesome. Seen it done with one NPC who was carrying a bodybag and you had to escort said NPC to the door. Redside mission.#11 The ability to actually kidnap your victims in villain missions. Clearing the map and forcing the hostage to the entrance, while he/she struggles and screams for help.
Having them just follow you around has always seemed kinda lame
Being able to carry NPC hostages like that would be cool. As would being able to carry/drag defeated teammates. -
Oh, the duckwalk (glitch) is back? It comes and goes since '04.

Quote:What would you do with your existing powers while this toggle was on? Grey them out? Expect much vertical travel with it? Would be worse than Superspeed.3. Motorcycle Powerset. I mean, along the lines of natural heroes, there aren't many options for your third powerset that you can take logically. A motorcycle powerset would allow a travel set for natural heroes and it would just be cool. For attacks you can have things like grenade launchers or miniguns hidden on the thing. o.o It would be AWESOME!
Natural heroes can justify any current travel power. Remember, Origin is the source of Most, not All of your powers. Manticore is Natural-Origin and uses Teleport. Justification: Hacks into Medical transportation grid.
They can also use Sprint+Swift+Hurdle. That isn't good enough for you? Then take Electric Armor or Super Reflexes as they both have a passive power for additional Run Speed (Bonus: they also grant +Recharge. Slot 1RunSpeed and enjoy!)
Tangent: Ninja Run is also an option, but with your mention of debt, buying virtual goodies may not be the best allocation of resources.
Getting your subscription paid for shouldn't be huge. 15$/month is three less fast food meals in a month or a grocery cart of empty beer cans, assuming you live in a state with a nickle deposit. Compare 15$ for a month of game time vs. the cost of a theatre movie, which is 90-120 minutes at most. Consider donating plasma? Get some scratch and save a life! Maybe work a few hours at minimum wage. -
I could see adding a few flying patrols.
Sky Raiders, Longbow and CoT, sure.
Goldbrickers, not so much.
And not just in open zones, but depending on the mission, you could put them on some of the more open instanced maps as well. -
Quote:I like my (former) SG Leader (he jumped ship to a game that sucks), but as his RL friend, I know that his taste in music is far from mine. I really do not like the 1950s-70s era of Country music, nor am I a big fan of country in general. (I'm tolerant of a somewhat narrow portion of it, but I digress)<snip>......
nah.. just kidding... this is my REAL idea :
Supergroup Theme Music .. the SG leader can upload an mp3 of their own creation to be their theme music, to be downloaded by sg members for thier own excitement while playing.
Clickable option on all SG members for non-Sg members to stand close to them and they can hear the SG theme from like, 1 meter maybe.

I'd go with a human face and likely human ears, but consider a tail. For a "human with a tail for no good reason" route. DBZ inspired, maybe? By skipping all of the other animalistic features, you would avoid being confused with "just a big-*** catgirl".
The question is....belt or no belt?
Edit: about the belt: Nevermind. I've never had a character with both a belt and a tail at the same time. Coulda absolutely sworn that they were mutually exclusive at one time. You need the spiked belt for that costume. -
Check out this page, from my sig:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Enhancement
Scroll down to "slotting and Stacking"
Also, I'd advise to add the wiki as a shortcut or favorite on your computer. It's quite handy. -
Quote:Redside: You can sell at any Quartermaster (look downstairs from the spawn point you entered Mercy from or on your map)Maybe I didn't pay enough attention in the beginning missions of the game, but I can't figure out how to actually complete the task of combing enchantments. It would also be helpful to know at what NPC shops can I sell non-valuable, excess enchantments.
Blueside: Atlas Park or Galaxy City, look for the red and white guys near the trainer. (Almost Every zone has some place to sell at, but you're probably in the first zones.)
King's Row: at the train station or near the trainer.
Also: the Market is good for transactions like this. (see Black Market or Wentworth's on your map) What you are selling right now is not wanted by most players, so you'll get almost nothing at the Market for them, but the NPC vendors will buy them. Later, you will get stuff the the players will pay millions for, but the NPCs will buy for very little. Prices vary by item and by other factors.
Combining: type /manage to enter the enhancement management screen or click "manage" atop your enhancement tray. click-and-drag an enhancement on top of one that's already slotted.
Also: welcome to the game and to the forums. I hope that you enjoy them both. -
Quote:If there's a demand for thier product, they'll produce more. If thier prices go up, it's because business is good for them. Not the best thing that could happen. The best thing that could happen is depleting the RMT coffers, driving up their prices radically.
I like that you are trying to solve what you see as a problem. I just disagree as to the type of solution that you propose. -
Quote:Hence my suggestion of adjusting the sell-back prices for TOs and DOs. Much smaller adjustment to the game, would primarily benefit only low level characters played by new players. Low level characters played by older players don't need the help, since they can just mail $inf from other characters, and presumably have the experience to know how to earn $Inf.1 - I will still maintain that that particular inf sink is taking inf from the wrong segment of the population. We need more sinks for rich, experienced players, not for people just starting out.
In this game, particularly in the Market, wealth is tossed at you and you have to duck to miss it. -
Quote:Squirrels can rob vending machines. There's a video out there of one doing that.Ok, so I looked over that link for literally 2 secs, until I got to "Squirrel-like abilities" as a power... Besides agile, what other abilities do they have? Like, spiders and ants are super strong and so are heroes with those abilities. But squirrel-like?
Also: Ask Dr. Doom about Squirrel Girl.

Quote:Quick answer?Perhaps a better way to think about this would be to turn it on its head: if level-less TO/DO/SO enhancements were the norm, what compelling reasons could you give for adding levels and decay to them? What makes that BETTER?
All I got is the "Inf-sink vs Inflation" argument. Personally, I find the level-decay annoying, which is why I switch to IOs ASAP. -
Costume 4. Sorta.
You need something on the arms, but I hate the way that the the mitten-like gloves join the arms. (Although if my work gloves did that, I wouldn't have had hot asphalt shot up my sleeve, but I digress)
There's gotta be something just a little bit less than the full gloves. The ones in costume 4 work for me. Padded leather or such?
Most of the game's gloves don't work for me. Look into the forearm wraps? (I also like the fingerless gloves and there's a small robotic glove that passes for a tech glove, but for your character, that wouldn't work) -
Quote:Let's get back on track. Don't get too upset at Sharker's tone of voice. Let's focus on the topic.Ah, thank you SO much for pointing that out, AND insulting my intelligence at the same time. It was too tempting to do that rather than just post a quick pointer, wasn't it?
Are you primarily worried about the amount of $Inf on a lowbie character as they head towards the better enhancements later?
Perhaps an upward adjustment on the sell-back prices of TOs and DOs would be a better solution. It would be less invasive than removing the decay on non-crafted enhancements, and (mostly) only affect the lower levels of play. By the time you get to L25, selling Recipe and Salvage drops at the Market would far outstrip anything you would get selling stuff at the NPC stores. But in those pre-teen levels, the NPC stores (a.k.a. Vendors) would give you more $inf than they currently do.
I would rather not go into this, but I will: If you wish to peruse the Market forum, you can find out exactly how easy it is to make millions in the very low levels with relative ease without having to be a master marketeer. But in the case of the "New Player" (term not fully defined), this might not be obvious, so let's stick to more traditional forms of $inf gain:
1) Selling drops at the Vendors. IMO, In the case of SET Recipes and Salvage, the first time that you try to sell these to a Vendor, you should get a pop-up saying "Are you sure? You might get a better vale selling this at the Market." (then never get this pop-up again)
2) Selling drops at the Market at "dump it NAO!" prices. Even if you dump everything IO-related at the Market for an asking price of 5 $Inf, you'll quickly accumulate wealth as the highest outstanding bid will snap up your item...if there's any Demand for it. Otherwise, yes, you're better off Vendoring it. See: Supply and Demand, as per your High School Economics class. (even an old fogie like me can remember that far back.)
Sharker's point that Enhancements can be bought at the AE stands. It would not be obvious however, to the new player until they actually played an AE mission and wandered upstairs to see what tickets could be redeemed for. -
Quote:Regarding enhancement names: People tend to complain about the names of certain origins' SOs not being informative. What should I reasonably expect Polonium Exposure to do again? I have to right-click most of the list in the Science store and a fair portion of the Magic SO list.To succeed, make it hard to fail. Right now, the amount of detail in the enhancements is really too much for what they do. Arguably, IOs should have taken the special names that the DOs and SOs have... crafting an Accuracy IO isn't as fun as crafting a single-origin Benedict Tech Adv. Targeting Eye would have been. In any case, something with this much detail should be far more central to the way the characters are handled, like it used to be before the IO system was introduced.
DOs and SOs aren't special anymore. Let's simplify them, so that people can spend more time on the things that ARE special!
Sure they're color-coded, but I find Def and Resist to look similar at the stores. Luckily, I'm not color-blind.
"Accuracy: Benedict Tech Adv. Tareting Eye" might be a better compromise, IMO.
Common IOs should retain thier simple names. They're the starter set for crafting. Set IOs have thier own naming in place. "Crushing Impact: Damage/Recharge" works for me. -
Quote:By Epic, more like "tied into the game's storyline", than "super powerful".Third; Epic ATs are like any other AT, 'cept more epic'er. It probably won't feel like a new game to you to play an EAT.
I enjoy the redside EATs, and some folks enjoy the PBs/Warshades, but they don't have super-uber levels of power that far outstrips all other ATs, which is what some folks expect when the "Epic" name is applied. -
Quote:Unfortunately, after offering that advice, I was unable to find the (still stickied?) thread, despite it likely being right under my snout.David's threads seem to be the current best place to post anything art related, be it costume parts, animations or what not.

Quote:Cool.1. I was adventuring on Striga Island the other night and thought to myself, "Gosh, what a missed opportunity". I was looking at that volcano in the distance and remembering the Incredibles.... Rocket... Bad Guys....
OK let's spell it out for you. Let's say that instead of constantly running around after council or 5th column in tunnels there was actually a classic rocket ship being built in the volcano of Striga. The Council or 5th column would be building a moon base with a death ray to hold the world hostage. This would make a terrific task force mission. Especially since the last part of the mission could include taking a rocket to the moon and fighting the bad guys there and taking down the death ray.
Quote:2. I made some suggestions several years ago about new villian groups for COH. I'm going to take a moment reiterate a few of them.
a. Egyptians: two approaches could be used here, 1) The Young Sherlock Holmes approach where an Egyptian Cult has infiltrated the city and is pulling shenagans... they would make a good rival villian group for the COT's. Or 2) The Egyptian Gods were actually space aliens who have returned and set up a base of opperations in rivalry with the Rikti. For those of you thinking Stargate, I'm actually thinking more Dr. Who and the Osirans.
b. Aztecs: the agents of some lost colony of the Aztecs come to town and start causing trouble...Can give a whole new meaning to Montezuma's Revenge.
c. Undead Pirates: create an infamous pirate captain and crew, have him sail into town, raid paragon city to take his revenge, as he promised 300 years ago.
Those undead pirates....like the ones in Port Oakes?

5. There needs to be more than just Paragrine Island for the 45+ characters. It seems that once you get up into your mid 40's Paragrine Island and the Portal Corporation is the only thing happening. Maybe 'Going Rogue' will change that. But if not, then there needs to be more zones for 40+ characters.
The AE is still open for business, even if the PL'ing crowd is no longer farming it in screaming droves.
Oh, and Cimerora is pretty popular for the L45+ crowd, if all those calls I hear for ITFs are any indication. -

You have multiple suggestions within a single post. If you had posted them seperately, we could have more in-depth discussions of each (and both thier merits and flaws). I'll try to break it down.
Quote:This has been suggested before, and was relatively well-recieved. Detractors held the opinion that brevity is a virtue when writing a bio and that simply adding something like "see full description on VirtueVerse.com" was sufficient.1. Increase the character description text limit from 1024 to 2048 or even 4096 characters, allowing for better, more in depth descriptions. INFO and ID panels would need scroll bars to handle the extra info.
After a certain length, many people quit reading. I like reading bios, myself, but "too long" is a turn off to me. I'd only support this because I believe "more options=good thing".

2. Allow all costume pieces that have a secondary feature, such as ability to take a pattern, or 'special' patterns such as the enforcer pattern for the enforcer 'tight' armor to use a glow-map color the way the new costume from the mutant pack does, BUT, move 'glow-map' colors onto their own pop up panel, to use as an option. This additionally means persons using the new mutant pack could choose to use a normal or even muted or pastel color instead of a glowing color on their costume, should they so desire.

3. Allow slotting of ninja run, HOWEVER, keep it so that while ninja run is on, no other travel power can be used, AND, set it so that ninja run CANNOT be slotted EXCEPT at levels 31+, with a maximum of 6 slots. This would allow more creativity in builds by removing the need for other travel powers completely, but ensure that ONLY high level characters would be able to take advantage, which would remove the danger of having super jumping, super speeding, near invisible characters at low level. LASTLY, DOUBLE the endurance drain of ninja run.
4. Alternatively, ninja run could be moved to a new power pool, along with several new powers such as fast swim, whirlwind (move from the speed set), and 'blink', which would be an endurance heavy power that causes you to randomly teleport a short distance during combat whenever you are melee attacked, granting a situational bonus to avoidance of that attack, as well as a defense bonus.
Quote:5. Fix the sound system. Your 'volume levels' are a joke. The difference in volumes between different sounds is minimal, leans to the too loud side, and even with volume set to 25%, sounds are so invasive and loud that they overwrite ventrilo conversations.
6. Consider adding a ventrilo-like client to the game, running on its own hardware server, and add the ability to use preset and client created channels by tying the voice system to the chat system.
This would exclude the global and broadcast channels to avoid idiot-spam.
Quote:7. Allow team and supergroup based map pinging like in other games. Client chooses to send pings to team, supergroup, or supergroup and team.
I'm interested in hearing of this in greater detail.
Quote:
8. add an option for a ROUND minimap, non-sizeable, but moveable and anchorable.
Quote:9. add a 'monstrous' "chicken leg" styled UPPER leg for 'robot' and 'skeletal robot' and 'cyborg' and 'metallic'.
10. Allow use of monstrous (small) feet with normal thighs, by tweaking them to 'fit' properly at the knee.
11. Add moose antlers and round mouse ears...please!
12. Move HORNS to their OWN separate detail on ALL head categories...helmet, half helmet, mask with hair, full mask, full helmet, standard, hats, hoods, et al. Allowing the player to have horns on any head.
13. Add an option to TURN OFF the in-game display of jetpacks, jump packs, and crab backpacks, et al, allowing players to use them without other people seeing them. In the case of the crab pack, might I suggest that the bullet attacks and grenade attacks be animated as the player whipping out a gun, shooting, then putting it away, and the player whipping a grenade by hand. This would mean anyone with a crab backpack would also have to choose a gun style. In the case of energy attacks, make them emanate from the players eyes.
The Animations Dev might see this last one if it were it's own thread (with "animations" in the title, I would suggest)
Incidently, I like all of the suggestions in this cluster, except for Mickey Mouse ears, depending on how close they come to the trademarked logo of the heavily litigious company we all know and love.
I rarely use horns, so I don't care much one way or the other on that.
Quote:
14. Add a shield THROW power. Please!
Add a single-target ranged attack into this defensive set? Several melee sets have a ranged attack already and if you wait until L41+ you can take ranged attacks in the PPPs/APPs too.
Added Personal Opinion: I like the concept of Captain America, but dislike the idea of throwing your shield frisbee-style at your opponents. YMMV.
Quote:15. Change the AE so a person can earn full experience on any map or series of maps in a mission group...BUUUT...set it so you can only run 10 mission arcs per day, per character.
Oh, I almost forgot. AE missions don't get Patrol XP applied do they?
Quote:16. Change superspeed to allow running up and along vertical surfaces.
Quote:17. add a wall-crawl/ceiling-crawl power.
The Cliff's Notes:
1) Would require adding hundreds or thousands of connection points to every map in the game.
2) Would look stupid in maps like Independance Port, Nerva.
Quote:
18. Hats....MOAR HATZ!
19. Ditto for full helmets.
20. Add another 5 to 15 shades to each 'normal' color, with a corresponding glow-map color (in the glow map menu suggested earlier in this post).
Quote:I realize some of these suggestions may be over the top, unpopular, or mildy idiotic, but they are designed to add flexibility and enjoyment to the game. -
But if they dare to fire upon me with thier weapons, do I not owe them the courtesy of engaging them in battle? Should I not educate them that taking up arms against me is a foolhardy, nay SUICIDAL practice? I have a reputation in the Isles to uphold, after all.
I do have a difficult time passing up just one more little pixellated pinata. After all, you never know what salvage or recipe might fall out until you open them up.
Would Conan not punch a peasant into the next week if said peasant tried to hit him with a shovel at him, no matter how poorly aimed or weakly swung? -
6-8 inches below maximum.
You would always know that she was larger than most (by a significant amount), but that you hadn't simply jacked it to the max, which would be the easy way out.
Then play with the other sliders to get the beefy thickness that would imply strong and tough.
Absolute maximum is the easy way out, and I know enough about you to know that you're too picky (nit-picky at times) to do things the simple or easy way. You have an eye for detail and a mind that obsesses about the minute things that most take for granted.
