  1. More content for Redside, revamps of some of the oldest (Emmert-era) blueside content? I can't see why we can't do some of both.

    Maybe. Or......:
Throw in references in one arc about how the zone was "stunned in time", for a while after the great sacrifice. But have the contact worried why all of a sudden, the inevitable decay is so quickly catching up. This is a bad sign, $Heroname, and we've gotta find out why!

Honestly, there are enough people that want a DA revamp that if we put our heads together, we could come up with a solid proposal and a fairly fleshed out set-up.

Killbot loves to strut? (Gah! I'm starting to think of Futurama-style CoH scenario)

    Also: Lol at Decorum.
  4. I was checking out my arcs and I noticed that in the mission descriptions, it used the names of factions that I did not use (Rogue Clockwork, something Phantoms) instead of ones that I did use (Security Guards, Crey, Longbow).
The actual mobs in the mission were not changed.

In the arc that I had a custom group, it still said Custom.

Has this happened to anyone else?
I'm assuming that this bug came in with GR.

I just thought I'd mention this here since I've never seen it mentioned anywhere until someone casually mentioned it while explaining how easy the game was for them. Go figure.

I do recommend that it be nominated for a tooltip.

I will go hide my head in shame now.
    Additional Inspiration tips:
-Each inspire has an individual name, by type and size, allowing you to use them via slash command.
-You can go into the menu to change how they are shown as stacking. Numerical (shows 1 inspire on your status bar, with a number on top to denote how many you popped), None (lines them up in a row) and some other setting ("standard"?) which shows them overlapping to save a little screen space, but not saving as much as numerical.
-If you have three of the EXACT same, you can right-click on them to change them into ONE of what you really want.
-If there is an inspire that you want to NEVER use accidentally (like Break-frees or whatever) and you use the F-keys to pop your inspires, put them in a stack with an Awaken at the bottom.

Three, actually. His third mission choice is to defeat Ursis, which IIRC is a CoT name. It's unusual, but not unheard-of to get three of the same faction. If it's a faction that you hate, you just zone out, zone in and reroll.

No wonder Paragon City is so overrun with crime half thier heroes are Lord Darkitty-Dark-Darkness types and the rest are CoT Mages with registration papers. And 1% ERP'ers in skirts.

A power pool added (comparable with the leaping, speed or flight powerpool) - Tech Travel or some such.

    1. Jump-Pac
    2. Exo-Harness (accelerator): Increases rate of attack and damage for example
    3. Jet-Wings: Can be enhanced just like flight
    4. Missile attack: Over shoulder/wing projectile attacks from either the Exo-Suit or the wings of the jet-pac.

Not perfection but it would satisfy my desire for some toons to avoid super-travel powers whilst also being an okay pool power (that could be used indoors).
    I wouldn't mind some form of Perma-jetpack.

Animation2: Character tosses cube on floor, pulls watering can out and waters the cube, cube turns into a Ferrari.
Animation3: Character pulls cube from pocket, presses button on cube, tosses cube into air over Bad Guy. Cube turns into Dump Truck, falls on (and crushes) Bad Guy, hero drives off.

  13. Yes.

Tossing a few more things out there:
A few episodes of Ghost Hunters and the like should provide ideas.
-The glowing-ball-of-light thing "orbs" is represented by Will-O-Wisps in Croatoa.

-Unfortunately, having someone appear, then disappear by walking through a wall might just look like a normal NPC with bad map interaction.

-How would you like to be in a mission map where black mist did the same thing as the white mist I mentioned before? Or formed into a human shape, addressed you by name*, then went through a wall.

*creepiest? Instead of charactername, it uses the first name on the account info. "Help me, Rebecca, Help meeeeeee...."

I was almost hoping it was a movie/tv/other reference that I didn't get.

    Anyway, to add:
    3) Potholes and cracks in the roads, have an overpass or two be collapsed.

    4) Moar Ghosts. wut?
What: Example1: Ghost Mist. A non-targetable mist appears, forms into a humanoid shape, moans (or shrieks), then fades away.
Example2: Ghosts (use the croatoa phantoms or any existing ingame ones) in a NPC fight against BP. One faction could 'lose' by having an animation of glowing chains burst from the earth and drag them down.
  16. 1) A little more building decay. Take out the fog and DA is in great shape. Ever see the History Channel series "Life After People"? Add some ivy and moss growth on the buildings, pools of water around broken fire hydrants, oil leaks under cars, etc. Nothing like Boomtown's destruction, but there should be a "Decayed building" exterior that's inbetween Steel Canyon's immaculate buildings and Boomtown's desroyed ones.

    2) Why is there never a point 6?
  17. If you're going to be moving spawns around, I wouldn't mind a few spawn points removed. Namely, that pair of Purple-con Freak Tanks that guarded my mission door a few months ago. Maybe they were camping a Hero spawn point for thier Hero Slayer badges.
    Jerks.

Or, just any spawn point that's right ON TOP OF a mission door. *Angry face*

Awesome. Glad that you're enjoying it.

    1. Strength/Telekinesis/Energy powers (assuming energy converts into strength here) used to hold up sections of a building/room or open a door whilst rest of team clear a room or get NPC's out. Endurance wears down whilst the power is used to do this.

    2. Healing powers used to revive injured NPC's after a disaster - or cure sick NPC's.
#2) This makes my FF Defender sad. We already have people that underestimate powersets that do things other than (and often BETTER THAN) put green numbers up over heads. Now there's gonna be missions that she auot-fails? That would suck.
    Quote:
    3. Electricity/Energy powers needed to restart hospital generators or city power grids. certain lvl of power or endurance needed.

    4. Radiation/Energy powers needed to contain or re-direct power plant leaks. Certain lvl of power or endurance needed.

    5. Plant powers needed to revitalise areas which have suffered environmental damage

    6. Ranged powers needed for cliff-hanger sniper shots - could be a timing element here if villain has to be stopped before doing something or someone has to be rescued.

    7. Teleport/flight/speed powers needed to get trapped NPC's out of a deadly situation/collapsing building - again time-sensitivitiy could add to drama here.

    8. Scrapper/melee powers needed for "callout" parts of a mission - example - bad guy has a hostage but is in a tight spot - hero can challenge the villain to one-on-one to free the hostage if hero wins etc.
#8) We already have bad guys "calling out" characters via Newspaper (and Radio) missions. Why can't I get called out on my Blaster, then walk up and shoot them at Point-Blank range?
    Quote:
So anyway - these are some examples. I'm sure every power could be used in some additional way other than for just enhancing combat with some thought. The key point is it would give an even greater sense of involvement, drama and dynamics to the missions and to team-play.

Next post I'll put up a quick example of a mission. Perhaps people would like to suggest how other powers could be used for hero/villain situations other than combat - or suggest creative mission types.
I like the idea of varied mission goals and tactics. We've been wanting this before. Remember the "Want to rescue kitten from tree!" posts?
But where a flying character can do it, so can an AR Blaster.

I suspect that many folks aren't going to want missions that thier characters are completely barred from completing, due to not having the "right" AT or powersets. I know that I'm not convinced yet.

Although, maybe....provide for Temp Powers? Then you might have a shot at making this more palatable.
  19. So, for this app to work, would we have to have ALL of our characters logged out RIGHT NEXT TO the auction house NPC's? Or would we have to log in to each character, then mail stuff to a character who is logged off by the NPC?

I mean, in CoH, our characters have individual wallets with the ability to send chunks to each other, as opposed to a system with a "Global Bank". Would that interfere with this being easy to do?

I'm seeing a problem here in that you would have to be able to access the log-in server and the Global Email and the Market. Dang near everytrhing except actual ingame combat and visiting one's contacts for missions.
How much can you expect from an App? App-arently, enough to work the Market in another game with a similar, but different, set-up. *shrug*

I'm thinking that instead of plunking down the money for a fancy cell phone that does more than just send/recieve calls, I should just buy a good laptop that can run CoH on minimal graphics settings and grab a signal.
I already goof off enough at work though.

Any ideas on how I can get the name for my (consistently active) character?
Go to another server and see if it's taken there. Unless it's on "The List Of Unacceptible Names" or is a Highly Common Or Obvious Name there is a very high chance that it's available elsewhere.

I have resonable accuracy gain benefits and still very good damage gains which would notlikely suffer from ED. I avoid knock back because as a melee, I hate to hit and then chase the target I knocked away to try to hit it again.

    Hugs

    Stormy
Minor quible: It's Knock DOWN, not back (unless you're fighting blues/greens). If it were Knock BACK, I'd not use it as frequently as I do on Melee characters.

Now, as for the rest of your suggestion? Sure, let's add another recipe or even more than one, as another poster suggested to make 8 piece sets to allow for more choice.

In the meantime, you could always franken-slot a sixth piece (Acc/Other) from another set to get that extra ACC you crave. Focused Smite (Acc/Dam, Acc/Dam/End, Acc/End/Rech) or Smashing Haymaker (Acc/Dam)?

Now if you'll excuse me, all this talk of 6-piece and 8-piece sets are giving me a hankerin' for some Paragon Fried Chicken.

Yes, only a few folks would get it. The forumites are a small percentage of the overall population, and not all forumites would get the reference.

But if it's made clear on the patch notes that it's APRIL FOOL's ? You'ld get plenty of folks who go: "Huh, what? Oh, a small shack. lol. whatever" and go about thier merry way.

    Possible problems?
Spamming of small cottages blockade Atlas Park.
Or trying to defeat mobs, cottages prove to be less effective than your regular powers, resulting in failed missions.
