Quote:As always, thanks for your kind words.
If such a project ever happened, I'd be more than willing to be a part of it, as I love CoH like Elvis loved fried sammiches.
MMM...fried sammiches! As long as we keep the comic in perspective as to where it lies in relation to the game, we can be ok. I think a lot of folks began to expect direct comic-to-game tie-ins a little too often. I think the comic should be a tool to flesh out, not only the characters, but places and stories that we already know. Backround info that we can't get in-game and a better understanding of the world we now inhabit. -
Quote:No, that's called a living breathing City that looks more like the real world. The only problem I have with in-game advertising is that there was only like one billboard.
So long as it didn't cause a performance hit, it would be cool if clicking on real life advertising billboards opened your browser and took you to that products website.
We could be our own little Google. I like the idea. -
I had really thought these people mere made up. I though it was so cool that they weren't.

I think this was posted a long time ago, but occationally I read the narratives and looked up the names and found some really interested info:

Crowley is down right creepy. -
Let the zig be a zone where we fight to prevent "Costumed" villain NPCs from escaping and on the Villain side, get past costumed heroes to escape with as many villains as possible. Make them con to every level like the zone events, add generous amounts of chaos, sprinkle a few badges, and some special temp powers, shake well and WIN!

...must every third NPC carry a bag of groceries?

Quote:I think Statesman was speaking in hyperbole, as he is known to. It does seem that the gods of CoH-verse follow similar lines as those of the Marvel Universe. Every pantheon put a little into the pot (Pandora's Box) and when it was opened, no single pantheon could claim more influence than another, although the Greeks seems to have gotten the lions share when you look at Statesman and Recluse, but hopefully the new Incarnate system will remedy that.Actually only one of the novels (Web of Arachnos) makes the claim that the gods were only empowered mortals, Freedom Phalanx has Statesman making the claim that the spirit of Zeus is in fact living in him.
From the Canon Fodder thread:
The Greek gods aren't active anymore because they made treaties with other gods.
Again from the Canon Fodder thread:
The game takes precedence when a conflict arises between sources. -
Let me reinerate a suggestion I made earlier. Have poeple in the skyscrappers occationally look out the windows and wave at passing heroes.
-
Quote:A few things I want to say:
Secondly, scale. Just about every building in the city is BADLY out of scale, When you climb a building's windowsills, you will quickly notice that each floor is around 6 feet tall, and most skyscrapers' foundations are smaller than most standing houses. It's not so evident in City of Heroes as there are just a lot of buildings, but in City of Villains, it's REALLY apparent. When Aion "City" is comprised of, like four buildings, each with a footprint smaller than my house (and I'm a poor sod, too), something is wrong.
I don't know Sam, the scale in some places seems ok to me.

Lets get rid of the random mission door mechanic and tag missions to specific buildings. This will allow more named buildings, like the Crey wearhouses in Talos or the Family Jewels. How about curious people looking out of the windows of the skyscrappers when we fly by?

Quote:Ya know, if we had that old City Vault thing, it would make a great virtual compendium to the actual comic-style who's who.The first thing I thought of when I saw this was remembering something I used to see in comics when I was younger... ages ago, I used to have the "Who's Who" (DC Comics) and "The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe". They were done as alphabetical groups, so I remember one edition that had Scarlet Witch, one had Lana Lang, one had Angel (and ArcAngel), one had Cloak and Dagger, and so on. But they had at least 20-30 heroes/villains in each.
Rather than do something similar with just screenshots from the game, a novel way that Marketing might take advantage of the enthusiasm of the playerbase is to hold a massive contest - say, submit 'comic style' art (and obviously T for Teen style) for up to 5 NPC characters. A group of Paragon Studio judges (including David Nakayama and Ken Morse, for example, the art guys) then selects the best ones to represent the NPCs in the "City of Heroes Who's Who."
They can even do a "Create a Character's Look" contest - what DOES Galaxy Girl look like? Or Dauntless? How about the Dream Doctor? Or any of the other heroes/villains we hear about but never see? Talk about a chance to have your ideas made canon!
Then voila, we've got a comic-style "Who's Who" of the CoH-verse.

I propose the opposite. I think they need to remind the people just how powerful Statesman really is.

I collect them based on the theme. My mage collects all the magic temps, while my merc, get all the weapons he can.

Anyone know how to get the enhancement numbers to show up when you mouse over them? Since I17, all the numbers are gone.

For me, it's because I really want to join a SG, but I don't want to be made to feel like I am just a Prestige jump for the SG owner. In this day and age of the game, I really don't see much value in a place to store my stuff (Vault, WW) and travel is so easy (Mission TP, Oroborus), having teleporters to every zone is no big draw either. I want there to be some real benefit for me as a member even if its a small buff or added drops or what have you, it would be something I could oly get from being part of an SG. Showing off someone elses base-building skills just doesn't cut it.

Honestly, minions and pets can stay dumb as rocks, but I would like to see LT, Bosses, etc. become more aware of the battle field and have at least some idea of which powers to use in which circumstances.

Quote:I have to disagree. People like aspects of this game; no loot, no open PvP, easy learning curve, etc., but there are a lot of things in this game that people would like to have, but can only be had in a new game (or engine). Lets admit it, the game-play is repetative, and the mission objectives are the same thing dressed in different cloths. There are a lot of things are improving, but really this game is still all about the costumes and slowly, but surely, the CC isn't going to be enough to keep the lights on.The reason old costume pieces are still in the game and still as they are is because players have expressly and unambiguously demanded that they stay in the game. Check out the "all things art" thread and you'll notice that there's no consensus on updating and/or removing old bits. In fact, plenty of people (myself among them) are even now requesting non-reflective versions of the new reflective costume pieces, not because reflections look bad, but because non-reflective items sometimes mesh better with older designs.
City of Heroes is what it is. To expect a brand new game is unreasonable not just because of the technical difficulties involved and the cost of it all, but because a lot of people who play right now want THIS game, not a brand new one. -
Not quite a suggestion, but since im here, I would like to see the reformation of Rularuu and the destruction of our dimension.
-
See, I had this idea with Mayhem/Safeguard missions where villains try to rob the bank and heroes try to stop them.
-
Come on! You mean to say that you cant create a power that starts with you beginning the attack animation and an invisible pet that completes it closer to then target?
-
I'd just like to be able to remove the Arachnos symbol from the thing.
